Description
This week in Boston Neighborhood Sports, we bring you a story about two Charlestown basketball players who signed national letters of intent to play for a Division 1 junior college.
A
This
time
of
year,
most
high
school
students
are
counting
down
the
days
until
their
summer
vacation
arrives,
but
as
the
end
of
the
school
year
rapidly
approaches,
many
high
school
students
are
still
trying
to
figure
out
what
their
plans
are
for
next
year
on
Friday
fall
plans
for
to
Charlestown
high
school
basketball
players
were
set
as
John
grew
lon
and
Freddie
Oliveira
signed
national
letters
of
intent
to
play
college
basketball
for
the
globe
Institute
of
Technology
globe.
Tech
is
a
Division
one.
A
Junior
college
in
New,
York
City
and
the
two
former
counties
will
be
heading
down
there.
Together.
It's
been
a
long
journey
to
this
point
for
both
grew
lon
and
oliveira,
both
transferred
into
Charlestown
as
sophomores
and
battled
injuries
throughout
their
high
school
careers,
while
both
John
and
Freddie
are
looking
forward
to
their
college
experience
on
Friday,
they
were
able
to
look
back
on
their
time
at
Charlestown
and
appreciate
what
Coach
Cardozo's
basketball
program
help
them
accomplish.
This.

C
Two
years
ago,
oh
I
was
kind
of
hard
headed.
He
kind
of
smoothing
it
out
for
me,
just
me,
being
Who
being
a
new
kid
to
the
school,
helped
me
for
them.
Show
me
this
is
the
right
thing
to
do
and
what
not
to
do
like
he
helped
me
in
time.
Do
I
give
up
on
myself.
He
showed
he
showed
me
to
better
than
the
light
at
end
of
the
tunnel.
I'm.

A
Grew
lon
is
actually
from
Brooklyn
New
York,
so
he'll
be
able
to
show
Freddie
around
town
once
they
get
down
to
globe
tech.
Congratulations
to
both
of
them.
As
most
Boston
basketball
fans
know,
another
former
Charlestown
hardwood
star
is
on
his
way
to
making
an
even
bigger
leap.
This
week,
former
Charlestown
and
UConn
point
guard
Shabazz
Napier
is
expected
to
be
selected
in
the
2014
NBA
Draft
Shabazz
spent
three
seasons
at
Charlestown
high
before
transferring
to
Lawrence
Academy.
A
He
then
went
on
to
win
two
national
championships
with
the
UConn
Huskies
and
was
named
this
year's
American
Athletic
Conference
Player
of
the
Year
in
NCAA
tournament
MVP.
While
several
mock
drafts
have
Napier
going
late
in
the
first
round,
some
experts
believe
he
could
go
as
high
as
or
as
early
as
number
19
to
the
Chicago
Bulls
so
be
sure
to
tune
in
to
ESPN
this
Thursday
jun
26th
at
seven-thirty
p.m.
to
see
where
Shabazz
will
end
up
Japan.
