Description
The New Mission Titans, Tech Boston Bears, Jeremiah Burke bulldogs and Fenway Lady Panthers all made deep runs in this year's MIAA Basketball State Tournament, and we catch you up on all of the action in this week's edition of Boston Neighborhood Sports.
A
It's
been
a
wild,
MIAA,
basketball,
state
tournament
for
all
Boston
City
League
teams,
this
season,
since
Thursday
three
of
the
six
games
with
the
City
League
teams
were
decided
by
single
digits.
There
was
an
overtime
game
and
a
rematch
of
this
year's
boys
City
championship.
So
let's
stop
wasting
time
and
get
right
to
the
highlights.
We're
gonna
head
out
to
taught
in
high
school
for
the
boys
division
to
South
sectional
semifinals
new
mission,
taking
on
Whitman
Hanson.
Second
quarter,
new
mission
down
by
two
abu
baker.
Eight
and
deep.
A
Three
four
new
mission
gives
them
a
one-point
lead
a
couple
of
minutes
later,
it's
Aden
again
this
time
with
a
triple
from
the
top
of
the
key
extends
new
missions
lead
to
seventh
a
little
bit
before
half-time.
Nate
Amato
connects
from
long
distance
for
the
Whitman
Hansen
Panthers
ties
it
up
at
13.
New
mission
would
lead
by
one
at
the
break
3rd
quarter.
A
It's
Whitman
Hansen's
max
boarder
off
the
good
ball
movement
knocks
down
the
corner,
three
put
Whitman
Hansen
up
by
six,
but
then
new
mission
charged
right
back,
Aden
finds
sukwon
dare
for
the
hoop,
and
the
harm
puts
the
Titans
up
for
then
Whitman
Hansen's
Ben
rice
gets
the
layup
with
1:15
left
to
go
cuts
the
lead
down
to
five.
Then
six
seconds
left
Wright's
tries
a
three
for
the
game-winner.
He
misses,
but
Cole
of
Vangie
there
for
the
putback
and
we're
headed
to
O
T
that
come
a
comeback
there
for
Whitman
Hansen.
A
A
Third
quarter
now
Jack
Poirier,
basically
hitting
a
three
from
scores
table,
brings
it
back
to
within
single
digits,
then
laid
around
on
the
third
once
again,
its
Poirier
with
another.
Deep
three
keeps
the
sailors
within
ten,
but
tech
Boston
is
just
too
tough.
Router
gets
the
Polk
steel
scores.
On
the
other
end
for
the
Bears
they
go
on
to
win
easily
83
to
57.
They
advance
to
the
sectional
final
of
second
Boston
Bears
fans,
loving
that
then
we
head
to
Saturday
Division
three
South
sectional
finals,
Jeremiah
Burke,
take
it
on
Bishop
Stang.
A
First
quarter,
Damion
Perry
inside
there
to
Rodriguez
for
the
easy
bucket
for
staying.
They
go
up
by
two.
Then
it's
Burke's
all-star
point
guard
Devante
Jamison,
who
gets
the
offensive
foul?
That's
three
fouls
he's
got
to
sit
the
rest
of
the
half,
so
his
backcourt
mate,
Lavar
williams,
knifes
inside
for
the
hoop
and
the
harm
cuts
the
lead
down
to
one
then
later
on
the
second
quarter.
Mary
Perry
misses
the
three
for
Bishop
Stang,
but
he
stays
with.
A
It
gets
the
nifty
reverse
layin
eight-point
lead
for
the
Spartans
late
around
the
second
Perry,
with
the
leaner
off
the
glass
seven-point
lead
for
Bishop
Stang.
They
lived
32:28
at
the
half
3rd
quarter,
Burke
still
hangin
tough
Pedro
st.
floor
off
the
spin
move,
cuts
the
staying
lead
down
to
five,
but
then
staying
sophomore,
Declan
Marquis
its
the
turnaround
jumper
for
the
Spartans.
They
lead
by
seven
laid
around
on
the
3rd.
A
It's
levar
Williams,
hitting
the
top
baseline
jumper
there
for
Jeremiah
Burke
keeps
them
close
as
it's
just
a
seven-point
lead
for
Bishop
Stang
Marquis
here
with
a
huge
play,
misses
the
three
bust.
A
gets
the
offensive
rebound
Marquis
gets
another
crack
at
it
knocks
down.
The
three
makes
it
a
10-point
lead
for
Bishop
staying
at
the
end
of
the
third
quarter.
Fourth
quarter
now,
Williams
buries
another
three
in
transition
cuts
the
lead
down
to
ten,
but
staying
was
just
too
tough
late
down
the
stretch.
A
Now
the
division
to
self
sectional
finals,
rematch
of
the
Boston
City
championship
new
mission,
taking
on
tech,
Boston
first
quarter,
freshmen
Chris
Norman,
knocking
down
the
trifecta
for
tech
boss,
and
he
gives
them
a
four
point
lead
minute
left
in
the
first
alan
Nunez
off
the
steal,
gets
the
nifty
layup
six-point
lead
for
tech,
Boston,
that's
for
the
second
quarter.
It's
Nunez
knocking
down
the
three
there
for
the
Bears
gives
them
a
ten-point
lead,
but
then
new
mission
charges
right
back,
put
back
right
there
from
Edo
and
Hickman
cuts.
A
The
tech
Boston
lead
down
to
six
then
later
on
for
new
mission,
its
Aden
with
a
step-back
three
gives
new
mission.
A
two-point
lead
late
in
the
second
quarter,
a
new
mission
led
at
the
half
by
six
third
quarter.
Now
Lyman
Bennett
gets
the
floater
to
go
right
there
for
tech.
Boston
brings
them
back
within
two
then
later
on.
In
the
third
quarter,
it's
gonna
be
Bennett.
He
finds
Jamar
Browder,
who
scores
off
the
window.
Cuts
brings
to
puts
the
Bears
up
by
three
late
in
the
third
quarter.
A
Three
minutes
left
to
go
in
the
fourth
router,
with
the
acrobatic
leaner
right.
There
eight-point
lead
for
tech,
Boston
late
mission,
not
going
away,
though
sukwon,
dare
it's
the
putback
and
the
foul
just
a
couple
of
minutes.
After
hurting
his
ankle,
he
wasn't
giving
up
that
senior
cuts.
The
Bears
lead
down
to
two,
but
tech
boss
was
just
too
tough
once
again,
Bennett
finds
it
Browder
beautifully
inside
for
the
floater
tech.
A
Boston
goes
on
to
win
68
to
64
they're
heading
back
to
the
state
semifinals
for
the
second
year
in
a
row
and
finally,
on
the
girls
side,
it's
been
way
taken
down:
matignon
50
to
the
46
in
the
girls
division
for
North,
sectional
final
Imani
Terry
with
21
points
for
the
Fenway
Lady
Panthers.
They
are
also
heading
to
the
state
semifinals
this
week.
A
So
we're
down
to
just
two
City
League
teams
in
the
MIAA

tournament,
the
Fenway
Lady
