Description
This week in Boston Neighborhood Sports, we bring you highlights of a girls high school softball game between Jeremiah Burke and New Mission, along with baseball scores from the weekend.
A
Baseball
and
softball
city
championships
exactly
two
weeks
away:
teams
continue
to
battle
it
out
for
postseason
spots.
On
the
softball
side,
one
of
the
surprising
teams
this
year
has
been
the
Jeremiah
Burke
Lady
Bulldogs,
who
currently
sit
near
the
top
of
the
South
Division
and
carried
a
six-game
winning
streak
into
Friday
when
they
face
the
always
feisty
new
mission.
Lady
Titans,
let's
head
to
Ross
field
for
this
one.
A
Did
you
see
the
lady
bulldogs
trying
to
extend
that
six-game
winning
streak
and
they
picked
it
up
real
fast
in
the
first
inning
bases,
loaded
they're,
already
up
to
2,
zip
with
merlene
arents
get
in
the
blooper
to
center
field.
All
three
runners
would
come
in
to
score
for
the
Lady
Bulldogs.
They
would
be
up
6,
2,
zip
after
that,
first
half
of
an
inning
top
there
now
Burk
up
9221
runner
on
for
Vanessa
Anderson.
She
rips
a
single
in
the
gap.
A
Brenda
scores
from
second
base
and
pull
Bryant
leads
13
23
after
three
new
mission
now
at
the
dish
bottom
of
the
sixth
Katie
with
a
single
and
that
knocks
him.
Two
runs
for
the
lady
Titans
that
cuts
to
berk
lead
down
to
six
they're
in
the
top
of
the
sixth
we're
gonna
head
now
to
the
bottom
of
the
seventh
inning
two
outs
last
chance
for
the
lady
Titans.
But
a
ground
of
the
first
erence
is
all
over
it.
She
tags
the
bag
and
Burke
goes
on
to
win
this
one
big
13
to
seven.
A
Let's
take
a
look
at
the
baseball
scores
from
last
week
on
Friday
May,
tenth
O'brien
takes
down
madison
park
13
to
three
Jose
Vasquez
3
for
3
with
two
RBIs
new
mission
doubles
up
Southie
winning
10
to
5.
They
see
Cambridge
edges
out,
charlestown,
524
and
dorchester
takes
to
Fenway
12
to
five,
so
the
postseason
picture
is
starting
to
get
a
little
clearer
after
last
week,
but
still
several
games
to
go
before
memorial
day.
So
we'll
see
how
the
postseason
shapes
up
over
the
next
couple
of
days.
