Description
This week in Boston Neighborhood Sports, we bring you BNBL highlights from the Tobin Community Center, along with the story of the U.S. vs. Japan Baseball Exchange Program.
A
Last
week
marked
the
end
of
the
regular
season
for
the
boston,
neighborhood
basketball
league,
with
teams
gearing
up
for
the
bnbl
playoffs
one
team,
who's
sure
to
make
a
strong
run
through
the
bnbl.
Postseason
is
two-time
defending
champion
redline
who
faced
a
tough
test
on
wednesday
when
they
took
on
the
spartans
at
the
tobin
community
center
in
mission
hill.
Let's
head
now
to
the
tobin
4
this
one
there
you
see
red
line,
defending
champs,
only
playing
with
five
players
in
this
one
spartans
only
having
five
too
I'm
going
to
start
off.
A
In
the
first
half
there,
that's
leroy
hamilton
with
the
steal
and
the
lane
he
puts
redline
up
seven
to
two
early
on
later
on.
It's
the
spartans
playing
some
d.
That's
mike
rodriguez,
the
point
guard
with
the
steal
off
the
give
and
go.
He
scores
the
layup
right
here
for
the
spartans
they
get
within
one
there.
Early
on
in
the
first
half
late
in
the
first
half
now
ej
rogers,
the
tough
drive
there
for
red
line
he
scores
off
the
window
puts
redline
up
by
five.
They
would
lead
up
to
half
25-19.
A
Second,
half
now
spartans
climbing
right
back
marcus
neal
from
the
corner;
nothing
but
nylon
for
that.
Fellow
ties
it
up
at
35
apiece
a
couple
of
minutes
later
for
the
spartans.
It's
neal
once
again
for
three
gives
the
spartans
their
first
lead
of
the
game.
40-38
crazy.
Last
few
seconds
in
this
one
30
seconds
left
to
go.
A
Spartans
up
by
two
tavon
watson
hits
a
three
puts
redline
up
by
one
now,
with
under
10
seconds,
to
go
spartans
down
two
devon
riley
buries
the
three
puts
the
spartans
back
up
by
one
with
five
seconds
left
on
the
clock.
Redline
has
to
go
the
length
of
the
floor
for
this.
One
ej
rogers
right
here
goes
coast
to
coast
for
the
layin
at
the
buzzer
right
there.
No
time
left
on
the
clock,
as
red
line
goes
on,
to
win
this
one
in
a
barn
burner,
54
50
great
way
to
end
the
regular
season.
A
We
should
see
both
of
those
teams
make
a
deep
bnbl
playoff
run.
This
season
switch
gears
now
and
head
to
the
baseball
diamond.
Over
the
past
five
years,
a
little
league
baseball
team
from
japan
has
squared
off
against
the
little
league
team
from
the
north
end
as
part
of
the
red
sox
foundation
sponsored
baseball
exchange
program.
This
year's
game
was
held
just
a
couple
of
weeks
ago
at
puapo
park
in
the
north
end
and
like
years
past,
the
baseball
exchange
game
was
a
once
in
a
lifetime
experience
for
the
many
little
leaguers
that
were
involved.
B
A
The
fifth
year
in
a
row,
the
north
end,
athletic
association,
has
participated
in
the
annual
u.s
versus
japan
baseball
exchange
program
sponsored
by
the
red
sox
foundation.
The
baseball
exchange
gives
both
japanese
and
american
baseball
players
a
chance
to
travel
to
a
foreign
country
and
compete
against
fellow
little
leaguers
from
the
other
side
of
the
world.
C
D
A
B
I
bet
it's
going
to
be
tough
competition
because
they
they're
always
in
the
little
league
world
series
and
have
we
never
really
played
them.
So
I'm
excited
to
play
them.
They
were
nasty
pitching
fielding
hitting
just
overall
I'd,
never
really
faced
anything
like
curveball
or
anything
like
what
the
japanese,
kids.
