\
A
B
Good
morning,
everyone,
how
are
you
doing
today,
it's
so
nice,
to
see
so
many
people
in
this
space.
We
actually
used
to
have
a
wall
right
here
in
the
middle
of
the
room,
and
we
were
really
fortunate
that
one
of
the
local
foundations
gave
us
money.
So
you
are
sitting
in
our
performance
space
where
we
do
live
instrument
playing,
open,
mics
and
dance
and
videos,
so
welcome
to
Sociedad
latina
really
excited
about
today.
B
So
I
just
want
to
thank
him
for
all
that.
He
does
and
also
want
to
thank
everybody
for
being
here
and
for
the
support
for
Abbey
PDA
and
also
recognize
the
director
of
BPD,
a
Brian
golden
I
know
the
Commissioner
Evans
is
here
too,
and
also
we
have
a
b
c
YF
director
will
morales,
so
just
want
to
recognize
them
and
say
thank
you
again
to
the
BPD
a
as
well.
B
We
know
that
development
has
its
positives
and
it's
not
so
positive,
sometimes,
and
so
it's
really
wonderful
to
be
able
to
actually
have
our
development
dollars
come
back
into
the
city
and
work
with
young
people.
So
we
are
really
excited
with
this
award.
We're
actually
going
to
be
working
with
Latino,
English
language,
learner,
youth,
we're
going
to
be
working
with
500
young
people
from
Roxbury
and
we're
going
to
be
placing
them
in
125
internships.
So,
through
this
program,
we're
actually
able
to
provide
coaching
we're
actually
able
to
provide
academic
support.
B
Real
life
work,
readiness,
project-based
learning,
and
that
is
really
huge
for
many
of
our
young
people
who
live
here.
They
don't
actually
get
to
access
places
like
the
Longwood
Medical
area,
or
you
know,
a
job
in
a
law
office
or
somewhere
in
the
colleges
of
the
Fenway
or
the
cultural
institutions.
So
we're
really
really
excited
about
that
to
be
able
to
provide
that
again,
hands-on
experience
for
our
young
people,
who
don't
often
get
that,
and
it's
really
exciting,
to
see
so
many
different
groups
getting
dollars.
It's
really
really
exciting.
B
I
know
mission
safe
is
in
our
neighborhood,
so
I
just
have
to
say,
but
the
diversity
of
the
awards
and
the
diversity
of
programs
and
young
people
that
are
being
worked
with
is
really
exciting
to
be
part
of
that
so
I.
Thank
you
very
much
everybody
for
being
here
and
I
am
going
to
ask
Chris
Thomas,
who
is
representing
the
development
team
from
:
hotels
who
would
like
to
say
a
few
words.
A
Good
morning
to
the
Honorable
Boston
mayor,
Marty,
Walsh
elected
officials,
who
are
here
Boston
and
planning
development
agency,
director
Brian
golden
members
of
the
BPD,
a
team,
special
guests
and
recipients
of
the
community
benefit
fund,
:,
hotels
and
our
partner
moment.
Our
partnership
with
mill,
Nia
partners
and
all
of
the
those
associated
with
the
parcel
9
Hotel
project
are
pleased
to
partner
with
the
city
of
Boston
and
the
BPD
a
and
providing
$400,000
in
funding
for
workforce
development
and
training
program
grants
to
be
awarded
here
today.
A
C
Thank
you
very
much
Chris.
Thank
you,
Alex
and
Sociedad
latina
for
hosting
us
this
morning.
It's
a
it's
a
real
pleasure
to
be
here.
This
is
a
happy
event
because
at
the
Boston
Planning
and
Development
Agency,
we
believe
that
development
has
the
ability
to
transform
communities
and
to
make
neighborhoods
thriving
places
for
people
to
live,
work
and
connect,
and-
and
it's
not
just
about
the
structures,
the
structures
are
important.
They
speak
to
the
needs
of
a
growing
Boston
for
housing,
whether
its
market
rate,
housing
or
middle-class
working-class
housing
or
low-income
housing.
C
We
strive
to
address
all
those
needs
and
we
strive
to
address
needs
for
jobs,
whether
it's
construction,
jobs
or
jobs
and
hotels
are
jobs
and
retail
venues
or
jobs,
and
restaurants
or
commercial
office
space.
That's
what
these
buildings
do.
They
play
a
profound
role
in
the
lives
of
communities,
but
today
we're
here
because
sometimes
we're
able
working
with
development
teams
to
derive
financial
benefits
for
the
community
and
to
pour
those
financial
bennett's
benefits
into
organizations
that
are
essentially
the
the
beating
heart
of
a
neighborhood
they're.
C
The
lifeblood
of
a
neighborhood
they're
addressing
real
human
wants
and
needs,
and
that's
why
we're
here
today
and
I'm
so
happy
to
be
a
part
of
it.
So,
with
this
mission
in
mind
of
transmitting
important
financial
benefits
to
neighborhood
organizations,
we
updated
our
guidelines
with
the
arrival
of
the
new
mayor
in
2014
and
15
in
in
our
guidelines,
now
call
for
release
and
community
benefits
from
a
developer
to
community
organization.
When
such
community
benefits
are
not
outlined
in
the
development
cooperation
agreement.
C
Very
often
it's
specified
as
part
of
a
development
agreement
where
the
funds
are
going,
but
sometimes
they're
not
and
when
they're,
not
the
BPD
a
launches,
an
open
process
for
organizations
to
apply
for
grants.
So
community
organizations
must
prove,
as
part
of
this
process,
that
the
award
they're
seeking
will
be
used
to
support
program
or
provide
a
service
that
directly
serves
the
local
neighborhood.
In
order
to
be
eligible
for
consideration
for
the
funding.
C
This
process
was
first
piloted
in
2015
and
has
since
been
used
to
award
community
benefits
to
organizations
in
Allston
in
Brighton,
in
South
Boston
in
the
Fenway
and
now
Mission
Hill
Roxbury
prior
to
receiving
funds,
organizations
are
required
to
submit
a
budget
and
a
plan
for
how
the
money
will
be
used
in
a
way
that
produces
a
measurable,
quantifiable
impact.
So
we're
all
very
proud
of
this
work
at
the
Boston
planning
and
development
agency.
C
A
lot
of
staff
have
joined
us
today,
because
this
is
one
of
the
really
happy
ones
where
we
get
to
support
important,
necessary,
valued
community
organizations.
So
today,
we'll
award
$400,000
to
deserving
organizations
that
serve
this
community
and
finally,
I
just
want
to
say
thanks
so
much
to
the
development
team.
Chris
with
Colman
hotels,
Darrell,
settles
Cameron
Zahedi
for
bringing
to
fruition
a
project
and
benefits
of
community
and
provides
these
benefits
to
its
it's
neighborhood
organizations.
With
that,
it's
my
distinct
pleasure
to
introduce
mayor
Marty,
Walsh.
D
I
wonder
why
I
want
to
thank
Brian,
his
entire
team
and,
what's
really
but
they've,
done
some
incredible
work
at
the
Boston
playing
development
agency
and
leveraging
projects
like
this
for
community
benefits
is
incredible,
which
I'll
talk
about
in
a
second.
So
thank
you
Alex.
Thank
you
as
well
for
opening
up
to
your
home
to
us
today.
It's
exciting
it's
my
second
time
in
here
in
two
weeks,
so
I
love
it
actually
got.
This
is
a
nice
office,
nice
space,
oh
I,
love
it
I
want
to.
Thank
you.
D
D
So
thank
you
for
being
us
today,
but
these
are
all
your
organization's
to
make
a
difference
in
somebody's
life.
There's
no
question
about
it:
it
strengthens
our
communities
as
a
people
and
when
Alex
spoke
about
it
and
Brian
spoke
about
it,
we
talked
about
job
training.
That's
important!
That's
key!
You
know
the
hotel
it's
being
built
is
great.
I've
talked
to
Daryl
many
times
about
about
creating
wealth
and
opportunity
in
Roxbury,
I
talked
to
Cameron
about
it
as
well,
and
what
this
hotel
does.
D
It
actually
allows
people
that
have
build
wealth,
and
you
know
we
had
a
debate
last
night
and
all
we
talked
about
was
you
know,
criticize
and
get
criticized
and
I
was
going
back
what
we
did,
but
in
the
day
it's
about
building
wealth,
it's
about
creating
opportunity
for
people
to
get
a
job.
It's
about
creating
and
making
sure
we
continue
to
moving
and
strengthen
people's
opportunity
and
outlook
in
life,
and
that's
that's
what?
Hopefully,
these
grants
will
help
a
little
bit
supporting
children
and
family
supporting
job
opportunities.
Supporting
training
might
certainly
know.
D
Building
pathways
pretty
well.
I,
you
know
is
one
of
the
programs
when
I
would
had
the
building
trades
we
created-
and
you
know
I
know
today
that
there
are.
There
are
people,
women
and
men
from
Roxbury
dortmund
a
pan
that
owned
a
home
today
because
of
building
pathways
because
they
got
into
a
program.
They
saw
something
at
the
housing
development
they
were
eligible
for
it,
which
meant
they
were,
they
were
pours
pool
could
be,
and
then
they
got
a
chance
going
to
villa
trades
or
whether
it's
youth
builds
an
opportunity
that
they,
you
know
kid.
D
Young
kids
going
to
pick
up
a
hammer
and
they
don't
realize
that
that
ham
is
gonna,
lead
to
a
career
for
them
and
that
Korea
is
gonna,
take
them
to
be
able
to
put
food
on
the
table
for
their
family
and
buy
a
home.
That's
what
this
is
all
about
today,
so
I
want
to
I
want
to
thank
all
of
you.
We
are
in
the
middle
of
a
building
boom
in
Boston,
and
we
certainly
looking
to
take
advantage
of
that
building
boom.
D
There's
been
a
lot
of
money,
that's
been
that
has
been
been
generated
in
the
city
of
Boston,
we've
put
11
million
dollars
from
from
from
from
benefits,
community
benefits
into
training
in
the
city
of
Boston,
we've
held
4,000
people
get
a
job.
Many
of
those
training
programs
have
been
through
organizations.
Here.
We
need
to
continue
to
leverage
that
we
can
eed
to
continue
to
create
opportunities
of
people
this
this
project
I
know
this
hotel
project
before
I
got
approved
we
in
right.
D
In
the
very
beginning,
we
had
a
few
bumps
in
the
road,
but
we
were
able
to
get
through
the
bumps
and
I'm
glad
we're
able
to
enjoy
it
and
I'm
grateful
for
the
for
the
$400,000
that
we're
gonna
be
awarding
today
to
the
12
organizations
that
are
here
so
again.
I
want
to
congratulate
you
on
receiving
the
award
today,
but,
most
importantly
on
behalf
of
myself,
Commissioner
Evans
and
Brian,
and
all
the
elected
officials
I
know,
there's
some
elected
officials
out
on
here
that
had
problem
this
council
Jackson.
D
Does
his
district
had
partners
making
sure
that
we
worked
in
this
council
as
a
come
next
door?
Part
of
this
I
mean
I.
Think
it's
important
as
well
to
acknowledge
our
partners
and
government
in
the
city
council.
Our
citywide
councillors
all
had
part
in
this,
so
I
want
to
thank
them
all
and
you
see
them
thank
them,
because
we,
because,
without
all
of
us,
working
collectively
together
most
the
time
we
work
together.
It's
just
in
the
last
few
months
we
have
been
working
together
and
we'll
be
close
again.
Dr.
