Highlights of the renovation include redoing the branch's entrance to create a more prominent welcome area with an awning and terrace facing Dudley Street that will overlook a full redesigned plaza.

Jamaica Plain celebrated the reopening of their branch of the Boston Public Library. The ten million dollar renovation features a 700-square foot addition facing South Street that will serve as a community reading lounge, multiple meeting spaces, improved spaces for children, and a refreshed collection of 30,000 items.

With the help of the federal government, the Boston Public Library's Special Collections department returns three rare books originally printed in 15th-16th century Italy to the Italian government in a repatriation ceremony.
