Mayor Walsh visits Josiah Quincy Elementary School as part of Microsoft's Hour of Code, to stress the importance of computer science in the classroom
A
Today,
we're
very
excited
to
have
the
mayor
of
visit
our
school
and
today
is
actually
part
of
the
whole
week
of
code,
the
hour
of
code,
which
is
something
that
we
participating
this
week,
along
with
the
rest
of
the
country
to
expose
students
to
coding
and
the
idea
of
computer
programming
and
a
young
age.
So
our
students
they
throughout
the
week.
They
will
be
using
programs
and
websites
to
learn
about
basic
coding
and
basic
programming.
What.
B
They're
doing
here
at
the
school
is
preparing
the
workforce
for
the
future.
Having
you
know,
the
technology
that
were
using
I
mean
when
I
was
growing
up
when
a
lot
of
us
growing
up,
we
didn't
have
computers,
and
today
it's
all
about
computers
and
encoding
is
really
one
of
the
areas
and
that
business
says
to
me
a
lot
that
they're
missing,
missing
opportunities
in
so
I
think
what's
happening
here
is
actually
incredible.
C
And
my
fiona's
in
second
grade
but
I'm,
also
the
treasurer
of
the
school
Parent
Council
we
have
very
active
parent
group
at
this
school
coding-
is
the
language
of
the
future.
They
need
to
know
how
to
do
this
for
almost
any
job.
That
way
coming
up.
It's
amazing
how
quickly
they
can
adapt
to
the
technology.
