Description
The Sacred Heart School dedicates its early education center in honor of Carolyn A. Lynch, who spent her life advocating for Catholic education in the City of Boston.
A
B
Good
morning
and
welcome
to
the
Sacred
Heart
School
campus
mr.
Lynch,
your
daughter's
Elizabeth
Annie
and
Mary
mayor
Walsh,
superintendent,
Mears,
miss
everett,
senator
rush
city
council,
president
Michelle
Wu
city,
councillor,
McCarthy,
and
so
many
more
honored
guests.
We
are
so
excited
by
your
presence
here
this
morning
the
children
thought
the
president
was
coming
mr.
mayor,
so
they
think
they
think
you're
the
president.
So
if
you
could
live
up
to
that,
that
would
be
I.
Don't
want
to
disappoint
my
kids
he's
just
as
important
scholars,
if
not
more
so,.
C
Peter
and
Carolyn
Lynch
began
their
support
of
urban
education.
Think
it's
over
27
years
ago.
Maybe
more
Sacred,
Heart
School
is
just
one
of
the
examples
of
the
kind
of
support
that
they
have
provided
to
the
education
of
our
young
children
in
the
city.
Their
support,
the
direction
has
always
been
something
to
help
improve
education
within
Boston.
They
have
invested
in
the
city's
future
for
over
a
quarter
of
a
century.
Today's
event
is
really
an
example
of
their
constant
support.
C
A
long
time
ago,
Carol
endurance
realized
how
important
early
education
is
to
a
child's
development
and
learning
our
principal
Monica
Monica
Haldeman.
She
responded
to
Carolyn's
direction
and
encouragement
and
she
began
to
rethink
how
we
at
Sacred
Heart
could
go
about
educating
our
young
people.
This
goes
back
five.
Six
years
when
we
started
to
found
our
early
education
center
and
we
decided
to
go
12
months
a
year
all
day.
That
was
what
three
years
ago,
I
think
going
into
our
third
year.
C
That
was
a
big
change
for
how
you
go
about
educating
young
people,
but
those
monica's
insight
follow
and
Carolyn
had
said
and
taught
about
and
encouraged
that
we
decided
to
make
this
move
you're.
Seeing
the
fruition
of
that
now
also
Monica
has
benefited
through
another
of
the
lynches
initiatives
for
education.
She
was
one
of
the
first
principles
to
take
part
in
the
leadership
development
that
was
offered
by
the
Lynch
foundation
through
the
Lynch
Leadership
Academy
at
Boston
College.
As
most
of
you
who
know
Monica,
she
benefited
from
training
and
leadership.
C
We
all
know
Peter
and
Carolyn-
have
an
extremely
generous
in
our
church
and
in
our
city
in
helping
to
finance
education,
and
we're
very
grateful
for
that
on
your
behalf,
but
more
so
today
we're
really
grateful
for
their
generosity
with
their
time
and
their
talents
to
make
education
improve
in
our
city.
This
is
touched:
Catholic,
schools,
charter,
schools,
public
schools,
especially
here
at
Sacred
Heart.
We
are
very
grateful
for
their
participation
and
their
help
over
these
many
years.
C
C
That's
for
hunt
and
averse
eree
of
Fatima,
so
everybody's
going
there,
while
the
flavin
was
going
to
come
here
to
represent
the
Cargill,
but
he
unfortunately
has
to
celebrate
the
funeral
for
the
two
doctors
who
were
murdered
in
the
city
this
past
week,
so
I'm
the
fill
in
for
all
of
them,
but
I
extend
his
thanks
to
Peter
Carolyn,
the
whole
Lynch
family,
on
behalf
of
the
Cardinal
for
their
generosity
and
their
help
to
develop
all
our
educational
efforts.
So
all
that
said
like
to
take
a
little
moment
to
bless
our
undertaking.
C
Let
us
pray
Lord
of
wisdom
and
of
learning.
We
thank
you
on
this
Easter
day
for
100
years
of
guidance
direction
and
blessing
upon
Sacred,
Heart
School.
We
give
thanks
for
the
generous
service
of
the
religious
women
who
have
taught
here
for
many
years.
We
thank
you
Lord
for
all
the
dedicated
lay
teachers
who
sacrificed
to
provide
education
in
our
buildings.
C
We
can
sense
especially
Lord
for
our
scholars
as
they
grow
in
wisdom,
age
in
grace,
before
God
and
before
all
of
us.
We
thank
you,
too,
for
all
the
generous
benefactors
who
make
Catholic
education
and
learning
possible
in
these
times.
We
may
call
this
prayer
today,
as
we
rely
upon
the
great
example
of
your
son,
Jesus
and
the
wisdom
of
you
spirit
at
work
in
us
each
day.
We
pray
this
now
and
forever
amen.
D
D
Thank
you
for
everything
you
do
for
our
city
in
so
many
different
ways,
particularly
around
education,
but
so
many
other
things
thank
you
for
also
being
with
us
today
and
allowing
us
to
share
this
special
day
with
you
to
all
of
the
superintendent's
I'll
Kathy
Mears
and
Kathleen
Cody.
Thank
you
very
much
as
well
for
your
great
work
to
all
the
kids
in
taken
high
Roslindale
Hawaii
today,
all
right,
because
I
love
it
to
the
staff
to
the
teachers
to
everybody
that
makes
this
school
so
great.
Thank
you
as
well.
D
It's
great
to
come
down
here
today
because,
as
I
walked
through
the
line
I
serve
on
with
their
tags
and
I
myself
am
a
Catholic
school
product
going
to
take
Margaret.
So
it
was
great
to
see
you
guys
here
today
and
I'm,
just
great
to
be
I
love
to
be
in
the
school
plus
I
took
I
have
a
connection
to
take
about
Roslindale,
because
father
coin
was
the
same.
Our
destiny
left
Saint
Marcus
became
the
sake
of
our
Roz
and
Dale.
We
were
upset
with
the
whole
thing
for
a
long
time.
D
20
years
later
we
got
over
it
don't
worry
about
it.
You
stole
them
from
us,
but
thank
you.
Thank
you
as
well.
As
elected
officials,
Michelle
will
Tim
McCarthy
Mike
Mike
rush,
the
great
supporters
of
education
in
the
Catholic
education
on
City.
So
thank
you.
Thank
you
one
for
being
here
today.
You
know,
there's
a
lot
of
great
local
leaders,
educators
and
advocates,
who
want
to
continue
to
fight
in
and
advocate
to
enrich
the
lives
of
young
people
through
education,
aye
youth
in
Boston.
D
It's
important
for
us
to
do
that,
and
we
know
that
we
know
the
future
of
our
city
is
right
here
in
the
front
of
the
school
and
in
many
school
yards
across
the
cross.
The
city
of
Boston,
two
other
remarkable
life,
Carolyn
Lynch,
was
known
to
say,
discover
where
your
passion
lies
act
on
it
and
you
will
do
great
things
and,
if
you
think
about
that
for
a
minute
that
that's
a
model
that
any
one
of
us
should
live
by
our
lifeline,
discover
where
your
passion
lies,
find
out.
D
What
that
is,
and
many
of
us
have
an
elective
office
find
out
that
passions.
Many
educators
find
that
passion
act
on
it
and
work
to
get
into
that
classroom
will
work
to
get
into
the
government
role
and
I.
Think
about
it
and
in
you
will
do
great
things
and
there's
opportunities
here
and
that
those
words
are
unbelievable.
Words
in
a
sense
of
Carolyn
lived
those
words
every
single
day
who
we're
legacy
these
words
that
echoed
all
over
the
city
of
Boston.
D
You
can
see
it
in
the
faces
of
the
people
that
she
spoke
to
and
she
healed.
You
can
see
it
in
Boston's,
thriving
service
programs.
You
can
hear
it
in
the
voices
of
the
students
here
at
Sacred.
Heart
I
am
proud
that
this
Early
Education
Center
will
be
a
permanent
monument
to
an
incredible
human
being
incredible
woman,
incredible
mother,
incredible
life,
incredible
advocate
and
somebody
who
I
the
good
pleasure
of
getting
to
know
when
I
was
before
asthma
and
after
being
mad
this
year,
Sacred
Heart
celebrates
100
years
for
a
century.
D
This
school
has
inspired
young
people
in
the
Greater
Boston
area
to
be
critical,
thinkers
and
thoughtful
leaders.
This
school
serves
a
very
diverse
student
body,
including
many
first-generation
Americans
like
I
was
when
I
went
to
st.
margaret's.
These
students
truly
represent
the
future
of
our
city,
Sacred
Hearts,
Early,
Education
Center
represents
everything
that
Carolyn
stood,
for.
It
fosters
a
learning,
a
love
of
learning
from
the
beginning
of
life,
and
we
see
our
little
guys
here
we're
going
to
sing
for
us
in
a
little
bit.
D
It
opens
the
door
to
allow
many
more
young
people
to
access
the
opportunity
that
this
city
has
to
offer.
We
know
that
at
a
very
early
education
is
an
incredible
moment
in
a
young
person's
life.
That's
why
we're
working
as
a
city.
That's
why
we're
working
as
a
council
when
Michelle
and
Timmy
and
with
the
city
with
the
State
House
to
work
on
how
do
we
create
more
opportunities
for
early
education,
because
we
know
the
impact
that
it
makes
our
young
people's
lives.
It
has
long
lasting
benefits.
D
D
It
challenges,
students,
drawing
connections
between
science,
technology,
religion,
engineering,
art
and
math,
and
it
releasable
it
recently
won
a
national
innovative
award
in
the
innovation
in
Catholic
Education
Award
Sacred
Heart
is
a
special
community.
This
is
where
new
generations
of
Boston
will
discover
where
their
passions
lie.
They
will
act
on
them
and
they
will
do
great
things.
I
think
I
can
speak
for
Carolyn
in
this
particular
moment.
I
think
she
would
have
been
very
proud
just
as
proud
as
all
of
us
here
today
again.
D
E
E
All
of
you
who
work
so
hard
for
Catholic
education
and
I
am
most
grateful
and
you're.
Making
a
difference.
I
have
no
doubt
that
the
one
playing
peek-a-boo
with
me
will
send.
Maybe
a
leader
in
Catholic,
education
and
I
mean
that
these
are
our
future
teachers,
principals,
our
future
priests
sisters.
This
work
will
go
on
forever
and
I
am
so
happy
that
it
will
be
in
Carolyn's
honor.
Thank
you.
F
Welcome
Monica
said
my
name
is
Jane
Bironas
and
I'm,
the
chair
of
the
school
board,
but
I'm.
Also
a
parent
of
two
Sacred
Heart
alumni
on
behalf
of
the
board.
I
want
to
thank
you
all
for
being
here
today
for
this
very
special
dedication
of
our
preschool,
we're
honored
that
the
Lynch
family
has
consented
to
this
tribute
to
Carolyn
Lynch,
whose
dedication
to
Catholic
education
in
partnership
with
her
husband
Peter,
has
been
remarkable.
Their
contributions
have
been
measurably
shaped
the
landscape
of
Catholic
education
in
our
region
at
all
levels.
F
Carolyn
Lynch,
recognized
that
the
seeds
of
both
faith
and
academics
must
be
planted
early
and
wisely
tended
nurtured
our
board,
and
the
leadership
of
both
our
school
and
Paris
are
dedicated
to
being
good
stewards
of
her
legacy.
We're
committed
to
ensuring
that
the
Carolyn,
a
Lynch
Early
Education
Center
at
Sacred
Heart,
serves
generations
of
promising
young
scholars
in
our
community
for
decades
to
come.
F
Thank
you
to
to
our
religious
leaders
for
blessing
our
endeavors
to
our
civic
leaders,
for
your
support
to
our
ticket,
Hart
parish,
family,
for
their
generosity
and
unwavering
assistance
to
our
good-hearted
neighbors
and
to
the
parents
of
our
scholars,
who
are
our
partners
in
educating
the
young
people
at
our
school?
We
see.
Sacred
Heart
is
one
of
the
foundations
of
the
Roslindale
community
and
we
look
forward
to
the
next
hundred
years.
B
Thank
You
mr.
onus,
as
stated
before,
we
are
gathered
here
today
to
honor
and
memorialize
what
I
call
a
woman
of
substance
that
was
Carolyn.
A
Lynch
Carolyn
had
a
passion
for
learning
and
for
education.
I
was
very
blessed
to
see
it
firsthand
when
I
was
a
member
of
the
first
cohort
at
the
Lynch
Leadership
Academy,
Carolyn
and
Peter
were
a
regular
presence
there
at
first
a
little
intimidating
to
all
of
us
new,
Fellows,
very
piecey,
but
pretty
soon
seeing
him
there.
We
wanted
to
see
them
there.
They
gave
us
their
input.
B
I
can
remember
having
to
deliver
my
first
elevator
speech
ever
in
front
of
mr.
Lynch
and
his
board
of
trustees
talk
about
trial
by
fire.
Oh,
but
you
know
what
I
learned,
how
to
do
it,
and
that
was
the
important
piece
they
pushed
me
to
do
it,
and
that
was
based
on
Peter
and
Carolyn's
vision
for
what
could
be
Carolyn.
As
I
said,
leading
the
Lynch
foundation
was
a
trailblazer,
especially
in
innovation,
Carolyn,
drugs
science,
I
was
a
science
teacher.
B
B
Also,
it
led
to
substantive
change
here
at
Sacred
Heart
by
me,
going
through
that
Academy
she
pushed
they
pushed
they
made
us
be
the
best
that
we
could
be,
and
one
of
the
most
important
things
about
the
Lynch
Leadership
Academy
is
I,
was
learning
with
my
colleagues
from
across
all
three
sectors
of
schools
and
I.
Think
that
was
key.
I
learned
with
public
school
leaders,
charter,
school
leaders
and
we
were
all
in
it
together
and
I.
Think
having
that
vision
to
combine
the
three
was
extremely
important.
I
learned
from
them,
they
learn
from
me.
B
We
all
learn
together
the
innovative
spirit
of
Carolyn
Lynch.
Once
I
graduated
really
pushed
me
to
rethink
how
we
were
looking
at
Catholic
education,
it
made
me
wonder
how
we're
going
to
be
in
existence.
Another
hundred
years
from
now
we
had
to
think
creatively
think
out
of
the
box
that
came
from
the
seeds
planted
at
the
Lynch
Leadership
Academy
I
started
looking
at
what
the
jobs
would
be
in
the
future,
and
we
just
wanted
training
our
children
to
be
prepared
to
be
leaders.
B
Yesterday
in
technology
news,
it
was
noted
that
1.8
million
stem
jobs
will
be
available
in
2018,
but
here's
the
shame
there's
no
one
ready
to
fill
them.
It
is
our
job
to
be
able
to
do
that
and
that
I
learned
through
the
Lynch
Leadership
Academy
and
through
many
other
programs
that
I
went
through
that
were
sponsored
by
the
Lynch
foundation.
As
noted
earlier,
it
was
because
of
the
stream
that
I
learned
they
had
to
think
out
of
the
box.
It
was
also
there
I
learned
to
think
creatively
on
how
we
can
better
serve
our
families.
B
As
talent
once
said
at
the
Lynch
Leadership
Academy,
we
are
there
to
serve
and
that
got
me
thinking.
You
know
my
parents
said
to
me
mrs.
Haldeman.
We
don't
get
out
of
work
in
July
in
August
and
we
really
need
somewhere
to
put
our
children
I'm.
Like
so,
the
seeds
were
planted,
so
now
we
go
year-round
servicing
our
families,
where
the
need
is
the
greatest
they
can
go
to
work,
knowing
that
their
child
is
in
a
wonderfully
safe
learning
environment
and
really
getting
an
edge
ahead
for
their
future.
B
The
second
initiative:
what's
the
preschool
initiative
itself,
it
was
the
winter
preschool
initiative
that
enabled
us
to
have
a
state
of
the
art
classrooms
curriculum
coaching.
This
program
started
with
two
classrooms,
and
now
in
September,
I
am
proud
to
say
we
will
be
opening
six
with
a
Spanish
immersion
classroom
as
well.
None
of
this
and
I
mean
this
would
have
been
possible
without
the
vision
of
the
Carolyn
and
Peter
Lynch
foundation.
I
want
to
thank
you.
Mr.
B
H
Reading
all
the
magazine,
titles
that
I
saw
and
I
thought
to
myself
how
amazing
to
see
the
Blessed
Mary
on
the
life's
mag
magazine
cover
and
I
said
to
myself
interesting.
This
is
what
today
is
all
about.
We
are
honored
to
carry
out
the
legacy
of
Carolyn
Eiland
here
at
Sacred,
Heart
school
being
the
first
full-day
full-year
stream,
preschool
lumination,
celebrating
again
Sacred
Hearts
100th
year
anniversary
and
now
renaming
the
preschool
after
Carolyn.
Lynch
is
not
a
coincidence,
but
that
is
a
divine
blessing
upon
us
today.
H
Our
model
here
dream
big,
which
truly
goes
hand
in
hand
with
Carolyn's
model,
discover
where
your
passion
lies,
act
on
it,
and
you
will
do
great
things.
Our
passion
here
in
preschool
is
our
love
for
teaching
and
learning.
This
is
true
for
our
scholars
and
also
for
our
teachers,
all
the
teachers.
Here
we
act
upon
this
with
the
support
of
the
Lynch
foundation.
Thank
you.
We
act
upon
this.
The
Lynch
foundation
has
aided
us
with
coaches,
to
support
our
teachers,
use
of
the
owl's
in
building
block
curriculum.
H
The
Lynch
foundation
has
also
offered
teachers
and
myself
on
trainings
on
how
best
to
address
social
and
emotional
behaviors
in
young
children,
and
they
also
provide
each
classroom
with
what
I
like
to
call
a
startup
kit,
a
startup
kit
for
success.
They
furnish
the
rooms
they
supply
the
rooms
all
I
had
to
do
with
ad
teachers
and
scholars
which
I've
done.
H
We
are
doing
great
things
in
preschool.
My
challenge
to
you
today
is
definitely,
if
you're
brave
enough,
they
don't
bite.
We've
trained
them
well,
but
if
you're
brave
enough
to
come
on
down,
take
a
tour
of
the
preschool
pay
special
attention
to
the
smartboard.
These
children
have
had
a
lesson
in
what
is
going
on
today.
They
are
not
just
standing
here
just
to
stand
here.
H
They
actually
understand
that
their
preschool
is
being
renamed
and
who
it's
being
renamed
after
take
a
look
also
at
the
setup
of
the
classroom,
take
a
look
at
the
furniture
and,
lastly,
make
sure
you
take
a
look
at
our
bulletin
boards,
they're
guaranteed
to
put
a
smile
on
your
face
and
a
warm
feeling
in
your
hearts.
Thank
you.
So
much
for
all
being
here
today.

The
screen
Monica,
what
a
great
day
Asha
deeply
Monsignor
Kelly,
unknown
Monson
Kelly
for
30
years,
sort
of
amazing
individual
mr.
Muir
has
been
fed
back
in
Hue
City
and
a
couple
of
people.
There
are
bigger,
Kathleen,
Kathleen
Amory
to
start
this
program.
We
started
five
years
ago.
We
don't
have
this
in
all
of
our
inner-city
schools,
check
out
it's
a
leader
in
everything
they're
leading
the
all
year
round.
Now,
in
their
goals,
scores
extra
September,
new
schools
and
Roxbury
will
have
an
all-out
year-round
program
and
these
children.
J
J
J
They're,
great
kids-
and
this
is
a
really
big
moment
for
me-
for
a
family
to
honor
Carroll.
In
this
way,
their
father,
we
went
to
public
school
with
her
father's
high
school
principal
I
went
to
all
the
school
education.
Is
it
my
love?
The
King
said
it's
the
greatest
civil
right
education,
we're
delivering
here
throughout
the
Commonwealth.
That's
what
you
need,
and
it's
not
coincidental.
The
SP
was
our
45th
wedding
anniversary.
J
I
was
at
the
Lynch
Leadership
Academy,
the
6th
Cole
had
just
finished
number
seven
was
starting
and
it
was
a
renowned
150
principals
hundred
district
schools,
thirty
five,
thirty
on
charter
schools
pointing
and
she
Catholic
schools
to
make
a
heck
difference,
and-
and-
and
here
we
are
today
this
amazing
day
and
honor-
our
amazing
life,
amazing
mother.
Thank
you
so
much.
J
C
Thank
you
to
all
of
you
for
joining
with
us
today,
just
take
a
moment
of
remembering
Carolyn,
but
also
looking
ahead
to
the
next
hundred
years.
We
ask
the
Lord's
blessing
upon
us.
We
always
ask
the
Lord
to
shine
his
face
upon
us
to
to
give
us
strength
and
peace,
all
those
wonderful,
simple
things
we
look
for,
but
today
it's
worth
it
to
say.
C
As
we
begin
our
hundred
year
celebration
to
take
a
heart,
may
God
bless
us
all
watch
over
our
families
watch
over
our
teachers,
especially
the
great
resource
we
have
in
the
men
and
women
who
teach
here
and
in
all
the
schools
in
the
city,
but
most
of
all
on
ask
the
Lord
to
bless
our
scholars
here
at
Sacred
Heart
and
in
all
the
schools
in
the
city
that
they
grow
in
wisdom,
age
and
grace
before
God
and
before
all
of
us.
This
is
our
prayer
of
blessing
today.
C
B
Miss
miss
Mitaka,
if
you
would
lead
the
lynches
through,
so
they
can
see
the
preschool
and
our
invited
guests,
and
then
that
will
bring
you
right
to
the
reception
for
those
who
don't
need
to
see
the
preschool
because
you're
in
it
every
day,
but
looking
at
Kathleen,
we
have
a
reception
in
the
gym.
Please
feel
free
to
go
there
directly
and
I
want
to
thank
each
and
every
one
of
you
for
helping
to
make
this
such
a
special
special
occasion.
Thank
you.
