From YouTube: Boston Cares MLK Day of Service
Description
Mayor Walsh kicks off Boston Cares MLK Day of Service at Boston Latin School in the Fenway. This annual event engages over 750 volunteers in projects that will benefit more than 1,000 Boston Public School students.
A
A
A
I
do
have
a
quick
shout
out
to
my
husband,
my
family.
We've
got
a
lot
of
this
year,
we're
all
in
these
blue
jackets,
a
fox
25.
So
if
you
see
us
come
up
and
say
hello
grab
a
coffee
or
picture,
everybody
is
super
friendly
and
super
nice
and
honored
to
work
with
this.
An
amazing
team
we
have
Daniel
Miller
is
here
with
us.
There
are
under
would
combine
Michael,
henrik
and
all
of
their
families
are
here
as
well.
A
They
brought
their
kids
to
serve
as
well
as
anything
is
if
all
of
them
were
here
last
year,
so
they
were
circuits
and
so
moved
by
this
event
last
year
that
they
decided
to
give
up
their
holiday
as
well
and
serve
in
honor
of
dr.
King.
Dr.
King
once
said,
the
function
of
education
is
to
teach
one
to
think
intensively
and
to
think
critically,
intelligence
plus
character.
That
is
the
goal
of
through
education,
I'm,
going
to
repeat
that
and
what
you
did
to
sit
on
that
for
just
a
minute:
intelligence
plus
character.
A
A
We're
also
going
to
build
bed
for
local
students,
twin
beds
and
also
toddler
beds,
because
a
lot
of
kids
are
not
even
sleeping
in
a
bed
at
night
and
they're
waking
up
coming
to
the
school
with
a
disadvantage
because
it
didn't
get
a
good
night's
sleep.
So
tonight
you
were
going
to
help
today,
you
can
help
make
sense
for
them
so
that
they
are
better
prepared
to
learn
when
they
wake
up
in
the
morning.
All
of
this
is
made
possible
by
boston
cares
a
phenomenal
group
that
is
doing
one's
largest,
volunteer,
mobilizer
boston.
A
D
Thank
you
for
has
welcome
back
to
box
and
keratin
Martin

Day
of
Service,
and
welcome
to
all
of
you,
750
volunteers,
from
all
corners
of
Boston
and
for
many
neighboring
communities.
We've
all
joined
together
today
for
this
national
day
of
service,
in
the
spirit
of
Martin,
Luther,
King
jr.,
and
what
he
calls
the
Beloved
Community,
the
society
committed
to
justice
and
equal
opportunities
and
respect
for
all
people.
I
want
to
say
yes,.
D
We
want
to
thank
the
Queen
here
at
thoughts
of
Latin
School,
again
for
your
hospitality
and
for
a
whole
thing
of
today.
I'd
also
like
to
thank
our
friends
at
target
the
Massachusetts
service
Alliance,
the
Corporation
for
National
and
Community
Service
and
AmeriCorps
Boston
Public,
Schools

and

3.3
and
radio
for
all
of
your
support.
They
are
Marty
Walsh
and
another
superintendent.
Chang
is
on
his
way
and
Commissioner
Evans
from
the
Boston
Police
Department.
We.
D
For
you
to
be
here
today,
we
appreciate
the
year-round
partnerships
at
boxing
chairs
has,
with
the
city
of
Boston
and
with
Boston
Public
Schools,
through
which
hundreds
literally
hundreds
of
boxing
cares.
Volunteers
helps
improve
the
lives
of
people
in
need
here
in
broadalbin
and
last,
but
not
leave.
Please
join
me
in
thanking
all
of
the
boxing
Terry
staff
and
our
volunteer
leaders
who
have
worked
so
hard
to
make
today's
aw
give
it
up
today.
D
So,
whether
you're,
a
longtime
volunteer
or,
if
you're,
serving
for
the
very
first
time
today,
thank
you
for
being
here
today
and
for
showing
a
volunteer
that
is
such
an
important
part
of
baking,
Boston
and
Massachusetts,
and
our
great
nation
better
place
for
all
of
it.
What's
back
that,
I
turn
it
back
to
the
desk
or
MC.
A
Trade,
thank
you
so
much
for
all
you
do
for
our
community
and
the
way
that
you
mobilize
volunteers,
you
were
doing
incredible
work
now.
Boston
cares
really
can
do
what
it
does
without
the
help
of
AmeriCorps
involvement.
If
you
are
in
an
airport
or
long
or
a
current
member.
Let
me
hear
from
you
thank
you.
So
much
for
your
service.
B
We
as
we
partner
together
to
make
sure
that
service
and
volunteers
here
in
Massachusetts
and
across
the
country
wrong
and
in
able
to
engage
and
one
who
want
to
participate
so
I
will
oppose
be
here
with
you
this
morning,
as
Miss
Emily,
Emily
haven
of
field
messages
circle
is
a
weirdo
state.
The
axis
estate
commission,
on
service
and.
E
B
Are
well
positioned
to
eat
on
here.
Therefore,
members
of
the
health
ND
there
a
hidden
immunity,
so
we
conclude
quarter
is
often
hear
a
variety
of
ways
over
many
many
years
or
they're
excited
to
be
here
today
with
you
to
support
all
of
your
health
engaging
during
this
on
martin
luther
king
day,
service.
B
Of
the
people
volunteer
across
the
state
today,
the
project
is
supported
through
members
of
alliances
from
other
ways
on
all
of
us
who
are
choosing
headed
to
make
today
the
day
are
we,
in
addition
to
supporting
an
absolute
there,
is
need
support,
network
a
family
and
come
across.
My
position
is
often
we
have
others
minds
in
America
found
a
survey
in
school
p
school
after
school
programs,
all
the
insertion
eliminated.
C
C
Night
I
want
to
thank
Paulson
care.
One
thing
near
Washington
is
raising
all
the
books
shown
up
a
nation
make
this
indeed
a
day
on
and
on
a
day
off,
give
you
the
larger
landscape,
your
part
of
several
million
Americans
at
tens
of
thousands
of
these
sites
across
the
entire
country.
Folks
step
up
to
honor
the
legacy.
The
teaching
and
any
ongoing
values
of
the
champion
by
dr.
king,
dr
king,
is
famous
for
is
extraordinarily
insightful
quote
not
to
leave
within
these
challenging
times.
C
You
remember
that
the
moral
Arctic
entry
is
long,
but
it
does
bend
towards
justice,
and
your
presence
here
today
in
Crete
testimony
to
that
I
want
to
congratulate
you
all.
It
wouldn't
be
MLK
day
without
your
favorite,
MLK
clothes
and
I
want
to
get
the
opportunity
use
mining
for
someone
else,
deal
them
but
precipice
s
with
this
day,
of
course,
is
education
that
everyone
can
be
great
because
anyone
conserved
you
don't
need
a
college
degree.
You
don't
need
some
amateur.
You
don't
have
to
have
this
subject
in
your
verb
agrees.
C
A
Told
min
Interpol's
of
not
feel
his
Martin
Luther
King
close
this
year.
I
lived
up
to
that
promise,
so
well
done,
but
what
a
great
reminder
about
service
and
that
it
really
can
begin
at
any
age
as
I
look
out
of
the
crowd.
It
is
so
wonderful
to
see
so
many
young
children
here
so
Cooter's
be
parents
for
bringing
your
young
ones.
I've
revised
four-year-old
at
my
five
roles
here
today
and
I,
think
it's
so
important
to
teach
them
young
at.
A
F
Good
morning,
everyone
more
so
liberally.
My
MLK
quote
with
a
stolen
from
me,
but
that's
okay,
because
I
have
a
backup
one.
So
thank
you
for
all
to
all
of
you
for
coming
to
the
Boston
Latin
School
deserve
today
on
MLK
server
today,
and
this
day
is
always
a
day
of
inspiration
for
me
in
Boston
Public
Schools,
we
are
preparing
every
young
person
for
college
career
and
life
and.
F
Desire
to
close
opportunity
and
England
gases-
yours
today
doing
you
are
going
to
be
helping
to
contribute
the
closing
the
opportunity
and
shima
get
2.5
job
postings
everything
new
year
in
the
stands
field
compared
only
21
graduate
coming
from
a
stem
field
from
American
University
in
ecology.
We
have
a
great
deal
to
do
to
make
sure
we
are
closing
that
offer
to
achievement
gap
for
our
young
people,
and
so
we
will
honor
dr.
teens
legged
Lee
today,
I'm
making
sure
we're
preparing
more
of
our
young
people
for
jobs
and
careers
in
science
related
field.
F
Earlier
this
morning
on
opportunities
to
listen
to
some
great
speakers
from
our
elected
officials,
including
our
mayor
of
folk
mlk's,
that
I
so
Boston,
Convention,
Center
and
Senators
join
us
chang-diaz
reminded
of
letters
that
dr.
Martin
Luther
rose,
reminding
us
about
nine
not
being
paid
today.
Well,
he
was
speaking
around
the
issues
of
justice.
F
I
wanted
I
wanted
to
share
with
you
a
court
11
letters
that
I
read
every
single
evening
to
remind
me
about
the
importance
of
my
work.
It
was
superintendent
Obama
public
world.
He
sat
at
work.
We
have
waited
for
more
than
three
hundred
forty
years
for
our
consultation,
constitutional
and
god-given
right.
The
nations
of
Asia
and
Africa
are
moving
with
jet,
like.
A
F
Towards
gaining
political
independence,
but
we
creeped
out
of
horse
and
buggy
pages
towards
gaining
a
cup
of
coffee.
At
the
lunch
counter,
he
was
reminding
his
friends
that
we
cannot
wait
for
political,
Genesis
and
political
independence
as
a
supreme
kind
of
modern
public
controls.
For
me,
that
cup
of
coffee
is
a
quality
education
for
the
young
people
of
Iowa,
so
we
are
doing
everything
we
can
each
and
every
day
to
make
sure
we're
closing
opportunity
to
you
get
the
city
of
austin
and
you
are
going
to
help
contribute
to
that
today.
F
A
Representing
a
final
to
figure
this
morning
is
a
regular
at
this
mlk's
event.
He's
someone
who
believes
deeply
in
the
power
of
people
coming
together
and
make
our
communities
blood
stronger.
He
has
a
packed
schedule,
we're
honored
that
he
chooses
to
be
with
us
and
to
serve
on
MLK
Day.
We
are
grateful
for
his
services,
for
all.
He
does
is
a
Boston
such
an
incredible
City.
Please
join
me
in
welcoming
the
mayor
morning.
Walk.
E
Thank
you
very
much.
Furniture
and
I
want
to
thank
everyone
at
Fox
for
coming
out
today,
and
also
for
giving
up
your
day
to
deal
with.
Thank
you
very
much.
Anyone
on
the
back
of
you
want
to
sit
down.
There's
a
few
pieces
of
bunch
of
things.
90S
feel
free
to
walk
down
as
they
get
my
reminder,
I
want
to.
First
of
all,
thank
everyone
for
coming
out.
This
is
over
700
people
in
this
room
right
now
and
probably
by
the
end
of
the
day,
they'll
be
over
a
thousand
people
that
come
out.
E
E
He
has
the
Commissioner
of
the
Boston
Police
Department
julieta
with
everyone,
because
we
have
a
hundred
different
people
that
do
important
things
in
City
Hall
we
have
often
Blackmon
is
the
chief
environment
with
us
today,
Chris
Osgood,
to
keep
the
creeper
later
today.
He
knew
and
doctor
had
a
sense
of
déjà.
E
Tommy
Chang
with
us
today
and
I
also
want
to
thank
particular
Boston
Latin
co-host
on
I
want
to
thank
all
the
bottom
and
Latin
student
alum
teachers
tannins
everyone
associated
escapable
for
allowing
us
to
be
here
again
the
year.
Thank
you
for
taking
time
out
of
your
schedule.
You
know.
There's
a
lot
of
talk
about
today
is
a
day
of
quotes
of
dr.
Martin,
Luther
King,
and
for
the
students
out
there
what
I
was
dating
a
legit.
It's
amazing
him
on
a
quote
that
he
gave,
but
those
aren't
close,
closing
speeches.
Those.
E
Speeches
based
on
progress,
those
features
based
on
brotherhood,
Cisco's,
those
who
ceases
that
for
generating
those
speeches
and
some
of
those
quotes
with
a
no
speeches,
have
guided
many
many
people
as
you
go
to
a
superintendent,
said
to
meet
one
of
his
quotes
every
night
and
to
think
about
how
he
guided
his
life.
Dr.
E
It
as
soon
he
said,
leiter
falls.
Persistent
and
urgent
question
is
what
are
we
doing
for
others
and
that's
what
today's
all
about
a
day
of
service
Boston
can
certainly
understand.
Jack
pushes
is
questioned
me
around
and
by
connecting
us
in
ways
that
help
our
community.
It
helps
us
better
understand
how
we
end
our
question.
I
just
want
to
thank
for
the
kids.
They
trained
teams
of
individuals
incorporates
volunteers
who
strengthen
communities
and
improve
the
liars
and
the
needs
of
other
people,
so
what
they
do
is
adjust
today.
It's
every
single
day.
E
This
year-round
program
has
roughly
25,000
people.
Volunteers
who
volunteer
more
than
75
I,
was
supporting
160,
great
great
apostle,
schools
and
nonprofits.
Today,
we're
certainly
added
to
that
number
of
25,000.
The
impact
is
incredible
and
I
want
to
come.
Silly
thank
God
on
a
kid
for
the
great
work
that
you
do
in
our
city.
E
Suppose
we
the
rope
that
weathers
your
first
time
long
terms
of
Washington
theater.
You
were
veteran
with
other
great
organizations.
We
want
to
thank
you
for
kept
continue
this
great
tradition
in
our
city.
Today's
volunteers
will
create
a
stem
learning
age
for
a
thousand
for
public
school
students
and,
as
dr.
superintendent
Chang
spoke
about.
How
do
we
do
that?
What
we
do
with
it?
So
you
are
here
today
helping
us.
E
Well
people
talk
about
quote,
closing
the
achievement
gap,
you're
doing
that
when
people
talk
about
bringing
better
education
to
our
school,
you
are
doing
that
when
people
talk
about
giving
back
to
young
people
you're
doing
that
today,
we're
also
going
to
learn
in
the
next
chapter
chapter
in
the
bed
project,
you
wrote
a
little
bit
about
it
in
2014,
I
was
proud
to
say,
I
helped.
Take
that
keep
that
program
on
the
bed
project
is
built.
1200
said
the
children.
Don't
have
one
think
about
that
for
a
minute.
E
Everyone
that's
wrong,
think
about
the
fact
that
you
didn't
have
a
vet
or
if
you
a
little
brother
little
sister,
didn't
have
a
better
a
little
cousin.
A
little
kid
across
the
street
did
never
better,
and
what
would
this
program
does
and
you
think
about
2017?
How
do
we
have
that
today?
He
has
the
fact
that
again,
people
don't
know
better,
so
it
shows
that
it's
still
so
much
more
for
us
all
to
do
today.
E
You're,
a
big
part
of
that
and
the
numbers
going
to
be
pollution
today,
even
higher
after
we're
done
here
today
today
is
about
service,
but
it's
also
about
history.
My
tell
you
a
quick
story,
many
of
you.
What
maybe
you
don't
know
this,
but
dr.
Martin,
Luther
King
spend
a
lot
of
time
to
bottle.
It
he's
pretty
junky
5-under
to
12,000
characters.
He
walked
the
streets
when
he
was
in
many
of
the
beaches
and
many
of
the
inspirational
speeches
that
he
wrote
his
inspiration
half
of
my
walking
the
streets
of
the
city
of
ottawa.
E
While
he
was
here,
he
had
a
friend
and
mentor
named
Howard
Thurman
is
a
doctor.
Howard
was
the
Dean
was
Bob
University
much
chapel,
the
first
black
jeans
of
a
chapel
of
a
majority
white
university
in
the
history
of
the
United
States
of
America
after
dr.
King's
assassinated
how
a
German
wrote
a
tribute
was
the
pilot
friend
he
wrote:
may
we
harvest
the
energy
of
our
bitterness
and
make
it
available
to
the
unfinished
work
which
Martin
left
behind?
E
E
E
E
E
And
our
city
forward
serving
the
neighbors
serving
your
community
and,
if
you're,
not
from
Boston
the
Commonwealth
of
the
country,
that's
the
opportunity
that
the
colonel
by
working
hard
together,
we
can
make
life
better
for
everyone
in
our
city
