August Leadership Institute is the annual kickoff to the school year for the Boston Public Schools, providing a time for the district to come together to set a vision, learn together, and build strong connections within and across our networks. The theme of ALI 2019 is "Focus on Children: More than a motto - Eliminating Opportunity Gaps". At ALI, leaders engage in learning that empowers and equips them to eliminate opportunity gaps.

Good morning, everyone and welcome to the August Leadership Institute 2019.

We must increase rigor and the expectation for our students. They can do so much more than we're expecting of them and we're gonna be demanding more of them and I'll be working with you to do that. Many.

Of these ideas are not just from BTU members, but also school leaders and students, and parents and community members and I hope that you all feel heard as we work together to create the schools. All of our students deserve young.

People look up to all of you on the show view of the leaders of the bus, mother, school system Brenda and myself and Michael canto and Jessica, and some other folks might be in the newspaper every now and then everyday talking about the schools. But truly the leaders are sitting in these chairs.
