From YouTube: Disability Commission Civic Engagement Day
Description
Mayor Wu visited the City Council Chamber to address Boston's Disabilities Commission and their ongoing efforts to make the city accessible to everyone.
A
Alrighty,
so
we
now
are
able
to
welcome
the
mayor.
Mayor
Michelle
Wu
has
come
to
say
a
few
words
to
everybody.
B
C
Commissioner,
makash
and
I
had
worked
on
this
actual
room
a
couple
of
years
ago
when
it
wasn't
accessible
and
we
see
what
a
difference
even
just
one
room
can
make
to
have
everyone's
voices
heard
to
ensure
that
the
information
and
decisions
that
are
being
made
really
are
open
and
the
foundation
for
everyone
to
participate.
So
we
want
to
see
this
happen
across
all
of
our
rooms
and
especially
decision
making
spaces
across
the
city
across
every
street
and
sidewalk
and
bus,
and
that
that
is
our
vision
of
Boston
with
you
all
leading
the
way.
C
Thank
you
so
so
much
for
all
of
your
advocacy
day
in
and
day
out,
we
have
a
lot
of
work
to
do
together.
I
know,
there's
a
lot
in
front
of
us
and
a
lot
that
we
are
fighting
for,
but
I'm
really
confident
that,
knowing
how
passionate
our
advocacy
groups
are
in
the
city
and
knowing
how
strong
our
community
leadership
is
that
we'll
be
able
to
get
a
lot
done
together.
But
thank
you
so
much
for
being
here.
A
D
So
if
you
wanted
to
testify-
or
if
you
wanted
to
engage
your
City
Council
on
a
particular
issue
in
this
room,
it
wasn't
welcoming
and
it
wasn't
accessible
to
people
in
wheelchairs
or
people
with
other
disabilities.
But
it
was.
It
was
city
council
at
the
time
that
really
worked
with
the
administration
to
make
sure
that
the
rights
of
people
with
disabilities
were
heard
and
respected,
and
what
what
happened?
D
Is
the
city
council
worked
with
the
mayor
at
the
time
to
make
sure
that
there
were
funds
in
in
the
budget
to
address
this
issue,
to
make
sure
that
this
room
would
be
accessible
and
open
to
people
with
disabilities
because
that
type
of
issue?
It's
really
about
respect
and
dignity
for
people
with
disabilities
and
their
families,
because
you
are
important
you
matter-
and
this
is,
as
the
mayor
said,
this
is
your
room.
D
B
B
A
You
Michael
today
and
before
you
go
I'm
going
to
see,
maybe
if
mayor
Wu
could
stand
in
front
of
each
Pony
each
wall
and
we'll
get
a
picture
of
the
group,
so
you
can
all
see
yourselves
with
the
mayor
and
then
before
you
leave
today
make
sure
you
visit
the
tables
if
you
haven't
registered
to
vote.
Yet
you
can
do
that.
I'll
pick
up
information
on
your
neighborhood
liaison
or
veterans,
commission
or
age
strong,
so
you
can
really
get
plugged
in
with
our
government.
Thank
you.
Everybody.
