a
hearing
before
the
mayor's
office
of
consumer
affairs
and
licensing
for
the
city
of
boston.
Today
is
thursday
october
14th
2021.
Today's
hearing
is
being
held
pursuant
to
temporary
amendments
to
open
meeting.
Well,
that
is
what
allows
us
to
meet
virtually
with
us.
Today
is
executive
director,
kathleen
joyce
board
secretary,
danny
green
and
myself,
rebecca
food
director
of
operations
calling
our
first
and
only
item
flying
embers
fermented
sciences
to
inc
located
at
152.

We
are
here
today
to
present
our
application
for
a
live
entertainment
license
it's
a
non-live
and
live
we're
looking
to
add
live
entertainment
to
those
non-lock
aspects
of
the
license.
Specifically,
we've
asked
for
a
number
of
different
items.
The
ability
to
have
a
dj
table
games
specifically
ping.

Karaoke
instrumental
and
vocal
music,
so
small,
vocal
music
groups
and
then
athletic
events
and
floor
shows
flying
embers
is
a
brewery.
They
brew
hard,
kombucha
and
seltzers.
It's
a
very
large
space,
very
industrial,
so
they
have
the
ability
to
host
a
number
of
events
and
have
a
number
of
entertainers
present
to
just
give
a
great
experience
to
their
customers
and
they're
new
to
boston.

The
company
itself
for
media
sciences
is
actually
based
out
in
california,
and
we
are
their
first
venture
out
here
on
the
east
coast,
they've
been
very
popular
since
they've
opened,
and
this
application
is
just
allow
them
to
give
another
amenity
to
all
the
customers
coming
into
the
space.
The
hours
of
operation
on
the
pouring
permit
r
is
till
2
a.m.
Seven
days
a
week,
we've
asked
that
the
entertainment
be
until
1
30
in
the
morning
and
then
the
outdoor
entertainment
would
end
by
midnight.
That's
not
a
very
residential
area.

this
space
in
west
roxbury
we
held
in
a
butters
meeting,
and
there
was
nobody
in
opposition
previously
when
going
through
the
zoning
process
to
be
allowed
to
have
the
live,
entertainment
at
the
space.
We
did.
The
very
thorough
and
extensive
community
outreach
in
order
to
even
receive
the
live,
entertainment
ability
on
for
the
zoning
for
the
space
and
we
did
receive
the
before
and
after
10
30
pm
hours
for
the
live,
entertainment
as
well
happy
to
answer
any
questions.

very

space
is
open

rent

parking
lot

space
outdoors,
we
have
a
very,
very
large
space
that
is
actually
sectioned
off

parking
lot

the

the
landlord's
property.

being
up
to
have
you
know
a
parking
lot
game
out
there
being
able
to
have
a
little
acoustic
set,
we
even
a
dj,
but
again
as
marcy
kind

mentioned
as
well.

None

the
businesses
are
open
past,

around
there
and
then
there's
also
no
residences
nearby.
So
that's
why
we
also
felt
comfortable
asking
for
live
entertainment
to
go

little
bit
later.

that
capacity
for

people
outside,
or
is
that
outside.

so
we
originally
during
the
zoning
process,
went
to
all
the
community
groups
and
held
abutters
meetings
and
received
support
from
the
community
and
before
we
went
for
this
board
with
this
application,
ons
just
required
us
to
host
another
butter
meeting
for
that
outdoor
live
entertainment,
I'm
just
specifically
closer
to
this
date,
since
the
zoning
process
did
happen
a
little
while
ago,
and
so
we
held
that
in.

just
had
it
in
my
head,
and
I
have
now.
