Description
City of Boston Entertainment Board Application Hearing 5-6-21
A
A
Good
afternoon
this
is
a
hearing
before
the
mayor's
office
of
consumer
affairs
and
licensing
today
is
may
6..
Today's
hearing
is
being
conducted
pursuant
to
certain
temporary
amendments
to
the
open
meeting
law.
That
is
what
allows
us
to
meet
virtually
today's
hearing
is
being
recorded
and
will
be
posted
to
the
city
of
boston's
website.
A
A
Following
the
questions
we
will
take
public
testimony,
beginning
with
elected
officials
or
their
representatives
and
then
turn
into
the
general
public
calling
courtyard
boston,
downtown
north
then
located
at
107
beverly
street.
The
applicant
is
beverly
street
1b
llc,
the
manager
of
record
is
natasha
casilla.
The
request
is
to
maintain
and
operate
the
categories
of
trivia
disk
jockey
up
to
10,
instrumental
and
vocal
for
seven
days
a
week
to
the
existing
non-live
entertainment
license.
Who
is
present
on
behalf
of
the
applicant.
B
B
Thank
you.
Thank
you,
madam
chair.
Thank
you
so
much.
We
are
here
today
to
ask
to
add
live
entertainment
to
the
existing
non-live
entertainment
license
already
at
the
establishment.
B
The
hotel
has
been
holding
an
in-holder
license
and
non-live
entertainment
license
since
2016..
They
began
the
process
during
the
community
outreach
process.
At
that
time
they
did
present
a
whole
concept
of
a
traditional
hotel
with
events
taking
place
music
in
the
lobby,
activities
for
guests,
and
that's
really
what
adding
these
new
elements
to
the
hotel
will
be
able
to
offer
so
they're.
Looking
to
add
the
new
entertainment
to
the
first
floor,
as
well
as
the
fourth
floor,
which
is
where
they
have
meeting
rooms
and
spaces
that
can
hold
small
events.
B
The
live
music
would
be
for
those
events,
as
well
as
in
the
lobby,
to
have
a
pianist
playing
or
a
small,
instrumental
band
or
singer
playing
in
the
lobby.
Lounge
bar
area
for
the
guests
to
enjoy
very
much
just
a
traditional
concept
of
all
of
the
amenities
that
a
high
quality
hotel
would
offer
in
the
city
of
boston
is
really
what
we're
looking
to
add
in
this
situation
as
well.
So
the
trivia,
as
would
also
be
something
held
in
the
social
lounge
that
they
have
in
the
lobby
of
the
hotel.
B
The
community
outreach
went
really
well
back
in
2016
when
we
were
bringing
this
concept
to
light
in
the
area
and
we're
really
hoping
to
be
able
to
just
give
all
of
the
guests
and
the
neighborhood
just
some
real,
really
quality,
entertainment
and
activities
things
to
do
while
they're
enjoying
their
stay.
B
Did
the
community
outreach
not
since
2016
we
did
do
zoning
in
2018,
so
we
received
some
support
and
met
with
the
north
and
water.
I'm
sorry
the
downtown
north
association.
We
received
their
support
from
that
and
we
are
going
to
be
holding
another
a
butters
meeting.
I'm
sure
lisa
will
say
more
about
that,
but
we
are
going
to
be
holding
another
butters
meeting
since
it
has
been
a
few
years
since
we
had
that
initial
contact
with
the
community
itself.
B
The
dj
would
be
mostly
for
events
held
in
that
the
event
space
on
the
fourth
floor.
It's
smaller
spaces
for
kind
of
smaller
gatherings,
small
weddings
or
small
mitzvahs
things
of
that
nature.
A
birthday
party
they're,
not
very
large
spaces,
so
it
wouldn't
be
sort
of
an
overwhelming
event,
but
that's
really
where
the
dj
would
be
focused
if
they
were
interested
in
having
one
just
want
to
be
able
to
have
the.
B
The
two
meeting
rooms
have
58
and
57
seats,
and
then
there
is
another
smaller
space,
it's
more
of
a
board
room
and
that
has
ten
seats.
Okay,.
C
Okay,
I'm
gonna
hand
it
over
to
the
director
of
licensing
rebecca.
Do
you
have
any
questions
you
need
answered.
D
Oh
on
the
application,
you
wrote:
seven
a.m
to
two
p.m.
I
just
wanted
to
check.
Did
you
mean
seven
a.m?
To.
B
Two
a.m:
the
current
entertainment
license
has
a
2
a.m,
cut
off
time
for
the
entertainment.
We
don't
expect
that
any
of
the
live
entertainment
would
go
beyond
midnight.
Any
events
would
be
done
around
then,
and
any
live
music
in
the
lobby
area
would
be
wrapped
up
before
midnight
as
well.
D
Okay
and
then,
if
you
could
just
email
me,
the
notification
of
butters
and
the
newspaper
tier
sheet
and
the
affidavit
when
you
have
a
chance,
but
I
don't
have
any
yes
absolutely.
A
See
no
other
questions.
Are
there
any
individuals
who
wish
to
testify
regarding
this
application.
E
Good
morning,
madam
chair
members
of
the
board,
lisa
hi
with
the
mayor's
office
and
neighborhood
services,
our
office
understands
that
there
are
support
from
the
community
specific
to
this
proposal
when
they
did
majority
of
the
outreach
in
2016,
and
we
do
not
see
any
major
issues
but
ask
that
the
board
posts
a
vote
until
our
office
holds
in
a
borders
meeting
this
month.
Thank
you.
E
Not
yet
drum
romano
is
the
liaison
with
this
area
and
he's
on
vacation,
so
I'll
touch
base
with
him
afterwards.
