Description
City of Boston Entertainment Board - Application Hearing - 1/31/22
A
Okay
good
morning,
this
is
an
administrative
hearing
before
the
mayor's
office
of
consumer
affairs
and
licensing
today
is
monday
january
31st
2022.
This
hearing
is
being
conducted
pursuant
to
certain
temporary
amendments
to
the
open
meeting
law.
That
is
what
allows
us
to
meet.
Virtually
this
hearing
is
being
recorded
and
will
be
posted
to
the
city
of
boston's
website.
A
We
are
joined
today
by
the
director
of
operations
rebecca
fu.
I
will
read
today's
agenda
item
into
the
record.
I
will
then
ask
who
is
present
on
behalf
of
the
applicant
that
make
a
brief
presentation
regarding
your
proposal,
followed
by
questions
by
the
division
and
testimony
beginning
with
elected
officials
or
their
representatives.
A
Please
limit
your
testimony
to
two
minutes
and
please
state
your
name
address
and
affiliation.
If
any,
calling
today's
item
on
the
agenda
stage,
karaoke
llc
doing
business
as
stage
karaoke
located
at
138,
brighton
avenue
second
floor
in
alston.
B
Attorney
green,
miss
foo,
dennis
quilty
attorney
representing
stage
karaoke
with
me,
is
henry
wong
the
place
the
proposed
licensee
manager
of
record
and.
A
B
Ahead,
thank
you,
sir.
So
mr
wong
is
a
licensee
of
long
standing
in
the
city.
Has
restaurant
licenses
and
a
staged
karaoke
original
location
in
the
theater
district
operated
very
well
for
many
years
in
that
location
well,
supported
in
the
community.
This
location
is
a
new
location
for
him
at
138,
brighton
avenue.
D
To
find
this
sure
the
space
consists
of
12
rooms
and
one
common
area,
so
people
can
rent
rooms
for
for
the
hour.
They
are
free
to
come
in
to
rent
the
rooms
or
come
into
the
staging
area,
which
is
general
admission,
but
the
the
only
thing
we
do
is
karaoke.
C
I
know
you
applied
for
dj.
What
would
the
dj
be
used
for.
D
It's
karaoke
dj,
it's
karaoke
dj,
but
then
in
between
songs,
we
have
to
place
something.
So
that's
yeah.
C
Got
it
okay,
and
would
there
ever
be
like
special
events
held
in
the
common
area.
D
C
Okay,
so
no
cover
charger
door.
D
C
D
Yep,
so
we
have
some
proving
360
degrees
from
the
roof,
from
the
ceiling
to
the
roof
from
the
flooring
and
the
walls.
We
have
two
sets
of
soundproofing
in
all
four
walls
in
the
past.
My
my
past,
at
line
my
station
studio
in
downtown
I've
been
there
for
more
than
15
years
and
we've
never
had
any
complaints
and
we've
been
open
under
the
temporary
license
at
the
austin
address
for
more
than
a
month.
Now,
there's
we
myself,
I
want
to
walk
by,
couldn't
hear
anything
when
I
walk
by
the
place.
C
Okay,
I
don't
think
I
have
any
further
questions
dan.
Do
you
have
any
questions.
A
E
And
chair
members
of
the
board,
conor
newman
with
the
mayor's
office
neighborhood
services.
At
this
time,
airsoft's
like
to
defer
to
the
board
background
information,
henry's
worked
extensively
with
the
austin
civic
association,
which
is
the
active
neighborhood
group
in
this
area,
this
location
previously
for
almost
well
over
a
decade.
You
know
it's
been
used
as
a
restaurant
as
a
bar.
This
is
an
entertainment
district
where
residents
are
used
to
you
know
a
lot
of
bars.
Restaurants,
we
think
karaoke
would
be
a
great
addition
and
we're
not
aware
of
any
concerns
from
the
neighborhood.
F
Good
morning
attorney
green
director,
foo
pam
mullany
from
the
office
of
city
councilor,
liz
braden,
frost
in
brighton.
The
counselor
would
like
to
go
on
record
in
support
of
the
permanent
entertainment
license
as
described
in
the
application.
We
had
the
opportunity
to
tour
the
premises
and
hear
from
henry
wong
about
the
sound
proofing.
It
looks
like
a
good
use
for
this
location
and
brings
jobs
and
conviviality
to
the
neighborhood,
so
strong
support
from
us
thanks.
A
Great
thank
you
and
just
for
the
record,
we
did
receive
a
letter
of
support
from
the
austin
civic
association
this
morning
that
has
been
placed
on
the
applicant's
file
director
foo
any
further
questions
from
you.
