From YouTube: City of Boston Licensing Board Voting Hearing 5-4-2023
Description
The Licensing Board for the City of Boston holds licensed premise inspection hearings on Tuesdays, transactional hearings on Wednesdays and voting hearings on Thursdays weekly pursuant to Governor Charles Baker’s executive order (the “Order”) issued March 22, 2020, temporarily modifying certain requirements of the Open Meeting Law (M.G.L. ch. 30A s. 20) due to the ongoing public health crisis due to Covid-19 (coronavirus).

we'll

with

which
occurred

C
Thank
you,
Danny.
The
testimony
at
the
hearing
was
that
this
was
something
that
escalated
once
the
two
people
were
removed
from
the
license
premise
and
went
outside
I.
Don't
think
there
was
anything
that,
like
the
license,
he
could
have
done
to
have
prevented
this.
It
happened
very
quickly.
I,
don't
see
a
violation.
B
C
The
bartender's
reaction,
so
this
was
a
this
started
with
a
patron
trying
to
leave
the
license
premise
with
a
bottle
and
the
staff
was
trying
to
prevent
that
from
happening,
which
was
the
right
thing
to
do.
This
escalated
and
got
out
of
control,
I
believe
the
staff
overreacted.
B
C
Believe
their
reaction
was
not
reasonable,
but
I
don't
think
the
initial
reaction
could
have
been
prevented
and
that's
what
they
were
written
up
for
Patron
on
employee,
the
patron
started
it,
but
I
do
believe.
This
is
an
opportunity
for
us
to
request
that
the
staff
be
retrained
and
have
our
rules
and
regulations
reviewed
with
them
in
Spanish
on
de-escalation
and
retraining.
I.
Think
that's
where
there's
a
missing
piece
there
had
they
been
written
up
for
something
differently,
I
might
have
found
a
violation,
but
I
don't
see
a
violation
here.
A
So
no
violation
is
this:
a
correspondence
from
the
board
to
request
a
retraining
and
reviewing
our
rules
and
regs.
A
Yeah
we
can
work
with
Neighborhood,
Services
and
language
language
access
office
to
get
that
correspondence
translating
to
Spanish
for
them
as
well.
C
Oh
thanks
Danny
they
did
submit
video.
I
could
clearly
see
the
fight
in
the
video
some
of
the
fight
I
think
it
continued
off
camera
after
they
were
leaving
the
the
area,
but
it
was
hard
to
see
who
was
staff
and
who
was
patrons
I
could
not
determine
for
my
reviewing
of
it
exactly
who
started
it.
The
testimony
was
that
they
believe
they
could
have
handled
it
differently.
They
have
since
let
the
staff
who
was
part
of
the
aggressor
go
and
they've
retrained
their
staff
and
I.
D
D
What
traveled
me
the
most
actually
is
what
led
up
to
the
pushing
and
shoving
which
they
kind
of
admitted
it
went
on
for
a
long
time
and
I
think
that
with
better,
you
know,
de-escalation
and
maybe
separation
with
the
parties
and
stuff
like
that,
it
might
have
been
avoided.
I
I,
don't
think
it
was
particularly
egregious
but
I
I,
don't
think
it
was
nothing
so
I'm
kind
of
on
that
fence
there,
where
I
don't
want
to
I.
D
D
B
B
Like
yeah,
no
I'm
I'm
in
agreement,
I,
don't
think
that
anything
was
clear.
Perhaps
it
could
be,
especially
if
there's
no
history
of
this
kind
of
things.
Maybe
it's
just
a
warning
with
correspondence,
okay
or.
C
Okay,
so
having
listened
to
both
of
you,
I
I,
do
agree
with
both
of
you,
commissioner,
commissioner,
Saxon
and
I
am
going
to
move
for
no
violation
but
correspondence
from
the
board
regarding
retraining,
the
staff
and
de-escalation.
D
That
sounds
appropriate
I'm,
I'm,
very
much
on
the
fence
about
it,
and
here
you
know,
hearing
everyone's
opinion.
I
think
that's
a
an
appropriate
way
to
handle
this
one.
A
So
it
sounds
like
no
violation
with
correspondence
from
the
board
underscoring
the
importance
of
retraining
the
staff
specifically
on
de-escalation.
A
C
B
D
B
C
A
A
C
Druggings
are
something
that
we're
very
concerned
with
in
the
city.
The
testimony
was
that
a
patron
seemed
fine
when
she
left
the
testimony
was
that
she
was
served
two
drinks
at
The
Establishment,
in
that
she
left
with
her
friends
the
police
reviewed
the
video
and
did
not
see
anything
suspicious,
I,
don't
think
I
can
get
to
to
a
violation
here.
B
C
A
They
were
written
up
for
bottle
service.
Recently
we
held
a
hearing
in
February
and
found
no
violation
so.
A
C
C
D
May
suggest
correspondence
for
the
for
the
record,
so
we
can
kind
of
document
that
this
happened.
Yes
for
the
future,
because
this
was
a
matter
of
different
counts
for
different
rooms.
Right,
yes,.

I
really
