From YouTube: Back-Pack-A-Thon at TD Garden 2017
Description
Mayor Walsh, Superintendent Tommy Chang, The Salvation Army, and Boston Bruins affiliates distribute back-to-school supplies to over 4,000 Boston area families at the 6th Annual Back-Pack-A-Thon at TD Garden.
Now in its 6th year, the Back-Pack-A-Thon distributes over 24,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to under served students in Boston. In addition to school materials, the event offers games, obstacles, and puzzles to emphasize the importance of having both a healthy mind and body.

B
B
And
I
see
a
lot
of
youngsters
a
lot
of
students
and
the
audience
teachers
as
well
I'm
sure
this
was
created
for
you
guys.
You
know
back
when
garden,
neighborhood
charities,
the
city
of
Boston
and
the
Salvation
Army
teamed
up
to
make
sure
all
the
students
had
everything
they
need
to
go
back
to
school
and
have
themselves
a
great
school
year,
because
you
need
supplies
and
things
like
that.
Right,
pencils
and
paper
backpacks,
a
special
thank
you
to
Comcast
for
your
sophomore-level
sponsorship,
a
garden
neighborhood
charities
back
to
school
celebration.
Thank
you.
B
Comcast,
thanks
to
all
of
our
community
partners
today,
at
TD
Garden
you'll
receive
because
of
these
generous
folks
you're,
going
to
receive
something
very
special,
a
backpack
filled
with
school
supplies.
How
cool
is
that
that's
gonna
be
great
you're,
going
to
learn
how
to
be
healthy,
how
to
be
active,
how
to
be
a
good
student,
and
most
of
all,
when
you
learn
here
today,
have
fun
right
now,
repeat
after
me,
what
are
you
taking
home,
a
backpack
filled
with
supplies
ready
a
backpack
filled
with
supplies,
you're
also
going
to
learn
healthy
activities.
B
B
All
right,
one
of
the
activities
are
all
going
to
participate
in
today
and,
and
you
know
that
is
having
fun
and
watching
these
athletes
who
will
perform
here
momentarily.
Ok,
this
is
the
beef,
it
back-to-school
relay.
Ok
and
we
have
some
special
guests
to
help
demonstrate.
We
prepared
a
friendly
competition
between
some
very
special
guests
today.
Help
me
welcome
the
mascot
of
the
Boston
Bruins
blades
blades
Roya
come
on
down.
B
They're
stretching
wages
stretching
you
ready
for
this
John
stretchy.
This
is
what
they
do.
Good
athletes
stretch
before
the
exercise.
Terrific,
all
right,
let's
introduce
our
to
befit
school
teams
right
here.
This
is
for
the
relay
befit
teams,
we're
gonna
start
representing
the
red
team.
I
want
you
to
get
these
folks
ahead
when
they
come
on
up.
First
up
is
the
superintendent
of
Boston
Public,
Schools,
Tommy
Chang.
C
Good
afternoon,
students
so
good
to
see
all
of
you,
my
name
is
Tommy
Chang
I
am
the
superintendent
I'm
a
Boston,
Public
Schools
and
I'm
welcoming
you
back
to
school.
Fausta
public
school
starts
in
exactly
two
weeks,
and
if
you
have
something
to
say,
I'll
give
you
something
I'll
give
you
I'll,
give
you
opportunity
a
little
bit
and
young
people
I
just
want
to
say
a
few
things
to
get
you
excited
about
the
school
year.
C
We
are
going
to
be
upgrading
furniture
in
your
schools
this
year,
we're
going
to
be
giving
you
new,
fresh
lunches,
not
frozen
lunches
and
then
we're
there's
all
sorts
of
other
great
things
that
will
be
happening
in
this
school
year.
I
hope
you
all
had
a
great
fun
summer
that
was
full
of
learning
as
well.
So
welcome
back
to
school.
Everyone.
B
B
B
B
D
B
B
B
B
B
All
right
so
blades
you've
all
met
them
all,
love
them.
As
a
key
member
of
the
Bruins
team,
you
know
how
important
it
is
to
be
what
physically
fit
show
us
look
at
that,
oh
yeah.
All
right
can
you
help
demonstrate
the
four
stations
remember
a
mascot
by
the
way,
never
talks
just
gestures,
all
right,
all
right,
so
blades.
Why
don't
you
demo
what
we're
doing
here
now
we
don't
want
any
injuries.
Here,
sir
coach
Whiteside
you're
gonna
help
out
here
right
with
blades
he's
gonna
go
through
each
drill.
B
B
A
B
B
B
B
We
have
jasmine
I
think
ready
to
go.
Are
you
guys
ready
with
the
red
team,
and
how
do
you
go
to
the
next
station?
You
high-five
the
person
right,
big
high
five
for
the
superintendent
he's
waiting
there
coach.
When
you
want
to
blow
the
whistle
we've
got
the
time
ready
and
go
there's
jasmine.
Look
at
jasmine
skipped.
Another
way.
Wow
boy
looks
like
superintendent
Chang's
playing
a
lot
of
basketball
in
his
day
skip
is
there
it
is
there.
It
is
four
times
around
high
five.
All
right
all
right,
join
the
shot.
B
We're
gonna
start
at
the
hurdles
everybody
in
place
for
the
blue
team.
We
get
the
thumbs-up
from
Coach
Whiteside
that
he's
ready
to
go.
Let's
say
last
minute:
instructions
really
last.
Second,
we
could
start
at
any
moment
so
be
ready
all
right.
The
hurdles
are
up
first
they're
off
and
there
we
go
boy.
These
girls
know
how
to
skip
over
those
hurdles,
and
maybe
ladders
for
watching
the
Celtics
practice
for
real
skip
it
four
times.
B
A
B
B
D
D
Know
just
just
enjoy
the
school
yeah,
listen
to
your
teachers,
listen
to
your
parents
and
take
it
all
in
because
the
future
is
about
you
and
and
the
older
kids
that
are
here
today.
Whatever
your
dreams
and
goals
are
go
for
it
because
you
can
achieve
anything,
you
want
and
be
fit
along
the
way
as
well
and
be
fit
along
the
way
so
again
to
Boston
25.
Thank
you
very
much
into
the
Boston
Bruins.
Thank
you
very
much.
Salvation
Army
in
the
city
of
Boston,
thanks
to
all
the

a
pleasure.

coming
out,

Everyone
can
get

right
over
here.
Okay,

You
can
take
one
home,
we
hope
you
do
and
you
can
get
your
picture
taken

and
enjoy.
