Gourdin Veterans Memorial Park, located in the heart of Nubian Square, will now be home to a memorial plaza dedicated to Justice Gourdin and all African-American veterans of Massachusetts. This project is the result of the steadfast, multi-year efforts of the Veterans and Friends of Gourdin Memorial Park community group. Mayor Janey, along with Parks Commissoner Ryan Woods, Veterans Affairs Commissioner Robert Santiago, and members of the Roxbury community join the group in celebration of the groudbreaking for this new memorial.

Located at 765 Saratoga Street in East Boston, Cuneo Park is a small well-loved park playground frequented primarily by younger children and families.

The ribbon cutting marks the completion of a comprehensive renovation of the entire playground with a design and construction budget of $310,000 funded by Mayor Walsh's Capital Improvement Plan. Currently, 98% of Boston residents live within 10 minutes of a park. The goal is to eventually reach 100%
