Copley
square
is
an
important
historic,
popular
square.
I
mean
for
those
of
us
who
grew
up
in
the
city.
We
spend
our
lives
moving
in
that
space.
It's
really
important
for
us
to
recognize
that
this
is
a
park.
It's
a
place
where
people
come
to
have
lunch
and
where
birds
come,
but
it's
also
an
iconic
space
in
our
city's
history
and
in
the
life
and
health
and
vitality
of
the
city
of
bosnia.

So
we
we
wanted
to
make
sure
that
this
redesign
process
was
really
about
protecting
what
copley
is
and
moving
it
forward
into
the
future.
So
we
had
an
opportunity
to
hear
from
lots
of
folks
just
want
to
thank
people
all
the
folks
who
got
online
and
filled
out
surveys
and
showed
up
to
meetings,
so
we're
going
to
do
the
work
to
maintain
those
things
which
people
love.

Very
excited
about
the
new
renovation
of
copley
square:
this
is
a
traditional
park,
so
something
that
people
don't
want
to
see
a
lot
of
change
but
want
to
see
upgrades
in.
So
how
can
we
use
better
materials,
things
that
are
easy
for
us
on
a
maintenance
level,
but
can
be
taken
care
of
and
last
through
generations?

The
new
design
keeps
the
central
features
of
the
existing
fountain,
while
adding
safety
measures
such
as
a
curb
around
the
upper
edge,
a
shallower
pool
and
increased
lighting
at
night.
The
design
adds
water
action
with
water,
rippling
down
sloped
sides
both
on
the
park
side
and
as
a
new
feature
on
boylston
street.

The
thing
that
was
really
fascinating
and
challenging
in
this
project
was
creating
a
design
that
works
at
many
different
scales,
so
both
for
the
marathon
and
for
first
night,
but
also
at
a
weekly
scale
for
the
farmer's
market
and
then
on
a
daily
level
too.
You
know
how
do
we
maintain
this
space
so
that
we
have
a
park
that
can
incorporate
all
of
these
different
events
successfully,
and
I
think
that
we've
come
up
with
that.

The
opportunity
to
welcome
people
back
to
copley
something
that
they
already
know,
but
maybe
judged
up
a
little
to
that
next
level.
Copley
can
continue
to
be
a
space
that
unites
us
that
invigorates
us.
That
brings
us
joy,
welcomes
people
in
and
creates
opportunities
for
connections
that
maybe
wouldn't
happen
in
the
other
place.
