Description
Charlestown High Turf Community Briefing - August 24, 2022
A
Thank
you.
I
want
to
thank
everybody
for
coming
today.
My
name
is
kathy
baker,
eclipse,
I'm
the
director
of
the
capitol
plan
for
boston
parks
and
I'd
love
to
get
us
out
out
of
out
on
here
close
to
on
time,
so
we
can
go
out
and
still
enjoy
the
at
least
not
raining
weather.
So
thank
you
all
for
coming
and
spending
a
little
time
this
evening
to
talk
about
charlestown
high
school.
A
I
want
to
introduce
a
couple
people
that
are
in
the
maybe
we
can
go
to
the
next.
The
next
slide.
Yes,
we're
gonna,
I'm
gonna
introduce
some
people,
we're
gonna
talk
about
some
big
big
goals
of
the
project,
get
into
some
of
the
details
and
then
answer
any
questions
that
we
can.
This
is
a
is
a
briefing
we
are.
We
haven't
done
this
type
of
project
or
this
type
of
briefing
much.
A
We
just
want
to.
Let
the
community
know
what
we're
planning
when
this
is
is
happening
and
what
they
can
expect
the
impacts
to
be.
I
do
wanna
so
I'll
move
over
into
introductions
again.
My
name
is
kathy
baker.
Eclipse.
A
A
Brandon
kunkel
is
the
discipline
leader
for
weston
and
sampson
and
he's
joined
by
amanda
gaul
who's,
the
project
manager
and
lainey
cohen,
who
is
a
landscape
designer
all
from
weston
and
sampson,
so
weston
sampson
is
a
team
that
we've
worked
with
a
few
times
on
several
other
projects
like
this.
They
were
the
team
that
did
the
madison
park,
turf
renovation
project
there
so
and
they've
done
a
lot
of
other
other
parks
with
boston
park.
A
So
we
have
every
confidence
that
we're
gonna
get
a
top
quality
field
at
the
end
of
this
project.
A
So
we're
here
in
august
to
to
let
you
know
what
what
we're
planning
we're
planning
on
putting
out
the
project
next
month,
we're
gonna
be
submitting
to
concom-
I
think-
maybe
maybe
today
so
as
soon
as
we
can
get
on
the
schedule,
we'll
be
we'll
be
going
through
that
process
putting
out
a
bid
as
soon
as
we
have
that
order
of
conditions
from
concom
and
then
getting
under
construction
as
soon
as
we
can
so,
the
and
we'll
I'll
get
into
the
some
of
the
details
of
that
in
a
minute.
A
A
So
I'm
just
going
to
go
over
some
of
the
the
goal
of
the
project
here
is
to
replace
the
aging
turf
carpet
with
a
new
safe
surface
for
future
users.
The
typical
lifespan
of
the
artificial
turf
is
about
15
years,
and
we
installed
this
in
2007,
so
we're
right
at
that
15-year
15-year
lifespan.
A
The
field
is
showing
signs
that
it's
at
the
end
of
its
life
cycle,
artificial
turf
fields
get
harder
as
they
as
they
age
and
that's
something
that
we
have
seen
through
some
of
the
testing
that
we've
done
in
the
past
several
years.
The
artificial
turf
carpet
fibers
are
also
thinning,
and
some
of
the
seams
are
are
starting
to
pop
and
and
require
some
some
repair
throughout
time.
So
those
are
becoming
more
frequent
issues.
A
So
those
are
the
signs
that
it's
time
for
us
to
replace
the
artificial
char,
so
the
field
carpet
can
be
replaced
with
minimal
change
to
the
drainage
and
the
base
layers.
A
So
we
think
that
this
will
be
a
quick,
quick
impact
project
we
can
get
in
and
out
with
in
pretty
short
order,
we're
not
considering
major
changes
in
use.
We
typically
look
at
a
life
cycle
about
30
to
50
years
for
for
those
major
major
shifts
in
open
spaces.
A
So
this
is
just
an
interim
renovation
to
keep
the
field
safe
and
playable,
so
both
fields
will
remain
largely
as
they
are
programmed
today
and
there
may
be
some
there'll
be
some
minor
revisions
that
we're
gonna
get
into
we're,
not
talking
about
any
changes
to
the
lighting.
A
A
We
also
plan
on
renovating
the
track
surface.
While
we're
we're
doing
this,
you
know
somewhat
disruptive
process.
While
the
field
is
offline,
we're
going
to
take
the
opportunity
to
also
resurface
the
track
and
that
that
will
include
a
typical
track
and
field
amenities.
We're
going
to
I'm
going
to
be
meeting
with
the
track
coach
later
this
week,
so
we'll
be
coordinating
closely
with
the
school
to
make
sure
that
that
the
facility
works
for
them.
A
So
amanda,
do
you
want
to
amanda
and
brandon?
Can
I
turn
it
over
to
you
to
get
into
some
of
the
details.
C
All
right
so
I'll
take
it
away
then
so,
what's
existing
there
now
is,
as
kathy
just
had
briefly
gone
over
an
existing
football
field
in
a
track
and
and
then
also
a
lower
softball
field,
multi-use
area
and
so
right
now
it
has
the
softball
field
inlaid
into
the
turf,
and
then
the
fields
get
striped
with
just,
and
I
think
that
there's
like
an
annual
contract
that
for
the
field
striping
and
right
now
on
that
field,
there's
a
290
by
175
soccer
field,
a
175
by
120
soccer
field,
there's
actually
two
of
those
you
can
see
them
going:
horizontal,
a
305
by
180
lacrosse
field,
which
is
a
bit
shy
of
regulation,
size
and
then
the
60
foot
diamond
softball,
and
then
on
the
football
from
what
I
could
tell
of
the
the
past
aerials.
C
It's
been
striped
with
soccer,
obviously
football
and
some
lacrosse
in
there
as
well,
and
then
on
the
left
side
of
the
football
field.
You
have
your
long
jump
triple
jump
and
on
the
right
you
have
the
the
high
jump
and
the
discus
and
shotput
pads,
so
the
improved.
C
The
improvements
that
we
are
proposing
are
basically
replacing
and
kind
the
synthetic
turf
carpet
that
is
out
there
and
we
will
be
milling
and
overlaying
the
track
surface.
Just
to
we'll
be
milling.
The
first
two
inches
about
and
then
resurfacing
it
so
it'll
be
nice
and
new.
C
Looking
and
on
the
lower
softball
field,
we
will
be
putting
the
it's
almost
like
a
little
league
in
field,
but
it's
set
up
for
softball
in
the
lower
right
corner
and
in
the
upper
left,
we'll
be
putting
in
a
secondary
high
school
softball,
slash
kickball
field,
and
then
the
fields
will
continue
to
be
striped
and
we
can
get
into
just
some
options
of
what
actual
fields
are
desired
and
to
be
striped
there,
so
that
we
can
coordinate
the
tick
marks
for
the
painters,
we'll
also
be
bringing
in
water
from
terminal
street
to
include
a
drinking
fountain
right
here
and
we'll
be
coordinating
with
the
school
to
also
get
water
and
include
a
drinking
fountain
down
here
on
the
left
side
of
the
of
the
track.
C
We
will
be
either
keeping
or
replacing
the
multi-use
work
goals
depending
on
what's
desired
and
that's
another
point
of
conversation
for
later,
we'll
also
be
replacing
or
keeping
the
long
jump
triple
jump
also,
a
point
of
conversation
later
and
then
everything
else
is
pretty.
Oh
and
the
the
dugouts
obviously
will
be
new
and
we'll
be
removing
and
resetting
the
existing
players
benches.
That
are
there
and
also
installing
concrete
pads
and
new
fencing
right
in
front
of
the
dugouts
for
safety
reasons.
B
Getting
in
I
mean
just
real
quick,
if
I
might
add
in
if
we
could
go
jump
back
just
one
slide,
just
to
be
clear:
the
long
jump,
triple
jump,
pits
and
runways
they're
they're,
going
to
remain
it's
just
the
style
that
is
either.
They
are
currently
versus
a
new
modern
day
style
of
long
jump
pit.
So
they
are,
they
aren't
going
away.
B
It's
just
a
matter
of
if
we
are
updating
the
style
and
then
also
just
want
to
point
where
we
actually
have
a
note
that
says:
high
school
softball
field,
that
is
actually
a
baseball
field,
but
as
amanda
noted,
it
could
be
used
for
softball,
because
it
is
synthetic
turf
and
much
like
what
they
use
now
as
a
portable
mound.
So
it
could
be
used
for
multi-sport,
so
it
can
serve
two
functions.
C
So
for
the
field
striping,
we
kind
of
already
went
over
what's
strike
they're
existing
and
we
can
do
the
same
and
have
the
same
tick
marks
for
that.
So
what
will
fit
well
so
permanently?
There
will
be
the
two
softball
fields
or.
C
Little
league
in
fields
and
then
soccer
fields
and
non-regulation
lacrosse
field
will
fit
the
length
on
this
at
the
maximum
is
305,
which
is
what
that
field
currently
is
using
and
the
minimum
for
lacrosse
is
330..
C
So
lacrosse
will
fit
on
this
larger
field
up
here
and
it
could
even
be
a
unified
one,
which
would
be
the
360
by
180,
which
serves
both
boys
and
girls
and
those
wouldn't
be
permanently
inlaid.
It
would
just
be
the
tick
marks
and
then
the
football
would
be
permanently
inlaid
and
I
think
soccer
would
be
painted,
but
we'll
have
to
coordinate
with
kathy
on
that
one.
C
So
we
just
wanted
to
confirm
the
specific
field,
sizes
and
sports
that
you
would
like
to
see
on
each
one
and
then
moving
into
furnishings.
So
there's
currently
a
multi-use
sport
goal
out
there
for
football
and
soccer
at
the
track
field,
and
if
that
is
desired,
to
remain,
then
we
can
keep
it.
As
is
we
can
make
it
a
dedicated
football
goal
post,
whatever
the
preference
is
from
the
community.
C
This
is
the
dugout
that
we're
currently
proposing
it
was
just
put
in
at
mcconnell.
This
is
a
picture
from
mcconnell,
so
we
just
wanted
to
kind
of
show
what
that's
going
to
look
like
and
then
this
is
the
drinking
fountain
and
bottle
refill
station
and
there
will
be
two
of
those.
C
A
So
I
think
we're
gonna
if
people
can
raise
their
hand
if
they
have
comments
or
we
will
open
up
the
chat,
so
you
can
put
some
comments
in
there
and,
if
there's
we'll
just
go
through,
I
think
in
it
puts
it
in
the
order
that
people
raise
their
hands.
So
so
alan,
I
think
you,
if
you
can
unmute
yourself,
you
might
be
able
to.
A
E
Yes,
thank
you
just
a
couple
things.
I'm
the
cysa
president
for
soccer
charlestown
soccer
youth
soccer
and
I
wanted
to
just
you
know.
Thank
you
because
I
this
these
fields
are
need
to
be
redeveloped
and
they
have
been
for
the
last
few
years,
so
I'm
really
excited
to
get
new
fields.
So
I
appreciate
all
the
work
you're
doing
the
the
new
portion.
E
I
wanted
to
talk
about
a
little
bit
on
the
softball
field
itself,
when
you're
putting
in
the
secondary
high
school
softball
kickball
field
that
corner
spot
where
the
home
base
is,
there
is
no
light
there.
I
just
want
to
let
you
know
so
it's
it's
relatively
dark
in
that
area,
so
there's
lights
that
are
on
category
to
the
left
and
kind
of
going
to
the
left
and
the
right,
but
on,
if
there's
a
you
know,
say
a
pitch
or
whatever
that
goes
to
home
plate.
E
A
Yeah,
that's
that's.
Thank
you
for
bringing
that
up.
We
can
see
whether
whether
there's
an
ability
to
aim
some
of
the
lights
in
a
different
different
way.
We
can
ask
that
question
yeah
and
I
think
I
think
the
intention
of
the
secondary
softball
kickball
is
primarily
for
the
for
the
high
school
to
use
it
as
an
auxiliary
space
for
recreational
for
gym,
and
that
kind
of
thing-
and
some
you
know
like
might
be
t-ball
might
be.
You
know
younger
kids,
so
not
playing
late
into
the
day.
A
A
Yeah
there
won't
be
any
dugouts
in
the
same
way.
It'll
just
be
a
backstop.
E
Yeah,
that's
fine.
I
just
wanted
to
kind
of
you
know,
give
the
idea
like
what
that
is
at
night,
because
I,
it
is
a
little
bit
of
an
issue
when
we're
playing,
because
we
have
practices
for,
like
our
thousand
members
to
practice
from
six
to
nine
thirty,
that
sort
of
thing
yeah.
Are
you
on
that
same
field?
Are
you
gonna
put
the
two
small
and
we
call
them
u10
soccer
fields,
basically
they're
the
same
as
what
we
have
on
the
other
field?
E
E
A
Yeah,
yes,
I
think
the
the
way
we
manage
that
now
is
it's
largely
striped
seasonally
with
paint.
So
we
have
some
flexibility
to.
We
want
to
continue
to
have
that
flexibility
to
change
the
configuration
if
we
need
to
or
adapt
as
time
time
goes
on.
So
I
think
we
like
this,
the
painting
seasonally,
because
it
does
give
us
flexibility
and
those
seems
fewer-
seems
to
be
vulnerable
over
time.
E
Which
is
great
because
I,
like
you,
know
it's
the
the
both
fields
are
multi-use.
I
mean
I'm
not
sure
how
much
information
you
have,
but
they
are
lacrosse
soccer
baseball,
softball
football
across
the
board
are
used
all
the
time
and
doesn't
matter
what
weekday,
maybe
a
little
bit
less
in
the
summer,
but
coming
into
fall
some
winter
mostly
spring.
E
These
fields
are
used
from
you
know:
5
30
to
9
30,
not
not
including
the
high
school,
what
they
do
with
it.
So
that's
just
a
heads
up
and
and
and
right
now
it's
very
doable
in
regards
to
how
we
are
functioning
between
all
of
our
programs.
E
But
again
you
know
we
would
look
at
those
same
permanent
lines.
I
don't
know
painted
lines
whatever
that
you're
referring
to
that
we've
had
before
in
the
past.
E
You
thank
you
for
those
comments.
The
last
thing
I
had
just
just
mentioned
the
the
the
goal
and
the
on
the
football
field
you
had
the
multi-use
goal
is
that
a
regulation
adult
size
soccer
goal
by
the
way.
B
It
would
be
it's
just
a
that
was
just
a
sample
image
for
folks
to
understand
with
the
mold
people.
F
Hello,
I
am
currently
charged
on
youth
football
and
chairing
president
I'm
actually
on
the
football
field
as
we
speak,
and
I'm
just
trying
to
get
a
timeline
on
when
this
project
are
you
expecting
it
to
start
in
september,
because
these
these
fields
are
in
full
use
right
now,
all
the
way,
through,
like
november.
A
Yeah,
so
that's
a
great
question
and
we
also
got
the
question
in
the
chat
and
I
went
to
talk
to
talk
in
more
specifics
about
it,
so
we're
planning
on
putting
it
out
to
bid
in
september
and
get
get
bids
back
no
later
than
october.
A
Once
we
have
a
the
process
is
that
we
would
have
a
turf
submittal
and
then
once
we
order
the
turf
it's
about
45
to
60
days
until
the
turf
is
delivered.
That's
the
current
seems
to
be
the
current
lead
time
for
that
material,
so
there's
likely
to
be
no
construction
activity
until
november
the
earliest.
A
A
A
He
doesn't
need
to
do
a
little
bit
of
trenching
work,
but
that's
pretty
minor.
So
there's
not
a
lot
of
earth
work.
That
needs
to
be
done
in
in
dry
weather,
there's
no
growing
in
period,
so
we
hope
that
we
can
get
this
in
a
pretty
take
advantage
advantage
of
the
of
the
winter.
A
F
Okay,
that
was
my
concern
only
because
we
are
we
every
one
of
us
use
this
field
on
a
daily
monday.
Through
friday
weekends.
It
gets
used
very
regularly
during
the
fall
and
we're
just
starting.
I
know
fall
ball
is
starting
for
softball
soccer
starts
soon
lacrosse,
so
I
just
want
to
make
sure
that
these
kids
have
access
to
a
field
for
their
seasons
yeah.
So.
A
That
is
my
big
concern.
We
will
work
closely
with
the
permitting
department
to
make
sure
that
that
that
we're
communicating
when
we
think
we're
going
to
be
having
to
take
the
field
offline
and
we
want
to
we
want
to
be
conscious
of
the
you
know-
there's
there's
a
huge
demand
for
for
field
time
in
charlestown.
So
we
want
to
be
aware
of
that.
G
A
You
diane
see,
if
you
can
have
you
unmute
yourself.
H
Hi
there
thank
you
so
much.
I
may
be
the
only
one
that
doesn't
really
have
a
good
sense
of
this,
but
I'm
concerned
about
the
turf
itself.
Of
course
we
want
our
kids
to
have
access
to
playing
fields.
I
would
like
to
see
more
playing
fields,
and
I
would
like
to
see
natural
ones,
so
I'm
concerned
in
the
most
vulnerable
part
of
our
neighborhood
next
to
the
bunker
hill
project
in
mishwan
and
draining
into
the
sprouts,
which
is
where
people
actually
grow
food
to
eat.
A
So
we
are
looking
to
replace
the
existing
artificial
turf,
so
there's
there's
no
change
in
material.
It's
going
to
be
a
new
new
material.
The
sprouts
is,
is
topographically
uphill
from
this
and
the
information
that
we,
you
know,
the
what
we
hear
from
the
from
the
users
of
the
field
are
that
this
is.
This
is
something
that
provides
them.
A
lot
of
functionality
allows
them
to
play
longer
seasons
in
more
types
of
weather.
I.
A
H
H
A
Turf
carpet
fibers,
which
are
they
we
require,
that
the
contractor
provide
documentation,
that
they
are
free
of
pfas
materials
and
the
the
crumb
rubber
and
sand
infill
is
virgin
material.
It
is
not
recycled
crumb
rubber.
Those
are
some
of
the
the
the
environmental
concerns
have
been
raised
by
by
others
in
you
know
across
the
country,
and
we
feel
that
this
is
a.
This
is
a
a
reasonable
product
to
install
it's
one
that
we
have
installed
elsewhere.
The
specifications
match
the
one
that
we
installed
at
langone.
A
It's
the
same
design
team,
the
one
at
clifford
is
or
sorry
not
at
clifford.
Adam
mcconnell
is
a
little
bit
different
because
of
that
specific
sites
requirements,
but
it
matches
matches
material
that
we
have
installed
elsewhere
in
the
city,
and
we
feel
that
that
is
the
safest
and
and
most
responsible
product
that
will
allow
us
the
flexibility
to
provide
recreational
opportunities
to
kids
and
adults
in
the
city.
H
A
We
can
provide
reports
if
you
if
you
need
yes.
Thank
you.
Thank
you
joanna
I'm
going
to
ask
you
to
unmute
yourself.
G
Thank
you.
So
I
just
I
have
a
question,
but
if
I
could
just
ask
a
few
before
you
answer,
that
would
be
great.
The
first
is:
are
you
replacing
the
fields?
Are
you
removing
or
and
replacing,
or
are
you
planning
to
just
you
know,
make
fifth
grade
in
places
that
are
deemed
by
your
office
to
be
dangerous,
so
the
question
I
have
is:
are
you
tearing
them
out
and
starting
from
scratch,
or
are
you
doing
a
fix
in
certain
places
and
using
you
know,
basically
the
same
same
sort
of
underlay?
G
That's
there
today.
The
other
thing
I
would
you
know:
okay,
the
trenching
that
you
mentioned,
I'm
looking
at
the
map,
definitely
breaks
into
some
of
the
tree.
Canopy
I've
written
down
the
trees
that
are
there
with
photographs,
and
I
photographed
it
and
made
notes.
So
I
would
ask
that
you
know
in
preparation
for
this
project.
No
trees
are
removed
to
get
them
out
of
the
way
which
seems
to
happen
in
the
city
often,
and
I
would
also
ask
that
no
trees
be
removed
for
any
of
this
project.
G
I
also
want
to
ask
what
your
plan
is
kathy.
As
far
as
getting
public
notice
out
to
the
thousands
of
kids
that
use
this
field,
not
just
in
charleston
but
across
the
city,
because
the
gmax
scores
are
over
200
in
over
five
places,
I've
sent
you
the
document.
What
that
means
is
that
when
a
kid.
G
J
So
I'm
going
to
interrupt
miss
hines,
just
as
some
background.
I
understand
that
she
had
a
company
that
we're
not
familiar
with
come
out
onto
the
field
at
some
point
in
jul
in
july
and
conduct
some
gmax
fasting.
She
forwarded
those
reports
to
us
in
the
middle
of
the
night
last
night
in
advance
of
this
meeting,
so
we
obviously
have
not
had
a
chance
to
review
those
we're
not
familiar
with
the
company
we'll
need
to
engage
our
g
max
testing
contractor
to
review
those
as
well.
J
Obviously,
if
there
are
any
parts
of
the
field
that
are
nuts
that
are
not
suitable
right
now
or
over
the
200
mark
and
we'll
repair
those
in
advance
of
this
of
this
project
going
forward
and
before
the
fall
sports
start
so,
and
we
did
have
gmax
testing
done
back
in
the
springtime
prior
to
summer,
use
as
well,
so
just
to
give
a
little
background
on
that.
J
But
but
we
are
we're
not
gonna
talk
about
the
the
g-max
results
that
were
forwarded
to
us
in
the
middle
of
the
night
last
night.
Thank
you.
A
And
and
joanna
to
address
a
couple
of
your
other
questions,
we're
gonna.
We
do
not
plan
on
removing
any
trees
as
part
of
this
project
if
the
trenching
that
we're
doing
is
going
to
be
primarily
through
the
paved
areas,
and
then
we
will
repave
those
so
that
we're
not
impacting
or
there's
as
minimal
impact
to
the
planted
areas
as
possible.
A
The
the
project.
What
we're
planning
to
do
is
remove
the
infill.
That's
in
the
in
the
turf
system,
remove
the
turf
carpet
itself,
re-grade,
just
roll
the
existing
base
keep
all
the
existing
base
stone.
There
keep
the
existing
drainage,
that's
there
and
put
in
a
new
terp
system,
new
turf
carpet
and
then
new
infill,
and
that's
largely
the
extent
of
of
the
the
modifications
that
we're
going
to
be
making
to
the
to
the
field
surface
itself.
A
So
this
is
is
to
describe
it
as
a
we're
not
going
to
be
selectively
removing
places
we're
going
to
be
removing
the
entire
field
surface
and
replacing
it
with
a
new
field
surface.
There's
going
to
be
very
little
work
done
below
that
that
surface.
K
K
K
K
K
K
So
as
the
field
was
being
installed
concerned,
residents
who
knew
of
the
many
test
results
showing
pfas
and
synthetic
fields
obtained
brand
new
unused
samples
and
sent
them
to
an
accredited
lab.
They
found
that
the
plastic
carpet
and
shock
pad
both
had
elevated
fluorine
levels,
which
clearly
indicate
the
presence
of
pfas
chemicals.
K
This
information
was
shared
with
the
city
council
who,
despite
objections
from
the
engineering
consultants,
unanimously
voted
to
have
more
comprehensive
testing
performed
on
the
news
on
new
samples
of
the
field
components.
Thereafter,
we
also
received
an
admission
from
the
manufacturer
that
they
do
indeed
use
a
pfast
polymer
to
produce
the
plastic
carpet.
K
The
city's
test
results
came
back
with
numerous
known
and
unknown
pfas
present
in
all
parts
of
the
field
that
includes
the
infill,
the
shock
pad
and
the
plastic
carpet
itself.
So
now
we
have
a
synthetic
turf
field
with
leachable
pfas
compounds
sitting
on
top
of
a
regional
storm
water
treatment
system
that
flows
directly
into
our
watershed.
K
A
Thank
you
for
that.
I'm
gonna
I'm
going
to
to
move
on
in
the
in
the
interest
of
time.
I'm
going
to
ask
I'm
actually
going
to
ask
ipad
nico,
since
we
haven't
heard
from
you
to
unmute
yourself
and
and
see
if
I
can
get
that
to
work.
A
Ipad
nico,
are
you,
are
you
allowed?
Are
you
able
to
unmute.
L
Yourself
hi,
can
you
hear
me
now?
Yes,
thank
you
hi.
My
name
is
kelly
tucker
lifelong
resident
of
charlestown-
and
I
just
have
a
few
questions
that
I
I
know
that
joanna
has
concerned,
but
do
they
have
statistics
that
people
have
gotten
sick
from
this
and
everything
because
I've
never
heard
of
such
in
the
whole
time
that
the
field
has
been
there?
That's
just
one
of
my
questions.
The
other
thing
is,
do
her
kids
play
in
our
field
or
do
they
play
elsewhere?
L
I
know
she's
she's
not
on,
but
I
just
had
a
few
questions
on
that
and
you
know
I
I'm
alumni
for
the
high
school
class
of
81,
so
it
just
bewilders
me
that
you
know
you're
concerned
about
all
these
things
and
sprouts
and
that,
but
it's
I
don't
hear
of
anybody
from
sprouts
that
has
ever
been
affected
from
the
vegetation
that
they
eat
and
everything
or
that
it
has
caused
any
harm
to
anybody.
L
Are
our
children,
I've
never
heard
of
such
and
I'm
pretty
well
known
in
my
town,
very
well,
outspoken,
too,
but
I've
never
heard
of
such
so
it's
kind
of
bewildering
to
me
that
they
have
all
these
concerns
all
of
a
sudden,
and
that
and
the
other
thing
is,
is
counselor,
is
gabriela
on
or
is
her
rep
on.
A
I
think
there
is,
I
think
there
is
somebody
from
from
councillor
coletta's
office,
okay,.
F
A
Unmute
yourself,
you
just
raised
your
hand
and
I'm
happy
to
unmute.
L
Elaine
I
have
a
cup
is:
could
I
ask
about
council
gabriella
stand
on
this?
You
know,
council
coletta,
I'm
sorry
on
this,
because
it's
just,
but
I
you
know
it's
bewildering
to
me
that
you
know
we
have
we've
had
that
field,
that's
utilized
every
single
day
by
multiple
multiple.
You
know
children
as
well
as
adults.
It's
it
was
one
of
the
nicest
in
the
city
when
it
was
first
done,
and
it's
still
it
still.
You
know,
should
stay
that
way.
L
I'm
grateful
that
you're
finally
redoing
it
no
offense
to
parks
department,
but
I'm
grateful
that
they're
finally
looking
at
and
doing
something
in
our
community
in
a
positive
way
like
eden
street,
although
that's
taking
forever.
I
hope
this
doesn't
take
that
long,
because
it
is
utilized
more
you
know
than
than
than
others
in
the
community,
I'm
just
bewildered
by
that
lady
joanna
and
the
other
lady
from
new
hampshire.
L
I
understand
about
a
non-profit
in
your
statistics
or
whatever,
but
I
just
want
to
know.
Can
you
be
factual
on
the
harm
that
it
has
created
against
our
children
and
the
people
eating
the
vegetation
is
about
that's
all
pretty
simplified.
I
mean
you
have
the
chance
to
do
a
beautiful
field
over
and
you're
trying
to
stop
it
because
of
concerns.
But
if
your
statistics
prove
that
that
it's
affecting
them,
then
I'll
I'll,
understand
that.
But
I
don't
as
of
yet
okay.
I
To
am
I
unmuted?
Yes,
oh
okay,
I'm
the
charlestown
liaison
for
council
of
coletta's
office,
and
I
do
have
a
comment.
The
counselor
says
as
an
environment
and
climate
conscious
counselor.
She
sees
the
benefits
of
having
a
turf
field
as
it
relates
to
water,
usage
and
permeability.
I
There
are
safety
benefits
of
having
turf
fields
as
they're,
proven
to
safeguard
against
brain
injuries,
including
concussions.
She
also
sees
the
economic
benefit
to
the
city
and
its
resources,
with
limited
maintenance
that
can
go
towards
other
sports
related
amenities.
The
health
and
well-being
of
our
kids
are
paramount.
If
there
is
data
out
there,
that
is
peer,
reviewed
and
widely
accepted
by
scientists,
she's
happy
to
review
and
take
it
under
advisement.
Thank
you
so
much.
I
Thank
you.
I
hope
I
answered
your
question
kelly.
A
Thank
you,
jack.
I'm
gonna
ask
you
to
meet
yourself
because
I
don't
think
we've
heard
from
you
yet.
M
Hi
everybody
jack
chavink
from
charlestown
girls,
softball
and
I
have
been
the
president
for
31
years-
we've
been
using
that
field
since
it
was
done
over
in
turf
since
2007,
and
I
can
honestly
tell
you
we
had
more
injuries
when
it
was
a
grass
and
dirt
field
down
there.
It
was
a
disgrace,
so
the
turf
field
is
a
hundred,
we're
100
behind
it,
and
I
can
speak
for
all
the
parents
and
all
the
kids
that
are
associated
with
my
program,
we're
down
there
in
the
spring
summer
fall
and
sometimes
in
the
winter.
M
When
the
when
there's
no
snow
on
the
field,
we're
100
behind
it.
I
have
a
couple
of
questions.
There
was
a
woman
on
there
earlier
that
was
saying
something
about
michigan
park
being
so
close
to
it.
I
don't
think
she
really
lives
here,
because
michelan
park
is
on
the
other
side
of
charlestown,
first
off
and
all
the
person
from
new
hampshire.
M
M
The
softball
field
is
that
going
to
be
one
color
in
the
infield,
because
the
way
it's
existing
now
it
looks
like
a
little
league
baseball
field
and
we're
trying
to
get
away
from
that,
because
baseball
doesn't
use
the
field
at
all.
It's
used
by
softball
players
on
the
softball
field
and
the
other
part
of
it
is
at
the
end
on
the
kickball
field.
You
said:
there's
going
to
be
a
backstop
on
that
end.
Also.
I
just
wanted
to
check
on
that.
A
Yeah
we
had
talked
about
that
yeah,
so
we're
going
to
add
a
back
stop
to
there.
There's
not
going
to
be
any
any
dugouts
but
we'll
we'll
add
an
area
where
I
think,
maybe
paint
in
the
basis.
A
And
I
think
I
think
if,
if
the
single
color
in
field
for
the
main
softball
field
is
preferred,
I
think
we
can.
We
can
accommodate
that.
A
And
I
think
there
was
a
oh
well.
I
will
move
on
alan,
I'm
gonna.
Have
you
unmute
yourself
again,
yep.
E
I
want
to
just
add
in
regards
what
jack
said,
because
he's
been
here
longer
than
all
of
us.
I
think
there
was
more
injuries
on
the
field
I
think
later
in
the
last
couple
years,
especially
in
the
soccer
when
people
fell
because
the
the
turf
was
getting
was
kind
of
beaten
down.
E
So
I
was
seeing
more
injuries
like
arm
injuries
or
leg
injuries
based
off
the
turf
field,
so
I'm
very
very
happy
that
we're
going
to
be
moving
to
a
new
one
so
because
I
know
there's
going
to
be
less
injuries
from
that.
I
did
have
a
comment
when
from
kelly's
question
in
regards
to
the
start
of
the
construction.
So,
if
you're
looking
at
because
I
was
on
the
impression
we're
starting
mid-october-
obviously
it
sounds
like
pushback.
I
get
it
so
does
that
mean
we're?
A
A
So
we
we're
hearing
it's
45
to
60
days
on
the
turf
which
is
the
major
lead
item,
and,
and
so
we
think,
where
we
can,
we
can
gain
the
time
is
by
compressing
the
the
demo
period
to
a
couple
of
weeks
before
the
turf
arrives,
so
that.
A
Of
of
you
know,
start
and
stop
that
we're
really
like
we're
putting
every
effort
into
into
the
demo
and
doing
that
as
a
shorter
period
of
time
as
possible,
so
that
the
downtime
is
is
limited.
But
we
don't
know
what
the
winter
conditions
are
going
to
be.
And,
and
you
know,
if
we
get
a
blizzard
or
a
series
of
blizzards
like
a
few.
E
A
So
we
will
be
in
touch,
as
you
know,
as
the
construction
progresses
about
when
we
can
get
back
on
the
field
and
we
may
have
to
phase
the
opening.
I
think
we
can
try
to
prioritize
opening
the
multi-purpose
field.
The
the
there
is
a
temperature
sensitivity
to
the
track
surface,
so
it's
possible
that
that
may
have
to
linger
a
little
bit,
but
you
know
that
may
not
preclude
us
from
getting
back
on
the
multi-purpose
field,
so
we'll
be
in
touch
about
that
erica.
I
don't
think
I've
had.
A
D
Hear
me:
yes,
thank
you
hi
my
name's
erica
walsh,
I'm
from
I
live
at
98a
dunstable
street
in
charlestown
mass
I've
been
a
part
of
associated
with
the
chaucer
girls
softball
program
for
years.
My
daughter
plays
for
them
as
well.
We
are
allowed
to
play
year
round,
which
you
know
in
most
communities.
You
can't
do
that.
If
you
go
to
a
dirt
field,
you're
talking
flooding,
you're
talking,
you
know,
parks
and
rec,
guys
getting
you
know
over
time.
You
I
feel
like
it
would
be
more
costly
for
the
city.
D
If
it
was
a,
you
know,
a
mud
field.
I
just
think
you
know.
I
understand
you
guys
have
to
do
some
updating
and
that's
greatly
appreciated
from
us,
because
it's
needed,
but
there
are
so
many
kids
that
benefit
from
this
hundreds
and
hundreds
of
kids
that
benefits
from
this
field
being
the
way
it
is
being
able
to
be
year-round
to
go
down
and
play.
You
know
a
game
of
pickup
football
whenever
they
want.
You
know
you
can't
do
that
in
a
lot
of
other
communities.
D
So
I
think
that
we
should
keep
with
the
turf
and
you
know,
go
forward
with
the
construction.
I
appreciate
your
time.
Thank
you.
Thank.
A
You
joanna
I'm
gonna,
ask
you
to
unmute
yourself.
G
Oh,
thank
you
so
much.
I
just
want
to
say
for
the
record
my
kids
all
play
on
these
fields,
and
I
want
them
to
continue
to
play
on
fields
in
charlestown.
I
do
also
think
that
there
should
be
more
and
that
during
this
renovation,
that
the
state
should
open
up
the
bunker
hill
community
college
field
so
that
there
isn't
a
day
missed
for
any
of
these
kids.
G
J
K
G
J
G
A
So
I
do
just
want
to
just
give
a
little
background
about
what
some
of
the
back
and
forth
is.
We
did
receive
these
reports
that
the
field
is
harder
than
it
should
be,
and
we
are
we
just
received
those
this
morning,
so
we're
still
digesting
that
we
want
to
get
our
our
own
testing
service
out
there
to
confirm
the
results
and
take
a
look
at
them.
Evaluate
them.
A
If
we
do
need
to
do
some
remediation
to
the
fields
in
order
to
make
it
safe
for
the
fall,
we're
going
to
take
care
of
that.
But
we
were
just
made
aware
of
this
today,
so
we
feel
a
little
blindsided
by
that.
So
nico,
I'm
going
to
ask
you
to
mute
yourself
again.
L
No,
I'm
not
I'm
not
music
yeah.
We
can
hear
you,
okay,
just
god.
I
don't
know,
maybe
that
lady's
husband
should
ask
the
mayor's
husband,
because
I
think
they're,
good
friends
joanna.
I
would
love
to
meet
you
someday
honey
name,
the
place
I'll
meet
your
zooms
god
damn
it.
Excuse
me
this.
L
This
is
something
that's
imperative
and
needs
to
be
done
if
she
can
provide
me
with
statistics
of
anybody
that
is
is
ill
related
to
this
then
I'll
be
her
biggest
advocate
alongside
her,
but
until
then
your
nuts
and
it
needs
to
be
done
period
period
period.
It
has
to
be
done
for
the
well-being
and
safety
of
our
children
in
the
community,
and
you
say
your
husband
and
your
kids
use
it.
Then
you
should
want
something
like
this
good
god,
almighty,
lady
good
god,
almighty.
What
you're
gonna
take.
A
You
know
so
we
want
to
we
want
to
thank
you.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
that
the
field
is
is
playable
in
the
short
term
and
long
term,
and
that's
why
we're
where
we
are
moving
forward.
A
F
L
You
have
gravel
and
rocks
kids
are
getting
hurt,
busted
knees
more
so
than
then
on
the
artificial
turf
concussions
I
mean:
what's
it
going
to
take
for
this
lady,
you
know
I
love
trees
too
honey.
I
did
the
tree
project
with
the
city
of
boston.
They
have
it
every
year
join.
You
can
have
all
the
trees.
You
want
love.
Thank
you.
I
apologize
kathy,
no
disrespect
to
you
and
the
gentleman
didn't
get
his
name
and
I
apologize
to
you.
I
meant
no
disrespect,
sir,
but
I
don't
like
you
know,
I'm
crazy,
but
she's
not
she's.
A
Joanna
thank
you
so
I
think
so
yeah.
Our
primary
goal
is
to
is
to
create
a
safe
field
for
for
kids
to
play
on
kids
and
results
to
play
on
and
the
and
the
students
at
charlestown
high
school
as
well.
So
there's
lots
of
there's
lots
of
people
who
who
want
this
to
including
us
who
want
this
to
be
a
safe
field.
So
I
do
just
wanna.
I
I
think
joanna
did
raise
a
question
about
the
bunker
hill
community
college.
We
do
not
control
that
site.
I
A
By
bunker
hill
community
college,
we're
we're
absolutely
willing
to
reach
out
and
and
issue
some
voice,
our
support
for
the
community
to
use
that
field.
While
these
are
offline,
but
that's
not
something
that
we
have
control
over
so,
but
we
we
can
lend
our
support
to
that
effort
as
well.
So
this
is
only
going
to
be.
We
want
to
impact
this
for
as
short
a
period
of
time
as
possible
and
and
ryan
playground.
Fields
will
remain
open
during
the
period
and
and
barry
is
also
open.
A
And
I
and
I
think,
there's
some
other
questions
that
have
come
up
in
the
chat.
We
are
going
to
preserve
this
chat,
so
we
can
so
that
we
can
address
any
of
the
issues
that
I
think
we
missed
in
the
in
any
verbal
comments.
A
If
there
are
people
who
I
think
we
are
capturing,
the
the
people
who
have
logged
on
capturing
email
addresses
that
so
I
will
be
able
to
send
out
a
construction
update
of
when
we
are
starting
construction
when
construction
fences
are
going
up
when
we
expect
to
be
taking
down
those
fences
and
how
we're
going
to
be
phasing
the
opening.
A
A
So
my
my
email
address
is
kathy.baker
dash,
eclipse
boston.gov
you
can
reach
out
to
me.
I
like
to
say
my
email
is
a
swiftly
flowing
river.
So
if
you
don't
get
an
email
back
from
me
immediately,
just
please
please
bear
with
me
while
I,
while
I
wade
through
that,
so
so
please
reach
out
to
me
and-
and
I
hope
we
have
your
email
address,
so
we
can
reach
out
to
you
and
we'll
be
sending
out
information
as
we
as
we're
closer
to
starting
construction
about
when
we
can.
A
When
you
can
expect
to
see
some
changes,
we
do
have
a
website.
I
believe
we
do
christine
is
that
correct?
Did
we
set
up?
We
should
have
a
website
on
cityofboston.gov
on
boston.gov,
for
updates.
L
A
Yeah,
so
we
will
also
put
construction
updates
up
on
that
boston.gov
website.
A
So
I'm
just
going
to
do
one
last
check
to
see
if
there's
any
anybody
who
has
any
hands
that
they
want
to
raise
any
final
comments.
A
And
I
do.
I
do
really
appreciate
all
the
all
the
thoughts
and
all
the
comments
and
all
the
passion
about
about
creating
safe,
safe
fields
for
our
kids.
So
thank
you,
everyone
for
your
time.
I
really
appreciate
it
and
we
will
be
you'll,
be
hearing
from
me
when
we
are
closer
to
to
construction
and
things
are
moving
along
nico.
Did
you
have
one
more
one
more
comment.
L
Yes,
I
just
wanted
to
say
thank
you
to
you
join
a
hell
of
a
meeting
and
thank
you
to
that
gentleman.
I
still
don't
know
your
name
and
I
apologize,
but
thank
you
for
running
a
hell
of
a
meeting
and
keeping
it
in
line.
I
sincerely
appreciate
it's
about
dying
people
stick
up
to
those
nuts.
