From YouTube: Unity Park Ribbon Cutting
Description
Mayor Martin J. Walsh joins KaBOOM and Love Your Block to break ground on a brand new park built on a formerly empty lot in Dorchester.
A
But
we
have
a
few
invited
guests
that
we
just
want
to
have
speak
and
say
a
few
words
before
we
get
back
to
work,
so
first
I
want
to
introduce
for
those
of
you
who
are
too
here.
This
morning
you
may
remember:
Bill,
Maher
executive.
Vice
president
and
group
head
of
Wells
Fargo
equipment
finance,
give
bill
round
of
applause.
B
Thank
Brian
good
afternoon
to
everybody,
as
Brian
just
said,
I'm
bill
Mayer
not
to
be
confused
with
the
mayor,
I'm,
the
other
guy,
but
it
is
incredible
to
think
that
we
were
welcoming
everyone
here
just
six
short
hours
ago,
and
now
we've
got
this
incredible
park,
but
a
ribbon-cutting
ceremony
with
the
mayor
to
officially
dedicate
the
unity
playground.
Just
terrific.
This
thing
would
have
not
happened.
To
wasn't
for
the
two
hundred
plus
volunteers
it
showed
up
today,
you
guys
showed
up
hold
up
your
sleeves
did
a
tremendous
job
and
gradual
around
the
farm.
B
B
I
want
to
thank
them
for
their
commitment
and
for
everything
that
they
do.
In
addition,
on
behalf
of
Wells
Fargo
and
all
the
team
members,
you
can
pick
us
up
pretty
easily
with
the
red
shirts.
It
is
an
honor
to
be
here
today
in
helping
develop.
This
part
finally,
I'd
like
to
thank
saboom
for
their
dedication
to
making
sure
that
all
children
have
a
life.
That's
filled
with
play,
and,
lastly,
and
most
importantly,
I'd
like
to
thank
the
residents
and
the
kids
enjoy,
have
tons
of
fun
and
with
that
I'd
like
to
introduce
chief
snap.
C
Good
afternoon,
everybody
you
guys
lucked
out
is
a
really
good
day
supposed
to
rain
by
tomorrow,
so
I'm
glad
we
were
able
to
bang
most
of
the
work
out
today.
Like
you
said,
my
name
is
Jerome
Smith
I
am
mayor.
Walsh
Achieva,
civic
engagement
for
the
city
of
Boston
and
I
want
to
thank
you
guys
for
all
the
hard
work
and
everything
that
she
did
today.
C
This
is
a
couple
people
that
were
part
of
the
team
wanted
acknowledged,
I
want
to
start
off
with
my
team
or
if
the
mayor's
office
of
neighborhood
services
led
by
Kyra
Fox,
my
director
of
outreach
and
service,
he
will
hopefully
fall
together.
You
did
amazing
work,
helping
poor
day
with
everybody
and
being
part
of
the
team.
We
have
the
mayor's
office
of
strategic
partnerships,
I
think
I
said,
which
is
over
there.
You
had
a
big
play,
big
role
there,
the
Department
of
Neighborhood
Development,
hey,
come
over
here.
C
There
we
go
and
then
we
get
to
our
outside
partners,
Wells,
Fargo
and
kaboom.
Thank
you
guys
so
much
for
everything
that
you
guys
came
out
and
volunteered
to
help
pull
the
park
together
and
what
was
a
vacant
lot,
but
what
we
did
on
the
city
level
through
Kyra
Fox
is
a
little
program.
We
have
like
love
your
block.
C
C
D
I
really
can't
say
thank
you
enough,
just
to
look
out
and
see
everybody.
That's
come
to
help
make
this
day
what
it
is
and
to
look
and
see
how
quickly
a
piece
of
land
can
be
transformed
into
something,
as
beautiful
as
this
I
just
like
to
thank
every
one
of
you
all
for
your
time
and
your
volunteer
to
do
so.
There
are
many
many
people,
I
could
say.
I
know,
I
would
probably
forget
someone,
so
I
don't
want
to
do
that,
but
the
DMV,
the
mayor's
office,
Tyra
Bryan,
Kabul,
Wells
Fargo.
D
D
This
occasion,
and
just
looking
at
the
first
piece
of
play,
equipment
for
the
children,
we
have
many
children
in
this
area
and
they're
gonna
appreciate
that
I.
Thank
you
so
much
for
what
you
all
have
done
for
the
neighborhood.
It's
not
just
this
play
area,
there's
a
garden
that
we
have
also
and
they've
even
contributed
to
that,
and
we
thank
you
so
much.
I
am
Sondra
orange
Garrett
I
found.
D
D
E
I'm
gonna
talk
about
you
guys
in
a
minute.
Let
me
just
a
few
more
thank
yous
I
want
to
give
as
well
I
do
want
to
thank
bill
in
Wells
Fargo.
Thank
all
of
you
all.
The
volunteers
are
coming
out
today,
just
for
people
that
are
here
that
don't
understand
this
Wells
Fargo
is
not
just
here
today,
they're
invested
in
our
city
and
so
many
different
projects
in
so
many
different
ways
very
quietly
and
I
want
to
thank
Wells
Fargo
for
your
commitment
to
our
city.
I
know
you
love
our
city
and
I.
Thank
you.
E
All
the
folks
on
kaboom,
thank
you.
This
is
like
my
10th
playground,
I
think
since
I've
been
there
that
I've
been
coming
to
and
it's
amazing
when
you
come
in
and
literally
transform
an
area
and
transform
a
piece
of
land,
as
misunder
said
off
in
that
that
land
is
usually
vacant
and
there's
a
lot
of
stuff
on
it
and
you
guys
come
in
and
ladies
come
in,
and
you
do
some
amazing
work.
Volunteering.
Thank
you
very
much.
So
nice
round
of
applause
for
kaboom,
today's
regular
I.
E
E
E
All
of
us
see
all
of
the
city,
folks
that
are
here
today
from
the
different
Department.
Thank
you.
I
want
to
give
a
special
shout-out
to
Kyra
Fox
when
she
was
an
OH&S
coordinator
for
Roxbury
for
many
years,
and
then
we
started
a
program
love
you
block
her
idea
and
we've
taken
it
and
put
it
in
so
many
different
ways
and
use
it
in
so
many
different
ways
to
start
off
as
a
it's
cleaning
the
street,
and
then
it
went
on
to
designing
a
street
and
it's
going
on
to
to
building
a
playground.
E
So
thank
you
kind
of
your
amazing
vision
and
what
you're
doing
here
and
all
our
own
assets
here.
Thank
you
on
behalf
of
myself
and
we're
joined
by
councilor
ingenious
with
us
today,
her
area,
her
district
here
myself,
we're
working
to
make
sure
that
we
do
everything
we
can
to
coordinate
efforts
here.
E
I
was
on
this
street
two
years
ago,
and
we
were
here
with
Miss
Sandra
and
the
Tennis
Association
as
a
cookout
going
on,
and
we
were
talking
about
this
park
right
here
and
we're
saying
we
need
to
do
something
with
it
and
we're
saying
that.
How
do
we?
How
do
we
make
some
investments
and
when
I
went
back
to
the
office,
one
of
the
first
people
I
talked
with
Schiller
Dylan
who's.
E
Here
from
from
the
head
of
housing
in
the
city
of
Boston,
a
chinchilla,
we
got
to
do
something
with
this
lot
and
and
I'm
glad
to
see
with
a
lot
of
work
by
a
lot
of
people
here
today,
building
a
playground
that
kids
are
going
to
school.
They
left
this
morning
and
it
was
an
empty
lot
when
they
get
home
from
school
tonight
they
don't
come
back
to
a
playground,
see
what
happened
so
I
I
just
want
to
thank
everybody.
Anything
is
possible.
Anything
is
possible
and
bringing
pride
back.
E
This
neighborhood
has
a
lot
of
pride.
This
block
has
a
lot
of
pride
and
to
see
this
playground
here
being
built
today
and
the
care
for
the
neighborhood
being
built
here
today
to
all
the
residents
in
this
neighborhood.
Thank
you.
Thank
you
for
working
with
us.
Thank
you
for
pushing
us.
Thank
you
for
all
the
things
you
do
every
day,
because
that's
why
we're
here
today.
A
Get
back
to
work,
we
are
gonna
cut
the
ribbon.
Of
course
we
aren't
done
so
we're
gonna
get
back
to
work
afterwards.
We
got
a
little
more
most
to
go,
but
I
think
we
have
some
new
motivation
behind
us
right
all
right.
So
if
everyone
wants
that,
we're
gonna
take
the
picture
right
here.
So
if
everyone
wants
to
squeeze
together,
I
know
we're
a
little
dirty
little
sweaty,
but
if
we
can
get
everyone
nice
and
close
nice
and
close-
and
we
can
get
some
in
the
front
here-
we
don't
need
everyone
on
the
playground
area.
