From YouTube: Lori Miller Tot Lot Dedication
Description
Throughout her life, Lori Miller was a cherished member of the South Boston community. In memory of her life and accomplishments, Mayor Walsh and neighbors gathered at South Boston's Medal of Honor Park for a concert and tot lot dedication in Lori's name.
A
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
welcome
to
beautiful
Medal
of
Honor
Park,
give
yourselves
a
round
of
applause,
how's
everyone
doing
in
South
Boston
tonight.
My
name
is
Chris
cook
on
the
parks
Commission
for
the
city
of
Boston.
We
couldn't
be
happier
to
be
here
tonight.
First
off
a
huge
round
of
applause
for
all.
The
people
have
been
incredibly
patient
during
this
large
construction
process.
I
want
to
thank
you.
I
want
to
thank
the
surrounding
community
I
know
you've
been
putting
up
with
a
lot
and
we're
really
looking
forward
to
getting
this
project
complete.
A
B
Thank
you.
Thank
you,
Chris.
Let
me
I
just
want
I
want
to
thank
Chris
in
the
parks
department
for
the
great
work
you
do.
They
do
some
of
some
incredible
work
in
the
city
of
Boston
and
to
the
neighbors
that
are
upset
about
the
park.
B
I,
don't
know
what
the
investment
in
here
is
like
three
or
four
million
dollars,
so
I
apologize,
it's
slow,
but
it's
still,
three
or
four
million
dollars
be
a
bit
with
us
a
little
while
longer
and
it
will
be
done
we're
going
to
make
sure
and
we're
going
to
do
some
other
great
work
on
the
back
side
of
the
park
soon
at
some
point.
So
thank
you.
Let
me
just
start.
The
elected
officials
I
want
to
just
recognize
the
elected
officials.
We
have
City
Council
Michael
Flaherty
here.
Thank
you.
B
B
B
Let
me
Erin
Ambassador
ray
Flynn.
Is
here
Thank
You,
mayor
I'm,
not
sure
if
Nick
is
out
of
town,
but
I
want
to
give
Nick
Collins
a
shout-out
at
the
state
representing
there
Colin.
Thank
you
next
senator
for
E
congressman
Stephen
Lynch,
who
obviously
is
a
very
dear
friend
of
of
the
middle
of
family
I.
B
Too
Brian
Caitlin
Kristen,
Kimberly,
Brian
and
Laurie's
mother
Loretta,
it's
our
honor
to
be
here
tonight.
It's
our
honor
to
be
here
tonight
to
dedicate
a
chart
line
that
thousands
of
young
kids
are
going
to
have
the
opportunity
to
play
in
and
have
great
moments
in
and
great
memories
in
and
families
are
going
to
be
able
to
watch
their
kids
grow
up
and
remember,
remember
those
special
moments
when
they
were
playing
in
the
tar,
laut
weather
was
going
down
the
slide
or
jumping
on
LD.
They
called
whatever
they
call
now
the
ropes
the
climbing
strings.
B
It
was
Margaret
Thank
You
Margaret,
with
Margaret
Lynch
and
I
had
a
chance
to
watch
her
watch,
the
way
that
they
she
campaigned,
and
she
did
things
perfectly
without
without
it
without
a
hitch,
and
then
I
got
a
chance
to
meet
the
person
who
was
such
a
beautiful
person
inside
and
outside
and
I.
Don't
think
you
know
that
you
hear
people
get
up
to
talk
about
people.
B
Everyone
in
this
park
that
knew
Larry,
Miller
and
knows
Laurie
Miller
knows
that
she
was
a
beautiful
human
being
and
is
a
beautiful
human
being
inside
and
out
and
I
had
the
honor
for
the
next
bunch
of
years
to
know
her
personally
and
when
I
decided
to
run
for
mayor
in
2013.
There
wasn't
even
a
question
about
where
she
was
going
and
she
wasn't
even
a
question
about
what
she
was
going
to
do
for
work.
Laurie
Miller
just
jumped
in
with
both
feet
with
Margaret
again,
and
they
just
did
it.
B
My
lawyer
would
tell
me
they're
unbelievable
we'd,
go
pull
up
to
a
senior
senior
complex
and
between
Laurie
and
Margaret
and
Laurie
and
Ellie.
It
was
done
and
and
I
just
I'm
rambling,
because
I
honestly
don't
know
what
the
right
words
to
catch.
Laurie
milla
is
the
true
epitome
of
a
person
of
a
community
person
who
gave
back
selflessly
all
the
time
for
every
organization,
regardless
what
it
was.
She
worked
a
hundred
thousand
miles
an
hour.
She
didn't
stop.
She
never
complained.
She
never
asked
for
anything
for
herself
or
her
family.
B
She
just
did
it
and
that's
what
this
community
in
South
Boston
is
all
about,
and
that's
why
tonight
we're
naming
his
tot
lot
after
Laurie
Miller,
because
this
park
this
is
a
Medal
of
Honor
Park.
This
is
a
special
Park
in
this
in
South
Boston
we
have
the
first
Vietnam
Memorial
in
the
in
the
United
States
of
America.
Right
here
in
this
park
and
how
appropriate
looking
over
that
memorials,
going
to
be
Laurie
mill
and
making
sure
that
this
talk
is
taken
care
of
so
I
again
to
the
middle
of
family.
B
This
is
I
just
want
to
the
painting
here
of
the
Tarte
lot,
the
first
painting
ever
painted
by
Norman
Crump
and
we're
going
to
dedicate
it.
Give
it
to
the
Miller
family.
I
want
to
thank
Norman,
I'm
gonna,
be
here
tonight.
Thank
you,
I
lost
my
mic.
The
mic
went
off.
C
Thank
You,
mayor
Walsh
and
Laurie
and
I
was
just
so
excited
when
you
were
elected
mayor,
we're
thrilled
with
what
you're
doing
and
you're
such
an
important
part
of
our
community,
so
Thank
You,
mayor
Walsh
and
as
I
look
out
to
the
crowd.
I
met
people
that
lawyer
went
to
kindergarten
with
people
that
Laurie
was
involved
with
a
hockey
program
with
the
lobby
ray
the
Boys
and
Girls
Club,
the
Gavin
house,
the
neighborhood
house.
She
was
involved
in
so
many
things.
C
My
family
is
so
appreciative
of
all
of
the
friendships
that
we
have
here
to
look
around
and
see
so
many
good
families
that
we've
grown
up
with
that
we've
known
for
years
to
be
here
to
help
us
celebrate
this
important
night.
Is
it's
just
such
a
beautiful
tribute?
I
do
have
a
few
prepared
remarks,
so
I
wanted
to
thank
the
mayor
and
the
parks
department.
This
is
beautiful
and
I'd
like
to
say
we're
thrilled
to
share
space
in
the
Medal
of
Honor
Park,
with
our
veterans
and
for
all
they've
done
for
our
country.
C
So
what
a
great
place
for
Lori's
Park
to
be,
and
Laurie
and
I
I'm,
going
to
get
a
little
bit
personal
had
39
wonderful
years
together,
it's
difficult
for
me
to
verbalize
how
much
she
meant
to
me
and
to
the
family.
I'll!
Try,
the
more
you
got
to
know,
Laurie
the
more
you
loved
her
and
I
know
many
of
you
newer
in
just
different
areas
around
the
neighborhood
ever
again
through
hockey,
or
something
like
that.
But
when
you
really
get
to
know
her,
she
was
special.
She
loved
people
she
loved
getting
out
socially.
C
She
had
a
group
of
girls
that
she'd
go
out
to
dinner
with
and
they'd
be
out
for
four
hours.
It
wasn't
where
they
were.
It
was
who
they
were
with.
So
she
had
a
wonderful
wonderful
group
of
friends
and
the
friends
all
became
part
of
our
family.
We're
thrilled
we're
blessed
her
her
mom
Loretta
did
such
a
wonderful
job,
bringing
wari
up
her
brother
guy
and
her
sister
Joanna
here
with
us
tonight:
wonderful
family.
Thank
you
for
sharing
Laurie
with
us
and
my
family.
C
My
five
sisters,
Mary
Patty,
Carol,
Janice
and
Joanne
instantly
Laurie
was
a
big
part
of
the
family.
If
we
had
a
little
disagreement,
I
was
the
one
that
was
wrong
and
that's
how
it
should
be
my
mom
and
dad
treated
her
like
a
daughter,
they
loved
her
and
just
she
enjoyed
being
with
us
as
a
family.
So
we
had
many
many
wonderful
times.
We
miss
her
dearly
she's
in
our
cross,
our
thoughts
and
our
gratitude
to
all
of
you
for
helping
us
celebrate
this
beautiful
night.
Thank
you.
D
D
D
So
it's
a
real
honor
for
me
to
be
here
and
to
bless
this
park
in
memory
of
her
whenever
we
remember
anybody,
whether
it's
through
a
photograph,
a
written
memory
or
something
special
that
we
remember
about
someone,
it's
always
a
consoling
time
for
for
us,
and
hopefully
this
is
something
that
is
for
all
of
us,
a
gift
from
Laurie
to
all
of
us
here
in
South
Boston.
So
we
ask
God
now
to
bless
us
and
to
be
with
us.
Let
us
pray.
D
God,
as
we
remember,
Laurie
Miller,
the
gift
that
she
was
to
this
community,
we
give
thanks
tonight
for
the
gift
that
she
was
as
a
parent
as
a
wife
as
a
community
organizer
as
a
parent
in
the
school
who
always
was
willing
to
help.
We
give
thanks
to
her
for
tonight.
We
ask
your
blessing
upon
her
family,
her
friends,
gathered
here
and
in
a
special
way.
We
ask
your
blessing
upon
this
taught
park
built
in
her
memory
and
in
her
honor.
We
ask
you
a
blessing
through
Christ,
our
Lord
amen.
A
Listen,
ladies
gentlemen,
another
round
of
applause
for
Lori
Mueller's
family.
Thank
you
very
much.
Thank
you.
So
much
for
joining
us
here
for
this
special
ceremony,
don't
go
anywhere
in
five
minutes.
Sole
City
is
going
to
be
here
we're
going
to
have
a
great
night.
It's
a
beautiful
night!
Thank
you!
So
much
for
joining
us,
a
beautiful
Medal
of
Honor,
Park
and
I
want
to
remind
you
that
we
do
have
this
banner
to
sign
in
loving
memory
for
the
family.
