From YouTube: Cuneo Park Ribboncutting
Description
Mayor Walsh, the Boston Parks & Recreation Department, and East Boston residents celebrate the successful renovation and reopening of Cuneo Park with a celebratory ribbon cutting. Located at 765 Saratoga Street in East Boston, Cuneo Park is a small well-loved park playground frequented primarily by younger children and families.
The ribbon cutting marks the completion of a comprehensive renovation of the entire playground with a design and construction budget of $310,000 funded by Mayor Walsh's Capital Improvement Plan. Currently, 98% of Boston residents live within 10 minutes of a park. The goal is to eventually reach 100%

B
Thank
You
Commissioner
in
and
I
want
to
thank
Kristen
and
the
entire
Parks
Recreation
Department
they're
incredible
in
our
city,
in
what
they
do.
So
thank
you.
I
wanted
that
the
CUNY
ol
family
as
well
that
are
here
today,
thank
you
for
for
allowing
us
to
be
here
today
and
and
and
remembering
your
family
today
as
we
open
this
beautiful
park.
Thank
you
all
I
just
want
to
say,
there's
a
couple:
people
that
want
to
introduce
Jim
Grady,
thank
you
Jim
and
in
five
five
years.
B
B
Little
expensive
little
buddy.
Thank
you.
I
want
to
thank
the
elected
officials
who
I
ant,
we're
gonna
dance
to
come
up
and
say
a
few
words.
A
little
bit
jump
encore.
The
senator!
Thank
you
so
much
for
being
here
with
us
today,
representing
matter
Oh,
Thank,
You
Adrian
for
being
here
as
well
today,
in
also
City
Council
on
Martina.
Every
time
we
open
a
park
or
a
community
center
or
something
in
easty
South
says
I
played
there.
I
played
there,
so
you
spent
a
lot
of
time
floating
around
East.
B
C
B
And
don't
get
worried,
Joe
para
de
Jobar,
Oh
Georgie
Rose
measuring
tape,
he's
out
here
taping
to
see
what
count,
how
big
a
fighter
try
getting
in
the
phase
again.
So
I,
don't
think
you
get
this
back,
but
Thank
You,
commissioner.
We
also
have
other
folks
from
eSports
tonight
here,
part
of
the
administration
Gina
Finn
Dhaka,
either
the
the
Commissioner
of
Transportation
thank
Mike,
sir
prizeo
who's,
a
big
shot
at
DCYF,
where,
as
a
Michael,
good
Michael
and
Austin
Bartman,
the
the
chief
of
the
environment
for
the
city.
Thank
you
awesome
to
be
us
today.
B
B
You
have
here
today's
new
play
equipment,
obviously,
and
we're
doing
this
in
a
lot
of
our
parts
of
the
city
of
Boston,
so
why
young
people
can
can
have
a
great
experience
in
here
we
have
a
fire
truck
or
fire
station
auditioning
and
so
much
more
to
keep
in
theme
what
this
park
is
all
about.
In
our
community
we
honor
today
historic
connection
between
this
park
and
the
fire
department
engine
11
ladder
21
that
used
to
be
this
station
here
on
this
site.
B
So
when
you
think
about
this
park,
this
land
has
been
used
for
years
for
a
safe
space,
giving
back
to
the
community
whether
it
was
the
fire
trucks
leaving
this
going
to
a
scene,
any
sports
and
protecting
the
people,
East
Boston
or
a
place
for
young
people
to
come
and
play
and
enjoy
a
place
for
older
people
to
come
and
just
kind
of
relax
and
sit
down
and
chill
out
in
the
shade.
That's
what
this
space
has
been
all
about.
So
it's
great
to
see.
B
D
B
A
three
hundred
and
ten
thousand
dollar
capital
project
and
I
want
to
thank
all
the
young
leaders
for
making
this
a
priority.
This
Parker
priority
here
in
East
Boston
because
it
certainly
is
a
beautiful
place
park.
Openings
are
probably
some
of
the
most
my
favorite
events,
because
when
you
come
here,
I
used
to
be
a
Little,
League,
coach
and
I
ran
a
president.
B
I
was
president
Little
League
and
Savin
Hill
for
many
years
and
and
the
parks
is
we
have
so
many
people
come
and
when
you
go
to
a
park
you
can
come
and
you
can
see
somebody
who
was
just
newly
born
and
they
can
be
playing
not
necessarily
the
swings,
but
with
their
mothers
and
their
little
brothers
and
sisters,
and
you
can
see
people
who
have
lived
their
life,
an
entire
community
coming
and
enjoying
it.
So
that's
why
I
love
these
parks.
A
well-maintained
beautiful
park,
enhances
a
neighborhood
in
so
many
different
ways.
B
It
brings
the
community
together,
and
our
goal
in
Boston
is
to
have
every
single
person
lives
in
Boston
within
a
10-minute
walk
of
a
park
and
right
now
our
percentage
in
Boston
of
that
is
98%
of
the
people
who
live
in
the
city
can
walk
out
their
front
door
within
10
minutes
they're
at
a
park,
so
we're
gonna
get
to
the
hundred
percent
figure.
We're
gonna
get
there,
but
as
we
continue
to
work,
the
I
want
to
again
thank
the
community.
B
This
is
2014
the
city
of
Boston
since
I've
become
there
the
city
of
Boston,
along
with
C
council.
In
the
help
of
the
Senate
and
the
house
representatives,
we've
invested
two
hundred
and
forty
million
dollars
in
improving
our
products
in
Boston
and
that's
our
lives.
Investment
and
I
often
think
to
myself
when,
when
people
think
about
the
city,
not
everyone
uses
different
services,
people
don't
use
the
school
to
them
enough,
kids
or
the
kids
went
to
private
school.
B
Not
everyone,
not
everyone
uses
public
works
of
transportation
on
everyone
uses
the
different
places,
but
the
parks
is
what
everyone
can
use.
It
doesn't
matter
who
you
want
where
you
live
in
the
city,
you
walk
through
the
gate.
You
should
be
able
to
enjoy
yourself
and
we're
going
to
continue
to
make
those
investments
in
three
and
a
half
years.
We've
renovated
seventy-six
parks
and
playgrounds
like
this
one
and
we're
going
to
continue
to
do
that.
B
It's
where
I
manager,
Boston
2030
program,
we're
going
to
continue
to
invest
in
parks
and
open
space
it
all
over
the
city
to
make
sure
we
keep
those
connections
in
the
city.
We
want
to
make
sure
we
increase
safety
also
in
our
city,
and
we
want
to
expend
equity,
and
we
want
people
to
last
thing.
I'll
say
is
this
community
is
very
Asians
part
when
you
know
it's
a
great
example
of
we
need
the
community
be
invested
in
parks,
because
what
happens
is
when
the
community
is
not
invested
in
the
park.
B
They're,
not
part
of
a
park,
they
fault
that
they
kind
of
go,
go,
get
in
bad
repair.
You
have
problems
that
hang
there
and
you
had
a
lot
of
issues
there.
So
I
want
to
thank
this
neighborhood
for
adopting
this
beautiful
place.
I'd
call
I'll
call
it
a
sacred
place
because
it
is
a
sacred
place
and
again,
thank
you
for
all
of
you
to
be
here
today
and
I'm,
going
to
turn
this
phone
microphone
back
over
to.
A
E
Thank
Chris
snake
man,
first
off
I
started
my
career
in
East
Boston,
some
30
almost
34
years
ago,
out
of
21
actually
and
I
had
the
pleasure
working
with
a
couple
members
who
actually
served
when
this
house
was.
It
was
in
full
service
in
fact
end
of
the
day,
and
we
used
to
drive
by
you
get
a
history
lesson.
Every
time
we
come
up
and
down
Saratoga
Street.
You
tell
us
about
this
way
that
fire,
so
it
certainly
has
a
lot
of
meaning
to
the
fire
service
and
the
fire
department.
E
E
I
also
got
to
give
a
shout
out
to
the
media
when
this
me
invested.
Almost
twenty
six
million
dollars
in
new
fire
apparatus
in
the
city
and
east
boston
has
benefited
from
that
ladder.
21
is
one
of
the
first
of
nine
engine
and
nine
ladder,
trucks
that
has
been
replaced
by
the
map
and
also
engine.
Five
is
one
of
23
that
engines
that
are
going
to
be
placed
in
the
city.
E
A
Thank
You
Commissioner,
the
commissioners
part
of
the
mayor's
leadership
in
the
city
in
the
cabinet
and
once
again,
the
mayor-
and
he
mentioned,
but
thank
you
to
Austin
Blackmun,
our
cabinet
chief
of
Energy,
Environment
and
open
space
and
I
have
to
say
Austin's
doing
a
tremendous
job
working
on
solutions
to
protect
East,
Boston
from
storm
surge
and
climate
change,
so
Thank
You
Austin
for
your
leadership
on
those
issues,
they're
so
important
to
East
Boston.
Here.
A
few
quick
thank-yous
also
I
want
to
thank
the
design
team.
A
Larsen
I
want
to
thank
Marini,
marina
corporation,
who
were
who
constructed
this
front
this
park
and
did
it
in
very
very
expedient
times
we're
very
grateful
to
them
to
give
the
general
contractor
a
round
of
applause
as
well
and
one
thing
our
project
man's
our
Nate
crazy,
was
joined
by
his
beautiful
family
here,
and
some
of
them
have
traveled
and
Nate's
young
one
acadia
is
one
yesterday
so
happy
birthday
to
acadia
and
while
you're
clapping,
you
can
clap
for
an
extraordinary
city.
Councilor,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
Sal
la
mattina.
F
Thank
You,
commissioner,
thank
you
all
for
being
here
today.
This
is
an
exciting
day
for
this
particular
neighborhood,
but
I
also
want
to
take
this
opportunity
to
thank
them
there.
This
mayor
is
doing
a
really
great
job
he's
committed
to
his
neighborhood.
He
made
sure
that
all
these
capital
plans
are
moving
right
along
and
particularly
in
East
Boston.
The
Commissioner
mentioned
that
East
Boston
has
one
of
the
best
park
systems
in
the
city,
and
let
me
tell
you
he's
absolutely
correct
when
I
started
this
job.
F
D
F
D
A
round
of
applause
for
all
the
wonderful
city
staff
that
made
this
pocket
reality
I
have
to
come
to
this
Park
as
a
kid.
It
is
totally
transformed
now
and
I
have
to
say
mayor.
Thank
you
because
I
think
pretty
much
each
and
every
pocket
East
Boston
has
or
is
about
to
be
redone.
We
have
noise
coming
around
the
corner.
This
was
redone
everything
down
the
point.
Eagle
Hill
things
are
incredible:
a
pressed
epoch.
D
If
you
haven't
been
down
there,
the
mayor
and
his
team
have
really
placed
a
priority
on
investing
in
our
park
system
and
in
this
community
and,
like
the
mayor,
said,
parks
and
where
community
is
built.
Do
where
you
go
meet
friends
meet
your
family
and
we're
lasting
relationships
are
formed
and
that's
exactly
what
young
people
will
do
and
families
will
do
right
here
at
Cuneo,
Park
and
I
couldn't
be
more
happy
that
we
have
a
place
like
this
at
HD.
So
may
it
to
you
and
your
team.
Thank
you.
D
I
also
just
want
to
make
a
special
recognition
and
note
to
the
P
and
II.
Don't
vinod
OC
family.
We
will
be
installing
a
plaque
for
Paul
piano
dosey.
His
wife
Fran
is
right
here.
Paul
took
care
of
this
park
for
many
many
years
and
he
and
his
family
are
just
long-time
wonderful,
wonderful
residents
of
this
neighborhood,
and
we
will
be
installing
that
plaque
at
a
bench
in
this
park
and
it
really
is
a
wonderful
honor
to
the
piano
Doshi
family.
D
C
C
A
And
we
also
once
again
want
to
recognize
your
City
Council,
our
large
Anisa
sabe
George,
who
thankfully
has
decided
that
there's
a
net
pool
of
politicians
speaking
today.
So
thank
you
for
that
counselor.
We
do
want
to
get
to
the
to
the
ribbon-cutting.
So
if
I
could
ask
the
family
to
join
us
over
by
the
ribbon,
along
with
the
elected
officials
and
any
children
that
want
to
join
us
at
the
ribbon-cutting.
