From YouTube: Dawn Redwood Planting at Richard J Murphy School - Promo
Description
Dawn Redwoods are a rare and magnificent tree which date back to prehistoric times. In September, the Arnold Arboretum gifted 10 Dawn Redwoods to the City of Boston. This week, Mayor Wu gathered with the Parks Department to plant the inaugural Redwood at the Richard J Murphy School in Dorchester.
A
We're
thrilled
to
offer
10
Dawn
Redwood
Trees
from
our
nurseries
to
the
city
of
Boston
I,
wanted
to
say
a
little
bit
more
about
our
baby
Don
redwoods
here
as
well.
These
are
treasures
and
jewels
that
the
Arboretum
has
shared
with
the
city
of
Boston.
We
are
passing
on
and
we'll
be
looking
for
spaces
to
ensure
that
they
are
deeply
rooted
in
our
Park
system
and
in
our
other
public
spaces.
This.
B
Is
our
first
planting
location
that
we're
doing
of
10.
we're
happy
to
have
students
from
the
Murphy
School
in
the
Lakey
hollering
Community
Center,
to
plant
this
tree
right
here?
This
tree
was
propagated
at
the
Arnold
Arboretum
and
was
given
to
us
to
plant
throughout
the
city.
It's
one
of
the
oldest
known
trees.
We're
really
excited
to
spread
this
tree
around
when
the
mayor
got
this
gift,
she
was
so
excited
to
get
the
community
involved,
we're
excited
about
planting
new
trees.
This
was
a
great
gift.
