From YouTube: COVID-19 Media Availability - 7-23-20
Description
Mayor Walsh hosts a media availability to discuss updates relating to COVID-19.
A
A
A
Ten
thousand
and
seven
people
have
recovered
it's
an
increase
of
25
from
yesterday.
723
people
have
lost
their
life
with
one
new
death
due
to
covert
19.
and
those
families
that
are
still
sick
and
suffering.
We
want
you
to
know
that
we're
thinking
of
you
and
we're
thinking
also
of
the
families,
who've
lost
loved
ones
during
this
pandemic.
A
A
I
know
that
it's
constantly
repetitive,
but
I'm
going
to
continue
to
do
this
until
we
no
longer
have
to
do
this.
Consistency
is
definitely
working
for
us.
Our
ability
to
act
together
is
keeping
us
safe,
and
if
you
look
at
our
numbers
compared
to
other
parts
of
the
country,
you
can
see
why
this
is
important
on
our
seven
day,
average
of
daily
new
cases
it's
down
this
week,
our
seven
day
average
for
positive
test
rates
is
also
down
this
week
and
our
seven
day
average
for
new
covert
hospital
admissions
is
down
as
well.
A
Our
residents
and
our
public
is
doing
an
incredible
job
in
a
very
difficult
situation.
I
want
to
thank
everyone
for
what
you're
doing,
and
I
want
to
encourage
everyone
to.
Let's
keep
doing
it
as
we
move
forward
here.
It
looks
like
we're
heading
towards
another
very
hot
weekend,
so
I'll
continue
through
the
week
into
another
hot
weekend.
A
Many
people
are
going
to
be
outdoors
and
trying
to
get
outdoors
parks,
and
beaches
are
certainly
great
mental
and
physical
health
areas
to
go
for
cooling
off,
but
we
need
to
continue
to
be
diligent
and
smart
about
it.
We
can't
if
we
can't
afford
to
see
more
crowded
beaches
like
we
did,
saw
last
weekend
here
in
boston
and
other
parts
of
the
commonwealth.
A
If
this
keeps
happening
we'll
get
outbreaks
and
when
and
when
you
see
we'll
see
more
restrictions
being
imposed,
we
certainly
can't
afford
to
see
house
parties.
There
was
an
article
in
the
paper
this
today.
I
think
it
was
down
one
part
of
the
cape.
There
was
a
house
party
on
the
12th
of
july
and
it's
produced
over
12
cases
or
12
cases
so
far
of
covert.
A
If
you
have
any
concerns
get
tested,
I
want
to
update
everybody
on
testing.
On
tuesday
I
announced
and
spoke
about
the
new
mobile
team.
It
started
this
week
at
a
pop-up
testing
site
at
the
jackson
mann,
community
center
in
austin
and
every
two
weeks
it'll
be
in
another
location
in
a
different
neighborhood.
A
Last
week
I
also
talked
about
the
outreach,
the
latino
outreach
initiative,
we're
partnering
with
the
greater
boston
latino
network,
to
increase
testing
and
support
in
the
latino
community
that
builds
on
the
work
of
our
covert
19
health
inequities
task
force,
which
helped
us
lead.
Our
testing,
expansion
in
roxbury,
dorchester,
mattapan,
high
park
and
east
boston,
we're
now
testing
all
across
the
city.
Thanks
to
our
funding
and
our
partnerships
with
our
community
health
centers
we're
going
to
keep
prioritizing
those
partnerships
in
an
equitable
access.
A
Roslindale,
alston
and
brighton
these
services
will
be
will
run
by
online
appointments
at
cvs.com,
and
the
results
will
be
delivered
through
cvs's
minute
clinic
system
to
be
eligible
for
this
test.
You
must
be
18
years
or
older
and
meet
certain
criteria,
including
either
having
coveted
symptoms
and
exposure
or
presence
of
a
large
public
or
presence
at
a
large
public
gathering
or
if
you
live
or
work
in
long-term
long-term
care
in
group
facilities
or
shelters,
there'll
be
no
out-of-pocket
expense,
whether
you
have
insurance
or
not.
A
A
Last
night,
superintendent,
brenda
casilius
and
her
team
presented
a
draft
plan
at
the
boston
public
school
committee
in
a
return
for
school.
This
fall
that
would
combine
in-person
and
remote
learning
a
great
deal
of
research,
dialogue,
thought
and
care
went
into
this
draft,
but
it
is
a
draft,
and
the
process
of
getting
input
and
feedback
is
going
to
continue.
A
A
A
We
have
to
consider
what
remote
learning
means
for
low-income
students
and
students
of
color
who
have
fewer
resources
at
home.
We
have
to
consider
the
sports
that
students
with
disabilities
and
students
with
english
language
language
learning
needs.
We
are
weighing
all
of
the
needs
and
we
are
committed
to
meeting
all
of
the
needs
so
to
our
families.
I
ask
for
your
continued
input
for
your
continued
patience
as
the
school
department
works
through
all
of
these
different
factors,
regardless
of
the
situation
we
picked,
it
will
be
an
opt
out
part
of
going
back
to
school.
A
So
if
we
decide
to
do
the
hybrid
model
in
september,
parents
will
have
the
option
to
opt
out
and
have
their
children
do
remote
learning
and
again,
we'll
talk
more
about
that
as
we
move
forward,
we
still
have
about
seven
weeks
so
opening
day
of
school
and
that's
a
lot
of
time
as
we've
seen
with
covert
19.,
as
you
may
have
seen.
Yesterday
we
announced
street
sweeping
enforcement
will
resume
on
monday
august
10th.
A
We
will
be
ticketing
cars
and
on
street
cleaning
days,
not
towing
them.
Street
cleaning
normally
runs
from
april
1st
through
november
30th,
but
we
suspended
ticketing
and
towing
to
give
people
a
break
during
the
stay
at
home
order
in
the
early
stages
of
our
reopening
as
summit
progresses,
we
don't
want
to
see
dirt
and
trash
build
up
on
our
streets
and
we've
received
several
complaints
from
that.
A
A
You
can
sign
up
at
boston.gov
to
get
the
street
cleaning
alert
on
your
cell
phone.
So
let's
go
to
boston.gov
for
the
street
cleaning
alert
on
your
cell
phone
actually
didn't
know.
We
had
that.
So
I
read
this
in
these
notes
a
little
while
ago,
which
is
a
good
thing.
I
wish
we
had
it
back
in
the
day
I
wouldn't
have
got
so
many
tickets.
A
A
A
A
The
reopened
boston
fund
has
distributed
one
point:
seven
million
dollars
to
over
a
thousand
businesses
for
safety
measures,
measures,
including
ppe
petitions
and
outdoor
spaces.
This
week
we're
expanding
the
reopening
fund
to
include
more
businesses.
It
was
set
up
for
for
phase
two
we're
expanding
more
businesses
to
capture
some
of
phase
three
before
it
was
limited
to
businesses,
which
is
15
employees
or
fewer.
A
A
A
couple
copies
of
the
poster
right
here:
three
copies,
so
what
it
does
it
allows
people
when
they're
walking
by
they'll,
see
something
new
in
the
window.
They'll
see
the
very
big
letters
we
are
open
and
hopefully
we'll
be
able
to
use
these
these
posters
to
help
businesses
increase
what's
happening
in
increase
the
the
customer
base
in
their
in
their
companies.
A
Also,
city
contracting
we're
going
to
be
hosting
two
workshops
to
help
businesses
gain
a
better
understanding
of
the
request
for
proposal
process
in
the
bidding
process
here
in
the
city
of
boston.
If
you
provide
product
that
the
city
buys
or
professional
services
that
the
city
uses,
we
have
a
workshop
this
coming
tuesday
on
the
28th.
A
If
you're
interested
on
how
to
bid
on
construction
contracts,
we
have
a
workshop
on
wednesday
august
5th.
These
are
free
and
open
to
the
public,
but
you
will
need
to
register
online
to
be
admitted.
I
encourage
anyone
that
is
interested
in
doing
business
with
the
city
to
sign
up.
We
are
also
dedicated.
We
are
dedicated
to
increasing
our
diversity
in
our
vendors,
and
this
is
a
re,
important
resource
that
works.
A
A
I
have
been
promoting
and
we've
all
been
promoting
the
2020
us
census
from
this
podium
and
every
platform
that
I
have
and
that
other
people
have
it's,
how
we
get
fair
representation
in
congress
and
the
ability
to
get
even
maybe
more
representation
in
congress.
It's
how
we
get
our
fair
share
of
federal
resources,
it's
required
in
the
united
states
constitution.
A
However,
this
week
the
president
released
a
memo
seeking
to
cut
some
immigrants
out
of
the
census.
Population
numbers
for
redistricting
purposes.
To
be
absolutely
clear.
The
united
states
constitution
requires
that
every
person
living
in
the
united
states
of
america
be
counted
and
to
be
very
clear.
All
of
us
in
boston
want
every
single
person
that
lives
in
the
city
of
boston
to
be
counted
because
it
makes
a
difference.
A
A
The
president
has
gone
out
of
his
way
to
make
sure
cities
and
towns
across
america
are
struggling
to
count
everywhere.
The
census
happens
every
ten
years
just
to
get
a
quick
understanding
of
it.
In
the
last
three
sentences
counts.
We've
lost
a
member
of
congress
each
of
those
10
years,
so
we're
down
three
members
than
we
were
30
years
ago
in
the
city
of
boston.
A
We've
lost
seats
in
the
house
of
representatives
that
used
to
be
all
boston,
seats
and
now
they're
shared,
but
we've
lost
all
seats
because
boston's
population
has
gone
down,
we've
lost
count
in
the
the
massachusetts
state
senate
and
we've
lost
revenue
because
other
cities
and
towns
population
counts
are
higher
than
ours.
So
if
we
count
our
population
and
get
every
single
person,
it
will
help
us
get
our
fair
share
of
federal
dollars
here
to
boston,
to
help
us
with
whatever
we
need
it
for.
A
A
A
Make
sure
that
you
fill
out
the
interest,
the
census
and
the
best
thing
that
we
can
do
right
now
is
fill
out
your
census
form
and
I'm
asking
everyone
who's
listening
or
if
you
could
pass
it
along.
If
your
family
hasn't
filled
it
out
or
you
haven't
filled
out,
there's
two
ways
you
can
get
in
contact
with
the
census
bureau.
One
is
go
to
my2020census.gov,
that's
my
2020
census.gov,
or
by
calling.
A
844-330-2020,
the
census
can
be
done
in
13
different
languages.
It
just
takes
a
couple
of
minutes
to
complete
and
all
the
information
that
you
put
on
there
is
confidential,
and
I
invite
everyone
to
do
more.
Ask
your
families
and
friends
and
neighbors.
If
they
filled
out
the
ex
census,
explain
to
them
how
important
it
is
and
what's
on
the
on
at
stake,
if
they
need
help,
help
them
respond.
A
A
We
need
congress
to
get
this
done
before
they
adjourn
for
the
summer.
I
want
to
thank
the
massachusetts
delegation
for
their
leadership
and
clarity
on
what
is
needed.
We
are
in
communication
with
them
and
they
understand
what
we
are
facing
to
understand.
The
local
needs.
Look
at
the
numbers
in
boston
alone,
over
2
million
over
2
million
meals
have
been
distributed.
Since
we
started
the
covert
pandemic,
we
have
97
meal
sites
open
in
in
neighborhoods
all
across
the
city.
A
A
Families
across
america
and
right
here
in
boston,
are
going
to
be
hanging
on
by
thread.
This
is
the
time
to
put
politics
and
partisan
politics
aside
to
come
together
and
get
something
done.
So
I'd
ask
us
all
to
reach
out
to
our
senators
and
let
them
know
I
mean
our
two
centers
are
on
board
with
us,
but
we
need
to
let
them
know
the
sense
of
urgency
there.
So
I
want
to
thank
you.
I
have
one
question
from
the
press:
that's
pre-submitted
and
I'll
open
up
to
the
press
is
here.
A
The
question
is
from
wbur.
Lansdowne
street
is
going
pedestrian
only
on
game
day,
red
sox
game
days
and
the
restaurants
are
encouraging
people
to
come
for
outdoor
dining.
Are
you
concerned
that
this
could
lead
to
crowds
possibly
spreading
the
coronavirus?
Does
this
defeat
the
purpose
of
not
allowing
fans
to
attend
the
game?
A
In
this
specific
space
in
case,
the
licensing
board
is
not
allowing
these
new
outdoor
spaces
of
entertainment,
just
food
and
beverage
service
outside,
and
this
goes
for
other
establishments
in
the
area.
We
have
been
allowing
establishments
to
take
advantage
of
outdoor
dining
as
a
safety
measure
and
to
mitigate
the
risk
of
covet
19.
A
I
know
that
it's
exciting
here
in
the
city,
the
red
sox
are
starting
friday
and
people
want
to
be
around
the
park,
but
honestly
for
your
own
health
interest.
It's
not
necessarily
the
best
place
to
be
around
large
crowds,
so
my
suggestion
is,
unfortunately,
all
of
us
will
be
watching
the
red
sox,
the
bruins,
the
celtics
and
hopefully
the
patriots
in
september.
Most
of
it,
I
think,
will
be
on
tv
until
it's
safe
to
go
back
to
the
stadiums
with
that,
I'm
going
to
open
up
for
questions.
A
Yeah
great
question:
the
question
is
about
large
crowds
and
am
I
concerned
about
college
kids.
Coming
back
to
boston
I'll
first
start
saying:
the
state
hasn't
initially
formally
issued
guidelines
around
colleges
and
the
city
of
boston.
A
We've
been
talking
to
college
universities
regularly
since
the
beginning
of
this
crisis,
we're
going
to
continue
to
work
with
them,
they're
putting
their
plans
together,
obviously
to
open
school,
but
I
think
from
the
time
we
started
this
conversation
a
couple
of
months
ago,
with
the
colleges
seeing
what's
happening
around
the
country
certainly
is
concerning
me
many
of
our
college
students
that
come
to
boston
to
school.
They
live
here.
They
work
here
part-time.
A
A
A
Oh
sorry,
I
didn't
hear
that,
will
the
police
be
looking
out
for
parties,
I
mean
quite
honestly,
I
I
think
that
college
students
that
come
here
in
the
fall
we're
going
to
be
asking
them
to
police
themselves.
I
mean
we
will
be
looking
out
for
it,
but
the
last
thing
we
want
to
do
is
send
our
public
safety
personnel
police
officers
to
a
party
that
shouldn't
be
happening.
A
This
whole
conversation
that
we're
having
I'm
not
blaming
it,
but
our
covered,
beginning
days
in
march,
came
out
of
a
convent
conference
down
the
street
at
the
hotel,
where
there
was
150
attendees
and
roughly
100
people
caught
covert
in
that
one
room
over
that
one.
It's
one
one
convention,
so
people
need
to
be
careful.
I
would
not
advise
college
students
to
be
having
parties
and
I
think
that
college
students
are
going
to
be
living
on
campus.
A
A
It's
early,
the
question
is:
what
am
I
going
to
say
to
parents
who
are
frustrated
by
the
lack
of
details?
I
don't
know
who's
la
who's.
I
don't
know
who's
upset
by
the
lack
of
details.
We
unveiled
it
yesterday,
we're
in
the
process
now
of
talking
about
it.
What
we
have
to
do
here
in
boston
is
desi
is
asking
us
for
three
models
to
submit
to
them
by
the
end
of
july.
A
One
of
those
models
is
going
to
be
all
in
school
teaching
which
we
know
is
not
going
to
happen,
but
we're
going
to
present
the
model.
The
second
model
is
a
hybrid
model
which
was
talked
about
yesterday
in
the
school
department.
It
might
change.
But
what
was
talked
about
yesterday
was
two
groups
of
students
group.
A
A
A
This
has
never
happened
in
the
history
of
the
world
or
the
united
states
of
america,
where
we've
had
to
shut
school
down
as
we
reimagine
school
starting
up
in
september.
Whatever
that
model
is
that
we
potentially
have
a
hybrid,
so
I'd
ask
everyone
to
be
patient
and
we're
going
to
get
information
out
to
people
as
often
as
transparent
as
possible.
A
There's
been
no
final
decision
because
there
can
be
no
final
decision.
Quite
honestly,
probably
right
up
to
almost
the
beginning
of
school.
There
will
be
an
understanding
as
we
get
towards
school.
What
the
preferred
option
is,
but
it's
still
too
early
to
absolutely
say
that
september
10th
we
will
be
in
school.
Absolutely
I'm
saying
today
I
would
like
to
be
in
school.
I
would
think
our
kids.
A
Yeah
the
question
is:
am
I
disappointed
that
two
days
a
week
is
enough
for
our
kids
in
class,
and
how
do
I
feel
about
that?
I
wouldn't
say:
there's
a
point,
I'm
concerned,
because
I'd
be
disappointed
if
we
couldn't
pull
it
off,
I'm
concerned
because
of
covert
where
we
are.
If
we
did
the
model
like
that,
where
we
had
two
days
on
and
three
days
off,
students
would
be
learning
the
other
three
days
online,
so
it
would
be
one
classroom
or,
however,
they're
going
to
work
it
out.
A
A
I
see
that
achievement
gap
growing
I'm
seeing
children
that
learned
in
in
march,
or
maybe
been
online
they're,
not
retaining
the
knowledge
that
they're
learning
I'm
concerned
that
we're
going
to
be
pushing
kids
through
a
system.
Quite
honestly
that
you
know
are
they
prepared
for
the
next
grade
level.
Work
that's
going
to
be
happening.
Teachers
are
going
to
be
working
extra
hard.
A
I
believe
in
a
lot
of
ways
not
only
to
teach
our
kids
the
information
in
front
of
them,
but
also
get
them
caught
up
on
the
on
the
on
the
on
the
on
the
on
the
lack
of
instruction.
That's
happened
over
the
last
six
months,
meaning
that
that
not
that
they
weren't
taught
but
with
their
what
they
haven't
retained.
So
I
have
major
concerns
about
our
system.
I
think
that,
on
a
national
level
and
on
a
local
level
state
level,
there
has
to
be
deeper
conversations
about
this.
A
It's
not
just
simply
about
reopening
school,
it's
about
the
education
that
kids
are
getting,
what
type
of
education
they're
getting
in
the
classroom,
so
I
have
major
concerns
on
all
of
education.
That's
why
sean
to
sean's
point!
You
know
I
heard
the
pushback.
I
saw
the
tweets
yesterday
in
the
facebook
post.
This
is
crazy.
We
shouldn't
open
school,
we're,
not
we're
not
saying
we
are.
A
A
B
A
Yeah,
so
the
question
is
not
from
the
press
from
a
private
citizen
about
the
con,
the
conflict
between
the
landlord
and
the
tenants
with
the
rental
eviction
moratorium.
A
I
I
think,
first
and
foremost,
I
think,
having
conversations
really
important,
I
think
tenants
and
landlords
need
to
talk
more
and,
as
I
mentioned
a
minute
ago,
I
think
it's
really
important
for
landlords
as
well
to
contact
their
banks
and
their
financial
institutions,
because
in
the
very
beginning
of
covid
many
many
banks
working
with
the
city
of
boston,
created
programs
for
people
that
own
property,
particularly
homeowners,
that
they
could
work
something
out
where
they
wouldn't
have
to
pay
mortgage
payment
for
a
couple
of
months
and
they
paid
on
the
it
would
put
on
the
back
end
of
the
loan
without
penalty
interest
or
credit
reporting.
A
A
I'm
making
an
assumption
here.
I
think
most
of
the
people
using
the
beaches
are
residents
that
are
walking
down
to
the
beach,
and
I
I
don't
know
how
you
can
why.
Oh
time
passes,
I'm
not
sure
how
you
can
do
that.
A
I
know
the
state
was
looking
and
having
conversations
I
have
not
had
a
chance
to
follow
up
with
the
state
today
I
know
the
governor
I
talked
to
governor
the
other
day
about
it,
the
local
elected
officials
in
that
neighborhood,
all
all
four
of
them,
five
of
them
actually
we've
talked
they've,
talked
about
it.
They've
heard
the
concerns,
so
I
think
that
they're
trying
to
figure
out
what
solution
is
best
for
that,
but
again
just
for
people's
sake.
A
If
you
use
the
beach
in
m
street
beach
on
on
the
left
side
of
the
beach
is
the
yacht
club
on
the
right
side
of
the
beach
is
a
is
the
bath
house.
If
you
go
to
the
other
side
of
the
bath
house,
you
have
about
a
mile
stretch
of
beach
there.
That
is
not
overcrowded.
I
know
the
other
day.
A
lot
of
people
went
over
there
for
your
own
health.
A
For
your
own
safety.
I
would
suggest
that
you
spread
out
on
the
beach
for
your
own
for
your
own
safety,
also
when
you're
walking
to
the
beach
or
walking
from
the
beach.
You
should
have
a
mask
on
if
you're,
on
the
beach
and
you're
sitting
in
your
own
circle
and
you're
around
people
that
that
you
live
with
and
and
there's
social
distancing
there
and
and
it's
just
you
in
that
group
and
then
six
feet
or
eight
feet
away
from
everyone
else.
You
don't
neces.
A
I
would
suggest
you
wear
the
mask,
I
don't
say
not
to
wear
the
mask,
but
I
get
it
it's
a
beach,
but
I
would
suggest
that
when
you're
walking
to
and
from
your
car
or
to
and
from
your
house,
you
should
have
the
mask
on.
A
What
I'm
seeing
on
tv
now
is
is
is
a
lot
of
pushback
on
that.
I
don't
know
if
I
saw
it
correctly,
but
the
mayor
of
portland
was
in
a
group.
I
saw
tear
gas
being
thrown
at
the
crowd.
They
didn't
seem
what
I've
witnessed.
Wasn't
rowdy.
It
wasn't
excessive
behavior
there,
and
I
think
that
you
know
in
situations
like
that.
That's
a
dangerous
situation
and
I
was
on
a
radio
show.
Last
night
people
called
were
mad
about
my
statement.
A
If
the
city
needs
the
assistance
of
the
national
guard
or
federal
authorities
or
other
outside
agencies
generally,
what
happens?
Is
you
have
conversations
about
that?
If
you
notice
here
in
boston
over
the
couple
nights
that
we
had
protests,
we
we
we
asked
for
help
and
we
got
help
from
surrounding
cities
and
towns.
A
The
national
guy
was
in
here
for
a
few
days
and
then,
when
you
don't
need
that
help
anymore,
you
thank
them
and
then,
if
they
need
help
somewhere
down
the
road
with
assistant
having
the
federal
homeland
security,
I
don't
know,
I
don't
think
for
homeless
security
officers
just
arbitrarily
coming
into
a
city
with
doesn't
seem
to
be
tied
into
any
plan.
That's
causing
more
danger,
and
I
think
that
that's
making
matters
in
portland
at
least
what
I'm
witnessing,
and
I
don't
know
firsthand
making
it
much
worse.
A
So,
to
answer
your
question,
if
I
would
ask
the
federal
government
not
to
come
in
here,
if,
if
we
needed
additional
assistance,
the
proper
authorities
reach
out
to
all
the
appropriate
authorities
around
there
and
the
la
the
last
result
would
be
federal.
The
federal
government
so
in
boston-
and
I
haven't
had
to
do
this,
but
I'm
just
gonna
what
we
have
a
little
bit
we
reach
out
to
surrounding
towns.
We
reach
out
to
the
sheriff's
department
we
reach
out
to
the
national
guard
in
the
situation
here.
A
But
before
all
that
happened,
we
tried
to
make
contact
with
the
organizers
of
the
event
and
every
time
you
do,
that
things
go
smooth
and
people
talk
about
what
the
roots
gonna
be,
how
we're
gonna
do
it.
So
if
any
agitators
come
in
in
and
and
kind
of
mix
themselves
in
with
the
with
the
protest,
the
protesters
don't
want
that
either
because
the
protesters,
at
least
in
boston,
have
been
protesting
and
making
points
on
their
protest
and
we've
had,
for
the
most
part,
very
peaceful
protests
here
in
the
city
of
boston.
A
So
I
just
think
that
what
the
president's
doing
it
seems
to
me
by
threatening
to
go
into
chicago
and
other
cities.
It
seems
to
be
more
political
than
actually
dealing
with
the
problem
in
the
street,
because
the
problem
in
portland's
been
going
on
for
55
days
and
all
of
a
sudden
they're
there
today.
So
I
think
that
I
wouldn't
they
would
not
be
welcome
in
boston
unless
invited.
