From YouTube: COVID-19 Media Availability 7/23/20
Description
Mayor Walsh hosts a media availability to discuss updates relating to COVID-19.
A
From
the
previous
day,
statewide
there
have
been
eight
thousand
four
hundred
and
sixty-eight
people
have
died.
That's
up
18
from
the
previous
day.
Those
numbers
combined
both
to
confirm
than
probable
cases
recorded
by
the
state.
The
Boston
numbers
I
have
new
boston
numbers.
As
of
today,
we
recorded
thirteen
thousand
nine
hundred
and
twenty
four
cases.
That's
up
36
from
yesterday,
ten
thousand
and
seven
people
have
recovered
it's
an
increase
of
25
from
yesterday.
A
A
Today,
there's
some
new
announcements,
ANCOVA
testing
access
and
small
business
supports
that
we
have
here
in
the
city.
First
I
want
to
remind
us
all
what
we
need
to
keep
doing
to
keep
safe
and
keep
moving
forward
in
our
recovery.
I
know
that
it's
constantly
repetitive
but
I'm
going
to
continue
to
do
this
until
we
no
longer
have
to
do
this.
A
Consistency
is
definitely
working
for
us.
Our
ability
to
act
together
is
keeping
us
safe
and
if
you
look
at
our
numbers
compared
to
other
parts
of
the
country,
you
can
see
why
this
is
important
on
a
seven-day
average
of
daily
new
cases.
It's
down
this
week.
Our
seven-day
average
for
positive
test
rates
is
also
down
this
week
and
our
seven-day
average
for
new
Kovan
hospital
admissions
is
down
as
well.
Our
residents
and
our
public
is
doing
an
incredible
job
in
a
very
difficult
situation.
A
I
want
to
thank
everyone
for
what
you're
doing
and
I
want
to
encourage
everyone
that,
let's
keep
doing
it
as
we
move
forward
here.
It
looks
like
we're
heading
towards
another
very
hot
weekend,
so
I'll
continue
through
the
week
into
another
hot
weekend.
Many
people
are
going
to
be
outdoors
and
trying
to
get
outdoors
parks,
and
beaches
are
certainly
great
mental
and
physical
health
areas
to
go
for
cooling
off,
but
we
need
to
continue
to
be
diligent
smart
about
it.
We
can
defeat.
A
We
can't
afford
to
see
more
crowded
beaches
like
we
did
saw
last
weekend
here
in
Boston
and
other
parts
of
the
Commonwealth.
If
this
keeps
happening
we'll
get
outbreaks
and
when
you
see
we'll
see
more
restrictions
being
imposed,
we
certainly
can't
afford
to
see
house
parties.
There
was
an
article
in
the
paper
this
today
I
think
it
was
down
one
part
of
the
Cape.
There
was
a
house
party
on
the
12th
of
July
and
is
produced
over
12
cases
of
12
cases
so
far
of
covin.
A
So
let's
all
stay
mindful
this
weekend,
as
we
continue
to
move
forward
here,
you
can
see
the
where
face
covering
when
you're
outside
keep
six
feet
of
distance
from
other
people
and
avoid
large
crowds
wash
your
hands
as
often
as
possible
to
open
warm
water
and
continue
to
to
clean
those
clean
down
those
surfaces
that
are
commonly
touched,
whether
it's
in
your
home
in
your
car
or
your
workspace.
If
you
have
any
concerns,
get
tested,
I
want
to
update
everybody
on
testing
on
Tuesday
I
announced
and
spoke
about
the
new
mobile
team.
A
It
started
this
week
and
a
pop
up
testing
site
at
the
Jackson
Maine
Community
Center
in
Austin,
and
every
two
weeks
it'll
be
in
another
location
in
a
different
neighborhood.
Last
week,
I
also
talked
about
the
outreach
to
let's
see
no
outreach
initiative,
we're
partnering
with
the
Greater
Boston
Latino
Network
to
increase
testing
and
support
in
the
Latino
community
that
builds
on
the
work
of
our
Kovac
19
health
inequities,
Task
Force,
which
helped
us
lead
our
testing
expansion
in
Roxbury
in
Dorchester,
Mattapan,
High
Park
in
East
Boston
we're
now
testing
all
across
the
city.
A
Thanks
to
our
funding
and
our
partnerships
with
our
community
health
centers
we're
gonna
keep
prioritizing
those
partnerships
in
an
equitable
access.
Today,
I
want
to
share
another
partnership
that
we're
expanding
testing
here
in
the
city
of
Boston
starting
tomorrow,
CVS
will
be
performing
drive-through
testing
at
the
pharmacy
on
Center
Street
in
West.
A
Roxbury
it'll
be
the
first
testing
site
in
the
neighborhood
of
West
Roxbury
and
we
are
working
with
CVS
or
we're
going
to
be
working
with
CVS
over
the
next
few
weeks
to
bring
testing
to
pharmacies
and
other
parts
of
the
city,
including
Dorchester
and
high
park.
Rosendale,
Austin
and
Brighton.
These
services
will
run
by
online
appointments
at
CVS
comm,
and
the
results
will
be
delivered
through
CVS's
Minute
Clinic
system
to
be
eligible
for
this
test.
A
You
must
be
18
years
or
older
and
meet
certain
criteria,
including
either
having
kovat
symptoms,
an
exposure
or
presence
of
a
large
public
presence
at
a
large
public
gathering
or
if
you
live
or
work
in
Long
team,
long-term
care
and
group
facilities
or
shelters
there'll
be
no
out-of-pocket
expense,
whether
you
have
insurance
or
not.
I
want
to
thank
CVS
and
I
want
to
thank
the
workers
at
CVS
for
making
these
services
available
to
the
residents
of
the
city
of
Boston
for
keeping
their
stores
open
during
the
pandemic
and
providing
medication
and
essential
health
products.
A
This
focus
on
Public
Health
is,
as
I've
said,
the
foundation
of
all
of
our
recovery
here
in
Boston
in
the
Commonwealth
I
wanted
to
update
you
on
a
few
aspects
of
how
we
are
moving
forward.
Last
night,
superintendent,
Brenda
cassellius
and
her
team
presented
a
draft
plan
at
the
Boston
Public
School
Committee
in
a
return
for
school.
This
fall
that
would
combine
in-person
and
remote
learning
a
great
deal
of
research,
dialogue,
thought
and
care
went
into
this
draft,
but
it
is
a
draft
in
the
process
of
getting
input
and
feedback
is
going
to
continue.
A
The
superintendent's
gonna
be
meeting
with
the
unions
with
employees
and
with
public
stakeholder
groups.
I
know
that
families
are
angry,
anxious
to
see
a
very
concrete
plan,
so
I
want
to
be
clear
about
the
values
that
are
guiding
this
plan
and
why
it's
important
to
take
time
for
all
of
us
to
get
it
right.
Public
health
data
continues
to
inform
all
the
decisions
that
we
have,
including
whether
or
not
our
kids
will
be
in
school
on
September
10th,
and
we
continue
to
monitor
the
data.
As
I
mentioned
earlier
on
a
daily
and
weekly
basis.
A
We
prioritized
the
health
and
safety
of
our
children's
teachers
and
staff
when
it
comes
to
our
schools
and,
at
the
same
time,
equity
is
certainly
a
major
concern
by
September
kids
now
Boston
Public
School
System
will
have
been
out
of
school
for
sick
or
nearly
six
months
we
have
worked
to
get
food
technology
and
mental
health
supports
to
every
family
and
every
child
who
needs
it.
But
the
disruption
brought
on
by
this
crisis
inevitably
increases
existing
gaps
in
inequities.
A
We
have
to
consider
what
remote
learning
means
for
low-income
students
and
students
of
color
who
have
fewer
resources
at
home.
We
have
to
consider
the
sports
that
students
with
disabilities
and
students
with
English
language
learning
needs.
We
are
weighing
all
of
the
needs
and
we
are
committed
to
meeting
all
of
the
needs
so
to
our
families.
I
ask
for
your
continued
input
for
your
continued
patience
as
a
school
department
works
through
all
of
these
different
factors.
A
Regardless
of
the
situation
we
picked,
there
will
be
an
opt-out
part
of
going
back
to
school.
So
if
we
decide
to
do
the
hybrid
model
in
September,
parents
will
have
the
option
to
opt
out
and
have
their
children
to
remote
learning
and
again,
we'll
talk
more
about
that.
As
we
move
forward,
we
still
have
about
seven
weeks
so
opening
day
of
school
and
that's
a
lot
of
time
as
we've
seen
with
kovat
19,
as
you
may
have
seen.
Yesterday,
we
announced
street
sweeping
enforcement
will
resume
on
Monday
August
10th.
A
We
will
be
ticketing
cars
and
on
street
cleaning
days,
not
showing
them.
Street
cleaning
normally
runs
from
April
1st
through
November
30th,
but
we
should
spend
a
ticketing
and
towing
to
get
people
a
break
during
the
stay
at
home
water
in
the
early
stages
of
our
reopening
as
summer
progresses.
We
don't
want
to
see
dirt
and
trash
buildup
on
our
streets,
and
we've
received
several
complaints
from
that.
So
we
starting
this
Monday
coming,
the
27th
will
be
going.
A
We've
been
putting
Flyers
on
cars
to
let
people
know
what's
coming,
which
means
that
it'll
be
like
the
old
rules
of
street
cleaning.
You'll
have
to
move
your
car
to
the
other
side
of
the
street.
Look
at
the
signs
and
find
out
what
the
8th
street
cleaning
is.
We're
gonna
do
that
for
a
full
two
weeks,
because
we
know
that
people
are
out
of
the
habit
of
moving
their
cars
and
we
want
to
give
them
the
chance
just
to
readjust.
So
as
we
move
forward,
then
in
August
10th
ticketing
for
street
sweeping
will
resume.
A
You
can
sign
up
at
Boston
gov
to
get
the
street
cleaning
alert
on
your
cell
phone.
So
let's
go
to
Boston
gov
for
the
street
cleaning
alert
on
your
cell
phone
I
actually
didn't
know.
We
had
that
so
I
read
this,
and
these
notes
a
little
while
ago,
which
is
a
good
thing.
I
wish
we
had
it
back
in
the
day.
Wouldn't
it
got
so
many
tickets.
Small
businesses
are
vital
to
our
economy.
They
are
vital
to
our
communities
and
we
know
that
they
have
been
hit
hard
by
this
crisis.
Extremely
hard.
A
I
want
to
remind
everyone
that
the
eviction
moratorium
that
the
governor
extended
to
October
17th
also
applies
to
small
businesses,
so
I
urge
commercial
landlords
as
well
as
residential
and
lots
to
be
compassionate
and
flexible,
also
contact
your
bank's
about
programs
that
that
that
your
banks
have
as
well
that
I'm
not
sure
if
they've
extended
them,
but
we're
in
place
that,
if
you're
having
a
hard
time
paying
in
mortgage,
that
gonna
help
you
and
work
with
you.
Just
don't
don't
assume
that
they're
not
going
to
do
that.
A
We
want
to
recognize
that
this
is
a
difficult
time
and
we
will
get
it
through
it
together
by
working
together
to
recover
and
rebuild
our
economy.
We've
dedicated
over
13.5
million
dollars
to
help
small
businesses
impacted
by
kovat
19.
Our
small
business
relief
fund
has
distributed
6.5
million
dollars
to
nearly
1,900
small
businesses.
A
50%
of
those
businesses
are
owned
by
people
of
color.
47%
of
those
are
immigrant
owned
businesses.
The
reopen
Boston
fund
has
distributed
1.7
million
dollars
to
over
a
thousand
businesses
for
safety
measures,
measures,
including
PPE,
partitions
and
outdoor
spaces.
This
week
we're
expanding
the
reopening
fund
to
include
more
businesses.
It
was
set
up
for
phase
2,
we're
expanding
more
businesses
to
capture
capture
summer
phase
3
before
it
was
limited
to
businesses,
which
is
15.
A
Employees
are
fewer
now,
which
opens
up
businesses
up
to
25
employees
and
we're
also
opening
it
to
businesses
that
may
not
have
a
brick-and-mortar
location
but
still
have
direct
contact
with
customers
and
clients
who
do
business
in
here.
In
the
city
of
Boston,
for
more
information,
you
go
to
Boston
gov,
slash,
reopening
that's
Boston,
gov,
slash
reopening
we're,
also
continuing
our
work,
increasing
to
increased
visibility
for
businesses
impacted
by
the
Cova
19
crisis.
We
have
directories
of
open
businesses
on
Boston
gov,
for
anyone
can
go
and
find
out
what's
open
and
what
business
is
open.
A
You
can
submit
your
business
to
be
on
that
list
as
well.
If
you're
not
on
that
list,
we
also
want
to
empower
businesses
to
reach
out
and
bring
to
bring
back
their
customers
just
starting
this
week
we
are
providing
free
posters
for
small
businesses
in
both
print
and
digital
form,
in
17
different
languages,
to
help
create
visibility
for
your
businesses.
This
offer
is
open
to
any
small
business.
A
With
a
storefront
in
the
city
of
Boston,
you
can
just
go
to
Boston
gov,
slash
business
posters
enter
your
information,
and
you
will
receive
a
uniquely
designed
colorful
poster
that
she
has
your
services
hours
and
safety.
Warnings
and
I
have
a
copy
of
the
poster
right
here.
A
couple
copies
of
the
poster
right
here:
three
copies,
so
what
it
does
it
allows
people
when
they're
walking
by
they'll,
see
something
new
in
the
window.
A
Also
city
contracting
we're
going
to
be
hosting
two
workshops
to
help
businesses
gain
a
better
understanding
of
the
request
for
proposal
process
in
the
bidding
process.
Here
in
the
city
of
Boston,
if
you
provide
product
that
the
city
buys
or
professional
services
that
the
city
uses,
we
have
a
workshop,
this
coming
Tuesday
on
the
28th.
If
you're
interested
on
how
to
bid
on
construction
contracts,
we
have
a
workshop
on
Wednesday
August
5th.
A
A
Unfortunately,
I
just
want
to
I
have
to
conclude
again
by
stating
my
concern
about
federal
actions
originating
in
the
white
house
that
are
harmful
to
cities
like
the
city
of
Boston,
I've
been
promoting
and
we've
all
been
promoting
the
2020
US
census
from
this
podium
in
every
platform
that
I
have
and
that
other
people
have
it's,
how
we
get
fair
representation
in
Congress
and
the
ability
to
get
even
maybe
more
representation
in
Congress.
It's
how
we
get
our
fair
share
of
federal
resources,
its
required
in
the
United
States
Constitution.
A
However,
this
week
the
president
released
a
memo
seeking
to
cut
some
immigrants
out
of
the
census
population
numbers
for
redistricting
purposes.
To
be
absolutely
clear.
The
United
States
Constitution
requires
that
every
person
living
in
the
United
States
of
America
be
counted
and
to
be
very
clear.
All
of
us
in
Boston
want
every
single
person
that
lives
in
the
city
of
Boston
to
be
counted
because
it
makes
a
difference.
There's
no
exceptions
for
immigration
status.
A
This
is
a
political
move
to
undercount
and
undermine
communities
that
have
large
amounts
of
immigrants
and
also
hurting
urban
areas
like
Boston,
the
president
has
gone
out
of
his
way
to
make
sure
cities
and
towns
across
America
are
struggling
to
count
everywhere.
The
census
happens
every
ten
years,
just
to
get
a
quick
understanding
of
it.
In
the
last
three
census
counts.
We
have
lost
a
member
of
Congress
each
of
those
ten
years,
so
we're
down
three
members.
A
Only
were
thirty
years
ago
in
the
city
of
Boston,
we
have
lost
seats
in
the
House
of
Representatives,
that
used
to
be
all
Boston
seats,
another
shared
but
was
lost
off
seats
because
Boston's
population
has
gone
down.
We've
lost
count
in
the
the
Massachusetts
state
Senate
and
we've
lost
revenue,
because
other
cities
and
towns
population
counts
are
higher
than
ours.
So
if
we
count
up
population
and
get
every
single
person,
it
will
help
us
get
our
fair
share
of
federal
dollars
here
to
Boston
to
help
us
with
whatever
we
need
it
for.
A
A
This
proposal
is
unlikely
to
hold
up
in
court
and
I
appreciate
the
members
of
Congress
and
the
Massachusetts
delegation
who
promise
to
fight
it.
We
need
to
stand
up
right
now
and
say
it's
wrong
and
I
would
say
to
any
immigrant,
including
members
of
my
own
family,
don't
be
intimidated.
Make
sure
that
you
fill
out
the
interest
and
the
census,
and
the
best
thing
that
we
can
do
right
now
is
fill
out
your
census
form
and
I'm
asking
everyone
who's
listening.
A
Well,
if
you
could
pass
it
along
if
your
family
hasn't
filled
it
out
of
UFL,
though
there's
two
ways
you
can
come
in
contact
with
the
Census
Bureau
one
is
go
to
my
2020
census
gov.
That's
my
2020
census,
gov
roll
by
calling
840
four
three
three
Oh
OH!
Oh
the
census,
can
be
done
in
13
different
languages.
It
just
takes
a
couple
of
minutes
to
complete
and
all
the
information
that
you
put
on
there
is
confidential
and
I
invite
everyone
to
do
more.
A
Ask
your
families
and
friends
and
neighbors
if
they
filled
out
the
accept
the
census,
explain
to
them
how
important
it
is
and
what's
on
that
steak,
if
they
need
help,
help
them
respond.
If
they
don't
know
how
to
do
it,
we
needed
all
hands
on
deck
for
this
census,
because
kovat
is
making
it
very
difficult
for
us
and
actually
set
us
back
and
being
able
to
get
out
there
and
do
more
face-to-face
contacts.
We're
asking
you
to
please
make
sure
and
help
us
that
every
single
person
counts
next
week.
A
Next
week
the
unemployment
benefits
and
the
federal
Kids
Act
are
going
to
expire.
If
new
forms
of
relief
don't
arrive,
many
families
and
individuals
are
going
to
be
facing
serious
struggles.
We're
going
to
see
that
struggle
here
in
the
city
of
Boston,
as
people
reach
out
for
help
in
cities,
are
going
to
be
struggling
as
well
all
across
America.
A
It's
important
for
us
that
we
continue
to
make
sure
that
we
advocate
on
behalf
of
Boston
and
Massachusetts
the
country
there's
a
piece
of
legislation
that
is
in
the
United
States
Senate
that
passed
the
United
States
House,
which
is
called
the
heroes
Act.
It
provides
stimulus,
relief
who
provide
direct
support
for
states
and
local
governments,
local
businesses
and
budgets,
and
that's
vitally
important
and
I'm
joining
with
other
mayors
and
calling
the
Senate
to
pass
the
same
piece
of
legislation.
A
We
need
Congress
to
get
this
done
before
they
adjourn
for
the
summer.
I
want
to
thank
the
Massachusetts
delegation
for
their
leadership
and
clarity
on
what
is
needed.
We
are
in
communication
with
them
and
they
understand
what
we
are
facing
to
understand.
The
local
needs
look
at
the
numbers
in
Boston
alone,
over
2
million
over
2
million
meals
have
been
distributed.
A
Those
struggles
hurt
people
of
color
disproportionately,
it's
an
aspect
of
systemic
racism
that
gets
worse
even
during
this
recession,
the
needs
are
still
with
us
and
very
much
with
us.
The
virus
is
still
very
much
with
us.
There
is
no
time
to
wait.
Families
across
America
and
right
here
in
Boston
are
going
to
be
hanging
on
by
a
thread.
This
is
the
time
to
put
politics
and
partisan
politics
aside,
come
together
and
get
something
done
so
I'd
ask
us
all
to
reach
out
to
our
senators
and
let
them
know
I
mean
without
you.
A
Senators
are
on
board
with
us,
but
we
need
to
let
them
know
the
sense
of
urgency
there.
So
I
want
to
thank
you.
I
have
one
question
from
the
press:
that's
pre
submitted
and
they'll
open
up
the
presses
here.
The
question
is
from
WBUR
Lansdowne
Street
is
going
pedestrian-only
on
game
day,
Red
Sox
game
days
and
the
restaurants
are
encouraging
people
to
come
for
outdoor
dining.
Are
you
concerned
that
this
could
lead
to
crowds
possibly
spreading
the
coronavirus?
Does
this
defeat
the
purpose
of
not
allowing
fans
to
attend
the
game?
A
Our
licensing
board
and
all
the
city
departments
have
been
working
hard
to
ensure
that
restaurants
permitted
for
outdoor
dining,
adhere
to
the
state
guidelines
and
limit
and
limit
and
limit
the
further
spread
of
the
Cova
19.
In
this
specific
space
in
case,
the
licensing
board
is
not
allowing
these
new
outdoor
spaces
of
entertainment,
just
food
and
beverage
service
outside
in
this
goes
from
other
establishments.
A
I
know
that
it's
exciting
here
in
the
city,
the
Red
Sox,
are
starting
Friday
and
people
want
to
be
around
the
park,
but
honestly
for
your
own
health
interest.
It's
not
necessarily
the
best
place
to
be
around
large
crowds,
so
my
suggestion
is,
unfortunately,
all
of
us
will
be
watching
the
Red
Sox,
the
Bruins,
the
Celtics,
and
hopefully
the
Patriots
in
September.
Most
of
that
I
think
will
be
on
TV
until
it's
safe
to
go
back
to
the
stadiums
with
that
I'm
going
to
open
it
up
for
questions.
A
A
We've
been
talking
to
colleges,
universities
regularly
since
the
beginning
of
this
crisis,
we're
going
to
continue
to
work
with
them,
they're,
putting
their
plans
together,
obviously
to
open
school,
but
I
think
from
the
time
we
started
this
conversation
a
couple
of
months
ago,
with
the
colleges
seeing
what's
happening
around
the
country
certainly
is
concerning
me
many
of
our
college
students
that
come
to
Boston
to
school.
They
live
here.
They
work
here,
part
time.
A
Many
of
these
students
are
going
to
be
coming
from
high
risk
States
at
this
point,
so
we're
going
to
be
monitoring
this
situation
very
closely.
I
think
I
have
a
call
with
colleges
sometime
this
week
to
talk
them
about
this
and
I
think
they
have
that
concern
as
well.
It's
a
double-edged
sword,
I'd
love
to
see
the
college
students
come
back
for
their
education,
for
our
colleges
and
for
our
economy,
but
also
I'm
concerned
about.
If
we
don't
have
a
real
good
screening
process,
what
does
that
mean
for
our
numbers
down
the
road.
B
A
Sorry
I
didn't
hear
that.
Well,
the
please
be
looking
out
for
parties.
I
mean
quite
honestly,
I
think
that
college
students
that
come
here
in
the
fall
we're
going
to
be
asking
them
to
police
himself.
I
mean
we
will
be
looking
out
for
it,
but
the
last
thing
I
want
to
do
is
send
our
public
safety
personnel
police
officers
to
a
party
that
shouldn't
be
happening.
If
you
look
at
as
you
wanted
these
situations,
there's
enough
cases
now
in
the
country
of
kovat
increase
in
testing
that
came
out
of
a
house
party.
A
This
whole
conversation
that
we're
having
not
blaming
it,
but
our
kovat,
beginning
days
in
march,
came
out
of
a
convent
conference
down
the
street
at
the
hotel,
where
those
150
attendees
and
roughly
a
hundred
people
caught
kovat
in
that
one
room
over
that
one.
It's
one
one
run
convention,
so
people
need
to
be
careful.
I
would
not
advise
college
students
to
be
having
parties
and
I
think
that
college
students
are
going
to
be
living
on
campus
I
think
that
the
college
really
pretty
strict
with
the
rules
and
regulations
if
I
have
to
I'd
use
police.
A
It's
early,
the
question
is
what
am
I
gonna
say
to
parents
who
are
frustrated
by
the
lack
of
details.
I,
don't
know
who's
I,
don't
know
who's
upset
by
the
lack
of
details.
We
unveiled
it
yesterday,
we're
in
the
process
now
of
talking
about
it.
What
we
have
to
do
here
in
Boston
is
deci
is
asking
us
for
three
models
to
submit
to
them,
but
in
July
one
of
those
models
is
going
to
be
all
in
school
teaching
which
we
know
was
not
gonna
happen,
but
we're
going
to
present
the
model.
A
A
The
second
model
and
the
third
model
is
gonna,
be
all
online
and
how
we've
learned
over
the
last
since
the
beginnings
as
much
19th
how
we've
learned
from
when
we
went
online
and
much
much
this
18th
compared
to
how
we're
doing
for
the
summer.
Things
have
changed
and
we've
gotten
better
at
it.
So
there's
gonna
be
three
different
rules.
Three
different
situations,
my
goal
today,
my
intention
today,
July
23rd,
would
be
to
have
school
open,
September
10.
That
would
be
my
hope.
A
One
week
from
today,
I
could
be
standing
at
this
podium
and
saying
that
we've
had
a
big
increase
this
last
week,
which
means
that
we
would
not
be
talking
about
sending
our
kids
potentially
to
school
September
10.
So
this
is
going
to
be
an
ongoing
fluid
situation.
This
has
never
happened
in
the
history
of
the
world
or
the
United
States
of
America.
We've
had
to
shut
school
down
as
we
reimagine
school
starting
up
in
September
or
whatever.
A
That
model
is
that
we
potentially
gonna
have
a
hybrid,
so
I'd
ask
everyone
to
be
patient
and
we're
gonna
get
information
out
to
people
as
often
as
transparent
as
possible.
There's
been
no
final
decision
because
there
can
be
no
final
decision.
Quite
honestly,
probably
right
up
to
almost
the
beginning
of
school.
There
will
be
an
understanding
as
we
get
towards
school.
What
the
preferred
option
is,
but
it's
still
too
early
to
absolutely
say
that
September
10th,
we
will
be
in
school,
absolutely
I'm
saying
today.
I
would
like
to
be
in
school.
A
A
A
Personally
and
as
mayor
of
the
city
about
our
kids,
not
being
in
school.
For
the
last
six
months,
we
already
have
an
achievement
gap
that
we're
trying
to
overcome
I,
see
that
achievement
gap,
growing
I'm,
seeing
children
that
learned
in
in
March
or
maybe
been
online
they're,
not
retaining
the
knowledge
that
they're
learning
I'm
concerned
that
we're
going
to
be
pushing
kids
through
a
system.
Quite
honestly
that
you
know
they
prepared
for
the
next
grade
level.
Work
that's
going
to
be
happening.
A
Teachers
are
going
to
be
working
extra,
hard,
I
believe
in
a
lot
of
ways,
not
only
to
teach
our
kids
the
information
in
front
of
them,
but
also
get
them
caught
up
on
the
on
the
on
the
on
the
on
the
on
the
on
the
lack
of
instruction.
That's
happened
over
the
last
six
months,
meaning
that
not
that
they
weren't
taught
but
with
if
what
they
have
retained,
so
I
have
major
concerns
about
our
system.
A
I
think
that
on
a
national
level
and
on
a
local
level
state
level,
there
has
to
be
deeper
conversations
about
this.
It's
not
just
simply
about
reopening
school,
it's
about
the
education
that
kids
are
getting
and
what
type
of
education
they're
getting
in
the
classroom,
so
I
have
major
concerns
on
all
of
education.
That's
why
Sean
to
Shaun's
point,
you
know
I
heard
the
pushback
I
saw
the
tweet
just
say
in
the
Facebook
poll.
This
is
crazy.
A
B
A
A
I
haven't
necessarily
the
question
is
on
the
beaches,
particularly
in
South
Boston
I'm
straight
about
limiting
it
to
just
residents
I'm,
making
an
assumption
here.
I
think
most
of
the
people
using
the
beaches
are
residents
that
are
walking
down
to
the
beach
and
I.
Don't
know
how
you
can
time
passes,
I'm,
not
sure
I
can
do
that.
I
know
the
state
was
looking
and
having
conversations.
I
have
not
had
a
chance
to
follow
up
with
the
state
today.
A
A
What
I'm
seeing
on
TV
now
is,
is
there's
a
lot
of
pushback
on
that
I.
Don't
know
if
I
saw
it
correctly,
but
the
mayor
of
Portland
was
in
a
group.
I
saw
tear
gas
being
thrown
at
the
crowd,
they
didn't
seem
what
I've
witnessed
wasn't
rowdy.
It
wasn't
excessive
behavior
there
and
I
think
that
you
know
in
situations
like
that.
That's
a
dangerous
situation
and
I
was
on
a
radio
show.
A
Last
night
people
call
them
mad
about
my
statement
if
a
city
needs
the
assistance
of
the
National,
Guard
or
federal
authorities
or
other
outside
agencies
generally,
what
happens?
Is
you
have
conversations
about
that?
If
you
notice
here
in
Boston
over
the
couple
nights
of
your
protests,
we
ask
for
help
and
we
got
help
from
surrounding
cities
and
towns.
A
The
national
guy
was
in
here
for
a
few
days
and
then,
when
you
don't
need
that
help
anymore,
you
thank
them
and
then,
if
they
need
help
somewhere
down
the
road
with
with
assistant
having
the
federal
Homeland,
Security
I
know,
I
don't
fit
for
most
carry
offices
just
arbitrarily
coming
into
a
city.
What
doesn't
seem
to
be
tied
into
any
plan
that
that's
causing
get
more
danger
and
I
think
that
that's
making,
not
as
in
Portland
at
least
what
I'm
witnessing
and
I
don't
know
firsthand
making
it
much
worse.
A
So
to
answer
your
question,
if
I
would
ask
the
federal
government
not
to
come
in
here,
if,
if
we
needed
additional
assistance,
the
proper
authorities
to
reach
out
to
all
the
appropriate
authorities
around
there
and
the
last
result
would
be
federal.
The
federal
government,
so
in
Boston
and
I
haven't,
had
to
do
this,
but
I'm
just
gonna
what
we
have
a
little
bit
we
reach
out
to
surrounding
towns.
We
reach
out
to
the
Sheriff's
Department
we
reach
out
to
the
National
Guard
in
the
situation
here.
A
But
before
all
that
happens,
we
tried
to
make
contact
with
the
organizers
of
the
event
and
every
time
you
do
that
things
go
smooth
and
people
talk
about
what
the
routes
gonna
be,
how
we're
gonna
do
it.
So
if
any
agitators
come
in
in
inter
and
kind
of
mix,
themself
in
with
that
with
the
protest,
the
protesters
don't
want
that
either
because
the
protesters
at
least
in
Boston,
have
been
protesting
and
making
points
on
their
protest
and
we've
had,
for
the
most
part,
very
peaceful
protests
here
in
the
city
of
Boston.
A
So
I
just
think
that
what
the
president
is
doing
it
seems
to
me
by
threatening
to
go
into
Chicago
in
other
cities.
It
seems
to
be
more
political
than
actually
dealing
with
the
problem
in
the
street,
because
the
prominent
Portland's
been
going
on
for
55
days
all
of
a
sudden
there
today,
so
I
think
that
I,
wouldn't
they
would
not
be
welcome
in
Boston
and
less
invited.
