D
D
We've
asked
the
design
team
to
have
a
historical
consultant
as
part
of
their
team
and
the
in
the
renovation
of
this
building.
The
Massachusetts
historic
Commission
has
identified
the
Curley
Center
in
the
waterfront
neighborhood
in
South
Boston,
as
potentially
eligible
for
the
National
Register
of
Historic
Places.
D
Work
for
this
project
includes
building
envelope,
repairs,
exterior
entrances
and
stairs
opening
up
the
building
to
some
of
the
exterior
views
towards
the
harbor.
Some
interior,
reconfiguration

finishes,
establishment
of
gathering
spaces

providing
an
elevator
mechanical
electrical
plumbing
and
fire
protection
work
and
some
limited
site
work.
The
designer
selection
committee
included
several
folks
from
PFD,
as
well
as
from
BC
YF.
We
met
and
reviewed
the
qualifications
of
12
firms.
D
The
South
Boston
based
firm
design,
lab
architects
was
shortlisted
and
recommended
for
the
project
rankings
were
based
on
experience
with
interior
public
spaces
or
communal
spaces
or
recreation
centers
or
community
centers
experience
with
waterfront
sites
and
buildings
adjacent
to
marine
environments
were
preferred,
but
not
required.
Design
lab
successfully
worked
with
us
on
the
city
halldor's
project,
which
includes
some
work
on
graphics,
wayfinding,
restoration
of
the
doors
and
some
Lobby
circulation.
D
The
estimated
construction
cost
for
the
Curley
community
center
is
10
million.
Five
hundred
sixty
three
thousand
eight
hundred
forty
nine
dollars.
The
basic
services
fee
proposed
with
design
lab,
is
eight
hundred
ninety
seven
thousand
nine
hundred
twenty
seven
dollars
and
the
additional
services
budget
of
282
thousand
one
hundred
fifty
dollars
the
total
contract
duration
with
design
lab,
including
design
and
construction
ministration
bidding
period
130
weeks.
So,
for
the
foregoing
reasons,
I
request
approval
of
the
vote
and
happy
to
answer
any
questions.
Thank
you.
A
Actually,
it's
not
a
question
more
of
a
comment.
I
know
that
building
quite
well
and
one
of
the
things
that's
actually
used
by
the
city
is
for
elections
and
one
of
the
comments
I'd
making
your
design
there's
always
been
a
problem
in
that
room
with
not
enough
lighting
for
for
the
election
officials
and
so
forth.
I
think
it's
the
M
Street
side
just.

If
you'd

E
Good
morning,
commissioners
I'm
here
to
request
a
vote
for
approval
to
award
and
the
owners
project
managers
contract
to
Skanska
us
a
building
incorporated
for
the
City
Hall

Plaza
renovations
project,
Skanska
scope
of
services
includes
owners,
project
management
services
to
assist
the
city
of
Boston
in
managing
the
process
of
design
and
construction
for
phased
renovations
to
the
building
in
the
plaza
of
City
Hall.
The
city
recently
completed
a
feasibility
study
which
examined
the
needs
and
identified
improvements
to
the
infrastructure
of
City
Hall
in
the
plaza.
E
This
project
follows
recommendations
in
the
feasibility
study
report,
which
includes
repairs
to
the
infrastructure
of
the
building,
in
plaza
along
with
improving
operations,
programming,
accessibility
and
sustainable
stormwater
management.
The
project
includes
Bay's
design
and
construction
supported
by
appropriated
funds
over
five
years,
I'm
just
going
to
direct
your
attention
to
a
slides.
The
slide
number
one
here
is
an
aerial
view
of
City
Hall,
the
existing
shot
of
the
City
Hall,
and
you
can
see
the
old
fountain
cover
with
that
looks
like
a
baseball
diamond
and
then
the
new
MBTA
head
house,
the
lower
left-hand
side
again.
E
The
second
second
photo
here
is
another
existing
shot.
Looking
at
the
the
brick
pavers
going
through
City,
Hall,
plaza
and,
of
course,
the
existing
structure
itself,
the
concrete
structure
and
finally,
the
third
photo
here-
is
a
concept
design
that
was
done
by
the
feasibility,
architects
and
just
showing
some
ideas
that
have
come
up
with
making
me
plaza
itself,
more
friendly,
more
welcoming
and
showing
new
infrastructure
that
provides
welcoming
civic,
cultural
in
event,
spaces.
E
The
city
publicly
advertised
for
OPM
services
in
December
of
2017
and
response
six
firms
submitted
statements
of
qualifications
for
the
project.
A
selection
committee
comprised
of
five
people
with
experience
in
design
and
construction
management
from
the
city
of
Boston's
Boston,
public
facilities,
department
and
property
management
department,
reviewed
the
qualifications
of
each
firm
against
defined
criteria
and
the
request
for
qualifications.
E
E
Additionally,
the
team
experience
in
Boston's
downtown
area
interfacing
with
difficult
subsurface
conditions
in
engagement
with
the
MBTA
on
prior
construction
projects.
Moreover,
skanska
included
C
point
partners,
a
state
registered
woman
owned
business
as
a
sub
consultant
to
that's
team
for

evaluated
the

The
committee
determined
that
58

the

F
The
vote

to

individual
contracts,
26

to
exceed

For
all
the

each
over
a
five-year

To
be
clear,
these
contracts
will
be
executed
to
the
not-to-exceed
limit,
but
the
contracts
will
be
encumbered
as
projects
are
funded
and
approved
to
move
forward.
