Gen yon rale k'ap fèt pou ogmante Bekann ble yo e kòman ou kapab ede BTD planifye nouvo estasyon nan Hyde Park ak Mattapan
A
Hi,
my
name
is
kim
foltz
and
I
work
for
the
boston
transportation
department
this
year.
The
city
of
boston
is
planning
bike,
share
stations
in
new
parts
of
matapan
and
for
the
first
time
in
hyde
park,
I'm
going
to
give
you
a
brief
overview
of
our
public
bike
share
system,
blue
bikes
and
how
the
city
of
boston
plans
for
new
stations,
then
I'll,
explain
how
you
can
help
us
decide
where
new
stations
should
be
placed.
A
A
Since
the
system
launched
in
2011,
people
have
taken
more
than
11
million
trips,
including
more
than
two
and
a
half
million.
Last
year,
blue
bikes
is
owned
by
the
municipalities
of
boston,
brookline,
cambridge,
everett
and
somerville.
Together
we
have
340
stations
across
the
boston
metro
area,
you've,
probably
seen
stations
in
boston.
Our
typical
station
is
52
feet,
long
with
room
for
19
bikes.
A
A
A
A
A
A
So
that's
where
we're
planning
new
stations
this
year,
we
are
finding
sites
for
about
10
news
stations
to
reach
additional
households
in
matapan
and
hyde
park.
Planning
in
new
neighborhoods
always
starts
by
asking.
Where
do
residents
need
to
go
what
neighborhood
locations
would
you
like
to
access
by
bike?
A
We
can't
ask
these
questions
in
person
this
year,
so
we're
providing
a
way
for
you
to
give
us
ideas
online,
but
before
we
invite
your
suggestions,
we
want
to
share
the
guidelines
for
what
makes
a
good
station
first.
We
need
to
keep
stations
relatively
close
together.
Nearby
stations
mean
more
places
to
find
or
dock
a
bike,
so
bike
share
is
convenient
in
a
neighborhood
with
blue
bikes.
You'll
never
be
more
than
10
minutes
from
a
station.
A
Also
keeping
stations
close
together
helps
the
system
run
more
reliably.
If
you
find
one
station
empty,
the
next
one
should
be
not
too
far
away
lots
of
trips
start
and
end
in
areas
with
very
high
job
density,
for
example,
downtown
back
bay
and
the
seaport
district.
So
we
have
more
bikes
and
docks
available
there
to
meet
that
demand
in
the
other
areas
of
the
system.
A
We
keep
the
stations
no
more
than
half
a
mile
apart,
so
you
are
never
more
than
a
10
minute
walk
from
blue
bikes,
as
you
think
about
spaces
that
might
be
good
for
bike
share
in
your
community.
Keep
in
mind.
There
are
lots
of
different
places.
We
can
put
stations
when
possible.
We
prefer
off-street
sites
so
that
bikes
are
available
for
our
users.
Year-Round
city-owned
sidewalks
are
the
most
common
bike
share
locations,
but
sometimes
sidewalks
aren't
wide
enough.
So
then
we
will
use
the
street.
A
A
A
A
Finally,
our
crews
need
to
be
able
to
access
the
station
by
vehicle
to
keep
the
system
running
smoothly,
but
what's
most
important,
a
great
bike
share
station
is
in
a
location
where
people
want
to
go
and
that's
where
we
need
your
help
to
suggest
a
general
area
that
would
be
good
for
bike
share
visit,
boston.gov
bike
share
expansion,
click
on
suggest,
a
location
in
matapan
and
hyde
park
in
the
survey
form.
The
map
area
outlined
in
blue
is
the
focus
for
new
stations
this
year.
