A
A
So
we're
here
today
to
celebrate
the
reconstruction
of
a
set
of
7th
streets
in
the
Masen
Park
area.
A
couple
of
years
ago,
there
were
streets
in
this
neighborhood
that
were
buckling.
There
were
sidewalks,
they
were
heaving
and
the
neighborhood
residents,
the
Madison
Park
Development
Corporation,
the
city
got
together
and
created
a
plan
plan,
the
resulted
in
a
2.6
million
dollar
investment
and
these
seven
rebuilt
streets.
A
Today,
we're
celebrating
the
work
on
Madison
Park,
a
project
that
brought
better
streets
new
street
trees,
better
sidewalks
and
work.
That
would
not
have
been
possible
without
great
collaboration
between
the
residents
and
the
leadership
of
our
mayor,
who
has
created
the
largest
capital
budget
in
the
city's
history,
and
it
is
investing
that
capital
budget
and
the
things
that
our
residents
care
about
most.
So
it's
my
honor
to
welcome
our
mayor
to
the
podium
mayor,
Martin,
J,
Walsh,.
C
Thank
you
very
much
Chris,
and
let
me
first
of
all
thank
you,
Chris
and
all
the
people
at
transportation
for
the
great
work
you
do.
I
want
to
thank
Leslie
and
all
the
folks
at
Madison,
Park
Development
Corporation,
for
their
great
work.
I
want
to
give
a
special
shout
out
to
the
students
of
the
John
D
O'brien
school
that
are
here
with
us
today.
C
Very
exciting
here
to
the
community,
the
residents
that
he
here,
how
about
a
shout
out
in
a
round
of
applause
for
the
residents
Tok.
Thank
you
very
much
residents,
as
Chris
said
today,
was
celebrating
the
full
reconstruction
of
roadways
and
sidewalks
in
this.
In
this
great
neighborhood.
For
many
years,
the
sidewalks
have
been
in
bad
need
of
repair,
and
it's
something
that
we
supposed
to
do
as
a
city
to
make
sure
that
we
take
pride
in
our
community.
C
Take
pride
in
our
neighborhoods
and
we've
been
able
to
reconstruct
we're
doing
Public
Works,
Madison
Park,
making
sure
that
this
happens,
and
it
truly
is
about
collaboration.
Madison
Park,
Development
Corporation
has
been
doing
incredible,
work,
updating
buildings
in
this
area
and
working
in
this
area
and
doing
great
things.
Well,
the
plan
is
to
revitalize
and
and
transform
neighborhoods
and
that's
what
we
want
to
do.
We
want
people
and
you
walk
to
the
neighborhood,
that
people
are
proud
of
their
neighborhood
when
they
walk
down
the
street,
not
broken
sidewalks
and
dirty
streets.
C
We
got
to
make
sure
that
the
streets
reflect
our
community
and
our
values
in
the
City
of
Austin.
This
project,
the
intention
behind
this
project,
was
help
us
with
congestion
on
the
roads,
grave
city,
safer
community
before
students,
fraud
teaches
for
our
staff,
both
at
Madison
Park
in
John,
the
O'brien,
the
neighborhoods
we're
also
working
in
Chris
already
mentioned
about
upcoming
projects.
We
have
a
plan
for
the
city,
12
Majan,
Boston,
2030,
a
vision,
zero,
a
vision,
zero
plan,
part
of
that
is
to
get
to
zero
zero
fatalities
on
the
roads.
C
Well,
we
don't
want
to
see
as
people
that
are
biking
and
walking
getting
hit
by
Kazi
and
killed.
So
our
goal
is
really
to
get
to
zero
fatalities
on
our
road
and
we've
seen
by
instituting
certain
little
things,
such
as
painting,
crosswalks
and
elevating
handicap
ramps
on
not
elevating,
but
but
doing
it
to
properly
handicap
ramps.
C
That
really
makes
a
big
difference
in
him
and
working
and
working
with
people
to
obey
the
rules
of
the
road
and,
if
you're,
riding
a
bike,
I'm
saying
the
lane,
if
you
walk
in
the
street,
no
J
walk
and
the
J
running,
because
we
want
to
make
sure
people
stay
safe.
So
we're
excited
about
that.
We
want
to
continue
to
build
a
strong
resilient
city
as
we
move
forward
now.
C
C
All
week
long
we've
been
celebrating
public
works
week
and
the
work
he's
running
in
our
city.
We
did
what's
called
the
resurfacing
demo
at
district
10
yard.
We
actually
showed
the
press
and
people
how
this
work
happened.
It's
a
many
step
process.
It
just
doesn't
you
just
don't
come
out
and
put
down
on
top
over
a
she,
you
got
to
take
up
the
old
stuff
and
you
got
to
make
sure
in
some
cases
that
underground
is
built
out
and
the
infrastructure
is
there.
So
we
talked
about
that
last
week
today.
C
C
Building
a
successful
frame
work
for
our
city
depends
on
us
doing
it
together
to
promote
positive,
healthy
behaviors,
especially
for
our
young
people.
That's
why
it's
my
honor
to
recognize
one
special
group,
that's
making
a
difference
at
their
school
and
sending
a
great
example
for
the
rest
of
the
city.
John
Daly
is
the
teacher
and
serves
as
a
director
of
a
Bryan
push
up
group
with
John's
guidance.
C
These
young
people
right
here
have
advocate
of
a
substance,
abuse
prevention
to
promote
positive
behavior
and
healthy
lifestyle
choices,
the
developing
initiatives
about
substance
prevention,
but
young
people
throughout
the
city
and
those
of
you
that
know
what's
going
on
10
years
ago.
A
lot
of
us
didn't
know
somebody
who
might
be
struggling
with
drugs
and
alcohol.
Ten
years
ago.
Many
of
us
didn't
know
some
of
you
lost
their
life
because
of
drugs
and
alcohol.
You
fast
forward.
All
of
us
are
directly
or
indirectly
connected
to
family
members
struggling
with
the
with
the
addiction.
C
These
young
people
here
have
gone
to
Washington
DC
and
that
they're
making
awareness
an
important
part
of
what
they
do
so
they're,
not
just
about
learning
in
the
classroom,
but
making
an
awareness
and
I
want
to.
Thank
you
for
that.
I
want
to
thank
you
for
doing
it,
because
it
certainly
means
a
lot
to
me
and
to
a
lot
of
families
in
this
city
and
I
want
to
just
recognize
John
for
your
leadership.
C
As
a
teacher
and
a
pivotal
advocate
for
subsidy
news
prevention
for
the
students
of
the
John
do
Bryan
and
the
push
up
program,
we
thank
you
for
your
partnership
with
the
Boston
Public
Health
Commission,
community
prevention
office
and
the
office
of
recovery
services.
The
Boston
sent
of
youth
and
families
and
the
Boston
Public
Schools
to
provide
opportunities
for
young
people
on
behalf
of
the
City
of
Boston
I
want
to
congratulate
you
John
and
push
up
for
your
commitment,
your
strength,
your
courage,
your
resiliency,
as
you
continue
to
work
as
a
beacon
of
change.
C
C
And
also
of
a
fright
turn
this
microphone
over
I
also
want
to
give
a
shout-out
to
our
ROTC
program
in
the
city
of
Boston,
who
do
an
amazing
job.
I'm,
also
proud
of
the
work
that
you
guys
in.
Ladies,
do
all
you
do
being
here
every
day,
ladies
today,
thank
you
for
and
gentlemen
for
the
work
you
do.
Oftentimes
people
take
things
for
granted
and
I,
certainly
don't
take
anything
for
granted
and
I
appreciate
the
great
work
that's
going
on
in
our
schools
all
throughout
the
city.
A
Thank
you
so
much
mayor,
congratulations!
John!
Thank
you
for
your
good
work.
I
from
the
beginning,
our
partner
on
this
project
has
been
the
Madison
Park
Development
Corporation,
it's
their
advocacy
in
our
collaboration
together,
which
is
resulted
in
the
great
work
that
has
happened
on
these
streets.
In
that
collaborations,
that's
a
great
foundation
for
the
work.
We
still
have
a
head-on
ruggles
on
Mel
Nia,
on
the
project
that
we
have
behind
us,
and
so
it's
my
great
honor
to
introduce
the
vice
president
of
programs
for
the
Madison
Park
Development
Corporation,
Leslie
Reed.
D
Thanks,
it's
really
my
deep
honor
and
privilege
to
welcome
you
all
here
today
to
celebrate
the
upcoming
improvements
in
our
neighborhood,
a
special
thank
you
to
Mayor
Walsh
chief
of
the
streets
Osgood.
What
a
cool
title
that
is
I
want
to
know
how
to
get
back.
Egg
I
also
want
to
acknowledge
Park,
Commissioner
cook,
who
couldn't
be
here
with
us
today,
and
also
to
all
the
other
community
members.
D
D
They
were
our
visionary
founders,
the
planners,
the
developers
of
the
bright,
vibrant,
Madison,
Park
that
we
know
today
and
I
think
they
would
be
appreciative
and
maybe
a
little
bit
surprised
by
the
extraordinary
investment
from
the
City
of
Austin
to
the
Department
of
Public,
Works
and
transportation
parks
and
the
Boston
Housing
Authority
they're,
leveraging
improvements
to
both
Madison
Park
and
Whittier
Street
to
ensure
and
expand
our
founders
vision
into
the
future.
An
honor.
This
legacy
I
want
to
acknowledge
the
community
residents
and
partners
that
have
helped
get
us
to
this
place.
D
Today,
first
and
foremost,
more
than
100
Roxbury
residents
have
participated
in
a
Madison
Whittier
Coalition
and
contributed
to
the
shaping
of
the
improvements.
We're
celebrating
I
want
to
thank
each
and
every
one
of
them
and
I
only
wish
that
they
could
all
be
here
with
us
today,
so
that
we
could
have
acknowledged
them
individually
for
carrying
the
legacy
that
was
founded
here
into
the
future,
also
to
preservation
of
affordable
housing
for
their
commitment
to
the
improvements
at
Whittier
Street
and
to
the
staff
of
Madison
Park
Development
Corporation.
D
Some
of
you
might
know,
Maura
Holland
in
Sofia
trance
Tamar.
Thank
you
to
Zack
last
month
of
DPW
and
Kathy
Baker
Eclipse
of
the
parks
department,
who
have
supported
meaningful
community
input
into
the
shape
of
what
we're
celebrating
here
today.
So
thank
you
again
to
everyone
here.
We
look
forward
to
continuing
to
work
with
you
all
to
celebrate
and
ensure
the
legacy
of
our
future.
Thank
you.
A
A
The

much
for
being
here
and
for
leading
us.
The
national
anthem
I
want
to
recognize
the
city
team
as
well.
On
the
construction
management
side.
We
have
our
chief
engineer,
katie
chow
and
hiding
in
the
back
john
Buzzelli,
who
oversaw
the
construction
of
this
of
this
work
and
for

team.
