From YouTube: 75 Amory Avenue Ribbon Cutting
Description
More affordable housing comes to Jamaica Plain's Jackson Square, as Mayor Walsh joins the JPNDC, Urban Edge and local residents to cut the ribbon on the new 75 Amory Avenue apartment complex. This $16 million, 39 unit transit-oriented development is part of the $250 million Jackson Square Redevelopment Master Plan.
A
A
A
A
All
that
works
come
from
each
of
you
who
said
here
today
right
so
I
want
to.
Thank
you.
I
really
want
to
thank
you,
and
this
means
a
lot
to
me
because
our
mission
is
affordable
housing.
That's
our
mission,
how
we
do
that
is
oftentimes
very
challenging,
but
we
see
the
end
product,
but
we
don't
recognize
sometimes
what
goes
into
making
this
happen.
So
I
would
like
to
say
to
the
KPMG
sea
staff
and
our
partners.
Thank
you
for
the
work
that
you've
done
and
the
work
that
I
know
you
work
intended
to
do
right.
A
A
And
that's
why,
in
my
heart
of
hearts,
think
about
how
many
apply
just
for
these
39
units,
not
enough
folks,
not
enough
we're
just
beginning
to
touch
it
compared
to
what
the
real
need
is,
and
we
know
there
is
a
need,
that's
for
improvement.
We
have
to
debate
that
we
recognize
that
there's
this
greater
need.
The
question
is
how
we're
going
to
get
there?
How
are
we
going
to
get
there?
A
That's
how
I
work
and
I'm
proud
of
that
work,
I'm
committed
to
that
work,
and
obviously
you
RQ
or
this
would
not
have
happened
so
today,
I
welcome
you
as
we
open
the
special
place
for
our
community,
and
hopefully
we
can
do
a
lot
more,
and
so
mr.
mayor
I'm,
going
to
call
upon
you
become
speak
to
the
community
right.
A
C
B
A
person
for
his
great
comments
in
his
work
I
want
to
thank
him
for
his
work
as
the
board
president
of
the
JPA
DC.
That's
not
easy
work
sometimes,
and
this
is
a
very
active
community
development
corporation.
So
I
want
to
congratulate
you.
I
also
want
to
thank
Richard
for
your
great
work
as
well.
This
has
truly
been
a
great
project.
That's
been
put
together.
B
Thank
You
Sheila
crystal
joining
Carnegie
from
the
Undersecretary
of
math
department
of
development,
she's,
a
stranger
to
this
neighborhood
I
know
you
don't
know
where,
but
you
know
so
this
morning
case
you
don't
know
she's
in
the
second
row
here
we
have
her
speaking
agreements:
the
elected
officials,
Scott
City,
Council
man,
O'malley,
representative
Sanchez.
Thank
you
very
much.
What
you
do
every
day
as
well
and
also
I,
want
to
give
a
shout
out
to
vet.
Fernandez
is
going
to
be
speaking
in
a
few
minutes.
So
don't
worry
about
it.
You'll
be
fine.
B
B
This
is
a
vacant
lot
now
brought
to
life
by
by
having
homes,
hearing
people
living
in
the
trends,
oriented
development,
and
we
do
an
awful
lot
of
talk
about
that,
making
sure
that,
as
we
think
about
building
out
the
future
of
our
city
in
our
Commonwealth,
we
really
have
to
take
take
advantage
of
the
hubs,
the
transportation
hubs-
and
this
is
one
of
those
projects.
It
also
helps
knit
the
communities
together
Roxbury
in
Jamaica
Plain,
and
we
have
the
imitating
on
fine.
So
it's
a
good
thing,
which
you
know.
B
B
D
A
B
B
Would
take
us
a
2030
to
get
53
in
this
housing?
We
are
not
anywhere
near
2030
and
we
already
had
41
thousand
units
of
housing
either
in
the
pipeline
under
construction
or
employed,
and
the
best
part
of
that
number
is
eight
thousand
of
that
is
dedicated
to
as
low
income
and
moderate
income
family.
So
we
we
are
setting
records
every
year
by
building
building
more
and
more
the
source
of
oil
drilling.
B
B
You
to
the
teamwork
that
made
this
possible
I
want
to
thank
to
make
a
plane
in
DC,
as
I
said
earlier,
the
general
contractor
in
the
eye
of
the
design
team
people
T
properties
I,
want
to
thank
everyone.
Anyone
with
anything
to
do
with
this
I
want
to
thank
the
community
for
pushing
I
want
to
thank
all
of
the
people
here.
The
residents,
most
importantly,
thank
you
for
letting
us
into
your
beautiful
home
today,
just
to
say
if
you
were
to
enjoy
the
day.
E
Thank
You
mayor
for
those
who
don't
know
me:
I'm
Richard
Thal,
the
executive
director
of
the
Jaypee,
NDC
and
I-
wanted
to
echo
what
the
mayor
said
because
about
the
city
staff,
which
has
worked
for
so
many
years
and
one
of
the
longtime
DMD
people
sent
an
email
yesterday
afternoon
to
say
she
was
sorry.
She
wasn't
going
to
be
here
and
I
responded
to
her
that
they
are
several
of
us
who
have
been
at
this
longer
than
we
might
care
to
admit.
E
E
And
it's
definitely
been
this
whole
thing
here
of
bringing
new
life,
whether
it's
on
the
corner
of
Center
wives
and
Lamartine,
whether
it's
225
Center
or
the
great
project
across
the
street
at
Jackson
Commons
and
the
rec
center.
That
urban
edge
is
working
on
in
this
project
that
you
mentioned.
Some
of
you
remember,
though,
the
old
car
wash
right
that
urban
edge
was
able
to
put
this
project
together
back
in
2006.
E
That
was
a
huge
thing,
so
it
has
really
been
a
true
partnership
and
years
and
years
worth
of
work
and
nobody,
the
next
verse
I
wanted
to
do.
Nobody
has
done
more
and
gave
she
gave
a
mere
what
15
or
16
years
of
her
life
to
urban
edge
into
this
community
and
now
she's
in
a
very
important
position
in
the
state
crystal
core
negat.
D
People
have
been
talking
a
lot
about
sort
of
how
long
these
things
take
and
they
do
take
a
long
time
and
many
of
us
have
had
different
jobs
and
everything
while
it
has
been
going
on
and
so
I
I
just
want
to
say.
Thank
you
to
Richard
and
Leslie.
Who
are
you
know?
Last
man
standing.
D
Russia
shout
out
to
my
buddy
Mike
back
there
round,
Jackson
Square
partners
and
well
as
I.
Thank
you
and
all
of
you
in
the
community
who
came
to
the
hundreds
of
thousands
of
community
meetings
that
it
took
to
get
these
to
get
this
project
done,
and
the
hundreds
of
thousands
more
that
we'll
have
in
order
to
finish
the
build
out
of
Jackson
Square
I
do
want
to
say
that
this
is
one
of
the
things
that
governor
Charlie
Baker
actually
talks
about.
Talk
to
me
about
when.
D
A
D
Front
of
you
and
with
our
partners
in
the
legislature
and
there's
no
better
partner
for
me
anyway
than
my
buddy
Sheila
Dillon,
coming
from
the
trenches
understanding
how
things
get
happened
on
both
sides
of
the
table
and
really
working
to
get
things
done.
So.
Thank
you
mayor.
Thank
you,
Sheila!
Thank
you.
Jackson
Square
and
everybody
have
a
great
Saturday.
E
One
of
the
those
who
know
and
love
crystal
the
way
a
lot
of
us
do
know
that
she's
she's
she's
got
a
lot
of
great
sense
of
humor
and
it's
a
bit
of
a
wiseacre.
Shall
we
say
one
of
the
great
things
that
crystal
says
is
that
she
is
the
head
of
a
I
guess
we
would
call
a
magnificent
set
of
five
families
that
I
don't
know
what
that
would
make.
E
I
should
talk
to
my
pythons,
but
the
ACD
in
the
leaf,
but
the
beauty
and
the
importance
of
what
goes
on
in
this
state,
which
is
which
is
very
rare
anywhere,
is
that
the
other
four
members
of
the
five
families
every
one
of
them
without
their
help.
We
would
never
have
gotten
here
and
I,
see,
especially
our
very
dear
friends
at
sea-tac
Roger
hers
like
Sarah
Barkin,
who
gave
the
money
for
us
to
start
doing
the
work
here.
E
E
C
C
We're
going
to
have
39
deeply
affordable
units
are
going
to
39
new
families,
new
neighbors
living
in
our
community
working
two
tenths
of
a
mile.
You
could
you
could
throw
a
baseball
and
hit
Jackson
Square.
This
is
real
transit,
oriented
development,
you're,
seeing
incredible
change
in
Jackson
Square
with
because
of
the
work
of
the
JP
and
EC
and
urban
edge,
n
TCB,
and
so
many
others,
and
by
God
we're
going
to
see
that
brand-new
gleaming
youth
recreational
center
across
the
street
very
very
very
soon,
as
JP
NBC
gets
ready
to
celebrate
their
40th
year.
C
I
am
so
deeply
honored
to
work
alongside
such
incredible
leaders
who
work
each
and
every
day
to
make
this
a
thriving,
wonderful,
welcome
and
accessible
neighborhood
and
City.
For
all
this
is
a
great
day.
This
is
an
absolutely
beautiful
building.
Thank
you
for
letting
me
say
a
couple
words
richer.
Congratulations
to
all
of
our
residents.
All
of
our
neighbors
welcome
to
Jamaica
Plain.
E
Sanchez
was
a
person
who
led
the
charge
and
got
5
million
dollars
more.
So
thank
you
Jeffrey
and
for
all
the
workers
on
fences
and
also
one
of
the
things
too
in
his
and
with
the
state
there's
only
a
few
states
right
crystal
Webb
rental,
subsidy
programs
and
and
our
senator
senator
Sonia
chang-diaz
was
a
leader
in
making
that
happen
too.
So
thanks
to
Sonia
and
all
our
elected
officials.
So
now
you
know
those
of
us
speak
there.
Some
people
put
many
years
into
this
others
who
are
happy
to
join
in
the
celebration.
E
F
Good
afternoon,
everyone
I'm
a
little
nervous,
but
very
excited
here,
I'd
like
to
thank
everyone
that
I've
met
this
year.
Richard
this
crystal
has
not
met
you,
but
we
got
to
get
in
contact
Sheila.
Of
course,
the
mayor,
thank
you
for
everyone.
That's
helped
make
this
a
reality,
and
this
is
my
daughter
and
Zoey
Zoey.
F
So
my
name
is
Yvette
Pat,
Mendez
and
I'm
here
today
on
behalf
of
the
residents
at
75
Avery,
as
we
welcome
you
to
our
community
five
years
ago.
Just
when
my
daughter
was
born,
I
wanted
what
any
parent
wanted
a
safe
home,
a
supportive
atmosphere
and
a
sense
of
community
I
began
to
research
and
compare
the
different
areas
of
Boston
in
Greater
Boston.
After
looking
for
months,
I
had
finally
found
it
the
perfect
home,
the
perfect
neighborhood,
perfect
schools,
the
only
problem
I
couldn't.
B
E
F
This
is
a
problem.
Many
many
many
and
live
in
Boston
face.
Yes,
the
struggle
to
find
affordable
housing
and
not
only
affordable,
a
quality,
affordable
housing
is
has
just
hindered
many
of
the
families
here
and
there
and
their
economic
growth.
The
apartment
I
could
afford
we're
dirty,
had
multiple
health
code
violations
and
we're
in
neighborhoods
that
were
rough
I
began
to
question
myself.
Am
I
setting
the
bar
too
high?
Do
I
not
deserve
the
state?
Neighborhood?
Do
I
not
deserve
to
school?
Do
I
not
deserve
the
best
for
my
daughter,
because
my
income
is.
F
F
D
A
F
A
F
Gratitude
for
the
opportunity
to
live
in
such
a
beautiful,
beautiful
development
developments
like
that.
Seventy
five
every
abs
are
vital
to
the
community
and
the
continued
gentrification
of
areas
like
Jamaica
Plain.
The
Jaypee
NBC
is
one
part
of
making
this
development
a
reality,
but
their
commitment
to
the
families
in
Jamaica,
Plain
and
helping
to
build
a
sustainable
economy
here
is
at
the
forefront
of
leading
families
to
economic
mobility.
I
would
like
to
thank
JP
NBC
for
this
building
and
the
family
resources
that
you
offer.
I
would
like
to
thank
you,
mr.
F
F
Dhcd
is
incredibly
hard-working
and
we're
one
of
the
Massachusetts
one
of
the
few
states
where
they
believe
shelter
is
a
right
for
families,
and
you
know
my
daughter
and
I
are
lucky
enough
to
reap
these
benefits
and
thank
you.
Mushiya
I
just
met
you
and
again
are
already
in
our
conversation.
I
get
excited
of
what's
in
the
future,
so
with
the
help
of
JP
NBC,
mayor
Marty,
Walsh
and
all
the
wonderful
people
that
fight
for
our
right
to
quality,
affordable
housing,
I
now
feel
stable
enough
to
move
forward
in
my
life
and
be
more
self-sufficient.
E
Thank
you
and
that
those
four
beautiful
words
so
in
a
few
minutes
we're
going
to
be
doing
a
ribbon-cutting,
but
you
know
sometimes
they
say
if
you
were
to
thank
every
person.
Who's
been
involved
in
this
people
would
not
be
able
to
enjoy
their
the
beautiful
Saturday,
but
I
do
want
to
recognize
several
of
the
people
who
have
given
so
much
and
it
worked
so
hard
to
create
this
beautiful
building,
because
these
projects
are
never
easy
and
this
one
was
especially
difficult.
E
E
You
know
this
is
an
incredibly
active
community,
which
is
usually
a
great
thing
and
for
all
of
us
too,
it
can
also
drive
people
a
little
crazy,
but
without
the
support
of
so
many
people
in
this
neighborhood,
this
would
never
have
happened,
and
the
folks
in
the
neighborhood
council
that
people
came
out
to
commune
community
meetings
back
six
seven
eight
years
ago,
focus
groups
that
I
see
one
of
the
people
was
active
in
some
of
those
earlier
meetings.
Julia
Martin,
thank
you
Julia
for
everything
you
do.
Thank
you.
E
And
this
is
a
lot
of
people
have
said
what
a
beautiful
building
and-
and
it
was
not
easy
to
design
it
on
this
side
and
all
the
different
parcels.
It
was
like
a
jigsaw
puzzle
and
it
really
has
come
out
beautifully,
and
that
is
a
lot
because
of
the
inspiration,
the
hard
work
of
somebody
we've
worked
with
for
again.
E
E
This
is
just
a
small
example:
I
wanted
to
show
you
of
the
challenges
in
doing
this
work
right,
that
there
were
studies,
From
Here
to
Eternity,
and
this
is
just
one
phase
of
an
environmental
study,
but
it's
just
one
phase
of
it
and
what
that
phase
showed
is
that
a
lot
of
the
contaminants
that
were
here
have
been
taken
care
of?
There
was
a
bunch
of
oil
tanks.
They
were
all
gone.
Maybe
there
was
a
few
things
left,
but
generally
it
was
in
good
shape
and
look.
E
We
had
the
proof,
we
had
the
Sanborn
maps
and
wasn't
it
beautiful,
except
for
or
until
we
got
into
the
ground,
and
they
found
a
page
with
about
three
thousand
gallons
and
one
that
was
about
ten
thousand
and
and
I
see
Matt
Haley,
who
was
our
construction
overseer
and
the
ten
thousand
tank
is
what
about
as
long
as
this
whole
sidewalk
here.
So
all
of
a
sudden
looks
so
beautiful
was
so
easy
and
it
was
a
disaster.
E
And
if
we
didn't
have
the
team
here
that
we
did
there's
a
lot
of
projects
where
it
would
have
ground
to
a
halt
for
six
months
or
more
and
the
folks
at
NEIU
guys
kept
with
it
and
our
staff
and
the
architects
and
that
Haley
and
we
got
this
project
done
as
a
beautiful
project
that
it
came
in
actually
under
budget.
And
that's
because
you
guys
work
so
hard.
So
thank
you.
E
And,
of
course,
you
know
now,
there's
also
the
pleasure
of
trying
to
get
239
get
meet
all
the
requirements
in
the
income
of
3,200
families
to
figure
out
who
can
live
here
and
then
to
manage
it,
and
we
have
a
property
management
firm
that
has
just
done
more
and
more
great
work
for
us
for
11
or
12
years,
Peabody
properties
and
Melissa's
here
with
our
sister
Karen,
luring
the
grass
crystal
gaozong
Sylvia.
These
folks
have
worked
and
will
continue
to
work
really
hard
when,
when
the
rest
of
us
are
are
dreaming
up
new
projects.
E
A
E
Mike
onyx
says
he's
enjoyed
every
minute
of
it
and
when
he
left
the
board
six
or
seven
years
going
to
look,
my
one
commitment
is
I'll
stay
until
we
finish
Jackson
Square
and
is
it
but
but
he's
still
here
in
Arthur
and
Germer.
So
thank
you
guys
and
lastly,
this
you
know
when
we
started
making
a
list
of
who
are
the
staff
people
worked
on
this
project.
If
there's
about
10
or
12
people
I
think
they're,
all
still
with
us,
which
is
a
I
mean
still,
you
know,
expand,
but
it
is
it.
E
E
You
with
some
of
the
details
and
the
legal
negotiations
and
where's
Joe
Lee
Berger,
because
the
legal
negotiations
were
enough
to
make
your
head
spin
ten
ways
so
Thank
You
Joseph,
but
but
the
two,
the
two
key
folks
who
work
year
in
and
year
out
that
who
really
did
more
than
anybody
else
to
make
this
happen
and
I
know
neither
one
of
them
like
this
recognition.
But
but
but
there
aren't
two
finer
people
who
do
this
work:
Wesley
boss,
thank
you
and
most
of
all,
most
of
all
Tyrande
like
glue
to
LSD
come
up.
E
We
do
the
ribbon
cutting
we've
got
some
refreshments
here
and
there's
also
going
to
be
a
barbecue.
That's
when
is
the
barbecue
starting
around
1:30
or
so
I
think
or
two
o'clock?
Okay
and
I
should
also
say
you
know
Michelle,
Diaz
and
Chris
and
chin
and
all
the
folks
on
the
staff.
Thank
you
guys,
because
this
is
a
lot
of
work
to
put
these
events
together.
So
thank
you.
So
I
want
to
invite
up,
kill
the
mayor
and
heal
and
crystal
and
where's
event
of
the
year
and
our
elected
officials.
