From YouTube: ABCD Head Start Ribbon Cutting
Description
In the South End, ABCD's Head Start program opens a new location in the former Holy Cross Cathedral Grammar School building on Harrison Avenue. The century-old building went through a year's worth of state-of-the-art renovations.
A
Good
morning
again,
my
name
is
Eric
Mitchell
I'm,
a
deputy
director
with
ABCD
and
build
operations.
But
more
importantly,
today,
I
will
be
your
MC
and
I
have
just
two
responsibilities.
The
first
one
is
to
get
you
through
the
program,
but
the
second
one,
which
is
almost
as
important
as
to
address
the
weather
issue.
So
I
dig
it
out
of
the
way
I
have
to
make
a
deal
with.
One
weather-related
comment
face
spirts
thrust:
you
cannot
look
cold
and
I'm
feeling
we
have
to
get
an
audio
system.
I
took
my
jacket
off.
A
Having
done
that,
my
job
and
my
deal
with
you
is
I
would
be
deficient.
We
will
get
with
the
program.
We
will
celebrate
a
wonderful
grand
opening
but
notice
as
I
look
out
in
the
audience
and
see
people
who
look
like
they
don't
want
to
be
there
right.
So
that's
a
given
T
Ivan
said
that
it
might
be
able
to.
You
is
to
get
the
program
start
and
so
on,
and
welcome
to
the
polity
of
the
ABCD
president
and
CEO
mr.
John
drew.
B
B
Love
a
hopes
of
joining
the
State
San
Joaquin
Walsh.
We
don't.
We
got
police
commission
some
of
these
bodies
and,
if
I
miss
them
but
I'm.
Sorry,
it
is
a
grand
opening.
It's
for
the
children,
southern
kind
of
man,
lot
of
kids
here
who
a
couple
homes
that
they
don't
a
lot.
You
know
but
I
wanted
to
briefly
say
as
I
open
the
program
as
we
are
meeting
here
then
as
how
does
not
want
Mexican.
B
There
are
books
in
computer
down
Washington
somehow
think
that
website,
as
well
as
courses
grubby
eliminated
and
I
got
Telemachus
notice.
He's
going
to
go
to
wall,
make
sure
this
doesn't
happen,
but
we
have
to
remember
why
why
not
work
with
children?
Honor
keeps
all
your
baby
in
that
we
brand
new
to
us
and
it
will
not
Bishop
and
don't
your
taxes,
but
you
can
all
the
possible
medical
other
problems.
Child
brain
has
you.
B
Henson
they'll
get
lost
for
a
lot
of
the
nutrition
pressure
needs.
The
parents
involved
completely
iPad
IRA
teacher
without
parent
improvement,
wouldn't
that
be
nice
and
a
bunch
of
public
school,
but
basically
shove
them
plus
it
is
a
queue
of
a
program
across
the
country
million
children
are
in
such
a
savage
family
members
affiliate
for
with
20,000
and
number
25,000
people
who
dedicate
themselves
every
day
across
the
country
to
provide
pizza,
metal
of
an
employer
thousand
volunteers.
So
it's
a
jewel
in
the
crown
of
our
national
consciousness.
B
B
The
first
work
program
can
exactly
because
it
will
work
with
exactly
because
children
intermetallic
so
can
we
do
you're
in
a
bad
session
as
soon
as
they
come
in
and
hopefully,
when
they
I'm
sure
they're
going
to
cry
according
to
the
published
system,
we're
still
consult
attitude
since
I
can
grade
one.
Two
three
more
nourishing
this
is
generation
hobbies.
B
So
thank
you
so
much
and
welcome
to
our
brand
open
house
last
night.
As
you
know,
in
this
time
the
comments
warm-
and
let
me
just
say
this
out
loud
Ragusa
canvas
a
bond
function.
We
were
kind
of
a
noisy
neighbor
for
quite
a
while.
We
got
up
everything
on
here,
I
think
it's
beautiful
and
took
a
while,
but
we
got
there
so
I
threw
you
in
the
church
that
we
parted
around
seeing
Roxbury
frightened
all
over
the
city.
Such
a
wonderful
partnership,
say
mission
for
the
good
things.
A
I'm
just
checking
no
one
else
is
moving
out.
Cindy
coats,
modern
director.
So
as
a
parent
of
a
17
month
old
I
have
a
great
respect
for
the
work
that
teachers
do
in
a
classroom.
It
is
really
a
gift
to
have
quality
education
that
you
can
hand
your
child
over
to,
and
so
I'm
very
pleased
to
be
able
to
be
here
today
and
doubly
so
because
I
went
to
Catholic
school
in
New
Jersey
and
it
was
happened
to
be
called
Cathedral.
D
Well,
good
morning,
everyone
and
welcome
this
is
a
very
happy
day
for
all
of
us.
About
150
years
ago,
we
used
to
have
a
school
in
the
basement
of
the
Cathedral
and
then
a
little
over
a
hundred
years
ago,
the
parishioners
built
this
fine
building
that
ABCD
has
refurbished
in
a
stellar
way,
and
now
it
continues
its
original
mission
to
help
children.
D
We
want
to
congratulate
John
and
your
wonderful
team
for
all
that
you've
done
we're
so
pleased
and
proud
of
the
work
that
you're
just
here
asking
for
God's
blessing
on
all
of
the
wonderful
people
that
are
working
here
and
taking
care
of
his
children.
This
is
a
real
beacon
of
hope.
Our
neighborhood
congratulations.
A
If
you
haven't
been
include
a
head
start
event,
we
cherish
the
opportunity
to
say
thank
you,
and
so
you
will
notice
a
common
things
when
we
have
a
chance
to
say
thank
you,
we
will
pause
and
we
will
show
that
it
really
does
mean
more
than
just
come
and
shake
hands,
and
so
I
want
to
move
the
program
forward
as
I
promised
and
bring
forward
to
speak
with
us,
hard-working
and
obviously
very
busy.
Senator
Marty.
E
F
Thank
you
so
much,
and
thank
you
thank
everybody
for
being
here
today.
Abcd
is
the
comedy
agency
not
just
for
Boston,
but
for
my
hometown
balls
where
I
live.
You
know
facility
that
just
all
blocks
from
my
house
in
Malden
and
the
work.
What
you
do
is
absolutely
in
Christ
children
and
25%
of
our
population,
but
they
are
100%
of
our
future
and.
F
To
ensure
that
your
gives
a
democratization
of
access
to
opportunity
to
education
and
to
hopefully
that's
what
ABC
does
that's
what
all
of
these
programs
are
all
about,
and
we
thank
you
Cogdill
or
being
here
in
a
lot
of
ways.
A
BCP
really
gives
me
embodiment
of
the
Sermon
on
the
Mount.
What's
about
for?
Let's
not
sit.
What's
about
the
warm
in
each
instance,
there
is
a
federal
program
called
Medicare.
F
To
be
here
today,
Massachusetts
were
so
proud
of
the
commitment
that
we
make
to
education.
We're
number
one
in
the
country
in
math
and
verbal
science
at
the
fourth
and
eighth
and
tenth
grades.
Button
in
Boston
head
starts
a
big
part
of
that
funnel
heads
up
make
sure
that
a
lot
of
kids
that
otherwise
would
not
have
access
to
these
programs
are
given
access
to
the
program
and
hundred
thousand
people
are
served
by
ABCD
here
in
Boston
and
that's
out
of
a
population
of
about
six
hundred
and
thirty
thousand
so
mayor,
Walsh
and
I.
F
You
know
we.
We
talked
a
few
months
ago
about
the
budget
that
Donald
Trump
had
proposed
and
18%
cut
Health
and
Human
Services
budget,
a
14
percent
cut
in
the
education
budget,
a
13
percent
cut
in
the
Housing
and
Urban
Development
budget,
the
elimination
of
a
community
of
the
community
services,
Block
Grant
Program,
the
elimination
of
the
Community
Development
Block,
Grant
Program,
and
the
elimination
of
home
heating
assistance.
That
was
the
budget
that
was
introduced
by
the
conversation
just
two
months
ago.
F
F
F
What
we're
all
about
and
with
Community
Development
Block
Grants
are
great
mayor
is
able
to
do
those
projects,
those
special
projects
that
the
community
means
in
order
to
help
those
who
are
most
in
need
and
I
might
add,
because
so
many
of
the
people
who
families
that
receive
this
funding
or
their
children
of
immigrants.
There
was
not
one
nickel
in
the
budget
to
build
a
wall.
F
And
so
all
of
that
goes
right
to
the
heart.
What
Cathedral
School
was
all
about
was
a
place
with
immigrant
families.
It
comes
through
high
quality
education,
and
the
same
thing
is
true
here
today,
so
so
we
thank
you
ABCD
and
we
we
thank
the
condo
for
being
here,
but
we
think
the
ligneous
thinks
all
of
the
people
who
work
here
every
single
day
making
this
program
such
a
success.
We
thank
you
Commissioner
for
what
you
do
on
a
daily
basis
and
you
Byron
it
makes
up
it's
right
on
in
video.
F
Today
is
a
day
work.
It
makes
it
worthwhile
to
be
found
in
Washington
and
fight
fighting,
but
these
programs
that
you
can
see
how
it
will
impact
those
children
who
are
going
to
be
the
future
of
our
country,
but
we
have
to
give
them
the
tools
they
need
to
maximize
their
document
abilities.
That's
what
we're
here
today
to
celebrate.
F
A
Don't
know
about
many
of
you
but
I
saved
up
kind
of
late,
watching
the
news
trying
to
find
out
what
was
wrong
with
the
budgeting.
So
it
was
nice
to
get
the
email.
That
said,
something
had
been
resolved
in
to
show
up
in
the
morning
and
a
congressman
is
cieariy.
Would
it
give
us
good
news
firsthand
I
give
it
up
a
little
bit
louder
than
them,
I.
A
G
I
want
to
thank
you,
I
want
they
kind
of
Shawn
said
that.
Thank
you.
I
met
with
the
senator
down.
He
talked
about
the
budget.
We
actually
had
a
conversation
about
monkey
those
month
and
a
half
ago
I
was
down
in
his
office.
I
was
down
in
DC
and
I,
asked
if
I
guess
one
mind
I
want
to
list
some
things
I'm
concerned
about
in
the
city
of
Austin,
and
he
sat
there
and
wrote
a
couple
notes
down.
G
But
I
can
tell
you
one
thing:
I'm
going
to
make
sure
I
continue
to
fight
which
I
know
we
would
and
I
want
to
thank
them
for
fighting,
because
he's
been
all
over
the
TV
and
all
over
the
news,
both
here
locally
in
CNN
fighting
for
the
programs
that
he
talked
about
today,
fighting
for
our
kids,
ready
for
environment
fighting
for
our
country,
so
senator.
Thank
you
very
much.
G
G
As
a
legislator,
I
had
a
great
honor
of
serving
environment
in
the
House
of
Representatives
and
ABCD
was
one
of
the
programs
that
Byron
would
always
go
to
the
go
to
the
mat
for
to
make
sure
the
funding
lis
there
and
you
know,
certainly
in
his
issued
without
them,
but
he
represented
indirectly
the
whole
Commonwealth
of
Massachusetts
of
Iowa.
Thank
you
as
well
for
all
things.
You've
done.
G
I'll
block
it
up
attendance
on
a
little
cold.
This
one
is
spot
on
I
just
want
to
congratulate
all
of
you.
I
want
to
congratulate
Head
Start
program
here
is
going
to
have
nearly
200
families
and
children
and
families.
Here
it's
going
to
have
families
from
South
in
Chinatown
all
over
the
city
of
Boston.
It's
an
incredible
resource
in
our
city.
I
want
to
thank
ABCD.
If
you
look
at
the
space
that
ABCD
works
in
they
work
in
a
lot
of
important
spaces,
they
learn
work
in
education.
G
They
work
in
education
of
all
facets
from
high
school.
All
the
way
back
to
early
education,
I
want
to
thank
them
for
their
great
work.
This
is
an
exciting
day.
I
want
to
thank
the
con
on
the
Catholic
Church
as
well,
because
it
is
fitting
it's
fitting
here
that
that
hundred
fifty
years
ago,
education
sided
in
the
basement
over
here
in
the
cathedral
and
150
years
later
it
continues
over
here
in
the
school.
So
god
bless
you
all!
Congratulations
to
ABCD.
A
Thank
You
mr.
mayor,
my
attempt
at
mind:
control
on
the
weather
unsuccessful,
but
moving
right
along
I
want
to
know.
Obviously,
everyone
is
here
folks
are
really
enduring
it,
but
we
sort
of
appreciate
it
from
the
faces
that
I
see
folks
are
mostly
doing
a
good
job,
so
I
I
will
continue
to
be
the
fishing,
but
I
want
to
bring
to
the
podium
al.
A
woman
that
made
you
offered
me
know
very
well.
I
know
hardly
cuz.
We
started
on
the
same
day.
A
H
Good
morning,
yes,
we
were
seeing
the
faithful,
but
no
one,
because
we
were
waiting
for
the
parents
to
interview
us
and
decide
if
we
could
be
employee
of
ABCD
and
Sutton
Children's
Villages,
but
the
power
of
the
town
for
all
the
cars
are
here.
Welcome
and
thank
you
for
shooting
off
to
take
care
of
your
children.
I
want
to
work.
Welcome
all
of
you
to
be
here.
Cardinal
I
am
yang
net.
You
may
use,
therefore,
relationship
on
all
the
time
for
members
that
are
here
will
oscillate.
H
Today
is
a
very
special
day
because
tell
stories
about
high
quality
services
and
usually
people
to
high
quality
services.
I
want
to
tell
you
a
little
bit
about
what
is
high
quality,
high-quality
services.
They
354
minutes
a
day,
and
we
prepare
here
for
those
children,
multiple
children.
This
is
the
only
meal
complete
balance
that
they
will
get
on
the
game
only
with
under
five
years.
So
here
in
this
program,
we
first
159
preschoolers
pick
to
infinim
powder.
Today
my
heart
was
very
posh
and
economi
leol.
H
H
But
in
this
program
we
have
platinum,
so
we
foster
we
children,
think
they
are
in
the
building
of
the
money
and
we
help
them
all
to
be
healthy
and
be
ready
for
the
child.
Instrumental
and
miss
Corder
ABCD
has
been
the
best
home
for
this
beautiful
program.
So
I
want
to
thank
all
of
you
and
this
facility
is
a
representation
of
high
quality
service.
We
could
do
great
services,
but
if
the
facility
is
not
also
high
quality,
there's
nothing
to
do
so.
H
H
On
all
the
time
that
works
every
single
day,
so
what
we
children
you
have
to
have
passion.
You
have
to
lack
commitment
and
all
these
that
do
that
everything
will
make
of
the
children.
I
want
to
recognize
and
people
who
license
all
I
just
see
them
to
the
back
Haley
our
life
and
work
Cheryl
our
life
in
Berlin
Linda.
But
thank
you
because
people.
H
E
E
Thank
you
very
much.
It
is
so
good
to
be
here
and
don't
worry
about
the
weather.
We
know
all
of
the
Sun
shines
inside
all
those
young
people.
I
just
want
to
say
a
word
about
how
important
your
work
is,
and
thank
you
for
doing
this
work,
but
I
also
want
to
say
a
word
about
geography
about
this
neighborhood.
E
When
I
talk
to
the
little
class
and
rich
constituents
that
I
have
in
this
neighborhood,
they
always
say
we
like
the
south
end
because
of
its
diversity.
Have
you
heard
that
mr.
Merriman,
don't
like
your
business?
Well
I
want
that
diversity
to
be
real,
not
made-up
not
seeing
on
television,
and
it
is
real
in
the
south
end,
and
it
is
real
because
you
are
here-
and
you
all
know
that
this
is
the
homeless
and
Chinatown
is
the
home
of
these
children
and
they
should
have
all
the
opportunities
that
all
of
their
neighbors
have
so
good.
E
A
I
The
one
having
one
I
will
pair
representative
Harrison
ass
I'm,
so
grateful
like
I,
said
of
all
to
South,
Bay
and
I've,
embedded
myself
to
something
I
completed.
The
project
place
program
actually
works
well,
the
corner
so
I'm
all
about
the
community.
The
staff
is
awesome.
They
support
me
through
all
my
madness.
A
Now,
before
we
bring
up
our
last
speaker,
I
just
wanted
to
little
bit
of
housekeeping
and
say
that
we're
going
to
do
our
ribbon.
Cutting
right
here,
make
it
easy
on
folks
and
there
will
be
an
opportunity
for
tours
and
we
didn't
follow
them.
So,
if
you're
interested
in
before
standby,
but
we're
going
to
have
our
ribbon
cutting
at
the
most
lenient
door
that
we
could
possibly
find.
A
I
C
When
it's
closed
out
so
I
will
be
brief.
I
think
a
lot
of
thank-yous
and
recognitions
has
been
said
this
morning,
but
they
can't
be
said
enough
and
the
leadership
that
we
have
in
Boston
and
Massachusetts,
whether
it's
our
faith
leadership,
whether
it's
a
city,
leadership
and
a
man
senator
and
byron,
rushing
we
are
so
lucky.
There
are
so
many
states
and
we
deal
with
organizations
and
folks,
all
across
the
country.
There
are
so
many
states
in
which
there's
not
the
same
leadership.
C
People
are
suffering
even
more,
and
so
we
take
for
granted
sometimes
who
we
have
in
front
of
us
of
our
leadership
and
the
community
that
we
bring
our
children
up
and
so
again
thank
you
for
all
that
you
do
for
us,
and
parents
and
staff.
Thank
you
as
well
for
all
that
you
do
every
day
on
behalf
of
young
children.
C
C
My
core
start
to
ABCD
and
on
the
mother
of
three
young
children
and
I
know
how
hard
it
is
to
raise
children
and
under
any
circumstances,
but
the
circumstances
under
which
many
of
the
families
and
children
that
we
serve
are
unbelievable
and
they
do
such
a
tremendous
getting
up
every
day,
bringing
their
children
here,
working
with
our
staff
to
make
their
lives
and
their
futures
hopeful.
So
I
also
like
to
thank
event
mentioned
it.
C
We
thank
this
state
department
of
early
education
and
care
who
helped
put
this
lightly
thing
together
and
run
the
programs,
but
also
at
ABCD.
We
do
a
lot
of
collaboration
internally
and
I'd
like
to
thank
John,
Wells
and
Peter's
below
who
else
properties
a
little
bit
every
single
day.
Forget
this
up
and
running
so
I
want
to
thank
that
I
would
close
by
saying
that
today,
I
am
thankful
again
that
the
budget
moves
on
that.
We
have
another
day
and
we
have
a
few
more
head
start
to
open
in
the
future.
