See Mayor Walsh cut the ribbon for the Grand Opening of Paris Village; a $14 million, four-story residential community for working families in East Boston. Paris Village was made possible through contributions from the City of Boston and utilizes high efficiency heating and cooling systems along with environmentally friendly design.

be

to
come

and
to
welcome
into
East
Boston
new,
affordable
family
housing.
Most
of
you
who
live
in
East
Boston,
most
of
you
who
know
East
Boston,
knows
the
tremendous
need
for
family
housing
in
this
neighborhood
and
in
this
area,
and
we
have
been
very
fortunate
to
be
able
to
build
this
new
these
units
and
to
house
people
in
serious
need
of
housing.

Who
said
that
he
cared
about
the
homeless
and
those
living
in
our
shelters,
and
he
delivered
on
that
care
right
now.
I
think
one
of
the
greatest
privileges
I
have
is
to
introduce
to
you
the
main
person
for
while
we're
able
to
stand
here
and
celebrate
the
building
of
this
building,
and
this
great
addition
to
response
the
mayor.

want

thank
Liddy
Edwards,
the
city
councilor
here,
who,
who
is
well
supported
this
project
and
supports
a
ton
of
projects,

also
not
only
that
also
filed
legislation
at
the
State
House
to
push
the
envelope
to
really
focus
statewide

do
we
increase
affordability
around
the
Commonwealth
of
Massachusetts?
How
do
we
get
other
cities
and
towns
to
stop
building
affordable
housing?

not
realize
this,
but
Sheila
takes
it
to
heart.
When
there's
articles
about
the
city
not
doing
enough,
she
takes
it
behind
when
there's
issues
about
homelessness.
Sheila
takes
at
the
heart
and
her
team
is
amazing
and
she's
amazing

I
just
want
to
thank
Sheila
for
all
her
great
work
as
well
in
the
city
of
Boston,
which
she's
a
leader
in
housing
in
the
Commonwealth
in
the
country
she's
one
of
the
best.

the
city
of

who
took
over
the
job
less
than
a
year
ago,
and
it's
already
working
on
a
plan
to
look
at

sustainability

East
Boston

making
sure
that,
as
the
sea
level
rises,
that
the
parks
that
had
being
built
in
at
piers,
Park
one
and
two
and
three
and
all
the
different
things
were
doing
that
that
East
Boston's
protected
from
sea
level,
rising
and
proprietor
that
he
was
the
park.

The
architects
and
the
builders
the
building
is
beautiful,
its
energy
efficient.

of
government
coming
together,
the

Girls
Clubs.

was
a
place

nurtured

cared
for
people,

kids.

was
a
place
where
young
kids
came
and
enjoyed

safe.

transformed
into

new,
beautiful
homes
for
working
families.
It's
safe!
It's
an
area!
That's
it's
sacred
ground!
If
you
will
it's
sacred
ground
that
constantly
goes
back
to
the
community
and
to
the
residents.
Some

the
resins
that
are
here
they're
in
the
movie
and
congratulations
and
the
ones
that
have
yet
been
chosen.
Good

It's
a
special
place
to
have
this
lands
continue
to
serve
the
community
in
different
ways.
This
housing
that
would
break
cutting
ribbon
on
today,
because
needed
in
East
Boston.
Our
housing
demand
is
increased
all
across
our
city.

We
find
by
the
year
2030
that
our
population
in
Boston
will
be
700,000
people.
We
were
planning
for
that.
That's
what
we
will
go,
shooting
the
goal
for
we're.
Looking
at
seven
hundred
and
sixty
thousand
people
potentially
one
to
be
living
in
the
city
of
Boston.
What
we
have
to
do
is
continue
to
increase
the
supply
on
the
market
so
to
make
sure
that
we
meet
the
demands.

Every
wants
to
build
this
housing
now,
but
more
affordable
housing,
more
below
income,
housing,
more
market
rate
housing
and
when
I
say
market
rate
housing,
I'm
talking
about
families
who
are
in
between
fifty
and
a
hundred
thousand
dollars
a
year
that
can
live
and
stay
in
the
neighborhood.
That's
what
we
have
to
do
we're
using
all
of
our
resources
in
our
toolbox
and
we're.
Looking
for
more,
as
I
mentioned
earlier,
the
council
file
legislation
I
filed
legislation.

We
all
filed
legislation
to
really
get
more
opportunity,
more
tools
to
be
able
to
tackle
the
issues
of
the
increased
demand
in
housing.
Keeping
affordability
of
housing
is
at
the
heart
of
all
the
work
that
we
do
in
the
city
of
Boston,
whether
that's
creating
more
housing,
whether
that's
job
training
opportunities,
whether
that
whatever
it
is,
we're
doing
it's
about.
At
the
end
of
the
day,
the
question
is
going
to
be
well,
I
make
a
little
more
money.

Now,
how
can
I
live
in
the
city
of
Boston,
because
I
can't
afford
my
rent
or
I
can't
afford
to
buy
a
home
or
I
can't
afford
a
mortgage
and
that
everything
that
we
do
all
the
policies
that
we're
driving
out
of
so
about
whether
it's
around
transportation,
whether
it's
around
the
environment,
whether
it's
around
parks
and
recreation?
It's
always
about
making
sure
how
do
people
live
and
be
able
to
stay
in
the
city,
live
in
the
city
and
enjoy
the
city?
That's
what
we
have
to
continue
to
do.

Generations
of
families
here
have
built
this
neighborhood
of
East
Boston
when
I
ran
for
mayor
in
2007
six,
fifty
fourteen,
whatever
your
was
13.
What
I
heard
was
on
the
campaign
trail
I
heard
an
awful
lot
about
nobody's.
Building
these
Boston.
We
want
to
build
these
Boston
where's,
the
where's
these
Boston.
Well,
after
that,
2014
and
15
people
found
this
special
neighborhood.
The
problem
is
they
found
it.
They
started
to
make
investments
in
this
neighborhood
that
were
detrimental
to
the
community.
They
were
buying
homes
and
ripping
homes
down.

This
is
a
unique
community
with
a
rich
character
and
a
deep
history
when
we
did
the
social
center
100th
anniversary
last
year,
a
lot
of
people
came
back
to
that.
They
used
to
live
in
this
name
when
they
talked
about
great
stories
of
growing
in
up
means
Boston,
some
of
them
left
because
their
parents
moved
out
something
left
for
whatever
reasons
they
like
a
lot
of
them
want
to
come
back
in.
We
want
to
make
sure
in
the
city,
government
and
I'll
mention
this
about
promises
from
politicians.

We
are
going
to
continue
the
promise
that
the
young
generation
is
growing
up
in
East.
Boston
now
doesn't
have
to
leave
because
they
can't
afford
to
live
here.
We're
gonna
make
sure
we
work
with
them
to
make
sure
they
can
grow
up
in
their
neighborhood
in
this
special
place
in
East
Boston
to
make
sure
they
can
say.
This
is
our
home,
and
if
they
decide
to
move
out,
they
choose
to
move
up,
they're,
not
forced
to
move
out
and
that's
a
big
difference.
When
we're
talking
about
moving
forward.

I
want
to

I
just
want
to
congratulate

Cross
and
CDC
I
want

thank

met

many
years

his
job,
he
told

job

day
is
to
fight

in
the
vine
schools

of
Fame
as
when

they
our
best
graduates?

when
you
look
at
this
building,
it's
also
the
building
on
the
Greenway
Greenway
apartment
said
life
designed
he
did
the
bond
school,
which
is
won
many
awards
for
its
renovation
as
well.
It's
it's
historic
preservation,
he's
done
to
Dalrymple
Preston
they're,
not
in
in
Winthrop
he's
done.
The
Medical
Angelo
in
the
north
end
he's
done
so
many
buildings
in
East
Boston
that
his
coming
the
heritage
and
commitment
to
lease
pasta
will
long
be
remembered.

projects

about
Paris,
Village,

family
housing.

meet

need
for
seniors
in
the
area,
so
we're
working
on
Grace
apartments
right
now,
which
is
in
Maverik
square,
as
well
as
the
Knights
of
Columbus
apartments,
which
is
in
the
north
end,
so
two
more
projects
that
will
help
to
expand
housing
for
Boston
people.

I'm
only
going
to
talk
briefly,
but
this
project
was
difficult
project.
Many
projects
are
this:
had
some
unique
challenges
and
we
deal.
We
do
really
appreciate
the
efforts
that
michael
with
michael
inter
Bartolo
was
was
thanked.

We
also
appreciate
the
contractor
Delphi
construction
for
trying
to
move
this
project
along
as
quickly
as
possible
and,
as
always,
the
city
of
Boston,
Sheila
and
Jessica

the
mayor

well

governor
in
the
Commonwealth,
the
Department
of
Housing
and
Community
Development
they've
always
been
staunch
allies

ours,

we
appreciate

on
this
project
to
the
CDC
joined
forces
with
Citizens
Bank

financial

their
construction,
lender
and
equity
provider,
and
then
they
have
a
new
partnership
with
that
Massachusetts
Housing,
Partnership

as
the
permanent
lender
and
all
of
them
worked
collectively
to
help
us
minimize
the
exposure
due

some

the
risks
that
we
had
on
the
project.

we're
really
thankful
