From YouTube: Omni Hotel Ribbon Cutting - 09/08/2021
Description
The Seaport District gains a brand new luxury spot: The Omni Hotel! Mayor Janey is joined by Governer Charlie Baker, Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, Councilor Edward Flynn, Councilor Michael Flaherty, Representative David Biele, Omni Hotel President Peter Strebel, and other distinguished business leaders offering remarks on their excitement for this new minority-owned space, along with a ribbon cutting to officially mark it as part of the Seaport community.
A
Good
morning,
everyone,
my
name,
is
michael
jorgensen,
I'm
the
managing
director
of
this
hotel,
the
omni
boston
hotel
at
the
seaport,
and
it's
my
absolute
pleasure
to
welcome
you
here
today
to
join
us
in
celebrating
the
opening
of
boston's
newest
hotel
in
the
crown
jewel
of
the
south
boston
seaport
area.
I'll
share
just
a
quick
story.
I
was
working
at
another
hotel
when
we
had
the
groundbreaking
here
for
this
hotel-
and
I
remember
thinking
I
gotta
get
out
of
here
before
this
thing
opens
up,
because
it's
gonna
beat
everybody
in
the
market.
A
I
had
little
idea
that
I
was
going
to
be
working
here
a
couple
years
later,
an
extraordinary
team
of
talented,
creative
and
dedicated
individuals
made
this
moment
a
reality
and
come
tomorrow,
we'll
happily
open
our
doors
for
local
bostonians
guests,
and
we
will
make
omni
boston
at
the
seaport,
their
home
away
from
home.
A
So
now,
let's
move
on
with
today's
presentation.
Let
me
introduce
our
first
of
our
most
esteemed
speakers.
Today,
senator
nick
collins,
senator
collins
has
been
involved
in
core
issues
that
impact
us
all
and
has
spent
the
last
several
years,
pushing
for
transit
equity
on
the
fairmont
line,
filing
legislation
for
a
rapid
transit
pilot
program
and
pushing
for
electrification
of
the
line
at
the
nexus
of
environmental
justice,
economic
opportunity
and
equity.
This
issue
is
at
the
core
of
senators
legislative
agenda.
A
Our
physical
location
gives
us
the
opportunity
to
hire
a
great
number
of
south
bostonians
and
provide
secure
career
for
the
careers
for
those
working
in
the
hospitality
and
dining
industries.
During
his
11
years
as
a
public
servant,
senator
collins
has
earned
a
reputation
as
a
supporter
of
educational
programs,
businesses
and
job
creation.
A
B
Thank
you,
michael.
It's
great
to
be
with
you
all
this
morning.
Michael
has
great
history
here,
not
just
in
the
hospitality,
but
particularly
in
south
boston,
having
managed
to
cross
the
street
at
the
westin
and
on
d
street
a
loft
and
element
hotels.
As
part
of
that,
it's
been
a
great
experience
here
in
south
boston,
where
a
lot
of
people
have
gone
to
really
receive
economic
benefits
that
we
try
to
make
the
case
for
and
if
we
don't,
we
don't
get
a
chance
to
do
this
with
as
much
support
next
time.
B
But
you
know
this,
wouldn't
I
don't
think
we'd
have
as
much
enthusiasm
about
this
today.
If
the
the
impact
of
what
we're
celebrating
wasn't
so
broad.
You
know
I
mentioned
when
they
broke
ground
here
a
few
years
ago,
the
meaning
of
omni
of
all
things,
the
latin
I
should
say-
and-
and
that's
really
what
we
saw
here
a
few
years
ago-
there's
a
bunch
of
people
that
aren't
going
to
be
speaking
there.
B
That
I'd
like
to
thank
for
their
efforts
and
vision,
and
this
gentleman
will
be
speaking,
but
this
would
not
exist
without
the
convention
center
in
the
convention
center
would
not
exist
without
those
who
led
to
to
build
it,
and
so
congress
and
steve
lynch
will
be
hearing
from
later
the
original
author
of
legislation
to
create
the
convention
center
and
really
bring
those
economic
benefits
here
to
the
south
boston
waterfront.
So
I
just
want
to
thank
congressman
lynch
for
his
leadership
in
supporting
our
hospitality
industry
and
with
that
legislation.
B
The
former
ceo
of
massport,
coming
together
with
jim
rooney,
linda
darcina,
fourie
my
predecessor,
to
to
really
develop
this
model
with
massport
board.
B
I
see
dwayne
jackson's
here
and
and
so
that
leadership
we're
celebrating
today
too,
because
that
that
brought
together
the
team
with
the
davis
companies
and
their
their
partners
in
new
hospitality
boston
to
do
something
really
special
here
and
that
trickled
down
to
intentionally
the
the
construction
where
john
moriarty
and
greg
janey
have
a
partnership,
and
we'll
hear
a
little
bit
about
that
today
and
just
wanted
to
thank
them
for
their
leadership.
B
There,
paul
barrett,
japan,
mcdermott
and
our
boston,
boston,
building
trades,
who
last
year
in
some
very
uncertain
times,
moved
forward
trudged
through
with
the
help
of
governor
baker,
to
to
ensure
that
this
project
could
actually
happen
close
to
one
time
and
so
we're
recognizing
some
people
through
throughout
the
day.
But
I
just
wanted
to
thank
them
up
front
for
their
their
leadership
in
making
this
happen
and
and
turn
them
over,
wanted
to
introduce
our
governor,
who
did
an
incredible
job
this
last
year.
Can
we
have
fraud
governor
his
management
through
covert.
B
Our
economy
is
on
the
rebound
and-
and
we
have
a
lot
of
people
to
thank
including
our
small
business
owners
who
hung
in
there
but
governor
baker,
who,
when,
when
he
decided
to
put
pause
on
the
expansion,
you
know
came
into
an
administration.
I
want
to
recognize
david
gibbons
who's
here,
leading
the
mcca
about
how
we
were
to
do
that,
and
you
know
we
didn't
want
to
make
victim
the
proposal
in
this
hotel,
because
the
scale
was
needed.
B
It
was
already
there
and
when
we
in
terms
of
the
market
for
it,
and
but
it
took
some
some
convincing,
you
know,
massport
was
hesitant
and
with
the
advocacy
of
the
governor,
we
were
able
to
make
sure
that
this
hotel
is
the
size.
It
is
and
can
create
the
kind
of
jobs
and
benefits
that
that
we
need
to
make
the
case.
C
So,
first
of
all,
thank
you,
senator
and-
and
let
me
just
say
there
are
a
lot
of
very
distinguished
people
up
here,
and
there
are
many
more
in
this
audience
and
I'm
not
surprised
because
this
project
from
the
beginning
was
asked
to
do
a
lot
of
things.
C
C
C
C
B
Thank
you,
governor
baker.
Before
we
welcome
up
the
next
guest,
I
do
want
to
give
mentioned
to
a
good
friend
and
someone
who
was
a
strong
advocate
here
at
the
local
level.
In
particular,
no
one's
had
more
experience
in
boston
around
development
than
the
council
mike
flaherty,
so
council
was
invaluable
as
it
came
to
how
this
plan
came
to
fruition.
You
know
this
development
being
so
significant
required
a
lot
of
time.
B
And
someone
we
partnered
with
along
the
way
now
in
the
waterfront
here
in
a
different
setting,
but
ken
turner,
who
implemented
this
planning
effort
on
behalf
of
massport
as
head
of
diversity
inclusion.
I
see
he's
here
with
us
this
morning.
Also
the
head
of
the
massachusetts
life
sciences
center
so
really
focused
in
that
area,
where
massport
partnered
with
so
ken.
Thank
you
for
being
with
us
this
morning.
B
Risk
takers
are
what
makes
this
happen
too.
So
jonathan
davis
and
his
team,
you
know,
made
a
good
bet
here
and
they
made
a
good
bet
on
south
boston,
but
it's
not
without
risk.
B
Clearly
we're
seeing
that
now
we're
seeing
you
know
that
being
tested
with
respect
to
how
we're
going
to
rebound-
and
I
know-
and
I
feel
like
we're
going
to
rebound
strong
here
in
boston
as
a
tourism
hub
and
hospitality
hub,
but
jonathan
davis
and
the
davis
companies
leaned
in
in
this
project
over
the
last
few
years,
during
the
construction
and
prior
to
their
commitments
to
the
community
beyond
the
borders
here
of
just
south
boston,
really
shifted
the
model
of
how
massport
is
encouraging
their
incentivizing,
their
development
teams
to
make
a
larger
impact.
E
E
Both
you,
gentlemen,
have
been
incredibly
stalwart
supporters
of
this
project,
since
we
envisioned
that
you
shared
our
vision
and
we
we
genuinely
appreciate
your
support,
as
we
do
all
the
other
elected
officials
who
are
here
today
and
have
worked
in
partnership
with
us
so
productively
over
the
last
four
or
five
years.
E
In
four
decades,
we
had
the
opportunity
to
completely
reimagine
what
a
hotel
like
this
could
be.
Thanks
to
our
incredible
team
of
partners,
designers
and
contractors,
I'm
proud
to
be
able
to
say,
mission
accomplished
at
this
unique
time
in
our
country's
history.
We've
also
changed
the
way
that
boston
looks
at
diversity.
By
virtue
of
this
project,
our
hotel
is
the
first
project
developed
under
the
massport
model,
which
sets
a
new
standard
for
integrating
diversity
and
inclusion
into
every
facet
of
the
development
and
operation
of
public
private
development
projects.
E
We
are
proud
to
announce
that
we
exceeded
the
goals
that
were
set
by
mouseport
in
both
design
and
construction,
we're
proud
of
what
we
accomplished
on
this
project
itself.
But
what
we're
proudest
of
is
that
by
responding
to
the
challenge
that
massport
laid
down
and
showing
that
it
could
be
done,
we've
been
part
of
setting
a
new
standard
that
is
already
being
more
broadly
adopted.
E
It's
our
sincere
hope
that
by
raising
the
bar
as
we
have
with
this
project,
will
not
only
see
projects
like
it,
adopt
the
massport
model
nationally,
but
that
this
new
wellspring
of
opportunity
for
minority
developers,
contractors,
designers
and
investors
will
inspire
talented
and
ambitious
people
of
color
to
create
new
businesses.
That
will
play
a
key
role
in
changing
the
face
of
our
industry.
E
E
E
For
because
of
this
a
project
and
many
others,
david
worked
together
both
with
his
own
team
and
with
his
able
joint
venture
partners
at
moody,
nolan
and
stalin
lee
and
with
the
incredible
interior
designers
at
waldorf
and
nicholls
and
all
the
manifold
consultants,
engineers
and
other
designers
who
supported
them
in
envisioning
this
project
and
helping
us
to
bring
it
to
life
thanks
to
john
moriarty
and
to
greg
janey
and
their
teams
for
building
this
very
magnificent,
but
also,
as
as
governor
baker,
said,
very
complicated.
Building
and
a
special
thanks
to
john
john.
E
Are
you
here
yeah
good
morning?
I
I
want
to
thank
john
in
particular
for
approaching
his
joint
venture
with
greg,
as
he
said
at
the
outset
of
this
project
as
a
way
to
create
competition
for
his
own
company
from
companies
likes
greg's,
going
forward.
E
No
one
in
this
country
is
more
experienced
in
building
and
operating
high
quality
convention
center
hotels
than
only
on
me,
but
omni's
vision
of
what
these
hotels
can
be
goes
way
beyond
the
conventional
model.
If
you'll
forgive
the
pun,
they
were
the
right
partner
to
bring
in
to
make
this
development
happen,
and
they
are
absolutely
the
right
stewards
to
operate.
This
world-class
facility
going
forward.
E
E
So
thank
you,
gentlemen
and
ladies
thanks
to
ver
my
very
long
time
friend
and
my
partner,
robin
brown
inarguably,
the
most
energetic
and
creative
hotel
executive
in
boston,
yes,
say:
hallelujah
for
jeff
we're
jumping
on
board
at
the
very
beginning,
robin's
contributions
to
helping
us
win
the
developer
designation
and
to
making
this
hotel
unique
are
far
far
far
too
numerous
to
mention.
But
thank
you.
E
Thank
you
to
our
brilliant
art
consultant,
charlotte
riggs
and
her
colleagues
at
riggs
cooper,
who
curated
the
art
collection
here
at
the
hotel,
which
is
a
key
key
part
of
differentiating
it.
And
finally,
thanks
to
our
truly
extraordinary
team
at
the
davis
companies
who
took
the
laboring
ore
in
overseeing
the
thousands,
literally
thousands
of
of
pieces
and
parts
that
needed
to
be
attended
to
from
start
to
finish.
In
order
to
bring
this
project
to
life.
Scores
of
people
from
the
davis
companies
contributed.
E
E
They
were
the
first
residents
of
the
beautiful
rooms
upstairs
and
they
didn't
sleep
in
them
very
often
and,
of
course,
to
brian
fallon,
who
has
headed
our
development
group
for
the
last
six
years
coming
into
our
company,
just
as
we
were
putting
our
team
together
for
this
competition
without
brian's,
calm,
determination,
his
focus,
the
respect
he
commands
from
his
team
and
consultants
and
his
deep
understanding
of
what
it
takes
to
build
a
large,
complex
project
like
this.
We
never
could
have
come
to
this
day.
E
When
he
came
to
the
davis
companies
in
2015
brian
told
me
he
stick
around
for
five
years.
Luckily
I
was
able
to
persuade
him
to
extend
it
to
six
and
ultimately
slightly
beyond,
so
that
you
could
see
this
project
through
brian
is
retiring
on
friday.
Please
join
me
in
thanking
him
and
wishing
him
the
very,
very
best
things
required.
E
B
Thank
you,
jonathan.
I'm
going
to
tell
you
a
story
in
a
little
bit
about
why
I
love
omni
and
it's
not
just
because
of
their
investment
here
in
boston,
not
a
lot
of
hotel
operators.
Do
that
so
that's
said
a
lot.
You
know
we're
grateful
for
that,
but
I
have
a
personal
affinity
I'll
share
a
little
bit
later.
B
I
also
have
a
personality
finney
for
the
next
speaker,
who
is
a
long-time
family
friend
who
had
a
distinguished
career
in
public
service
as
former
secretary
of
transportation
and
as
jonathan
davis
mentioned
the
partner
in
this
in
this
project
and
really
helped
change
the
game
here
in
boston
and
make
a
dramatic
shift
towards
inclusion
in
our
real
estate
community.
F
Thanks
very
much
senator,
let
me
at
the
outset
thank
you
nick
thank
the
entire
south
boston
delegation
for
their
support
for
this
entire
project
and
governor.
As
I
listen
to
you
talk
about
the
rate
of
vaccination,
the
progress
we've
made
in
the
state.
F
F
There
are
many
people
to
thank
as
john
mentioned,
but
I
was
chatting
the
other
day
with
my
partner
larry
smith,
and
he
reminded
me
that
we
began
talking
to
the
late
howard
elkis
in
2013.
F
F
F
In
particular,
he
had
raised
money
for
the
boys
and
girls
club
and
other
community-based
issues,
so
we
knew
that
he
was
more
than
just
a
business
person
and
robin
brown
robin
held
court.
As
many
of
you
recall
in
the
old
bristol
lounge,
and
we
went
there
charles
stiff
made
sure
everybody
came,
it
was
comfortable
for
everybody
before
diversity
was
popular
when
he
had
control
of
a
major
facility.
F
He
ensured
that
everybody
was
welcome.
So
those
were
the
values
that
brought
to
us
when
larry
and
I
made
a
decision
to
put
our
full
team
together,
we
would
eventually
recruit
a
comprehensive
proposal,
a
team
that
did
the
following.
The
title
was
unconventional
hospitality,
breaking
new
ground
breaking
new
ground.
F
The
phrase
was
a
play
on
words
symbolizing,
so
much
more
than
the
sweeping
physical
characteristics
of
this
complex
designed
by
elcas
manfredi
moody
nolan,
stalin
lee-
and
this
was
mentioned,
built
by
john
moriarty
and
greg
jamie's,
talented
team,
brian
fallon,
jason
tilly
from
davis,
were
critical
during
this
construction
period.
Again
without
you
two
guys
it
would
not
have
happened,
understanding
your
thank
you
they
deserve
it.
I
mean
day
in
and
day
out,.
F
F
I
also
want
to
thank
lisa
whaling,
who
you
hear
from
later
lisa
and
andrew
and
their
team
for
continuing
this
policy
and
adding
more
components
to
it.
I
want
to
thank
you
for
that.
One
project
it
doesn't
work,
but
it
was
also
a
clarion
call
for
new
partnerships,
new
joint
ventures,
new
business
relationships
that
started
here
but
have
now
expanded
to
other
projects.
Throughout
the
city.
F
F
My
portfolio
has
expanded
and
so
have
others,
but
I
am
equally
as
proud
of
the
39
minority
investors
who
put
their
money
at
a
risk
and
better
on
our
team
in
the
beginning
they
didn't
come
in
at
the
end.
They
put
their
money
up
with
us
and
I'm
going
to
ask
those
here
from
the
minority
investors
to
please
stand
up.
Thank
you.
Please
stand
up,
don't
be
shy.
Stand
up
stand
up.
F
F
That's
the
new
boston,
that's
the
new
boston
and
now
let
me
turn
to
our
operating
partner,
harmony.
New
boston.
Hospitality
could
not
be
more
proud
to
have
army,
as
our
investor
partner
and
operator
they've
built,
managed
and
served
the
public
in
major
markets
all
over
the
country,
especially
the
convention
market,
first
class
facilities,
first
class
service
and
extensive
marketing
and
consumer
reservation
systems.
F
Bob.
I
remember
several
years
ago
when
we
had
dinner.
Bob
was
kind
of
tough
that
night
and
he
said
richard,
we
don't
usually
have
partners,
but
I
can
tell
you
and
john
and
robin
if
we
come
in
we'll
be
the
best
partners.
You've
ever
had
and
they've
delivered,
give
them
a
hand.
They
really
have
done
a
fantastic
job,
fantastic
job.
Well,
thank
you.
F
And
so
it
is
our
collective
hope
that
this
omni
brand
and
the
diverse
ownership
of
this
hotel
will
provide
the
greater
boston
convention
and
business
bureau
and
the
convention
center
and
others
to
secure
convention
business
from
across
the
globe
coming
to
a
facility,
that's
living,
boston's
history
and
leading
boston's
future.
Thank
you
very
much.
B
Thank
you,
richard
we're
joined
by
our
mayors
want
to
welcome
our
mayor,
kim
janey
will
be
speaking
in
a
minute.
The
the
partnerships
here,
as
I
said
you
know,
reflected
in
the
name,
are
of
all
things,
so
I
do
want
to
recognize
our
local
26
unite
here.
B
Hotel
workers,
president
carlos
aramaio,
who
are
great
partners
in
this
planning
effort
as
well.
Not
something
you
see
all
the
time
and
what
came
out
of
this
is
a
significant
commitment
as
it
relates
to
jobs
and
job
training
going
forward,
which
is
something
we're
very,
very
excited
about,
and
our
next
speaker
had
a
lot
to
do
with
congressman
steve.
B
Lynch
is
someone
that
you
know:
I've
had
the
the
privilege
of
being
represented
by
you
know
for
almost
my
entire
adult
life,
my
conscious
life
for
sure
at
the
state
and
local
level,
but
as
our
congressman
elected
in
2001
a
proud
moment
for
me,
was,
I
voted
absentee
ballot
on
my
way
out
of
town
to
go
to
college
for
congressman
lynch's
election
and,
unfortunately
that
that
day
was
a
difficult
one,
one
that
we're
commemorating
this
saturday,
but
his
his
focus
has
always
been
on
economic
development.
G
I've
been
around
for
a
lot
of
governors
and
there's
been
no
governor.
That
has
been
more
present
in
the
city
of
boston
than
the
neighborhood
of
south
boston
than
my
friend
governor
charlie
baker.
So
he's
not
he's
not
new
at
all
to
this
area.
He
has
been
totally
committed
on
this
project
and
it
has
been
a
labor
of
love
for
a
lot
of
different
people.
G
G
He's
got
contract
negotiations
going
on
and
something
else
on
some
other
project,
but
in
real
terms,
the
the
biggest
impact
that
may
be
felt
across
the
city
is
probably
going
to
happen
in
the
basement
of
this
building
in
this
hotel,
where
the
800
employees,
who
will
eventually
be
working
here,
will
go
through
a
training
program
and
that
that
training
program
run
by
the
army
and
partnered
with
local
26
is
really
going
to
make
a
huge
difference
in
the
lives
of
a
lot
of
people
in
this
city,
where
we
continually
bring
in
people,
train
them
and
then
build
careers,
and,
if
you're
familiar
at
all
with
local
26
united
restaurant
workers,
they
have
a
they
have
a
career,
oriented
training
program
that
that
will
allow
people
to
come
to
work
here
and
enjoy
good
wages,
fantastic
working
conditions
and
retirement
benefits
and
health
care.
G
That
will
really
allow
them
to
participate
fully
in
society
and
be
proud
members
of
our
community.
So
that's
that's
really.
The
biggest
difference.
That's
gonna
that
this
is
going
to
make.
I
do
also
want
to
thank
the
boston
building
trades
and
john
mariarty
and
and
greg
jane
for
the
work
that
they've
done
here.
G
The
local
officials,
like
myself,
we've
had
an
opportunity
to
watch
this
for
a
for
a
long
process
and
it's
been
a
tough
couple
of
years
for
the
hotel
industry,
but
we
saw
the
way
that
they
used
a
diverse
workforce
and
used
the
skills
and
and
trade
craft
that
they
have
taught
through
their
apprenticeship
programs
to
create
such
a
beautiful
beautiful
facility.
So
I
want
to
congratulate
them.
G
We
thank
as
well
tommy
flynn
and
the
carpenters
union
for
putting
money
in
here
and
investing
side
by
side
with
with
all
the
developers
that
and
investors
that
you
you
saw
earlier
in
the
program,
but
this
has
been
a
real
labor
of
love,
we're
delighted
that
there's
been
so
much
participation
across
the
city.
G
I
want
to
thank
some
of
our
our
local
ambassadors
of
paul
barrett
and
bob
ryan
and
his
wife
penny,
who
are
here,
who
really
did
try
to
knit
a
closer
relationship
between
the
omni
hotel
and
the
community
of
south
boston,
but
also
the
wider
city
as
well.
So
this
is
a.
This
is
a
victory
for
all
of
us.
G
Mayor
janie
has
had
a
very
I'd,
say,
solidifying
and
and
supportive
influence
on
the
end
result.
Here
I
want
to
thank
her
for
her
contributions
as
well
and,
like
I
said
this
has
been
a
tough
couple
of
years
for
the
hotel
industry
and
I'm
very
proud
that
that
my
colleagues
in
congress
did
step
forward
with
the
american
rescue
plan
they're,
trying
to
keep
hope
alive
for
a
lot
of
restaurant
workers.
G
A
lot
of
businesses
who
are
struggling
with
paying
their
employees
and
now
hopefully-
and
I
know
we're
still
we're-
still
matched
up
and
and
challenged
by
this
delta
variant
and
others.
We
can
see
the
the
light
at
the
end
of
the
tunnel
when
this
robust
hotel
industry
will
return
thanks
to
the
great
help
of
david
gibbons
over
at
the
massachusetts
convention
center
authority
and
we'll
be
able
to
to
get
us
back
to
a
a
more
normal
pattern
of
life
and
normal
pattern
of
business
where
this
facility
will
flourish.
G
So
I
want
to
thank
all
the
partners
who
were
involved
in
this
project
and
I'm
very
excited
about
the
opening
and
hiring
on
all
800
of
those
workers.
Thank
you
very
much.
B
Thank
you
congressman
always
helping
us
keep
our
eye
on
the
on
the
prize
and
on
the
ball.
I
do
want
to
recognize
a
few
people
before
I
invite
up
our
mayor
representative,
brandie
fluke
oakley
is
with
us.
Thank
you
for
joining
us,
as
well
as
lee
pelton
president
of
the
boston
foundation.
Thanks
for
joining
us.
B
B
B
H
Good
afternoon
good
afternoon,
let
me
start
by
thanking
senator
nick
collins
for
that
introduction
and
certainly
for
the
work
that
he
does
right
here
in
this
community.
I
am
so
delighted
to
be
here
to
celebrate
this
milestone
for
the
city
of
boston,
the
opening
of
the
omni
boston
at
the
seaport.
H
I
want
to
thank
lisa
wieland
for
her
strategic
leadership
as
ceo
of
massport.
I'd
also
like
to
recognize
our
elected
officials,
governor
charlie
baker,
congressman
stephen
lynch
representative,
david
beal
city
councillors,
michael
flaherty,
who
had
to
leave
and
council
councillor
flynn,
who
are
here
to
bob
rowling
president
and
ceo
of
trt
holdings
into
peter
strebel,
president
of
omni
hotels.
Congratulations
on
your
newest
addition
to
the
omni
portfolio
cuttings,
like
today,
only
happen
after
years
of
planning
problem
solving
and
execution.
H
It
is
the
development
team
that
navigates
a
gauntlet
of
financial
and
operational
challenges
to
create
world-class
real
estate.
So
I
want
to
lift
up
the
extraordinary
omni
boston
at
the
seaport
development
team,
led
by
my
dear
friend
richard
taylor
of
the
taylor,
smooth
group,
taylor
smith
group,
give
it
up
for
richard.
H
Richard
stole
my
my
campaign
slogan,
living
boston's
history
leading
boston's
future.
That
is
what
I
am
doing
as
mayor
of
boston,
but
that's,
okay,
because
he's
my
friend
I
also
I
want
to
recognize
jonathan
davis
of
the
davis
companies
as
entrepreneurs,
innovators
and
community
leaders.
Your
partnership
represents
the
best
of
boston's
real
estate
sector.
H
Joint
ventures
such
as
the
taylor
smith
group
and
the
davis
companies,
are
a
hallmark
of
this
project,
guided
by
massport's
pioneering
procurement
model,
which
is
a
model
a
groundbreaking
model
for
all
of
us.
This
project
brought
minority
business
enterprises,
together
with
other
firms
to
provide
services
ranging
from
general
contracting
to
architectural
design.
H
H
H
H
H
The
city
of
boston
is
leading
by
example,
setting
our
own
goals
for
more
for
more
equitable
procurement
program
and
for
issuing
eight
hundred
and
twenty
thousand
in
an
opportunity
fund
to
support
and
help
minority
owned
companies
build
their
capacity
for
larger
scale
projects.
H
H
So
I
don't
understand
that
one
we've
cut
it
from
a
nine
page
paper,
application
to
a
three
page
online
form.
We
are
making
progress,
we
can't
go
back,
we
have
to
go
better.
We've
also
launched
the
first
combined
database
of
over
four
thousand
firms
with
city
or
state
and
beat
mbe
certification,
and
we
have
published
the
first
city
of
boston
buying
plan
establishing
more
than
65
million
dollars
in
planned
city
purchases.
H
This
forecast
gives
smaller
firms,
including
mbes
valuable,
lead
time
to
secure
additional
equipment
or
staff
to
prepare
large
bids.
These
measures
are
just
a
start,
working
together
in
public
and
private
partnership.
We
are
creating
new
pathways
of
opportunity
for
boston's,
diverse
entrepreneurs
to
drive
our
city's
economic
recovery,
reopening
and
renewal.
H
H
B
Not
just
our
airport,
that
that
is
a
big
revenue
generator,
but
our
port
here
in
boston,
right
down
the
street
conley
terminal,
our
cruise
port,
really
balancing
out
massport's
portfolio
and
part
of
that
is
also
the
real
estate
development
on
land
that
we
sit
on
here.
So
without
further
ado,
I'd
like
to
invite
the
president,
ceo
of
massport,
lisa,
whelan,.
I
A
J
I
I
I'd
like
to
recognize
a
couple
of
people
in
the
audience
who
joined
us
today,
who
haven't
already
been
given
a
shout
out
and
one
who's
been
a
key
advisor
on
the
massport
model
throughout
and
that
civic
rights,
legend
ernie
green.
Thank
you
for
coming.
I
I'd
also
like
to
acknowledge
massachusetts,
transportation,
secretary
and
new
stock,
ceo
jb
tesler
executive,
director
of
the
massachusetts
office
of
travel
and
tourism
go
and
raw
david
gibbons.
Thank
you
so
much
for
enabling
us
to
build
this
fabulous
hotel
and
then
finally,
someone
who
is
not
here
but
made
a
big
difference
in
this
project.
Former
boston,
mayor
marty,
walsh,
current
u.s,
labor
secretary
events
like
these
are
times
to
celebrate,
but
there
are
also
times
to
reflect
and
the
effort
to
build.
I
That
team
has
worked
together
to
deliver
this
top-notch
hotel
and,
as
the
project
went
from
concept
to
completion.
I
think
a
few
key
ideas
and
a
few
key
takeaways
became
clear.
First
public
policy
that
broadens
and
deepens
economic
opportunity
paired
with
a
competitive
market-driven
process
can
make
a
real
difference
when.
I
I
D
I
E
I
B
Thank
you
lisa
and
to
the
team
at
massport.
That's
been,
you
know,
dealing
with
a
challenging
year.
We're
we're
grateful
for
your
commitment
here
and
into
our
port
and
to
economic
development
in
boston
and
across
the
state.
B
B
The
united
states
navy,
25-year
veteran
of
the
united
states
navy
we're
honored
this
week
to
have
the
medal
of
honor
society
celebrating
that
convention
and
in
terms
of
how
we
bring
people
into
these
projects
and
and
create
economic
opportunity
for
all
making
sure,
especially
that
our
veterans,
I'm
remaining
a
priority
and
city
council
ed
flynn.
Please
join
us.
L
It's
an
honor
for
me
to
be
here
today
to
say
thank
you
to
the
development
team
to
mr
taylor,
to
mr
davis
for
bringing
in
woman-owned
companies
for
bringing
in
minority-owned
companies
mr
moriarty
and
mr
janey,
giving
people
the
opportunity
for
not
for
not
a
job
but
a
career
as
congress
congressman
lynch
stated
our
hotel
and
restaurant
workers.
Local
26
are
the
backbone
of
our
city,
we're
also
extremely
proud
of
our
building
trades
and
our
union
carpenters
that
helped
build
this
beautiful
building.
L
So
you
provided
opportunity
you
provided
hope
in
a
decent
wage
in
in
fear
working
conditions
for
so
many
people
that
desperately
needed
it
during
a
very
difficult
time.
So,
on
behalf
of
my
neighbors
in
south
boston,
we
want
to
say
thank
you
to
mr
mr
davis
and
the
incredible
job
that
he
did
in
bringing
together
minority
contractors
and
women-owned
contractors
and
veteran
owned
companies
as
well.
It's
another
important
part
of
the
discussion,
so
on
behalf
of
my
neighbors
in
south
boston
and
the
residents
of
boston.
L
B
Thank
you
councillor.
It's
been
four,
but
it
feels
like
eight,
so
it's
like
doing
twice
the
work.
Next,
I
would
like
to
recognize
someone
who
had
worked
with
us
in
the
legislature
at
the
time
when
this
project
got
off
the
ground
and
is
now
serving
as
a
state
representative
and
doing
a
great
job,
making
sure
that
we
get
projects
like
this
right.
That's
representative,
david
beal,.
K
K
K
We
have
the
port
of
boston
and
flynn
cruise
port
and
also,
as
was
mentioned
right
across
the
street,
the
boston
convention
and
exhibition
center,
and
I
want
to
thank
and
acknowledge
bcec
and
the
mcca
for
the
work
that
they
do
and
congratulate
them
on
on
a
great
first
weekend
with
the
convention
that
was
in.
K
I
also
want
to
thank
massport
for
their
steadfast
involvement
in
this,
as
was
discussed
throughout
today,
and
it's
important
to
highlight
and
reinforce.
The
massport
model
did
a
fantastic
job,
creating
opportunities
at
all
levels
of
the
project
for
diversity,
equity,
inclusion
for
women-owned
businesses,
minority
owned
businesses
and
entrepreneurs,
and
I
want
to
thank
massport
for
their
leadership
on
that.
It's
it's
great
to
be
leading
the
way
on
that
issue
here
in
the
city
of
boston
and
in
terms
of
the
nuts
and
bolts
of
it.
K
You
know
we're
standing
here
today
in
a
beautiful
building
that
was
built
with
the
help
of
the
boston
building
trades
and
the
carpenters,
which
are
great
blue
collar
jobs
that
provide
for
families.
So
I
want
to
thank
them
for
for
being
here
and
in
terms
of
operations,
as
was
discussed,
local
26
does
a
fantastic
job
and
I
look
forward
to
the
work
that's
going
to
be
done
here
to
equip
people
with
the
tools
that
they
need
to
do
well
in
in
hospitality.
K
Also,
looking
around,
we
have
a
tremendous
artist
community
just
down
the
street
in
four
point,
and
I
know
that
the
omni
and
their
team
did
a
fantastic
job
of
making
sure
that
local
artists,
local
entrepreneurs,
also
have
a
have
a
place
here.
Lastly,
it
doesn't
just
stop
here
at
the
building.
I
know
this
project
will
generate
a
lot
of
economic
opportunities
and
supports
for
youth
programs,
economic
empowerment
programs
in
the
city
of
boston.
K
So
I
want
to
thank
omni
davis
and
the
team
for
their
support
of
that
today's
a
great
day
and
with
the
help
of
folks,
like
paul
barrett,
bob
ryan,
we'll
look
forward
to
future
successes
to
make
sure
that
we're
putting
people
to
work
and
opportunities
to
succeed
and
make
sure
that
everybody
has
a
chance
to
participate
and
prosper
in
the
economies
that
we're
building.
So
I
look
forward
to
the
future
successes
stories
coming
out
of
this
building
and
beyond,
and
thank
you
everybody
for
being
here
and
who
made
this
project
possible.
B
Thank
you,
representative
beal.
Without
the
next
two
gentlemen,
we're
going
to
bring
up
this
project
would
not
have
happened
literally.
Everything
else
great.
This
wouldn't
have
happened
because
there
was
so
much
hesitancy
in
part
with
the
administration,
but
also
you
know
in
public
discourse
around
a
subsidy
to
get
the
project
off
the
ground.
The
way,
hotels,
I'm
sure
many
in
the
room.
B
If
I
said
there's
anywhere
else,
they
may
not
know
what
I'm
talking
about,
but
you
know
the
the
the
real
estate
model
on
the
hotel
financing
didn't
always
work
and
so
needing
a
partner.
In
this
case
to
get
off
the
ground,
people
thought
we
were
considering
state
funds
not
just
in
a
creative
lease,
but
actually
from
the
legislature,
which
would
have
been
a
non-starter
and
so
omni
and
their
partner
real
estate
partners.
B
You
know
stepped
in
and
said
we're
gonna
make
investment,
that's
what
we
do,
which
is
incredible,
so
I
want
to
invite
up.
You
know
someone
without
him.
This
wouldn't
have
happened.
That's
robert
rowling
of
trt
holdings.
Please
thank
you.
J
Thank
you.
Well,
we've
been
here
a
long
time
and
I
can.
I
can
cut
my
speech
a
little
bit
short
by
just
saying
everybody
that
john
davis
thanked.
I
say
thank
you
and
a
couple
more.
I
just
want
to
point
out.
I
want
to
thank
the
governor
who
just
left
for
taking
the
time
mayor
janie.
Thank
you
for
being
here
all
the
local
elected
officials.
Thank
you
lisa.
We
only
thank
you
for
massport.
I
hope
we
we
promised
massport
we'd
do
something
special
here
and
I
think
we
really
really
did.
J
I
hope
you
all
think
so
as
well.
I
want
to
also
say
a
little
bit
about
our
partners,
richard
john
davis,
brian
fallon,
robin
you
know,
it's
been
a
we
don't
we
don't
do
partnerships
often,
and
this
one
hasn't
been
easy.
We
we
have,
we
have
fought
and
scratched.
J
J
It's
been
a
long
time
in
coming.
It
seems
like
a
lifetime
ago
we
were
on
this
site
turning
dirt
for
the
groundbreaking
and
then
along
came
covet
and
construction
during
covet
is
not
an
easy
thing.
You
know
our
original
our
original
opening
date
was
april.
Then
we
moved
it
to
july
1st,
and
now
here
we
are
in
september,
the
supply
chain
got
messed
up,
we
shut
the
job
site
was
shut
down
for
a
couple
of
months,
something
like
that.
J
It
was
tough
and
so
talk
to
all
of
the
associates
with
the
davis
companies
who
thank
you,
you
guys
really
really
helped
and
robin
particularly,
I
was
talking
to
robin,
and
you
know
this
hotel
for
us
is
kind
of
a
little
bit
of
cutting
edge.
You
know
I
told
somebody
the
art
behind
the
desk.
J
It
kind
of
blew
my
mind
when
I
first
saw
it
and
but
I've
fallen
in
love
and
robin
pushed
this,
and
I
really
I
think
this
place.
I
hope
you
all
will
take
the
time
to
look
around.
Omni
has
really
somebody
said
this.
We've
done
more
big
box
development
in
the
last
10
years
than
anybody
in
the
country,
and
everyone
seems
to
get
better,
and
I
want
to
call
that
peter
called
him
out,
but
our
development
team-
and
I
can't
name
them
all
but
laura
mccoy
brett
simmerelli
they're,
both
sitting
here.
J
They
spent
countless
hours
on
this,
along
with
all
the
the
hired
development
team
who
robin
I
mean
john.
Thank
all
of
them.
Please
look
around.
I
mean
this
place
is
magnificent
from
the
sports
bar
to
the
probably
the
nicest
meeting
space
the
biggest
ballroom
in
the
city
and
the
pre-function
space
is
unbelievable.
The
pool
bar
the
spa,
the
rooms
themselves,
the
new
koji
restaurant
here
I
walked
through
it
for
the
first
time
since
it's
been
finished,
it'll
blow
you
away,
it
is
so
spectacular,
and
so
I
want
to
thank
all
of
the
the
development.
J
I
also
want
to
thank
the
omni
management
team
who's
been
here.
Some
of
you
have
been
here
on
task
force.
For
months
we
were
walking
to
dinner
last
night,
richard
oakes
who's,
our
purchase
in
charge
of
purchasing
he's
been
here
over
two
months
away
from
his
family
and
away
from
home.
He
was
going
to
dinner,
I
said
well,
how's
it
going.
He
said
bobby
said:
you
realize
that
the
osme
that's
operating
supplies
and
equipment
for
this
hotel.
It's
over
eight
million
dollars,
that's
bars
of
soap.
J
You
know
coffee
makers,
ice
buckets
any
and
the
problem
with
buying
eight
million
dollars
worth
of
little
things.
At
this
time
it
doesn't
come.
The
supply
chain
is
messed
up,
it
doesn't
come
in
one
shipment
anymore,
so
he's
been
there
after.
We
were
here
two
months
ago,
he's
at
the
receiving
dock,
and
here
come
the
truck.
So
thank
you
for
all
the
omni
team
who's
been
here
spending
away
from
your
family
spending
your
time
here.
J
You
know
this
is
just
a
building
and
without
the
management
they're
the
ones
that
bring
it
to
life.
So
and
I
I
love
mike
jorgensen
who's,
our
general
manager
he's
hired
an
incredible
staff
here
and
I
promise
you.
You
know
it's
hard
in
a
thousand
sixty
room
hotel
to
provide
great
great
service,
because
people
are
coming
and
going.
Omni
is
really
good
at
that
and
mike
and
his
team
will
bring
great
service
to
all
of
our
guests
here.
So
thank
you.
J
I
do
think
the
omni
at
the
seaport
will
be
the
epicenter
for
activity
here
in
boston.
I
think
that,
what's
going
to
happen
here
over
the
next
year,
and
just
even
as
as
we
since
we
broke
ground
here,
you
know
years
ago,
what's
grown
up
around
us
is
amazing,
and
so
we
we're
just
really
really
I'm
just
in
my
comments,
saying
we're
so
thankful
and
feel
so
blessed
to
be
a
part
of
this
project.
So
thank
you
for
having
us.
B
And
some
of
the
people
that
were
that
are
part
of
this
and
michael
and
I
talked
about
this-
the
other
day
is
a
long
time
friend
of
mine,
melissa
mckenna.
So
I
want
to
give
melissa
who's
a
member
of
this
omni
team
and
some
of
the
partners
that
were
discussed
earlier,
one
of
them
one
of
the
leaders
of
that
organization
with
us
today,
bob
scannell
of
the
boys
and
girls
clubs
of
dorchester.
Thank
you
for
being
with
us
bob.
B
So
we're
wrapping
up
the
speaking
program
here,
saving
the
best
for
last
the
president
of
omni
hotels,
peters
trouble.
I
do
want
to
share
a
quick
story.
Why
I
love
omni
has
nothing
to
do
with
him,
although
I'm
sure
it
will
in
the
future,
in
the
assets
and
operations
they
have
across
the
the
country
which
are
which
are
renowned.
But
the
the
omni
pocket
here
in
boston
is
my
favorite
hotel
and
my
wife,
and
I
stayed
there.
B
The
night
of
our
wedding
actually
stayed
the
night
before
too,
but
I
want
to
put
a
pause
on
that
and
and
speak
about
why
it's
relevant.
The
history
here
in
boston
is
incredible
and
nominee's
a
big
part
of
that
right
up
the
street.
We
have
dorchester
heights
george
washington
up
there
telling
the
british
to
pack
their
bags
and
they
did
bloody
war
after
that,
but
it
ended
here
in
boston
with
without
a
shot,
and
the
army
speaks
to
that.
If
you're,
an
elected
official
in
sao
paulo,
you
work
in
local
politics.
B
If
you
don't
know
that
history
you're
out
of
business,
so
it's
an
incredible
history
to
to
stitch
together
and
and
omni,
is
a
big
steward
of
that.
So
at
the
army
hotel.
I
forget
what
floor
it
was.
The
the
big
figure
in
the
evacuation
of
boston
was
henry
knox,
brought
the
cannons
from
fort
ticonderoga
that
set
boston
up
to
actually
compete
against.
The
british
at
that
point
with
artillery
he's
got
a
whole
room
at
the
army.
B
Pocket
house
and
my
wife
gets
sick
of
hearing
about
evacuation
day
by
the
time
it's
over,
because
it's
like
a
month-long
exercise
in
south
boston.
So
the
night
of
my
wedding,
we
walk
in
it's
henry
knox,
it's
the
cannons,
and
and
so
we
got
a
special
night
just
because
of
that,
and
and
I
wanna
I.
D
M
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
I
am
the
last
one
to
speak.
I
promise
I'll
be
very
brief.
I'm
going
to
take
what
my
boss
said,
I'm
going
to
do
the
same
thing
as
him,
I'm
not
going
to
thank
anybody,
but
I'm
going
to
let
john
davis,
whatever
everyone
I
want
to
thank
it's
the
people
who
john
wanted
to
thank
so,
but
this
is
truly
an
honor
for
me
to
be
here
today
to
welcome
all
of
you
to
our
new
home
here
in
boston,
the
omni
boston
hotel
to
seaport.
M
You
know
this
was
an
ambitious
idea
that
we
all
thought
was
kind
of
an
idea.
That
would
never
happen
and,
as
bob
had
said,
through
a
lot
of
hard
work,
a
lot
of
love
and
a
lot
of
fighting.
We
got
this
all
done
and
it
is
incredibly
beautiful
and
I
hope
after
today
you
can
walk
around
the
hotel
and
experience
everything
it
has
to
offer.
M
This
property
gave
omni
a
great
great,
a
great
part,
to
be
a
part
of
many
organizations,
as
many
people
said.
As
bob
said,
we
usually
develop
these
hotels
by
ourselves,
but
having
partners
really
truly,
I
think,
got
the
best
out
of
us
and
made
this
truly
the
best
project
we
have.
I
do
want
to
thank
two
people,
because
when
you
walk
through
this
hotel,
there's
two
people
that
probably
have
the
most
influence
in
this
building.
M
We
have
a
saying
at
omni.
It's
called
focus,
passion,
energy
and
drive,
and
their
focus
and
passion,
energy
and
drive
brought
this
building
to
where
it
is,
and
that
person's
laura
mccoy
and
robin
brown.
They
both
spent
numerous
hours,
and
I
I
saw
the
meticulous
attention
to
detail
of
every
piece
of
wood
where
it
is
every
piece
of
art
where
it
is
every
restaurant
concept.
So
thank
you.
Both.
It
truly
is
magical.
M
The
other
good
thing
about
this
hotel
is
the
massport
model,
we're
real,
proud
of
that
about
bringing
diversity
and
inclusion
in
into
our
company
and
into
boston.
I
think
this
is
a
great
project,
that's
owned
by
many
people,
and
I
think
we're
going
to
do
real
well,
because
of
that
I
also
want
to
let
everybody
know
that
we
are
at
army.
M
This
hotel
is
going
to
generate
another
300
000
meals
a
year
that
we
will
be
purchasing
and
that
those
meals
will
go
right
to
the
city
of
austin
and
then
today,
we're
going
to
donate
two
meals
for
everybody
that
came
so
over.
A
thousand
meals
are
going
into
boston
right
away.
So
we're
real
excited
about
that.
M
Today
our
family
has
grown
big.
We
are
welcoming
over
500
new
associates
to
our
omni
family,
and
that
is
exciting
so
to
all
the
employees
that
are
here
and
all
the
associates
that
are
here
welcome
to
our
family.
I
can't
wait
to
get
to
know
all
of
you
and
spend
some
time
with
you.
So
thank
you,
and
now
I'm
going
to
end
this
thing
with
excited
to
be
here
again.
I
hope
that
you
all
can
take
a
walk
around
and
visit
all
of
our
spaces.
M
M
B
Have
a
special
thing:
we
have
something
special.
Thank
you
peter
we're
gonna
welcome
michael
and
his
wife
wendy
up.
So,
if
wendy
can
you
join
us
and
penny
if
you
can
join
us
on
the
stage
wendy
and
penny.
B
A
So
I
know
now
wendy's
gonna
say
to
me
often
you
know
nick
collins
got
me
flowers.
So
thank
you
nick.
I
appreciate
that.
That's
my
lovely
wife.
They
say
that
be
behind
every
good
man
is
a
great
woman
and
she's
a
great
woman.
A
So
I
know
you
think
this
is
all
about
speeches,
however,
and
I
had
my
first
assignment
I
was
told
by
the
marketing
folks
I
needed
to
keep
every
speech
to
four
minutes.
A
I
don't
think
I
passed
actually,
but
there
is
the
ceremonial
unveiling
of
the
ribbon
and
we
will
do
the
ribbon
cutting
now.
So
I'd
like
to
bring
up
four
of
our
employees,
gus
gus
come
on
up
sal,
cabba
and
elena
come
on
up.
