From YouTube: 180 Telford Condominiums Ribbon Cutting
Description
Mayor Walsh offers remarks before cutting the ribbon for the 180 Telford Condominium complex in Allston. 180 Telford is a 240 unit mixed-income rental development with 85 units of market rate and 20 units of affordable condos.
A
A
A
It's
a
real
honor
to
be
here
today
with
our
friends,
mayor,
Walsh
represented
opponent,
representative
Moran
and
the
other
devoted
colleagues,
art
devoted
colleagues
at
at
at
at
the
Charles
view
across
the
street,
of
which
this
project
is
a
part
to
especially
acknowledge
representative
Moran,
in
particular,
for
being
an
integral
part
of
the
Charles
redevelopment
project
from
the
beginning
and
for
the
work
that
you
have
done
representative
on
developing,
affordable
housing
here
and
throughout
the
neighborhood.
We're
also
grateful
to
have
counselors
councillor
travel
here,
great,
who.
B
A
Peripheral
vision
is
not
that
good,
who
has
long
been
a
supporter
and
encouraging
force
behind
the
creation
of
new
home,
restrict
home
ownership
opportunities
in
the
neighborhood,
and
this
project
in
particular,
I
also
want
to
take
a
second
to
thank
Sheila
Dillon
and
from
the
mayor's
office
of
housing
has
been
very
helpful
with
the
project
and
I
want
to
call
out
three
agencies.
You
know
they
say
it
takes
a
village.
I
think
it
might
have
taken
a
little
bit
more
than
a
village
to
get
this
project
done.
A
First,
I
want
to
thank
micro,
help
from
the
the
Deputy
Commissioner
of
the
Department
of
Public
Works,
who
walked
our
3fp
I,
see
approvals
through
and
without
whom.
We
even
further
delay
here
than
we
are
I
want
to.
Thank
that
BTD
in
general.
We're
obviously
in
very
tight
quarters
here
and
the
BT
D's
help
was
really
instrumental
in
the
logistics
of
moving
this
project
forward
and,
of
course,
I
want
to
thank
the
BP
da
and
we're
golden
and
joined
really
the
Director
of
Development
I.
A
We
recognize
that
a
representative
and
important
component
of
the
larger
Charles
Charles
redevelopment
and
this
primarily
market
rate
home
ownership
opportunity
played
a
crucial
role
in
serving
the
interests
of
the
community
and
in
delivering
on
promises
that
were
made
through
the
permitting
process
of
the
Charleston
project.
The
response
that
we've
received
from
the
community
has
been
remarkable.
Many
of
you
know
this
project
is
sold
out
already.
A
So
this
project
has
been
a
collaborative
effort,
as
you
can
tell,
and
we're
really
appreciative
of
the
partnership
that
we've
been
able
to
establish
with
the
Altman
Bret
Alston
Brighton
community
in
the
city
of
Boston.
We
wouldn't
be
here
today
without
them.
We're
especially
grateful
to
share
this
milestone
with
Mara
wanted
of
home
and
representative
Moran
without
their
continued
support
and
the
tireless
work
that
they
do
on
behalf
of
the
city
and
its
residents.
A
The
mayor
treats
them
all
fairly
balancing
what
is
good
for
helping
the
city
to
continue
to
thrive
while
making
sure
that
city
residents
and
the
immediate
neighborhood
from
the
economic
growth
there's
no
training
for
these
public
executive
positions.
Some
leaders
grow
into
them
naturally,
and
unfortunately,
as
we've
seen
on
the
larger
stage.
Some
simply
don't
like.
Luckily
for
all
of
us,
mayor
Walsh
falls
into
the
former
category,
Marty
understood
from
the
outset
that
the
creation
of
housing
that's
affordable
to
a
wide
range
of
working
people
was
one
of
Boston's
greatest
issues.
A
He
put
forth
his
own
plan
and
his
ambitious
housing
production
goals
and
he's
executed
on
those
goals
across
the
city,
as
exemplified
in
a
small
way
today
by
the
ribbon-cutting
for
this
project
in
a
short
period
of
time.
The
city
will
have
a
lottery
and
we'll
be
offering
income
eligible
residents
permanent
homes
to
call
their
own
gear
and
they'll
awaken
every
morning
two
views
of
the
Charles
River
and
that
University
on
the
other
side
of
the
river,
the
homeowners
who
are
chosen
by
lottery
to
purchase.
A
One
of
these
units
may
not
understand
the
complexity
of
all
the
teamwork
that
I
talked
about
and
the
economics
that
it
took
to
get
this
project
going,
but
what
they
do
I'm
sure
what
they
will
understand
is
that
they've,
a
mayor
gets
up
every
day,
working
to
provide
good
jobs,
job
training
and
affordable
housing
that
they
and
their
families
can
be
proud
to
live
in.
So.
C
A
C
C
Want
to
thank
John
Steven
and
the
Davis
companies,
not
just
for
this
project,
but
it's
Jonathan
Jonathan
said
when
I
became
the
mayor.
Well,
he
has
a
lot
of
people
that
know
who
I
was
and
he's
one
of
the
people
that
I
would
see
at
different
events
and
I
would
ask
him
and
talk
to
him
about
what
what
what
would
be
the
direction
in
the
future
of
our
city,
and
he
gave
me
different
advice
and
talked
about
different
things.
C
So
I
want
to
thank
you
for
that
advice
too,
over
the
last
year's,
but
it
takes
it.
It
takes
all
of
us
to
move
the
city
forward.
I
want
to
thank
the
elected
officials
up
here,
Mike
Moran,
who
clearly
has
his
pulse
on
brightening
and
working.
So
many
different
projects
here
in
the
Austin
area,
but
I'm
one
thing
Michael
as
well,
because
Michael
doesn't
mince
words
John,
as
you
know,
and
he
understands
the
importance
of
this
project.
C
Do
we
move
this
forward?
How
do
we
do
something
unique
here?
Michael
I
know
was
at
the
beginning
of
that
so
Michael.
Thank
you.
Moxie
elbow
who
mentioned
Washington
2030,
our
master
planning
Maka's
is
involved
as
anybody
with
it
making
sure
that,
as
we
think
about
growing
Boston
making
sure
we
grow
housing
as
we
grow,
housing
make
sure
we
grow
housing
across
all
income
levels.
That
is
not
just
for
rich
people.
C
It's
for
everybody
and
I
want
to
thank
Mike
for
yourself,
also
in
making
sure
that
we've
spent
record
amounts
of
dollars
in
formal
policy
and
on
budget
over
the
last
four
years.
Mike
Mike
Mike
as
the
chair
ways,
it
means
has
been
a
big
part
of
that
making
sure
that
we
continue
to
spend
that
money.
So
thank
you,
Mark
for
you.
C
Do
Kevin
Hamlin
bring
Kevin
up
here
in
a
minute,
but
Kevin
Alden,
who
I
said
this
over
the
last
20
years,
has
had
his
finger
print
actually
his
hand
prints
on
every
single
major
piece
of
legislation
when
it
comes
to
housing.
I,
don't
know
how
many
bundles
this
is
now
I
think
it's
got
to
be
five
or
six
or
seven,
but
Kevin
Holden
has
been
part
of
every
single
one
of
them
as
the
chair,
if
putting
his
hand
on
it.
C
C
Joey
I
want
to
give
you
a
special
shout
out
there
Jill,
Dillon
and
other
folks
who
will
just
do
this
work
every
day
and
I
fell
down
the
back
of
the
community.
Thank
you
very
much
for
the
great
work
you
do.
We
had
a
moment
of
silence
a
minute
ago,
I,
just
like
you
to
all
you
know,
as
we
go
through
the
rest
of
the
day,
think
about
keeping
your
thoughts
and
prayers
the
families
of
the
victims
in
Las
Vegas
in
the
families
of
the
victims
that
are
hurt
in
Las
Vegas.
C
You
know
today's
a
celebration
we're
celebrating
here
today,
but
it
seems
like
every
every
day.
Something
new
happens.
You
know
I'm
not
sure
what
it
is.
Some
of
its
natural
disasters
will
be
saw
in
Houston
in
Florida
and
in
Puerto
Rico
and
in
earthquakes,
in
Mexico
and
the
Caribbean
islands,
and
and
then
incidences
like
today,
whether
it's
terrorism
international
terrorism,
its
domestic
terrorism.
C
You
know
we
just
got
to
remember
who
we
are
as
Americans,
so
other
touch
a
little
bit
up
on.
What's
going
on
in
Washington,
I'm,
not
sure,
what's
happening
in
Washington,
but
I
knew
what's
happening
here
in
Boston.
There's
some
amazing
things.
There's
some
amazing
things
happening
here
and
I
think
we
got
to
continue
those
amazing
things
and
when
we
see
something
that
sad
is
today
think
about
the
strength
of
our
city,
I,
think
about
where
we
are
as
a
city.
When
we
talk
about
creating
housing,
we
talk
about
creating
housing
for
everybody.
C
We
talk
about
creating
jobs
and
economic
opportunity.
We
talk
about
praising
for
everybody
and
that's
what
we
have
to
continue
to
do
when
these
very
difficult
times
right
now
in
our
country,
so
I
just
ask
you
all
to
to
keep
in
your
thoughts
and
prayers
and
I
think
that
the
families,
the
victims
and
their
families
in
Las
Vegas,
as
well
as
all
the
other
folks
that
are
hurt
down
there,
just
to
turn
it
positive.
C
B
C
To
really
create
opportunities
in
the
neighborhood
and
give
people
opportunities,
restaurant
options
for
family
to
people-
that's
the
probably
the
one
of
the
one
of
the
biggest
things
I
hear
around
the
city.
You
know
I
want
restaurants
like
this
part
of
the
neighborhood
or
that
part
of
the
neighborhood
and
really
others
who
were
seeing
now
is
those
restaurants
are
coming
to
every
private
neighborhood
in
our
city.
So
it's
exciting
to
see
in
our
communities.
C
C
So
that's
something
that's
exciting
and
also
the
mix
of
and
I
think.
This
is
what
the
elected
officials
come
in
in
the
community,
the
awareness
of
keeping
the
old
and
the
new
residents
together
and
making
sure
that
we
don't
forget
the
old
residents.
Those
are
the
folks
that
in
my
neighborhood
of
Dorchester,
they
that
in
the
next
door,
neighborhood
self
Boston
they
got
pushed
out
and
they're
gonna
push
down
a
lot
of
ways
of
Charlestown.
D
C
Units
of
housing,
it's
helping
us
towards
out
citywide
goal
of
53,000
units.
Six,
these
units
will
be
affordable,
family
size
geared
towards
first-time
homebuyers,
something
that's
really
important.
People
might
say:
well,
six
units
isn't
a
lot.
Six
units
is
a
lot
when
you
add
it
with
all
of
the
other,
first-time
homebuyer,
we're
putting
in
the
city
across
the
City
of
Austin.
So
you
think
of
all
the
numbers
now
and
now
we're
talking,
in
the
hundreds
hand,
into
the
thousands
our
first
time
first
time,
homebuyer
opportunities.
B
C
Want
to
thank
the
Davis
companies
as
our
partner
for
bringing
these
great
housing
options.
They
also
bring
neighborhood
I
want
to
congratulate
any
potential
future
new
homeowners
here
and
now.
It's
my
pleasure
to
introduce
to
you,
as
I
said
earlier
price
sure
to
save
the
introduction,
but
this
man
truly
has
had
his
hand
in
every
single
piece
of
housing
legislation
in
the
legislature
for
at
least
the
last
17
years.
State
representative,
Kevin,
home.
C
B
Was
knocked
down,
we
had
213
units
here
we
added
about
40,
affordable
and
now
over
on
this
side
and
by
the
way,
the
name
of
it
very
much
wants
an
economic
mix.
They
want
market
rate
along
with
affordable,
so
this
housing
will
address
that
need
that
we
have
here
in
Austin,
writing
of
home
ownership,
and
the
mayor
has
been
leading
the
charge.
Obviously
you
can't.
The
economy
cannot
grow
without
proper
transportation,
proper
environmental
protections
and
without
housing.
We
have
so
many
young
people
in
our
city.
C
B
Need
affordable
housing
and
we
need
to
build
more
housing
and
shield
it
Dylan
done
a
great
job
leading
the
charge
there
and
I
saw
it
Tim
here
from
the
inclusionary
development
program.
Thank
you
for
everything
you're
doing,
but
the
mayor
has
provided
an
enormous
amount
of
leadership
by
setting
an
ambitious
goal
and
leading
the
charge
by
building
community
support.
We
can't
do
these
projects
without
community
support
when
Mike
and
Mark
and
I
went
down.
B
There
were
neighborhood
people
there
in
support,
and
then
there
was
some
who
had
concerns,
but
I
think
the
people
who
had
concerns
when
this
were
built.
Their
concerns
have
been
alleviated
by
looking
at
the
extraordinary,
affordable
housing
across
the
street
in
realizing
there'll,
be
six
homeownership
two
and
three-bedroom
four
families
here.
A
B
B
We
obviously
have
here
a
green
space
out
front
the
neighborhood
very
much
wanted
that
it's
green
space
that
will
be
available
to
all
and
then
again
that
economic
mix
that
our
neighborhood
seems
to
be
really
wanting
right
now,
more
more
of
market-rate
in
addition
to
the
affordable.
Thank
you
very
much.
A
Thanks
so
much
representative
Koenen
for
your
very
kind
words
I
want
to
introduce
Joanne
barber,
the
executive
director
of
the
Charles
view
project
of
Charles.
You
Inc
Joanne,
has
been
a
leading
voice
for
the
Austin
breaking
community
and
it's
been
a
great
honor
to
work
collaboratively
with
her
on
this
project.
She's
strongly
interested
in
the
success
of
this
neighborhood
Joanne.
You've
done
amazing
job.
D
Thank
you.
It's
really
an
honor
to
be
here
with
Mayor
Walsh
and
our
elected
officials.
How
lucky
are
we
that
we
have
this
leadership
for
us
in
our
community
and
in
our
city
advocates
were
really
strongly
supportive
of
affordable
and
mixed
income.
Housing
I
can't
I
can't
imagine
a
better
a
better
scenario
who
knew
this
could
happen
15
years
ago
and
the
board
of
directors
that
Charles.
You
looked
at
that
very
tired
all
development
and
said:
what
are
we
going
to
do
with
it?
D
Who
knew
that
that
that
thought
was
going
to
spark
the
redevelopment
of
a
whole
new
project
with
the
sale
and
the
land
swap
with
Harvard
to
enable
the
development
of
the
240
units
that
you
see
across
the
street
that
also
includes
15,000
square
feet
of
retail
with
a
restaurant.
That
is
an
is
an
excellent
Afghani
restaurant
please
stop
in
there.
They
are
great
and
a
10,000
square
foot
community
center
that
is
used
by
everybody
in
the
Austin
writing
community.
D
Along
with
that,
we
have
the
20,
affordable,
homeownership
units
that
were
developed
as
a
part
of
that
as
well,
and
then,
in
addition
to
this
wonderful
new
development
of
85
units,
it's
been
a
long
and
not
very
easy
process,
as
we
no
but
good
things
do
come
with
persistence,
patience
and
a
willingness
to
listen
to
the
neighborhood
and
its
feedback,
and
that's
exactly
what
this
team,
including
all
of
our
electives,
did
to
hear
what
the
folks
in
the
community
really
wanted
to
see
happening.
We
needed
to
move
the
old
Charles
view.
D
We
moved
199
families
from
that
development
who
have
been
long-term
residents
in
the
Austin.
Writing
community,
that's
huge,
but
we
needed
to
hear
what
the
community
wanted
and
what
they
wanted
was:
a
mix
of
housing,
a
mix
of
incomes,
a
mix
of
rental
and
homeownership,
and
in
choosing
to
work
with
the
Davis
companies.
We
chose
the
right
developer
for
this
project.
This
would
not
have
happened
otherwise,
so
I
want
to
say.
Thank
you
Steven.
Thank
you
John.
This
is
a
great
project.
I
know
that
we
will
have
incredible
neighbors
here
and
know
the
Charles.
D
A
We're
obviously
very
excited
to
share
money
Telford
with
the
community,
and
we
look
forward
to
a
continued
partnership
in
collaboration
with
the
city
of
Boston,
with
the
Austin
bright
neighborhood
and
with
our
friends
at
Charles
view
and
all
our
valued
other
valued
neighbors.
We
are
committed
to
helping
Mayor
Walsh
and
achieve
their
respective
goals,
as
they
have
graciously
helped
us
to
achieve
ours,
and
with
that
