From YouTube: Manufacturing Month Commerce Park Visit
Description
In Hyde Park's Boston Dedham Commerce Park, Mayor Walsh proclaims October as "Manufacturing Month" in the City of Boston.
While there, Mayor Walsh and City Councilor Tim McCarthy saw the great progress in the growing manufacturing sector while touring the production facility at Incredible Foods.
A
A
Coming
around
today,
gonna
been
exciting
to
see
what's
happening
here
in
high
fire,
but
also
was
happening
in
the
city.
I
want
to
thank
John
Barros
and
his
team
Alberto
and
crystal
from
our
office
of
economic
development.
We
didn't
have
an
office
of
economic
development,
City
boss
names
for
2014.
We
had
different
city
departments
that
did
some
economic
development
in
different
areas.
A
In
the
2014
we
created
the
cabinet
of
economic
development,
which
john
is
the
first
chief
of
that
cabinet,
and
we
started
to
fill
out
really
thinking
about
the
city
and
how
do
we
sustain
the
city
moving
forward
and
making
sure
you
diversify?
The
businesses
that
we
have
in
the
city
boss
has
always
had
that,
but
we've
done
well
without
having
that
office,
and
in
this
year
what
we
did
was
with
small
businesses.
A
We
had
small
business
in
three
different
area:
muted
department,
name
development
we
had
in
the
office
of
small
business,
and
we
had
the
VRA
formed,
if
only
known
as
the
VRA,
and
we
put
that
in
the
John
shop
as
well,
because
really
thinking
about
how
do
we
grow
a
city
making
sure
that
that
we
have?
We
have
the
right
people
in
place,
the
right
business
models
and
places
move
businesses
forward
in
2014
to
a
couple
notes:
the
2014
Vienna,
but
roughly
nearly
8,000
manufacturing
jobs
in
the
city
of
Boston.
A
It's
about
1.1
percent
of
the
city,
payroll
or
two
percent
of
the
high-tech
jobs,
but
that's
been
Braille
relatively
flat
and
something
that
we
have
to
do
more
of
is
how
do
we
attract
some
warming
in
factory
jobs
for
our
city?
I'm.
Sorry
happy
to
walk
around
five
saying
that
you
know
50
years
ago,
when
Parker's
was
one
of
those
areas
that
almost
a
lot
of
major
companies
were
here.
A
lot
of
people
were
employed
and
there's
no
reason
why
we
can't
have
that
same
same
same
thing
happening
today
in
2016,
except
the
business
models.
A
A
Do
you
like
working
here
and
they
loved
it
because
it
was?
It
was
a
skill
that
they
weren't
able
to
express
himself
ever
before
and
now
they're
making
money
right.
They
were
very
familiar
weather,
but
also
proud
of
the
work,
and
it
was
opportunities
for
growth
reason
why
I
say
that
is
there's
no
reason.
Why
Boston
we
don't.
We
don't
do
better
when
it
comes
to
manufacturing
and
we're
going
to
do
it
when
we
can
to
make
sure
that
we
lay
down
the
foundation
the
groundwork
to
bring
more
companies
in
our
city.
A
We
have
great
companies
in
this
room
alone.
We
have
some
great
startup
companies
and
companies
have
been
around
for
a
long
time.
The
Dorchester
Brewing
Company
is
one
of
those
companies
that
opened
our
facility
on
mass
ave
in
Dorchester.
We
have
see
em
out
here
as
well,
cmn,
another
local
company
in
Jamaica,
Plain
and
all
of
the
businesses
here.
So
we
have
a
real
opportunity
here
in
the
city
to
really
take
manufacturing
and
grow
grow.
The
business
committee
bigger
I'm
here
to
announce
manufacturing
month
the
month
of
october,
but.
A
C
C
As
I
said
to
the
mayor,
we
were
walking
in
this
used
to
be
gold
seal
proper
when
I
was
growing
up,
so
I
bought
many
many
sneakers
here
so
I
know
all
about
the
industry
that
went
here,
but
I
want
to
congratulate
mayor
Walsh
because
he
did
create
an
entire
office.
That
does
nothing
but
focus
on
you
and
he
put
a
wonderful
person
in
charge
and
draw
on
barrows
and
picked
very
well.
So
John
does
a
phenomenal
job
and
you
know
when
you
walk
into
a
business
like
we
did
earlier.
C
You
hear
you
know
your
restrictions
were
tough,
but
I've
never
seen
a
process
move
so
fast.
You
know
that's
what
this
is
his
opening
business
as
quickly
as
possible,
knocking
down
the
barricades
that
slow
people
down
because
John
Mayer
self.
We
have
a
very
good
idea
about
how
long
that
you
can
stay
down
before
you
open
a
business,
and
we
know
that
window
is
short
in
chief
barrels
as
made
a
commitment
to
make
sure
that
that
window
from
when
you.
C
A
One
more
thing
before
both
questions
am
we're
doing
a
match:
the
planning
right
now,
the
city
of
Boston
magic
box
of
20
30,
we're
looking
at
different
pieces
of
our
city
and
when
the
plan,
as
the
plan
comes
out,
you
need
to
get.
You
should
be
tied
into
the
city
for
it
because
we
have
a
large
part
of
our
plan
is
about
how
to
live
a
lot
of
manufacturing
industry
in
the
future
of
the
city
of
us.
So
really
focus
on
pro-thaksin
in
your
car
train
is
a
big
piece
of
that.
E
Our
company,
that
the
information
is
their
office,
that
you
go
to
find
out
what
about
tax
credits?
What
up
training
subsidies
was
those
kind
of
things.
That's
that's
something
from
the
start.
When
you
go
from
20
people,
50
people,
almost
overnight
lots
of
duty
visit,
you
know
that
doesn't
come
pop
of
mine
and
put
Carey
says
what
might
be
available
resources
for
yet.
D
So
I
appreciate
the
question
and
standing
right
behind
you
to
general
some
information
on
the
Workforce
Development
Fund,
perfect
setup
he's
got
a
piece
of
paper
with
how
you
can
apply
for
Workforce
Development.
That
goes
for
everybody
here
in
the
room.
I
know
you
know,
Alberto
in
our
office,
remember
together
an
office
for
for
it
to
be
a
one-stop
shop
right
for
you
to
go
away
and
ask
you
question:
look
I,
not
just
some
folks
in
here
who
I
know
some
folks
in
here
who
are
buying
property
and
looking
to
do
some
investments.
D
Let's
sit
down.
Let's
talk
about
what's
available,
they're
talking
about
the
incentives
of
the
mayor
has
a
place.
Let's
talk
about
funds
that
we
have
in
place
for
Workforce
Development
for
investment
property
investment
equipment.
The
city
has
some
tools
available.
We've
got
a
fabless
relationship
with
the
state,
so
there's
some
other
tools
available,
we'd
like
to
be
the
people
that
helped
coordinate
for
you.
F
C
So
the
developments
you
talking
about
there
are
a
couple
developments
that
are
looking
was
the
development
that's
on
Sprague
tree
here
that
they're
kicking
around
there's
one
by
the
bridge,
where
the
gentleman
already
bought
that
land
by
the
bridge
adding
pok
villains.
The
problem
that
we
have
is,
as
you
come
down
onto
valley,
parkway,
that's
a
state
road.
Then
you
come
underneath
the
bridge
you
get
onto
high
paw
calf.
That
then
becomes
the
city
road.
Then
you
take
the
left
over
the
bridge
and
the
bridge
is
a
state
road.
C
Then
you
come
back
over
if
you
go
right.
If
you
go
left
here
in
the
city,
if
you
go
write
your
back
in
the
state,
so
it's
communication
between
v,
TD
and
mass
dot
that
needs
to
take
happen.
Walcott's,
where
my
opinion
we've
actually
met,
I
have
a
meeting
right
after
this
computer
american
called
city
of
collisions
cities
talking
about
this
in
all
of
the
packages
that
any
of
the
developers
have
come
to
sit
down
as
I've
told
them
point
blank.
You
know
a
mitigation
package
regarding
traffic
traffic
study
has
to
be
done.
C
Wolcott
square
those
lights,
Walker
square,
probably
will
put
in
in
1963
the
two
buses
that
line
up
next
to
Jerry
early
park.
If
you're
familiar
with
the
passive
hawk
to
your
right
as
you
go,
underneath
the
bridge
to
get
out,
they
taking
a
leaky
turn
across
two
lanes
of
traffic
generally
blocking
the
box
from
anybody
coming
the
other
way,
traffics
now
blocked
up
blocked
all
the
way
down
to
I
way
at
times
most
people
on
dodging
square.
C
So
when
I
talked
to
the
business
owners
like
Richie
at
Richie's,
marginal
kaffir,
a
cap
at
Kathleen's
bit
concerned
that
people
are
coming
to
the
area
because
they're
dodging
you
and
that's
a
problem
for
us,
so
we
have
taken
a
look
at
when
the
bridge
was
rebuilt.
10
years
ago.
We
did
ask
the
state
to
run
lines
underneath
it,
so
the
infrastructure
is
there
to
light
the
bridge,
both
sides
of
the
bridge.
A
A
bigger
way,
I
mean
across
the
city
of
Boston,
there's
a
lot
of
concern
about
traffic,
more
copper,
monkey
mobile,
more
businesses-
that's
you
know
so
we're
working
on
imaginable
robaxin
20
30,
which
is
a
master
plan
of
transportation
to
see
a
limo
transportation
along
some
of
the
developments
are
going
to
be
happening
and
what
people
don't
want
them,
because
it's
going
to
bring
additional
traffic
I
would
argue
that
sometimes
bringing
additional
people
brings
more
people
for
businesses.
So
it's
kind
of
a
catch-22.
A
So
we
are
looking
at
traffic
in
the
entire
city,
but
this
particular
spot.
There
isn't
challenges
with
the
city
and
state
and
jurisdictional
lines,
and
things
like
that.
We're
also
holding
our
own
transportation
internally
to
see.
Eventually,
we
will
be
upgrading
on
technology
in
our
system.
So
the
ways
the
average
is
bringing
traffic
into
the
neighborhood.
We
use
in
that
app
as
well
to
mitigate
traffic
solutions,
so
we
did
it
over
sea
port
on
the
waterfront.
So
we
have
to
continue
to
work
at
that
and
then
we
advise
bicyclists
and
pedestrians
and
cars.
A
G
C
C
Will
try
to
send
guys
up
with
snow
blowers
to
get
this
done,
because
we
can't
have
the
intro
your
your
people
walking
in
the
street.
You
call
me
and
I
say:
well,
it's
not
our
fault,
because
it's
the
stage,
that's
not
the
answer.
You're
looking
for
not
as
a
business
owner
or
person
who
lives
here,
so
we
try
to
get
to
them.
I
think
that
this
year,
these
last
couple
years,
we
have
a
much
better
relationship
with
the
state
house,
with
massdot
and
they've
been
sending
their
people
out
a
little
bit
better.
C
I
know
during
118
inch
snow
storm.
It
was
what
it
was
I
mean.
It
was
just
no
way,
I
mean
every
big
eyes
were
exhausted
and
shoveling
snow.
It
was.
It
was
a
long
long
winter,
but
we'll
keep
an
eye
on
that.
Certainly
take
my
number
and
then
the
ultimate
number
is
311.
The
mayor
is
put
into
311
system.
If
you
dial
30
on
it,
goes
directly
to
the
mayor's
office
and
it
literally
it's
a
clearinghouse
for
every
age
pains
involved.
C
F
A
A
Now
because
I
support
somebody
can
raise
a
family
in
eleven
dollars
an
hour
and
in
seattle,
washington,
when,
when
Seattle
was
raised,
the
minimum
wage
in
the
city
to
$15
our
companies
like
we're
going
to
leave
when
I
move
out
was
at
the
end
of
the
world,
and
what
actually
happened
was
it's
actually
gotten
more
people
coming
to
the
city
and
more
businesses
starting
up,
and
you
know,
I
think
that
that's
one
of
the
tough
things
that
we
have
here.
We
have
you
have
universal
health
care
here
in
the
Commonwealth.
A
If
you
have
I
think
it's
11
or
more
employees,
you
have
to
provide
insurance,
if
not
the
state
they
work
on
the
state.
I,
don't
know,
I,
don't
have
this
battle,
and
I
know
you
have
you
in
the
business
differently,
but
I
right
now
in
a
minimum
wage,
eleven
dollars
and
fifty
cents
an
hour
I,
don't
think
fifteen
dollars
an
hour
who's.
Anybody,
unless
you
have
a
shop
of
the
thousand
people
making
minimum
wage
I,
don't
think
it
concludes.
Anyone
from
working,
but
there
are
programs
in
place.
A
We
have
programs
in
the
city
that
you
can
tap
into.
We
have
workforce
development
money
that
you
can
tap
into.
You
know:
tax
credits
with
a
restaurant
tax
credits
out
there,
depending
on
the
situation,
there's
opportunity
for
you
to
work
and
like
the
state,
is
working
very
closely
with
the
city
on
making
sure
provided
tax
credits
and
opportunities
that
there
are
programs
through
the
dnd
and
I
think
they're
going
to
shift
over
to
John
Shaw.
Eventually,
we
have
upgraded
facilities.
A
We
have
programs
that
can
help
you
with
your
actual
space,
that
you're
building
and
there's
a
lot
of
things
that
you
can
do
to
offset
what
would
be
at
a
333
volatile
per
employee
minimum
wage
increase
right
now,
the
state
we
don't
have
the
ability
in
Boston
to
raise
them
in
a
way
to
15
miles.
Now,
because
it's
a
state
law,
the
state
is
kind
of
contemplating,
but
I,
don't
think
I'd
I
person.
I
don't
think
the
state's
going
to
get
anywhere
near
15
golf
now
in
the
next
legislative
charm.
A
I
think
it's
$11
out
goes
to
12
next
yeah
11
of
the
next
generic.
So
it's
so
it's
ten
dolls.
Now
and
again,
we
talked
about
workers
means
to
be
any
other
future
businesses.
We
need
to
pay
people
because
they
can't
afford
to
live
in
the
city.
So
part
of
your
problem,
I
think
you
tommo
getting
workers.
Is
you
don't
have
work
as
live
in
the
city
they
can't
afford
to?
A
Nobody
can
afford
to
live
in
the
city
on
ten
miles
an
hour
anywhere
in
the
city
of
austin,
the
highest
increase
in
taxes
this
year
for
real
estate
tax
with
the
tax
property
one
of
the
most
for
this
year
was
Roxbury
Massachusetts
flashes,
the
Back
Bay
and
bright
and
south
initiate.
It
was
Roxbury,
so
people
a
little
being
priced
out
of
the
city,
so
we're
becoming
a
city
of
with
where
our
workforce
is
living
in
randolph
and
in
other
places
we
got
to
get
try
and
get
and
keep
the
people
in
the
city.
F
G
F
D
We
together
an
advisory
committee
on
this,
so
you
can
advise
them
on
this.
It
has
business
as
academic
representation,
etc.
I'd
love
to
host
a
meeting
here
and
here
from
the
businesses
here
about
things
we
can
do
to
help
with
the
with
the
transformation
and
a
change
moving
moving
minimum
wage.
So
perhaps
we'll
work
with
you
and
others
and
will
host
something
here
and
have
you
guys
advise
us,
so
we
can
advise
the
Bairns
and
begin
the
diet
continue
dialogue
with
the
state
on
how
this
thing
can
happen
in.
A
Had
this
conversation
at
the
high
pot
will
Boston
right
now
is
that
there
are
not
a
lot
of
various
manufacturing.
You
know
the
cell
parts
a
lot
of
front.
We
have
some
possibilities.
There
will
release
a
vision
plan
very
shortly.
We
live
and
work
on
now
for
a
couple
years.
Looking
at
the
waterfront
new
market
area
and
there's
a
lot
of
conversation
was
going
to
happen.
That
area
out
here
and
I
some
of
these
big
warehouses
they
were
like
you
want
to
go
cause
in
the
end.
A
A
One
away
those
areas
that
bacon
for
decades
and
I
think
that
if
you
can
diversify
a
community
and
put
residential
manufacturing
in
because
people
want
to
work
near
where
they
live,
and
if
there's
an
opportunity
for
us
to
look
at
some
of
these
bigger
buildings,
we
can,
for
example,
on
Dudley
Street.
There's
a
piano
building,
I,
don't
recall.
Building
jonna
myself
have
been
trying
forever
to
try
and
try
and
go
John
forever,
because
he
was
at
a
delicious
it.
One
ish
ative
myself
since
up
in
the
man.
A
How
do
you
feel
this
big,
empty
warehouse
building
on
Dudley
on
the
family
line,
so
I
think
you
got
to
see
manufacturing
spread
throughout
the
city
won't
be
in
the
new
monetary
only
won't
be
just
in
High.
Park
will
be
spread
over
the
city,
particularly
to
the
family
that
has
come
through.
Now
you
have
a
real
ability
to
build
manufacturing
around
the
transit
station,
where
people
can
take
the
train
rather
than
story.
What
we're
using
there's
like
that
yeah.
D
B
G
H
B
C
We
held
the
hair
is
positive
here
in
a
co-sponsor
with
michelle
rule
regarding
specifically
the
different
zones,
and
the
basic
math
here
for
the
refill
station
is
that
if
you
travel
from
here
downtown,
it
costs
you
just
a
little
bit
north
of
four
thousand
dollars
a
year
to
go
to
work.
So,
if
you're
working
with
a
thirty-five,
forty
thousand
dollars
paying
ten
percent
just
to
get
to
work,
it
just
doesn't
make
sense
at
all
and
the
fact
of
the
parking
lots.
Eighty
percent
empty
all
the
time
because
they're
working
for
four
bucks
to
park
them.
C
A
Been
go
that
fights
going
on
for
a
long
time,
I
remember
when
I
the
state
representative,
when
the
Fairmont
lion
came
to
the
fort
dorchester
stations,
that's
where
the
cutoff
was.
This
is
to
fight
whether
that
would
be
a
lower
rate
of
the
six
dollar
rain
and
then
I
know
that
Robbie
prions
and
send
me
those
gosh.
Those
guys
were
fighting
for
it.
I'm
meeting
with
brian
short
sleeves
today
he's
the
new
director
of
the
MBTA.
I
want
to
talk
to
him
about
some
of
the
ideas
that
I
think
the
tea
needs
to
do.
A
They
need
ridership
and
I
think
if
they
lower
the
price
and
made
the
parking
free
to
get
more
people
taking
this
range
so,
rather
than
have
a
trained
assassin
empty
when
it
comes
out
of
out
of
high
park,
you'd
have
a
full
train
and
make
the
same
amount
of
money
just
like
the
late
nineties.
Ervice
they
weren't,
making
money
on
it,
but
over
time
or
ridership
will
bring
people
to
it
and
more
revenue,
so
I
think
they
have
to
start
thinking
long
term.
A
So
we
it's
an
important
boss
that
generates
twenty
percent
of
all
tax
revenue
for
the
Commonwealth
of
Massachusetts,
our
city,
more
than
doubles
in
the
course
of
the
day
people
coming
in
to
work
here
and
going
home
at
night,
Josh,
the
city
services
double
in
the
in
that
from
September
and
through
May
of
any
given
year.
Two
hundred
fifty
dollars
college
students
come
to
our
city,
so
we
grow
as
a
city
every
single
year
in
different
times,
and
we
need
a
system
I
wish
in
some
ways.
I
wish
we
had
more
control.
A
A
Let
me
just
say
one
last
thing:
I'm
here
to
announce
that
this
is
a
manufacturing
hunt
in
the
city
of
Boston,
so
I
know
many
of
you.
Do
it
already.
So
in
a
thank
you,
it's
really
about
highlighting
and
promoting
businesses.
If
you
have
ideas
or
if
you
have
complaints
on
a
let
us
know,
we
can't
get
better
if
we
don't
know
what
we're
doing
wrong
and
we
can't
can't
get
better.
A
If
you
have
some
great
ideas
that
we
could
learn
from
it
and
do
so,
please
use
this
resource
John's
office
is
at
you
know,
we
call
John's
office,
you
can
call
Dave
Mackay
use
the
liaison
for
high
park
right
here.
If
you
have
an
ipod
Pacific
issue,
you
called
constant
copies
office.
We
work
very
closely
together.
All
of
us
so
fill
us
in
on
stuff,
don't
let
it
linger
and
because
you
could
be
a
quick
fix,
you
might
have
something
with
a
business.
You
need
something
we
might
have
it.
