Mayor Walsh joins Governor Baker, Boston business leaders, start-ups founders and Forbes Under 30 winners at Catalant Headquarters in the Seaport District, to promote the four day event in October, comprised of motivating panels, networking, startup competitions, philanthropy, music and food festivals.

we
actually

the

of
the

person

all

us

Forbes,

want
to
express
special

governor
Baker

mayor

offices
really
did
go
above
and
beyond

make
sure

we
brought

best

Boston

the
best

Forbes

feature
them

a
private

we've
created

created
a
global
network
of
these
innovators
and
disruptors
and
also
on
our
mobile

but
where
the
franchise
really
comes

life
is
at
these
events.

events
are

summits
that
we've
host
around
the
globe
and
the
biggest
one
is
here
in
Boston.
So
this
is
very
special
for
us
and
one
of
for
us,

of
the
other
arching
goals
that
we
always
strive
for
each
year

to
have
the
summit's
shine
of
light,
make
an
impact
on
the
host
city.

we
really
try
to
integrate
into

city,
and
last
year
in
Boston,
we
had
more
than
6500
participants
at
the
conference
representing
57
different
countries
in
46
different
states.

our

are

so
it's
critically
important
that
we
do
get

to
them
and
we
wouldn't
be
able
to
pull
it

without
that

work

US

globally
in
every
sector,
whether
they're
consumer,
industrial
financials
technology,
and
what
we
hear
from
them

Millennial
group
is
of
critical
importance,
selling
to
them,
employing
them
managing

and
getting
them
to
believe

their
brands,
and
so
an
event
like
this
is
hugely
strategic
for
us
because
it
matters
to
our
customer
base

the

experts
on
our

many

whom
are
very
excited

when
we
had
the
chance
to
get
involved
with
Forbes.

were
thrilled

York
and

San
Francisco,
who
wanted
us

leave
and
move

think
about
moving
either
in
those
places
for
one
second,
because
not
out
of
any
misguided
sense
of
loyalty
to
Boston
and
not
for
any
kind
of
emotional
reason,
but
because
we
truly
felt
this
was
the
best
place
to
build
a
great
company.
And
it's
been
so
meaningful
to
us
to
do
that
with
the
community.

massive

of

but
it

happy

Catalans

the
Seaport.

to
get

digit

start-up

issue

years

New
York,
because
the
infrastructure
was
not
here

start
up
infrastructure.
Wasn't
here
and
the

couldn't.
There's
all
this
amazing
talent
coming

Boston's
unparalleled
College
graduating
classes,
but
we
couldn't
keep
the
talent
here.
There
wasn't
enough
and
what?

everything
we
do
is
predicated
on
that
idea,

so
we
are,
we
are
thrilled

be
back

to

some
of
what
we're
doing
to
make
what
was
a
great
event

great

really
makes

event
great

we

was
maybe

little

of
the
other
startups
out

Some
ways
to
get
some
doors
open
that
we
wouldn't
have
otherwise
had
open.
It
really
opened
up
an
amazing
network
of
support
to
us,

addition
to
the
network
of
support
in
Boston
that
we
are
already
relying
on
the
other
big
thing
that
stood
out
to
me
was
last
year's
under-30
summit.
You
know
when
you're
working
in
the
sort
of
startup
ecosystem,
it's
really
easy
to
be
very
isolated
and
just
sort
of
exposed
to
other
people
who
are
just
like
you
and
going
through
the
same
stuff
that
you're
going
through
and
building
a
start-up
I.
I
Think
the
really
amazing
thing
about
the
summit
was
just
the
variety
of
people
that
I
met
that
we're
working
on
things.
That
I
knew
absolutely
nothing
about
and
doing
amazing
things
in
those
fields.
It
really
opened
my
eyes
up
to
just
a
range
of
people
that
we've
never
otherwise
been
introduced
to
and
I've
stayed
in
contact
with.
Some
of
them.
I

we
really
think
again:
entrepreneurship
doesn't
mean
just
for
profit,
entrepreneurship
anymore.
It's
really
about
solving
problems
and
making
a
little
better
place
until
you
see
that
the
real
thread
through
our
programming
you're
doing

epitomizes.
That
and
Marie
we'd
love

hear
your
thoughts

medical
interpreters,

legally
protected
civil
rights
hospitals

provide
interpreters
to
all
patients
who
don't
speak,
English
well
enough,
but
there's
a
problem
with
the
talent
pipeline,
and
this

where
we
come
in.
We
take
these
to
social
problems
and
bring
them
together
so
that
they
could
solve
each
other.
And
for
me
you
know
this
work
is
very
close
to
my
heart:

a
social
worker
I'm,
a
woman
I'm,
an
immigrant
I'm,
formerly
homeless,
animal
Forbes
30
under
30
social
entrepreneur.

Being
part
of
this
community
is
a
is
a
big
honor
and
being
part
of
that
amazing
event.
The
summit
was
really
exciting,
but
it
was
also
a
reminder
of
one.
How
far
has
come
and
two
how
rare
my
story
is.
This
is
a
very
rare
exception
and
not
the
rule
and
part
of
my
work
is
to
take
my
story
and
how
I've
been
able
to
experience
so
much
socio-economic
mobility
through
my
career
and
help
other
people.

not
just
the
honor
of
being
part
of
this
community.
It's
not
just
the
excitement,
but
also
the
opportunity
of
partnering.
You
know
one
thing,
that's
different
about
social
enterprise.
Is
that
often
we
try
to
serve
people

can't
afford

pay
for
it
and
that's
tougher
and
often
you
end
up
seeing
a
lot
of
innovation,
not
just
on
the
product
manager
from
the
service,
but
also
in
the
in
the
funding
model
and
a
lot
of
these
funds
funding
models.

reason

think

want

part
of
this
event
is
because

have

how

researching
Boston
charities
to
tie
into
that
event,

we
always
open
that
up
to
Boston
citizens,
who've
done
good
for
Boston
and
for
Commonwealth.

really
is
meant
to
be
an
inclusive
event,
we're
going
to
return
the
tech
capital
impact
and
create
stages.
They
all
worked
really
well.

are
talking
about
doing
an
entire
block
party
on
Lansdowne.

even
met

with
the
idea.
Maybe
we
could
even
go
in
Fenway
Park
a
little
bit
as
part
of
the
bar
code
that
really
shows
off
Boston,
obviously,
as
well
as
anything
possibly
can
we

two
food
festivals
wanted

national
chefs.

taste
of
Boston
showcase
local
chefs
the
ideas
hubs,
pairing
the
season
startups

service
day.

idea
we're
gonna
leave
Boston
better.

founded
those
were
all

did
all
that

year,

that
all
this
year.

what's
new,
that's

First
of
all,
more
stages
is

add
the
discover

This

the
life
sciences
capital,
the
world.
So
why
don't?

have
an
entire
stage
devoted

the
life
sciences
and
we're
very
proud
to
have
vertex
out
of
the
gate
as
our
partner
on
that
we're

stage
for
financial
advisors.

have
a
large,

have

large
interest

a

We
have
a
lot
of
clout
in
that
area.
So
now,
why
not
bring
all
the
world's
top
young
financial
advisors
we're
going

make
this
a
walking
summit?
Because
people
love
last
year
going

Harvard
Business
School?
They
love
going

Northeastern,
but
they
complain
to
this.

you

to
choose
between
kind
of
networking
in
the
village
or
going
to
content
for
our
fluence,
we're

make
every
every
single
venue
five
or
ten
minutes,
walk
or

and
we're
going
to
cut
down

little

programming
each

each
at
each
stage.
So
there's
more
time
to
spend
time
in
the
village
networking.

that's

first

something
we're
very
excited
about.

mystery

the
problem.

all
know

what
can
this
event
do

help
solve
that

women
from
the

under
30
list
and
on
Sunday
have
going
to
have
summit

women

accelerating
women
in
the
ranks

tech
leadership

we're

to
do
it
at

greatest
tech
university
in
the
world.
So
we're
super
excited
about
that
under
30
scholars.

gave
scholarships
to
the
top
young
seniors
in
part,
because
that's
because
all
the
Boston
companies
international
companies,
one-stop-shop
for
amazing
talent,
to
come
together,
it's
a
great
place
to
recruit

year,

going
to
focus
a
little
bit
and
what
we're
going
to
do,
because
what
we
heard
from
our
partners
is
that
they
are
ready,
touring
the
top
universities
and
finding
and
finding
the
top
talent.
But
what?

conversations

clear

our
participants
wanted
to
talk

each
other
more
and
share
interests,
and
while
these
stages
and
specific
areas
were
great
and
bring
out
the
big
talent,

specific
areas?

so
what
we're
going
to
do
is
curate
in
the
in
City
Hall
and
City,
Hall
applause
and
under
30
village,
hundreds
of
curated
talks
from
thirty
or
thirty
and
thirty
honorees
you
could.
You
could
see
maria
curating
a
talk
you
know
about
about.

know
her
programming
about
how
to
help
people.
You
know
who
you
know
in
hospital,
so
you
can
see
and
you
could
take
any
thirty
under
thirty
honoree.
Let
them
drill
on
the
area
they
know
best
and
have
small
ten
twenty
people
talking
for
an
hour.
So
in
some
ways
you
could
have
an
entire
summit
just
having
small
conversations
and
that's
something
again.

heard
that
people
wanted
it's
going
to
be
taking
place
in
the
Biergarten,
so
that
might
you
know,
help
foster
some
conversation,
we're
going
to
have
an
artist
we're
going
to
have
a
national
artists
program
and
again
it's
not
just
about
tech.
It's
not
just
about.
You
know
it's
about
bringing
the
top
talent
from
every
field,
and
so
we've
already
secured
the
funding
to
have
a
national
artists
competition
while
have
a
gallery
in
under
thirty
Hall
in
under
thirty
village
and
we'll
have
finals
on
the
Krait
stage.
That's
very
exciting
and
that's
it.

are

ideas,

based
on

folks

mean
we
got
the
feedback

the

how
do
we
make
it

which
we
think
it
is
the
best
event
for
young
entrepreneurs

game
changes
in
the
world?

how
do
we
make
it
something
that
takes
it
one
level
up?

that's
what
we're
trying
to
do
so,
what's
that
I
want
to
turn
it
over
there's,
you
know.
A
large
reason.
We're
here,
as
Mike
stated,
is
because
I
won't
name
names.
But
when
you
look
out
at
the
you
know,
what's
going
on
in
the
world
today
and
you
look
at
government
and
there
are
a
lot
of
people
in
this
country
who
don't
think
that
government's
working
right
now,
I
can
say
and
I
could
testify.

So
it's
all
been
said,
it
just
hasn't
been
said
by
everybody.
I'll
just
add
a
couple
of
a
couple
of
observations
here.
One
is
having
spent
most
of
my
professional
career
here
in
Boston
and
in
Massachusetts
I
had
a
front
row
seat
in
the
evolution
of
the
Commonwealth
and
the
evolution
of
the
city
of
Boston
over
the
course
of
the
last
20
30
40
years
and
I.
K
Think
one
of
the
things
you
can't
say
enough
often
enough
is
the
at
some
point
all
those
ideas
who
were
being
generated
in
all
those
colleges
and
universities,
which
were
ideas,
suddenly
became
product
ideas
and
then
became
small
businesses
and
then
became
sustainable
operations
and
then
became
game
changers
and
world
changers,
and
it
didn't
happen
overnight.
It
happened
over
a
fairly
long
period
of
time
and
I
was
talking
to
somebody
who's,
a
u.s.
senator
now
who
went
to
MIT.
At
the
same
time,
I
was
going
to
Harvard
in
the
1970s.

Oh,
we
both
talked
about
what
Central
Square
in
Kendall
Square
looked
like
back
then,
and
well.
Let's
just
say
it
was
different
and
and
I
have
a
lot
of
friends
who
who
used
to
Park
in
the
Seaport
District
and
walk
over
the
bridge
to
go
to
work
and
they
parked
here,
because
it
was
proximate
to
the
rest
of
the
city.
And
there
was
nothing
here
except
parking.
Lots
for
the
most
part
and
the
third
harbor
tunnel.

The
cleanup
of
Boston
Harbor,
the
depression
of
the
central
artery
creation
of
the
Ted
tunnel
and
the
in
the
O'neill
tunnel.
And
this
sudden
moment
of
entrepreneurialism
across
the
river.
In
Cambridge.
You
put
all
those
things
together
and-
and
it
really
took
what
was
once
just
a
great
collection
of
colleges
and
universities
and
a
very
historic
City
and
its
two
historic
cities
and
suddenly
turned
it
into
an
engine
event
and
change.
And
you
throw
on
top
of
that.

The
development
of
a
very
robust
financial
community,
which
eventually
led
to
a
robust
collection
of
investors,
eventually
led
to
a
robust
collection
of
folks
who
are
looking
to
invest
in
startups
and
young
people
and
new
businesses.
And
you
put
that
whole
mix
together.
And
it
translates
into
a
very
different
Commonwealth
and
a
very
different
community
here
that
we
had
20
30
40
years
ago
and
I
remember
when
David
first
I,
don't
think
you
texted
me
at
2:00
in
the
morning
I
think
I
got
it.

think
I
got
it
the
following
morning,
but
in
any
event,
he
definitely
you
know.
Success
always
has
a
thousand
fathers,
but
there's
dad
unformed
under
30
in
Boston,
right
there,
but
I,
remember
saying
to
Dave
at
the
time.
You
know
I
think
a
lot
of
the
people
who
are
probably
in
their
30s
or
40s
or
20s,
don't
really
know
much
about
the
New
Boston
or
the
new
Massachusetts
and
probably
have
a
sense
about
it.
It's
a
little
dated
and
if
we
can
get
folks
to
come
here,
a
Forbes
is
interested
in
doing
this.

It's
pretty
cool
and
I.
Think
for
all
of
us.
It
creates
great
opportunity
and
Forbes
under
30
your
decision
to
bring
that
here
and
our
opportunity
to
use
it
as
a
way
to
show
off
not
just
the
historic
part
of
Boston
and
Commonwealth
amass,
but
where
we
believe
the
future
is
and
how
we're
going

play
a
bit
rolling.

just

great
marriage

I
think
the
fact
that
so
many
people
showed
up
for

mayor
and

the
mayor

and

put
the
both
of
you
on
a
bike-
and
that
was
terrific
and

it's
very
apropos
of
how
this
all
came
together.

in
the
country
could
pull
together
two
of
the
great
leaders
together
at
once
and
say:
let's
just
go,
get
it
done.
