From YouTube: Small Business Saturday Holiday Celebration
Description
In Roslindale Village, Mayor Marty Walsh kicks off the holiday season at the 33rd Annual Holiday Tree-lighting & Small Business Saturday. Roslindale Village Main Streets hosts this longstanding neighborhood tradition and encourages everyone to be merry and "shop small."
A
My
name
is
Glenn
Williams,
and
this
is
Kelly
Ransom
folks,
we
are
from
the
from
the
BNN
TV.
It's
all
about
arts
television
show,
but
we're
also
Roslindale
people.
We
have
been
for
many
years
and
you
have
been
very
fortunate
to
be
listening
to
the
Christopher
mish
quartet
they'll
be
playing
throughout
the
day,
hi
guys.
Thank
you
very
much
for
being
here
today.
B
A
Also
got
Sacred,
Heart
is
well-represented.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
Sacred
Heart
is
celebrating
100
years
of
educating
children
here
at
say
cat
in
Rosendale,
and
we
are
very,
very
proud
of
that.
I
see
some
parents
out
there,
some
X
students
very
exciting,
but
the
band
and
the
Sacred
Heart
choir
are
here
that
which
you'll
be
performing
later
on
in
a
minute
or
two
I'm
gonna
ask
one
senior
Kelly
to
come
up
and
say
hello
to
everybody.
But
what
else
we
have.
A
A
A
Very
popular
back
I
will
I
do
want
to
take
the
second
to
let
everybody
know
that
this
is
brought
to
you
by
rosin,
ville
village
main
streets.
Now
the
rosin
Dale
village
main
streets
is
that
volunteer-driven
organization
that
helped
revitalize
rosin
Dale
Square
anybody
out
here
has
been
familiar
with
rosin
del
square
for
over
20
years.
Raise
your
hand
if
you've
been
in
Rossy
square
for
over
20
years
or
25
years.
A
Then
you
you
and
you
know
what
rosin
Dale
village
main
streets
is
done
for
rosin
dill
square
they've
revitalized,
this
business
district,
if
I
had
told
you
15
years
ago
that
there'd
be
people
standing
in
line
at
three
or
four
restaurants
here,
waiting
to
get
in
on
a
Thursday
night,
you
told
me
I
was
out
of
my
mind.
Don't
you
think.
B
A
I
want
you
yeah,
well,
I'm
gonna,
give
you
just
a
couple
of
seconds
on
what
they
do.
They
work
with
the
property
owners
to
get
demographic
information
to
know
more
about
you,
so
that
they
know
what
kind
of
businesses
to
put
inside
in
the
in
the
bit
empty
businesses.
Then
they
have
a
promotions
committee,
write
marketing
and
promotions,
and
what
are
those
guys?
We.
E
A
You
down-
and
we
are
so
fortunate
and
blessed
this
year-
to
have
an
executive
director
who
is
not
only
talented
and
mindful
of
all
the
things
that
need
to
happen
and
fabulous
and
fabulous,
but
she
loves
Rosendale
and
she
treats
it
like
her
own.
She
even
brings
her
own
her
own
daughter
down
here
to
play
Leah
Leah
forest,
put
your
hands
together
for
the
executive
director
of
Rosendale
village,
Main,
Street,
I'm,.
F
Sure
than
everybody
hi,
everybody
welcome
to
the
33rd
annual
tree
lighting
event
in
Roslindale
village.
How
many
of
you
have
been
around
for
33
years
sweet?
Is
this
the
sunniest
stay
out
of
all
33
tree
lighting,
even
Roz.
Do
probably
so.
Not
only
is
it
our
tree
lighting,
but
it
is
Small
Business
Saturday,
which
means
today's
the
day
that
you
shop
locally
and
support
your
local
economy
so
be
sure
to
shop
at
all.
The
retailers
today
and
every
day
every
day
is
really
Small.
F
Business
Saturday
around
here
before

and
the
Sacred
Heart
chorus,
and
the

I
need
to
thank
a
lot
of
people
that
made
today
possible.
I
want
to
thank
Kelsey
Evans,
our

She
is

near
our

your
free
shop

bag
over
there,
Tom
Donohue
and
Silvana
Ragusa
Silvana
also
has
antler
ears,
so
she's
right
over
there
and
Tom
Donohue.
F
F
He's
amazing
Kelly
ransom,
also
co
emceeing.
The
event

want
to
thank
all
the
our
VMs

Members
raise
your
hand
if
you're
an
our
VMs
board
member
they're,
all
back
there,
giving
out
Donuts
and
shop
small
bags
and
volunteering
all
day.
Also
all
the
committee
members
are
here
today
from
the
marketing
committee,
especially
to
help
out,
want
to
thank
American
Express
for
a
Small
Business
Saturday
swag
bags,
promotional
materials
that
you're
seeing
around
the
Kristopher
mich
quartet,
which
is
awesome,
Sacred,
Heart
School.
F
As
Glenn
said
a
hundred
years
this
year,
amazing,
making
Music
Matters
akkad
ants
dunkin
donuts
for
the
munchkins

for
the
hot
cocoa,
RC

Today
they

If
you
haven't
noticed,
I
want
to
thank
the

F
A
G
G
You
Glenn.
Thank
you
very
much
very
glad
to
be
here,
as
he
said,
I'm
just
thinking,
15
years.
Oh
here
we
were
cold
and
dark.
Thank
you
for
everybody.
Coming
out.
This
is
wonderful,
just
a
great
way
to
kick
off
the
season
for
all
of
us
and
just
want
to
wish
you
all
a
very
happy,
Thanksgiving
and
blessed
days
for
everybody
and
I
hope
our
kids

been
practicing

the
guy
that
makes
them
sing
see.
Thank
you
very
much
Glenn
for
all
you're
doing.
Thank
you.
B
A
D
Hi,
kids
thanks.
Thank
you
for
joining
us
all
here
today.
The
annual
rain
dog
contest
has
been
a
really
lovely
and
fun
contest
for
the
past
jeez.
How
many
years
have
we
been
doing
yeah?
So
thank
you
all
and
have
the
dog
sign
up,
yep
don't
sign
up
here.
Can
we
have
our
contestants
please
line
up
here
to
the
all.
A
D
Competition
is
fierce
this
year,
fierce
okay
Marcy's,
a
shih
tzu
Marcy's
wearing,
although
she's
not
wearing
her
reindeer
helmet
right
now,
she's
she's
carrying
her
carrot,
she
is
work,
said
Marcy's
modeling,
nicely
done
ma,
she's
a
rescue
dog.
Is
that
right?
Yes,
she
is.
The
lovely
people
have
given
her
a
nice
home
here
forever
home
in
Roslindale.
Okay,
this
is
a
lovely
all
Sola
present
Oh
Warren
very
nicely
very
nicely
stylish
Lee
quietly
beautifully
nice.
D
C
A
C
A
C
C
E
Hi
everybody.
How
are
you
I'm
here
with
I'm
here
with
blaze,
say
hi,
please,
Hey
how's
everybody
doing
today
what
a
beautiful
day
55
degrees.
This
is
not
bad.
It's
not
bad
at
all,
very
happy
to
be
here
at
the
Christmas
tree
lighting.
Today
we
have
some
very
special
people
here:
I'm
gonna
try
to
get
everybody.
We
have
a
city
council,
president
Michelle,
who
is
here
rosanell
zone.
What
up
in
City
Council
eight
lines
in
each
the
sabe
Georgia's
here
the
Register
of
Deeds
Steve
Murphy's.
E
See
it
there
is
here
and
I
think
this
guy's
here
too
so
I've
been
a
proud
member
of
the
rosin,
a
village
main
streets
for
a
long
long
time.
Actually,
since
1993,
when
I
started
working
for
mayor
Raymond
Flynn,
so
nobody
knows
this
place
as
much
as
I
do
well.
Actually,
everybody
knows
this
place
as
much
as
I
do,
but
it's
a
wonderful
place
and
I
think
I
have
to
echo
what
Glenn
said
earlier.
When
you
look
at
Raza
Neil's
Center
and
you
look
at
Raza,
Neil
village,
you
know,
restaurants
are
opening.
People
are
here.
E
People
are
involved
people
care
about
this
neighborhood
so
much.
It
is
such
a
wonderful
place
to
live
and
work
in
place
so
I'm
very
happy
to
represent
you
I'll,
be
representing
for
the
next
two
years.
That
was
my
Christmas
present.
Thank
you
very
much
and
without
further
ado
I'm
going
to
introduce
the
guy,
and
it
was
a
Christmas
present
for
me
too,
to
work
with
this
guy
every
single
day.
Here's
a
guy
who
cares
about
Southwest
Boston,
not
you!
E
Here's
a
guy
who
cares
about
Southwest
Boston,
cares
about
Roz
and
Al
and
is
pushing
this
agenda
forward.
Boston
really
is
the
greatest
place
in
the
planet
to
live,
I
believe
and
I
hope.
You
all
believe
that
to
will
continue
to
work
together
without
further
ado.
The
Mayor
of
the
City
of
Boston
mayor
Marty,
Walsh.
E
B
H
You
go.
Thank
you
very
much.
It's
great
to
be
here
today.
I
want
to
thank
everyone
for
coming
out
this
fight.
Fire
is
always
the
biggest
tree
lighting
in
the
city
of
Boston
and
a
setting
that
it's
here
today.
So
thank
you
and
the
weather's
beautiful
I
want
to
first
of
all
how
about
a
nice
round
of
applause
for
the
performers.
They
were
incredible.
H
I
want
to
thank
them
all
and
I
want
to
just
take
a
minute
to
thank
the
elected
officials
were
already
mentioned,
but
I
want
to
take
them
all
for
the
great
work
they
do.
I
want
to
congratulate
them
as
well.
I
want
to
congratulate
Councilwoman
councilor
George
for
being
reelected
council
McCarthy
being
wrecked,
re-elected
council
angel
Scott
should
not
yeah,
but
next
year
we
and
really
like
to
thank
you
as
well,
for
your
your
support
and
see
Murphy
and
and
all
the
people
that
are
here
today.
H
I
want
to
thank
Glenn
Williams,
who
does
an
incredible
job.
Thank
You
Glenn.
We,
let's
clap
for
gladden
I,
want
to
thank
Tom,
Donohue
Dennis
Kirkpatrick
I
want
to
thank
alia,
forest
as
well.
The
director
of
Main
streets
I,
want
to
thank
all
the
small
businesses
that
are
here
today
in
this
great
neighborhood.
The
great
work
you
do.
Thank
you
very
much,
Rosendale,
Main
streets
and
today
is
is
Small,
Business
Saturday
and
it's
a
it's
a
great
great
way
to
start
the
holiday
season.
H
I
was
watching
something
on
the
news
today
they
were
talking
about
was
last
week.
Was
this
Friday
the
last
Black
Friday
in
the
country,
and
we're
not
sure,
but
we
want
to
do,
is
make
sure,
as
you
shop
in
the
holiday
for
the
holiday
spirits
and
gifts,
you're
gonna,
be
buying,
make
sure
you
shop
in
the
local
districts,
make
sure
you
buy
in
your
local
stores
the
stores.
Here
they
donate
to
our
little
leagues.
They
donate
to
our
shockers.
H
They
donate
some
Main
streets,
they
donate
to
everything
we
ask
them
to
do
and
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we
support
them
during
this
holiday
season.
They
make
most
of
their
money
during
this
time
of
year.
So
we're
asking
you
please
go
out
and
support
them
and
I
have
a
couple
in
a
couple
things
that
I
need
to
introduce.
First
is
we're
introducing
a
shuttle,
that's
going
to
connect
three
main
street
districts
this
year,
the
main
street
districts
of
Rosendale,
Village,
High
Park
in
Roslindale
and
West
Roxbury.
H
Excuse
me
we're
gonna
use
the
main
streets.
Explorer
is
going
to
use
the
connections
as
Thursdays
in
December.
This
is
a
pilot
program.
We're
gonna
see
if
it
works.
We
get
people
into
these
different
areas.
Shopping
second
will
work.
The
bus
and
Main
Street
foundation
is
rolling
out
a
brand
new
website.
That's
gonna
be
easy
to
use
and
find
out
the
different
things
you
can
buy
in
the
different
store,
so
we
have.
H
And
thirdly,
let
Linda
announce,
let's
all
shop,
small
campaign
that
we're
gonna
include
our
twenty
districts
around
the
city
of
Boston,
asking
people
to
buy
and
I
have
a
proclamation
I'm,
not
gonna,
read
because
as
Tim
McCarthy
said,
he
introduced
me
and
everyone's
excited,
but
no
one's
excited
about
me.
They're
excited
about
Santa
Claus.
Really,
so,
let's
be
serious.
So
I
urge
all
my
fellow
Bostonians
to
celebrate
us
in
supporting
small
businesses
in
the
city
of
Boston
across
the
United
States
of
America
and
Small
Business
Saturday.
You,
god
bless,
you
happy
holidays,
everybody.
