Boston's Cape Verdean Community gathered at City Hall Plaza alongside Mayor Walsh and Consul General of Cape Verde, Herminio Moniz, for the 44th Annual celebration of Cape Verde's Independence from Portugal. The flag of Cape Verde was raised by Mayor Walsh and members of the Cape Verde Community while Shantel Teixeira sang a wonderful cover of Imagine by John Lennon.
