Description
The City of Boston's best and brightest high school basketball players converge at Northeastern University's Cabot Center, for the 2018 Girls Boston City League All-Star Game.
A
A
Hello,
everybody
welcome
to
a
fun
and
friendly
cabin
Center
at
Northeastern
University
for
the
girls,
2018
Boston,
City
League
all-star
game.
As
this
afternoon
here
at
the
cabin
Center,
we
got
team
Phoebe
Pham,
taking
on
team
Carla
pants
little
buddy,
I'm
pat
flattered
you're,
my
partner,
as
always
Alan
Platt
Alan.
It's
always
a
blast
here
at
the
Cabot
Center
at
Northeastern
for
the
all-star
classic.
We
just
had
a
great
boys
game.
Oh
and
now
we
got
the
girls
game
coming
up
and
in
the
past
the
girls
game
is
often.
C
The
dozen
boys
right
right-
well,
I,
guess,
like
we
said
we
mentioned
before
a
few
of
the
boys
games
like
the
last
few
years,
have
been
blowouts
this
year,
was
this
exception
great
game
right
down
to
the
end,
offense
and
defense
high
scoring
as
expected,
because
we
have
the
best
players
in
the
city,
so
this
girl's
game
should
be
similar.
Well,
I
was
looking
at
the
rosters.
They
have
balance
to
balance
them
out,
scorers
on
on
both
squads
rebounders
on
both
squads,
speed
on
both
squads
ball
handling,
so
we'll
see
how
it
figures
out.
C
We
get
some
new
coaches.
Actually,
that's
a
note
said
to
have
them
in
this
atmosphere,
see
how
they
can
work
things
out
because,
of
course,
like
we
always
say
with
all-star
games,
just
to
be
fair,
first
half
or
so
you
want
to
make
sure
all
the
girls
get
some
minutes,
regardless
of
how
the
score
is
going,
then
the
second
half
you
pretty
much
stopped
to
focus
on
okay.
How
can
we
strategize
to
win
the
game?
No.
A
C
C
You
know
the
whole
spectrum,
the
machiya
is
primarily
a
defensive
player
and
rebounder.
You
can
set
up
routine.
She
gets
a
lot
of
pushback,
never
look
for
her
offense,
decent
outside
sure,
but
mainly
she
defends.
She
has
a
lot
of
energies
all
over
the
court
and
she
likes
to
play
physical.
That's
right!
No,
even
though
she's
not
the
biggest
girl
out
there,
she'll
be
one
of
the
roughest.
The.
A
C
Been
amazing,
like
you
said
it
all,
stops
her
size
because
you
don't
see
many
girls
in
the
city
or
in
the
region
who
were
as
tall
as
she
is
fall.
62
63
and
with
the
really
long
arms,
like
you
said,
John
rise
to
the
head
coach
at
Fenway
has
done
a
really
good
job,
helping
her
develop
over
the
past
three
years.
A
C
A
E
A
little
bit
different
this
year,
the
girls
team,
the
girls
teams,
are
actually
going
second
and
the
boys
team
went
first,
so
I
got
to
talk
to
both
coaches
and
they
told
me
they
didn't
even
get
a
chance
to
speak
to
their
teams
really
before
the
game.
However,
they
said
fundamentals
are
gonna,
be
key
to
winning
this
game.
Now
coach
van
told
me
most
importantly,
she's
gonna
tell
her
girls
go
out,
there
have
fun,
but
at
the
end
of
the
day
she
wants
to
win
Pat
Allen
back
to
you.
Thanks.
A
So
much
Channing
and
that's
usually
the
case
with
a
lot
of
youth,
the
girls
or
boys
side.
We've
seen
that
very
many
times
over
the
years
as
a
Seabee
Eric
Carter
our
spotlight
player,
who
we
talked
about
her
teammate
Colby
Upchurch,
is
out
there.
We
also
got
two
latin
academy
players
out
there
as
well,
and
I
believe,
a
snowden
player
who's
out
there
for
the
coach,
Carla
hand-side.
Meanwhile,
for
the
coach
Phoebe
Pham
side,
with
the
light
jerseys
on,
you
got
a
new
mission
combination
of
Matteo
Young,
who
we
talked
about.
C
G
C
A
little
bit
of
jitters
here
in
the
first
minute
so,
but
don't
settle
in
we
talk
about
the
full
experience.
Pat
fact
is
that
all
these
players,
both
boys
and
girls,
get
a
chance
to
be
on
the
northeastern
campus,
while
everything's
who
says
he
knows
a
Saturday,
they
have
a
chance
to
talk
to
students,
students
come
look
at
the
students,
come
to
watch
something
games
and
it's
one
of
those
things
we
see
exactly
the
whole
atmosphere
of
what
college
is
all
about.
C
G
G
A
A
C
Away,
sometimes
we
achieve
depends
on
haridwar
ball
handling
as
well
as
we
bother
as
well
as
storing
it
can
be
a
lot,
but
but
she
goes
like
the
children
she's
down
on
the
ball
right
now
and
she
can
go
one-on-one.
They
have
nice
moves
to
the
basket
a
good
shot
from
the
outside
and
the
best
fly
about
her
is
on
the
sophomore
right
out.
You
hit
so
well.
You
call,
we
don't
call
this
scoop.
Scoop,
brother
and.
A
C
C
We
talk
about
yoga
but
she's
resting
player
because
I'm
young,
when
you're
like
oh
look
at
a
middle
school
player
or
even
a
freshman
in
high
school
and
you're
as
tall
as
she
is
the
ticket.
She
is.
The
expectation
is
that
you're
automatically
going
to
gravitate
the
basketball
right.
After
all,
was
it
she
was
still
throwing
his
foreign
body
on
the
floor.
Nation
wasn't
really
there,
but
to
her
credit,
we're
taught
at
it.
Her
basic
game
is
down
low
notes.
Doing,
as
you
have
a
lot
of
problems.
G
A
J
C
C
Me
wrong
early,
so
what
happens?
Is
it
sometimes
once
you
realize,
you're
gonna
have
the
ball
most
of
the
time.
Then
your
mindset
is
okay.
Let
me
make
something
happen,
whether
its
greatness,
shot
or
finding
achievement
problem
is
she's
not
used
to
with
some
of
these
girls
are
going
for
this
shots,
because
they're
gonna
get
some
tea
so
which
it
was
up
there
with
a
couple
of
a
team
based
I'd,
be
a
little
different,
green.
A

D

C
A
C
C
A
G
A
This
is
sort
of
a
it's,
a
big
collaboration
between
a
lot
of
people.
I
mean
you
see,
Avery
as
Dale
right
there.
Shakin
that
player's
hand
right
there,
but
Avery
from
the
Boston
Public
Schools,
the
an
athletic
director
heavily
involved.
Also
everybody
else
in
that
office.
You
have
the
Boston
Scholar
Athlete
Foundation,
who
has
a
lot
of
people.

Welcome
back
to
the
Cabot

Northeastern

for
the
2018

All,
City,
basketball,
classic
DeSean
Daphne
Griffin,
one
of
the
executives
for
the
Boston
scholar-athlete
foundation,
complimenting
her
staff
and
acc
everybody
going
out
to
half-court
that
works
for
the
Boston
scholar-athlete
foundation.
Who
helps
put
this
event
on
as
people
always
say.
It
takes
a
village
to
raise
dialed,
and
now
you
got
a
village
of
bosses
going.
C
Up
and
these
these
staff,
these
the
ones
we
actually
go
into
the
schools
and
do
that,
the
the
actual
ground
work
in
shrimp-like
you
met.
You
talked
about
the
zones
where
the
kids
can
I
do
extra
homework
and
get
instruction
and
get
some
tutoring,
and
that
these
these
are
the
ones
who
are
out
there
doing
it.
C
The
nice
shuttle
melakarta
always
with
that
big
smile
of
hers,
great
personality
and
that
that's
I
think
that
that's
that
goes
along
from
the
confidence
that
she's
had
over
question
season,
because
I
I
remember
her
as
a
sort
of
nervous,
freshman
shirt
and
with
John
Rice
was
no
kidding.
You
know
he
wasn't
giving
her
a
lot
of
time,
but
she
was
getting
some
minutes.
Yep,
alright,
just
to.
C
Right,
yeah,
but
clearly
now
she's
snow
with
that
size,
she's
been
able
to
like
I,
said
coordinator
self,
to
the
point
where
she
is
nice
drop
step.
Little
bit
of
a
hook,
shot
she's
always
been
a
good
rebounder,
but
now
she
she
knows
how
to
take
that
next
step
and
be
a
force
close
to
the
basket.
You.

C
P
A
C
A
C
A
C
Little
travel
that
time
are
they
that's
the
fun
part
like
I
said
that,
because
this
all-star
game
allows
underclassmen,
we
can
weaken
the
floor
to
that
season
and
notice.
Some
of
these
sophomores
and
juniors
are
definitely
not
the
key
contributors
of
the
next
season.
Right,
nama,
saya,
dejar,
didn't
quite
finish.
C
A
C
G
C
A
G
D
G
G
C
Out
there,
but
again
point
we
made
it
earlier,
I
think,
because
just
about
all
these
players
are
used
to
playing
the
majority.
The
minutes
to
be
putting
a
bolt
and
out
and
out
you
just
it's
just
not
familiar,
doesn't
feel
quite
right.
So
we're
seeing
a
lot
of
the
shots
being
off.
I
might
say
young
he's
not
usually
a
three-point
shooter
banker,
two
of
them.
So
we
have
a
three
point:
game
and
I
think
as
they
talk,
halftime
they'll
come
up
more
familiar
with
the
reporter.
A
C
A
C
E
Q
E
Q
E
A
F
C
C
Much
different
must've
caused
it.
You
know,
because
you
really
feel
obligated
like
I
said
before,
to
have
all
the
girls
get.
You
know
some
valuable
minutes.
You
know,
or
at
least
some
Apple
minutes,
so
they
feel
like
they've
had
a
chance
to
be
involved.
Somehow
can
be
tough,
so
we
saw
it
done
very
well
in
the
boys
game
that
they
were
doing
wholesale
substitutions
until
it
got
down
to
the
inch.
So
this
third
quarter
I
think
coaches,
a
look
at
the
she'll
kill,
whoever
played
much.
C
A
We
want
to
win
the
game,
no
question.
Well,
hopefully,
we
can
see
that
in
the
fourth
quarter,
as
this
game
looks
like
it's
gonna
be
a
tight
one
throughout
we're
gonna
head
to
break
folks
when
we
come
back
with
our
halftime
stats
and
our
halftime
play
or
highlight
just
after
these
words
make
sure
you
stick
around.

is
up
by
three
against

and
we
saw
on
the
first
half
the
combination
of
Fenway,
your
mission,
a
little
bit
of
Latin

and
a
little
bit
of
O'brian
really
take
over
that.

Yeah.

Offer
rebound.
That
else
is
the
spin
move
there,
but
she
also
had
two
offensive
rebounds
right
there,
she's
gonna
Bank
that
home
and
then
she's
got
another
one.
This
is
a
third
hoop
that
she
was
able
to
back
at
home.
Using
her
body
go

good

get

keep

high,
put
it

Just
that
they,
you

the
point
I
think
it
won't
be

freely
the
three-quarter

Besides
and
a
defense

just
sort
of
turn
the

around,

coach

had
a
hit
of
a

dry

they
went

maybe
about
three

swore
they
made.

the
for

were
in

and
they,
like

spread

it
was
comfortable

like
I
said
at
one
point,
it
is
a
seven

lead

has
felt
this
felt

the

even
further
ahead.

that
we
could
pick
for
player
of
the
game.
But
we
mentioned
how
many
of
the
different
Fenway
players
really
had
nice
games
and
a
lot
of
contributions
for
them
at
Colby.
Upchurch,
probably
the
most
consistent
good.
C
Floor
game
really
good
floor
game
control
things.
Always
a
good
defensive
player
likes
to
pull
a
passing
lane,
but
you're
right.
The
familiarity
of
having
for
Fenway
plays
made
it
sort
of
easier
for
her,
but
she
did
have
points
good
points,
rebounds
and
assists.
So
they
think
your
ice
is
slightly
better
to
get
the
all
standing
player.
That's
right.
A
E
AA
E
AA
E
Good
time
all
right
thanks
so
much
Kobe
enjoy
the
rest
of
your
day,
all
right
now,
coach.
Now,
when
we
talked
before
the
game,
you
were
really
hesitant
to
talk
to
me
on
camera.
So
how
are
you
feeling
right
now,
after
you
got
this
one
out
the
way?
I'm
fine,
I'm
doing
good?
Now
you
mentioned
something
that
you
wanted
to
talk
go
last.
She
want
to
be
the
last
person
to
talk
to
me
and
I
told
you
I
was
like
hey.
You
know.
That
means
you
won
the
game.
E
I
E
E
G
D
A
Not
shy,
I'm
surprised,
she
didn't
want
to
begin
camera
this
afternoon,
but
she
did
a
nice
job.
She
got.
You
know
all
these
coaches.
We
talked
about
having
a
tough
time
getting
all
those
different
players
in
they
were
able
to
do
it
and
also
make
it
competitive
throughout
the
day
and
both
the
boys
and
girls
games.
C
C
Your
right
and
don't
underestimate
the
fact
coaches
are
used
to
preparation
right
practice.
You
know
meetings
and
none
of
that
was
possible
just
because
schedules
and
the
way
things
happen.
So
the
fact
that,
like
you
said
both
coaches
were
able
to
have
a
some
semblance
of
order,
was
good.
Both
month
they
had
their
clipboards
out.
C
There
is
shown
in
place
and
and
just
like
coach
hands
just
said,
the
rotation
sometimes
can
be
tough
because
you
you're
not
used
to
having
the
obligation
they're
playing
the
entire
squad,
that's
right
and
because
during
the
season,
obviously
you
have
a
younger
players
and
bench
players
and
don't
expect
to
play
sure
those
put
the
table
play
much
and
that's
fine.
So
you
talk
about
whatever
your
rotation
is
seven
or
eight
players.
But
now
you
talk
about
trying
to
play.
12
players.
13
plays
that's
a
whole
different
world
completely.
A
C
C
My
hands
really
spread
out
quite
well.
Upchurch
that
said
top
play
with
12
points.
Her
teammates,
hopper
and
10
Carter,
obviously
is
in
the
stats
for
a
rebound
was
six
also
up
trip
for
six
up.
Trips
also
is
five
assists
and
Russell
had
five
assists
so
because
they
spread
things
on
spread
the
ball
around.
They
use
the
big
girls
inside
they
use
the
outside
shooting.
You
know
a
little
more
of
a
consistent
effort.
The
team
hands
no.
A
A
Ames
from
this
season
are
up
there,
including
these
two
all-star
games

We're
