Description
Join Mayor Walsh and City Councilor Kim Janey as they kick off the Love Your Block Dudley Square Cleanup. Love Your Block was created in 2015 in order to beautify Boston neighborhoods by providing mini grants and neighborhood clean up initiatives.
A
A
Welcome
to
Dudley
square,
my
name
is
Therese
Hardaway
and
I
am
not
only
a
business
owner
here,
but
a
very
proud
volunteer
for
love.
Your
block
today,
here
in
Dudley
square
I,
have
the
great
opportunity
of
introducing
a
really
cool
guy.
Someone
who
loves
Roxbury
as
much
as
I
do
and
without
further
ado
mayor
Marty,
Walsh.
B
Thank
you
very
much,
Cherise
I,
wonder
why
I'm
thank
you
and
for
all
that
you
do
a
business
owner
in
the
neighborhood
here.
I
want
to.
Thank
you.
I
got
a
bunch
of
thank
yous.
Just
take
you
before
I
start
talking.
So
let
me
start
thanking
first
of
all,
sit
in
the
hilltop
city
on
the
hill
charter
school.
Thank
you
very
much
to
all
the
students.
I
want
to
take
American
cities
coalition
heritage,
flag,
Verizon,
see
there
on
the
hill
again
toughly.
Street
Main
Street
I
want
to
thank
the
MBTA
for
their
support.
B
B
This
is
today
what
we're
doing
is
called
love.
You
bark
block,
clean
up
for
the
kids
that
young
people
that
are
here.
This
is
about
cleaning
up
your
neighborhood,
we're
also
bringing
pride
to
your
neighborhood,
because
this
is
a
very
good
neighborhood
and
should
we
should
be
very
proud
of
our
neighborhood
and
we
want
to
make
sure
we
go
out
there
and
do
it.
You
guys
are
proud
of
this
table
just
to
school,
but
we
also
have
businesses.
We
have
people
that
have
lived
in
this
neighborhood
for
a
long
time.
B
Some
of
our
elders
are
here.
Thank
you
very
much
for
being
here
today
and
the
work
you
do.
You're
gonna
see
these.
These
fliers
being
hung
up
on
doors.
People
are
going
around
the
city
around
the
neighborhood
doing
it
comes
with
Janie's
office
and
every
we're
all
doing
this
and
what
it
is.
Basically
it's.
How
do
you
report
street
lights
out,
hazardous
health,
trash
elyda
traffic
signals,
broken
street
repairs,
illegal
parking
things
like
that
data
quality
of
life
issues
that
are
important
for
our
neighborhood,
and
it's
really
easy.
B
B
A
Crawford
tree
playground
we're
doing
a
new
turf
at
Madison
Park.
So
we
can
play
that.
We
play
the
sports
over
there
for
the
kids
or
put
a
million
a
half
inch
of
white
Stadium,
we're
working
in
different
areas.
We're
building
two
brand
new
libraries
in
this
neighborhood
I
wanted
ugly
right
up
here:
they're,
making
it
Netherlands
a
little
further
away
and
Egleston
we're
doing
twelve
million
dollar
Eccleston
as
well
streets,
we're
gonna,
be
doing
Dudley
Street
over
at
almost
twelve
and
a
half
million
dollars
of
roadway
renovation.
B
We're
gonna
be
doing
there:
five
million
dollars
to
Quincy
Street
three
and
a
half
two
Ruggles
three
million
to
Madison
Park
Village,
a
million
to
Whittier
Street
Housing
Development.
This
is
five
sidewalks
and
we're
doing
some
money
if
I
redesign
an
eggless
to
square
and
then
we
have
a
lot
of
projects
going
on
housing
projects.
We
have
thirty
four
million
bucks
of
CPA
products
totally.
We
want
a
bottle
at
station,
Rio,
Grande,
Z,
building
st.
James,
creating
a
new
green
link,
st.
Luke's,
Charles,
AME
and
Paula
Titus
Park.
B
So
we're
showing
a
commitment
to
the
neighborhood,
but
I
just
have
to
say
to
the
young
people
and
I
know.
I
know
you're
younger
I
mean
and
you're
full
of
energy,
the
future
of
this
neighborhood
and
the
future.
Our
city
eventually
will
be
on
your
shoulders
and
you,
you
need
to
show
lead
by
example,
by
being
out
there
showing
other
young
people
the
importance
of
taking
care
respecting
their
neighborhood,
because
we're
too
long
people
have
respected
this
neighborhood
and
we're
going
to
make
sure
that
people
understand
the
importance
of
this
neighborhood.
B
There's
a
lot
of
history
in
this
neighborhood
and
there's
a
lot
of
lot
of
people
that
came
before
all
of
us
that
laid
down
the
foundation
for
us
to
be
able
to
get
opportunities
that
we
wouldn't
I
might
not
have
had,
and
certainly
opportunities
that
you
might
not
have
had
so
I
want
I
want
to
thank
you
for
being
here
today.
It's
not
a
speech
I'm,
not
telling
you
something.
What
I'm
doing
is
asking
you
to
with
us
in
making
sure
we
continue
to
move
forward.
B
We
live
in
a
great
city
in
America,
Boston
Massachusetts
and
we're
gonna
make
it
better
and
you
guys
are
a
big
part
of
helping
us
make
it
better.
So
I
want
to.
Thank
you
for
being
here
today.
I
want
to
thank
the
council
for
being
here
today
and
I
want
to
thank
all
of
the
work
that
that
Kyra
did
Cara
Foxx
and
Owen
s
did
and
Jerome
Smith,
and
everyone
in
the
city
of
Boston
and
I
want
to
thank
the
press.
I'm
asked
to
accomplish
a
couple
words:
hey.
C
The
first
thing
I
want
to
do
is
thank
our
mayor
for
his
investment
in
this
community
and
for
being
here
this
morning,
so
that
we
can
all
come
together
and
clean
up
our
neighborhood.
That's
what
it's
about
here
so
give
it
up
for
the
mayor.
I
want
to
acknowledge
and
thank
his
chief
was
chief
Smith.
Yes,
this
guy
here
we
have
been
working
in
cahoots
and
partnership
on
a
whole
host
of
things
trying
to
improve
this
area.
We've
got
businesses
here,
we've
got
nonprofits
here,
we've
got
residents
here.
C
This
is
our
community
and
we've
got
to
take
care
of
it.
This
banner,
you
see
here
it
says
the
heart
and
soul
of
Roxbury
Roxbury
is
the
heart
and
soul
of
Boston.
So
we've
got
to
continue
to
invest
in
this
community,
so
I'm
deeply
grateful
for
the
investments
that
we're
making,
not
just
in
terms
of
the
office
of
Neighborhood
Services
in
your
partnership,
but
the
chief
of
streets
and
the
investments
there
in
terms
of
parks.
C
All
of
that,
but
all
of
this
is
possible
because
of
people
like
you,
because
we
come
out
together
and
then
we're
going
to
clean
up
together
we're
going
to
take
care
of
our
neighborhood.
So
thank
you
for
being
here.
Thank
you
for
caring
about
our
community.
Thank
you
for
doing
everything
that
you
do
to
make
our
community
vibrant
and
strong
I'm
supposed
to
also
announce
that
we're
going
to
take
this
beautiful,
beautiful
banner
that
was
designed
by
a
local
Roxbury
artist
and
we're
going
to
walk
it
over
to
Dudley
cafe.
