From YouTube: S.P.A.C.E Grant Info Session For Child Care Providers
Description
The Office of Early Childhood and the Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion hosted an information session about the S.P.A.C.E Grant program, application process, eligibility, and requirements. The S.P.A.C.E. Grant Program will prioritize helping small businesses grow, including childcare!
A
A
So
if
that
is
what
you're
interested
in
doing,
you
are
in
the
right
place
and
I
am
going
to
turn
it
over
to
my
colleagues,
Aaliyah
Forrest
and
Elijah
Miller,
because
they
are
going
to
walk
us
through
what
the
program
offers
what
it
requires,
and
they
will
also
answer
your
questions.
So
thank
you
for
coming
and
I
will
turn
it
over
to
Aaliyah
and
Elijah.
Thank
you.
So
much.
B
Thank
you
very
much
good
evening
everybody.
My
name
is
Elijah
Miller
I'm,
the
director
of
policy
in
the
mayor's
office
of
Economic
Opportunity
and
inclusion
and
I
love,
helping
people
all
across
the
income,
Spectrum
build
wealth
and
one
of
the
ways
that
I'm
helping
my
office
do.
That
is
through
this
space
grant
program
supporting
pandemic
affected.
Community,
Enterprises
and
I
see
Paola
responding
to
people
in
the
chat
yeah.
You
don't
need
to
say
what
language
you
want
in
the
chat.
There
is
a
globe
icon
that
has
the
interpretation.
B
That's
where
you'll
make
your
decision
so
I'm
gonna
start
going
through
these
slides
to
talk
about
the
space
program
and
I.
Think
Aaliyah
will
click
yeah,
she's
great,
so
to
start
things
off.
This
is
a
program
to
offer
deep
subsidies
for
entrepreneurs
to
Open
Spaces
that
are
currently
vacant
or
underutilized
across
the
city.
B
There
will
be
grants
of
a
hundred
thousand
to
two
hundred
thousand
dollars
to
be
dispersed
over
the
course
of
three
years,
and
what
this
will
look
like
is
some
of
the
money
will
be
used
for
your
Capital
costs
or
your
infrastructure
build
out.
So
we'll
help
you
find
a
space
we'll
give
you
a
big
lump
sum
of
money
to
help
pay
for
your
infrastructure
costs
and
then
you'll
get
a
steady
check
every
month
for
up
to
three
years.
That
will
help
cover
your
rent.
B
So,
as
I
said,
this
is
money
for
rent
startup
infrastructure
and
you
can
use
it
anywhere
in
the
city
when
you
go
to
the
space
website
that
have
started
uploading
vacancies
onto
a
map
for
people
to
see
examples,
but
if
it's
not
on
the
map,
that
doesn't
mean
you
can't
occupy
that
space.
This
grant.
Is
there
any
space
in
the
city
outside
of
new
construction?
B
Let's
go
to
the
next
slide,
so
we're
really
targeting
this
opportunity
to
newer
entrepreneurs
that
have
25
or
less
employees.
So
this
is
about
supporting
our
small
businesses,
and
this
could
be
you
know
your
first
brick
and
mortar
location
or
an
additional
brick
and
mortar
location
we'll
be
helping
a
diverse
set
of
Industries,
but
they
are
all
most
likely
industries
that
were
heavily
impacted
by
covid,
or
it
could
be
in
a
geography
that
was
heavily
impacted
by
covid
and
we'll
talk
a
little
bit
about
that
more
later.
B
But
this
is
a
program
that's
really
designed
for
people
who
know
what
they
want
to
do,
which
I
think
is
all
of
you
attending
this
presentation
today.
You
know
that
you
want
to
offer
a
child
care
service.
B
You
know
this
is
not
exactly
a
grant
for
somebody
who
has
never
thought
about
running
a
business
until
they
heard
there
was
money
and
they're
gonna
try
to
just
like
pitch
some
crazy
idea,
but
I.
Don't
think
that
is
any
of
you
here
today
and
you
can
be
for-profit,
you
could
be
non-profit.
It
doesn't
really
matter
what
your
incorporation
status
is.
What
matters
is
more
of
what
service
you're
providing
next
slide.
B
We
understand
you
know
this
presentation
is
for
child
care
providers,
but
if
there's
people
in
your
network
that
are,
you
know,
trying
to
start
businesses
in
any
of
these
priority
areas:
Food
Service,
restaurants,
retail
art,
entertainment
and
the
creative
economy.
All
these
businesses
on
the
list
are
priority.
Businesses
that
are
eligible
for
this
program
next
slide.
B
And
this
just
kind
of
details
what
the
process
will
be
like
a
little
bit,
so
we
have
this
map
of
vacancies
to
help
give
people
ideas
of
where
vacancies
exist.
In
the
city,
the
application
is
open.
You
could
go
to
www.boston.gov
space
Dash
Grant
and
find
the
application
we're
going
to
be
reviewing
the
applications
in
February
and
selecting
grantees
in
April.
Then
we're
going
to
help
the
grantees
negotiate
good
leases
with
the
landlords,
as
well
as
the
banks
that
might
be
backing
the
mortgages
Behind.
B
These
properties
we're
going
to
give
you
your
money
and
your
technical
assistance
you're
going
to
have
that
lease
negotiation
to
make
sure
you
get
a
good
deal
and
the
grants
are
going
to
cover
you
for
up
to
a
three
year
period,
and
this
is
a
fun
chart
yeah
that
I'll.
C
Thanks
Elijah,
my
name
is
Alia
Force
I'm,
the
director
of
business
strategy
nice,
to
see
so
many
people
here
excited
about
the
space
grant
program
this
chart
here.
Elijah
did
say
it
is
beautiful.
C
It
shows
sort
of
the
timeline
of
from
when
the
application
was
launched
and
the
deadline
for
this
Grant
and
to
apply
for
the
first
round
of
the
space.
Grant
is
February
17th,
so
coming
up
soon,
but
it's
not
the
only
time
we'll
open
the
application.
I
believe
it's
probably
next
year,
we'll
reopen
it
or
maybe
even
in
the
fall
so
depending
on
how
we,
how
fast
we
get
the
money
out.
I
feel
like
we'll
know.
C
When
the
grant
will
reopen
for
a
second
cohort
of
people,
we
will
be
selecting
10
to
20
applicants
who
will
be
awarded
this
funding.
So
it's
a
competitive,
Grant
and
I
just
wanted
to
to
put
that
out
there
as
well.
So
as
this
chart
shows,
we
will
be
accepting
applications
until
February
17th.
We
do
have
a
proposal.
Review,
Committee
and
we'll
also
be
interviewing
folks
that
are
sort
of
in
a
semi-finalist
round.
C
As
in
in
selecting
the
awardees
in
April,
there
will
be
a
lease
negotiation
on
our
end,
which
and
is
a
technical
assistance
service
that
we're
providing
there's,
also
marketing
business
plan
development,
support
architectural
plans
that
could
be
written
for
you
for
a
daycare
center
and,
let's
see
what
else
to
do,
we
will
not
be
awarding
the
I
think
what's
important
is
we
will
not
be
awarding
actual
funding
until
Elise
is
signed
with
a
landlord,
that's
very
important
to
note,
and
we
hope
to
Award
grantees
with
the
first
round
of
money
in
June.
C
C
You
can
use
the
funding
for
Capital
assets,
so
that
means
equipment
like
point
of
sale
systems,
appliances
inventory,
not
cannabis,
federally
legal
products,
I,
don't
think
that's
going
to
be
an
issue
for
you,
but
it
would
be
for
other
businesses
trying
to
apply
for
this
money
build
out
so
Plumbing
wiring
kitchen
renovations,
shelving
installations.
C
Rent
Elijah
did
a
lot
of
research
into
this
and
it
was
determined
that
by
providing
at
least
28
of
rent,
it
will
be
helpful
or
this
grant
program.
We
don't
and
it
will
be
individual.
It
will
be
unique
per
applicant,
like
some
folks
that
are
applying,
may
just
want
funding
for
their
build
out
cost
and
they
want
fifty
thousand
dollars
and
they
may
not
want
rent
support.
C
We
don't
think
that's
going
to
be
a
frequent
request,
but
it
could
happen
so
everybody
who
applies
will
be
able
to
request.
Do
they
want
100
between
150
and
200
000?
Do
they
want
50
000?
And
why
and
what
are
they
going
to
spend
it
on
and
it
needs
to
fit
Within
These
categories
in
addition
to
rent
security
deposit
is
an
eligible
cost
and
Elijah
I.
C
Don't
know
if
you
wanted
to
add
anything
to
this,
because
I
know
that
the
28
of
the
monthly
rent
for
three
years
I
think
is
something
that
you
explained
very
well.
B
Yeah,
you
know
that's
just
a
statistic
from
some
academic
research
on
how
much
do
you
need
to
subsidize
rent
in
order
to
help
people
overcome
the
barrier
to
Market
entry?
You
know
we're
willing
to,
as
Alia
said,
negotiate
on
a
case-by-case
basis.
What
individuals
think
their
needs
are
we
just
have
you
know
the
suggested
subsidy
that
you
may
want
to
take
for
your
best
chance
of
success.
C
For
site
selection,
this
is
sort
of
our
frequently
Asked
question.
Do
I
need
to
already
have
a
site
in
mind
before
I
apply?
The
answer
is
no.
We
can
help
you
find
a
site
based
on
our
relationships
with
the
Main
Street
organizations
throughout
the
city,
the
downtown
Boston
bid
and
other
business
organizations.
C
We
plan
on
working
with
the
grantees
on
where
what
neighborhoods
they're
looking
to
be
located
so
I
think
if
anything,
if
you
don't
have
a
site
in
mind
for
a
commercial
vacant,
storefront
or
Child
Care
Center,
that
having
a
neighborhood
in
mind
is
helpful
so
that
we
can
move
forward
from
there.
A
grantee
may
have
already
found
a
site.
So
that's
great
too.
C
We
also
have
some
folks
that
have
applied
that
may
have
already
signed
a
lease,
but
maybe
haven't
moved
in
yet
we
have
folks
that
have
signed
a
lease,
maybe
last
year
and
just
haven't,
had
the
money
to
build
out
the
site
yet
and
have
applied.
So
every
application
is
unique
and,
as
Elijah
mentioned,
we
aren't
just
giving
funding
for
rent.
If
we're
also
providing
technical
assistance.
C
When
you
apply,
we
have
a
scorecard
that
is
public
and
available
on
the
space
grant
website.
Each
application
will
be
evaluated
on
the
basis
of
a
35,
Point
assessment
and
I
think
out
of
everything
in
the
application.
The
most
important
part
of
it
is
your
business
plan,
since
you
are
all
already
in
business,
I
think
this
will
be
an
easy
one
for
you.
Some
folks
have
never
opened
a
business
before
or
have
been
doing
it
on
a
much
smaller
scale.
C
So
I
think
if
you
have
what
you
send
to
parents
when
they
join
the
Child
Care
Center,
on
how
your
businesses
run.
That's
helpful
that
can
be
scored
up
to
18
points
and
is
the
real
girth
of
the
whole
scorecard
zip
code
of
the
business
isn't
as
qct.
That
means
is
where
your
business
is
located
now.
Is
it
part
of
a
qualified
census
tract
and
a
map
for
that
census?
C
Tract
is
on
the
space
grant
website
and
if
you
type
in
the
address
of
your
business,
if
it
shows
up
in
one
of
the
highlighted
areas,
that
means
that
your
business
is
part
of
the
qct,
which
would
give
you
additional
points.
You
do
not
need
to
be
in
a
qct,
because
you
are
running
a
child
care
facility.
C
But
if
you
were
not
part
of
that
industry
list
that
we
showed
in
the
beginning,
you
would
need
to
be
in
a
qct
in
order
to
be
eligible
for
this
grant
in
your
business
plan
having
an
employment
plan,
because
your
child
care
facilities,
I,
think
that
sharing
how
you
plan
on
hiring
folks
or
who
you've
hired
already
would
be
helpful
and
if
you're
a
child
care
Co-op,
you
get
extra
points
for
that
as
well.
C
In
addition,
if
you
were
selected
to
be
an
awardee
of
this
grant,
funding,
as
we
mentioned
funding,
would
not
go
out
until
you
sign
a
lease,
and
once
that
happens,
the
landlord
also
needs
to
fill
out
an
application.
It's
much
shorter
and
I
think
simpler
than
the
Grant
application.
Basically,
they
have
to
have
good
standing
with
the
city,
so
the
building
owner
you
know,
has
to
have
paid
their
real
estate
taxes
up
to
date
with
fees,
bills
and
taxes
requesting.
C
Oh,
we
want
them
to
be
flexible
with
our
grantees,
which
me
could
mean
lower
Market
rental
rates.
It
could
mean
you
know
when
the
start
date
of
the
lease
actually
begins
like
maybe
they
you're,
not,
maybe
you
don't
open-
or
maybe
you
aren't
paying
rent
until
you
open,
like
some
sort
of
flexibility,
is
something
we're
going
to
encourage
as
part
of
this
program
before
you
sign
a
lease,
it's
part
of
the
negotiation
process
and
then
we're
also
providing
legal
technical
assistance
to
help
with
that
process.
C
Thank
you.
This
is
what
our
vacancy
map
looks
like
on
the
website.
It's
not
every
vacancy.
In
the
city.
It's
a
sampling!
You
don't
have
to
pick
one
of
these
many
commercial
vacancies
that
we
counted
by
foot
and
put
on
a
map.
It's
it's
a
way
to
show
how
many
there
really
are,
and
especially
downtown,
where
it's
very
much
concentrated.
C
Any
commercial
vacancy
in
the
city
is
eligible
for
this
grant
funding.
So
what
you
see
on
the
website
isn't
the
whole
story,
but
it's
helpful
for
a
lot
of
people
to
be
like.
Oh
here's,
the
number
for
the
landlord
I'll
give
them
a
call
and
see
if
my
business
is
a
good
fit
for
this
space,
because
every
one
of
these
pins
has
information
about
the
vacancy.
C
A
B
Yes,
so
the
business
has
to
be
in
Boston.
If
you
don't
have
a
business
address
in
Boston
right
now.
You
know
what
some
people
do.
Is
they?
You
know
if
they
live
in
Boston,
and
this
is
more
for
people
who
just
don't
have
a
business
address.
They
haven't
Incorporated.
B
Yet
a
lot
of
people
will
register
they'll
start
by
registering
their
home
as
their
business
address,
and
then
you
could
change
it
later.
Many
small
business
owners
do
that
because,
usually
you
start
your
business
before
you
start
paying
commercial
rent
for
an
expensive
place,
but
you
know
because
this
is
a
Boston
program
for
people
and
businesses
in
Boston.
B
A
Thank
you,
I
think.
That's
really
helpful
Elijah.
The
next
question
that
Mercedes
asked
I
believe
is:
could
you
apply
to
make
your
basement
into
a
child
care
center
and
I?
Think
again,
the
answer
to
that
question
is:
if
that
basement
was
in
a
commercial
building,
it
might
be
something
that
you
could
consider,
but
if
it
is
in
your
home,
that
is
not
that
does
not
qualify
for
this
particular
Grant.
Would
you
say
that
that's
correct
Elijah.
B
Yes,
you
know
the
federal
regulations,
they
simply
separate
things
that
are
for
housing
and
things
that
are
for
small
businesses,
which
I
understand
you
know
is
frustrating
for
people
on
the
ground
who
have
like
a
mixed-use
space,
especially
in
the
wake
of
covid,
and
things
are
more
home-based
but
to
to
follow
the
Federal
Regulations.
You
really
need
to
use
this
money
for
a
commercial
space.
A
Right
and
I
think
that
that
also
the
next
question
question
was
from
Adriana
who
wanted
to
know
if
you
could
use
it
to
prepare
your
for
a
daycare
and
again,
the
answer
to
that
question
would
be
no
latara.
Owens
had
a
question
in
the
chat
she
says.
Does
your
business
plan
need
to
have
the
request
for
Capital
assets,
infrastructure
build
out,
rent
and
security
deposit.
B
I
would
say,
the
request
doesn't
necessarily
need
to
be
there.
I
I
believe
in
the
application,
there's
a
separate
area
for
the
request,
but
in
your
business
plan
you
should
be
thinking
about
what
are
your
costs
going
to
be,
and
even,
if
you
don't
know,
specifically
what
space
you're
going
to
lease.
B
Yet
you
know
some
of
the
data
that
we've
used
to
inform
this
program
is
going
on
a
free
website
like
loopenet
and
trying
to
find
like
what
is
the
average
rent
in
Boston
or
even
going
to
a
neighborhood,
and
you
can
use
the
vacancy
map
that
we
have
as
a
tool
to
look
at
the
vacancies
that
exist
and
look
at
what
the
rents
are
like
and
then
come
up
with
a
an
estimate
of
what
you
think
you're
going
to
spend
on
these
items.
A
So
Elijah
that
gets
us
to
the
next
question,
which
is
about
the
commercial
vacancies
and
how
they
were
selected
and
what
the
criteria
are
for
considering
additional
sites,
but
I
think
what
I
heard
you
say
was
if
it's
a
vacant
site
and
it's
not
on
the
map,
it's
still
eligible.
Is
that?
Can
you
clarify
for
Jeremy?
He
has
a
question
in.
C
This,
yes,
that
is
true
Jeremy.
The
map
itself
is
an
example
of
the
vacancies
that
are
available
in
the
city.
But
if
you
know
of
a
vacancy,
it's
qual,
it
qualifies
as
long
as
it's
storefront
level
so
ground
floor
and
it's
in
a
commercial
building
it
qualifies,
and
it's
in
Boston
did
I
say
that
and
it's
in
Boston
you.
A
A
The
next
question
in
the
chat
comes
from
Daniel
and
he
wanted
to
know
if
this
could
be
applied
to
a
franchise.
Assuming
the
school
itself
would
be
less
than
25
employees.
B
Very
tough
question:
I
would
say
it's
a
it's
an
area
that
potentially
has
some
flexibility,
so
we
could
look
at
an
individual
case,
but
it's
not
a
blanket
yes,
because
you
can
imagine
you
know
McDonald's,
they
could
say.
Oh
my
franchise
only
has
seven
employees,
therefore
we're
a
small
business,
and
that
is
certainly
not
the
case.
B
So
the
federal
government
does
have
a
more
expansive
definition
of
small
businesses
than
what
we're
using
right
now.
So
that
could
be
an
individual
case
fallback.
B
F
You
yes,
Ana
Crespo
asked
this
has
already
been
answered
if
the
commercial
space
has
to
be
only
in
the
Boston
area,
yes,
I
think
there's
another
one
in
Spanish.
F
There's
actually
one
in
English,
it
Jeanette
asks:
do
you
all
offer
support
with
moving
from
home
daycare
licensing
to
Sender
licensing?
My
understanding
is
that
these
are
different.
F
Jeanette
I
think
we
can
answer
that.
This
is
only
for
the
space.
This
is
not
regarding
licensing.
The
licensing
would
be
something
that
you
have
to
do
separately.
F
Then
we
have
an
another
question
from
latara
who
says
if
your
first
business
is
in
Boston?
Can
my
second
location
be
in
Cambridge
I
just
want
to
clarify.
B
F
Aisha
asks:
when
would
the
application
be
available
again?
I'm
sorry,
I
missed
that
information
I.
C
Can
put
the
link
to
the
application
in
the
chat?
Although
I
know
the
chat's
quite
heavy,
but
I
will
put
it
in
right
now.
A
And
we
will
also
share
it
share
with
everyone
in
follow-up,
both
the
recording,
the
slides
and
the
link
to
the
application.
A
G
B
D
D
My
question
is
that
I'm
interested
in
opening
up
a
daycare
center.
However,
right
at
this
moment,
I
don't
have
a
director's
license.
So
how
long
will
this
Grant
be
available
for.
D
B
A
I
Yeah
not
a
question
just
more
of
a
clarification.
I
I
did
hear
a
question
around
if
this
is
for
family,
child
care
and
I.
Think
it's
important
that
we
clarify
that
if
they
do
want
to
move
into
this
space,
they
would
technically
be
considered
centers
and
they
would
first
have
to
go
through
licensing
to
get
all
of
that
done.
So
in
essence,
they
wouldn't
technically
be
receiving
funds
for
their
family
Child
Care
Program.
They
would
be
receiving
funds
for
their
new
center
location
in
a
commercial
space.
A
I
K
B
F
G
B
I
I:
don't
think
that
will
have
an
impact.
You
know
her
status
as
a
Cooperative
running.
A
Cooperative
organization
will
increase
her
likelihood
to
get
the
grant
because
we
prioritize
co-ops
to
the
extent
that
you
know
if
it's
this
eight-member
ecosystem
that
has
over
25
employees
in
total
than
we
can
look
at.
You
know
the
individual
facts
and
whether
she's
still
in
line
with
the
Federal
Regulations
around
small
businesses,.
A
A
It,
but
you
are
next
and
then.
J
Right
so
I
have
a
leaf
on
two
Suites
in
Boston.
They
are
not
contiguous
Suites
one
sweet
is
a
up
and
running
preschool.
It's
a
year.
Old
I
have
five
employees.
My
second
Suite
was
an
indoor
playground,
but
it
got
completely
obliterated
by
covid
and
so
I
already
have
a
lease
for
both
my
my
spaces,
but
I
would
like
to
see
if
I
can
apply
for
my
space
to
to
be
transitioned
from
an
indoor
playground
to
more
education
preschool
space.
There
are
two
separate
premises,
but
in
the
same
building
on
the
ground
level,.
B
That
is
acceptable
and
we
encourage
you
to
apply.
The
one
thing
that
we
will
try
to
do
is
see
if
it
is
possible
to
renegotiate
a
lease
to
get
you
an
even
better
deal
from
your
landlord.
A
B
B
You
know
if
you
have
a
promising
business
and
you're
selected
and
we're
helping
you
to
negotiate
a
lease
I'm,
confident
we're
gonna
get
there
in
a
reasonable
amount
of
time
and
but
just
to
clarify
you
won't
get
the
money
until
after
you
sign
the
lease,
so
it'll
just
be
waiting
for
you
and
we're
gonna
work
every
day
to
get
you
where
you
want
to
be.
A
C
Ideally,
you
have
it,
but
if
you
don't
I've
been
getting
them
and
I've
been
like
through
my
email
address
and
sort
of
I've
been
keeping
them
on
file
until
we
actually
review
all
the
applications
and
then
I
will
attach
them
to
your
application,
so
ideally
would
love
to
have
them
as
you're
filling
out
the
application
it
closes
on
February
17th.
So
there's
no
rush
to
really
like
I
have
to
send
this
now
and
I.
C
Don't
have
a
letter
of
support
yet,
but
I
can
get
it
in
like
three
weeks
or
something
like
you
can
wait.
We're
not
we're
not
judging
the
applications
by
the
speed
that
they're
submitted.
So
if
you
have
all
of
your
documents,
that's
ideal
I
don't
want
to
lose
anything
in
my
inbox,
but
I've
been
really
keeping
track
of
what
people
have
been
sending
to
me.
Also
the
application.
Now
in
the
beginning.
C
B
So
I
I
could
drop
the
link
again,
but
I
dropped
a
link
above
to
our
neighborhood
business
managers,
they're
available
to
help
with
your
questions
about
permitting
licensing
they'll
help
connect
you
to
our
bank
of
technical
assistance
providers
and
you
don't
need
to
be
in
the
grant
program
or
any
grant
program
to
get
that
help
they're
there
to
help
people
all
the
time.
B
B
So,
if
you're
business
is
simply
a
partnership
where
you
co-own
a
single
business
with
somebody
else,
you
could
just
note
that
on
your
application,
if
you
and
you
know
a
friend
or
somebody
in
your
industry
are
thinking
about
opening
two,
you
know
complementary
businesses
that
are
you're
each
going
to
independently
operate,
but
you
think
that
they
will
make
an
area
Stronger
by
both
of
them
coming
into
business
together,
then
I
would
recommend
you
both
submit
an
application
that
way
you
could
conceivably
get
up
to
four
hundred
thousand
dollars,
but
you
know
we
will
treat
each
of
the
applications
separately
on
their
own
merits
and
treat
each
of
you
as
grantees
on
your
own
merits.
B
A
Thank
you
Elijah,
so
there's
only
two
more
questions
in
the
chat
and
I
think
we'll
then
go
to
our
raised
hands.
One
is:
could
you
use
this
to
expand
to
open
more
classrooms
within
the
same
commercial
building
and
the
other
is?
Can
you
use
this
grant
to
expand
an
after-school
program.
C
I
can
answer
some
of
the
first
question
to
expand
to
other
classrooms
and
Elijah.
Tell
me
if
I'm
I'm,
wrong
but
I
think
if
it's
in
what
we
would
consider
another
storefront
in
the
same
building
that
you're
activating
that
it
would
be
eligible.
But
if
it's
within
the
same
space
it
would
not
be
eligible
because
that's
just
an
expansion
in
a
current
space,
but
there
have
been
business
owners
asking
like
well
there's
this
vacant
space
next
door
and
I've
always
wanted
to
open
another
business
there
and
now.
Maybe
this
is
my
opportunity.
C
Yes,
like
two
bacon:
storefronts,
yes,
but
if
it's
in
the
same
space,
no
am
I
right
about
that.
Yes,
okay,
good.
A
C
B
Yes,
so
one
I
would
say
that
it
would
have
to
occupy
an
additional
commercial
space,
so
it
can't
just
be
you
know,
operating
costs,
for
you
know,
hiring
somebody
to
organize
this
after
school
program
and
two
just
looking
at
the
labor
impact
that
Boston
experienced
Educational
Services
were
not
hit
as
hard
as
child
care,
and
so
because
of
the
way
this
program
is
tailored,
it's
really
not
for
Educational
Services,
and
so
you
know,
if
you're
operating
a
child
care
center
that
primarily
provides
children
in
education.
B
I
will
just
say,
you
know,
call
yourself
a
child
care
service
and
not
an
educational
service,
and
you
would
have
to
then
cater
to
Children.
So
you
know
this
is
not
adult
Learners
or
you
know,
juveniles
looking
for
something
to
do
with
their
life.
B
This
is
for
child
care
or
you
know
again,
go
I
drop
the
link
to
the
qualified
census
tract,
which
is
the
geographic
route
of
where
were
the
areas
hit
hard
by
covid,
and
then
that
would
be
your
sort
of
work
around
of
having
an
educational
service
in
a
geography
that
was
hit
hard
by
kovid
I
know
it's
a
little
complicated.
So
if
you
want
to
follow
through
with
this
on
an
email,
I
would
definitely
be
happy
to
do
that.
C
I
also
wanted
to
add
and
I,
don't
think
we
talked
about
this
yet,
but
there
is
another
Grant
opportunity
that
is
not
run
out
of
our
office
that
your
business
might
be
qualified
for
through
the
arts
and
culture
program.
So
if
you
are
like
an
Arts
after
school
program,
there
there's
a
grant
called
a
cultural
space
grant
that
just
came
out.
It's
now
going
to
be
like
the
there's.
These
two
space
grants
out.
C
One
is
for
cultural
Enterprises
and
one
is
for
some
cultural
and
then
some
small
businesses
and
child
care
and
bike
repair
shops
and
a
lot
of
other
things.
So
you
might
qualify
for
both
I.
You
won't
be
able
to
receive
both
necessarily
but
I
would
I
can
drop
a
link
to
that
that
Grant
opportunity
just
came
out
last
week,
so
it
is
quite
new
and
it
is
a
rolling
deadline
and
I
believe
they're
going
to
have
an
info
session
soon
about
it.
So
keep
your
eyes
out
for
that.
A
L
Okay,
yeah
hi,
I'm,
Araceli
Lopez
I
want
to
try
saying
in
English.
M
A
So
arcellus,
yes,
this
grant
is
for
specifically,
if
you
were
a
family
of
child
care
and
you
wanted
to
apply
to
open
a
center.
You
can
certainly
use
this
for
that.
The
one
thing
that
you
want
to
make
sure
of
is
that
you
can
meet
the
licensing
qualifications
for
a
center,
so,
for
example,
you
would
either
need
a
director
or
you
would
need
to
be
certified
to
be
a
director,
but
that
is
one
of
the
purposes
of
this
money
to
be
able
to
do
that.
N
Brown,
yes,
hi.
Thank
you
again.
Continuing
I
know
you
guys
have
talked
a
lot
about
the
center
transition
from
family
child
care
to
Center
and
I.
Just
want
some
clarity,
as
we
try
to
help
people
do
that,
and
the
grant
the
application
period
ends
on
the
17th.
So
by.
O
H
N
Right
yeah,
so
I,
don't
know
how
how
much
you
guys
can
give,
but
by
the
17th
are
the
requirements
to
apply.
Is
that
you
have
those
licensing
things
in
place
by
the
time
you
submit
this
Grant
application,
or
can
you
propose
like?
Can
you
just
submit
a
proposal
to
transition
with
information
on
when
you'd
have
those
things
in
place?
It's
part
one
and
then
part
two
is
like
what
is
the
grant
length
or
term
here?
What.
B
What
so
you
don't
need
to
have
all
of
the
conditions
met
by
the
time
you
apply
if
you
are
a
really
promising
candidate
and
you're
still
working
on
getting
your
licenses?
That's
okay,
but
you
won't
get
any
of
the
grant
money
until
you
meet
the
conditions.
B
B
Hopefully
we
could
get
anybody
through
the
regulatory
process
faster
than
that,
but
you
know
the
short
answer
is:
there's
a
buffer
window
where,
if
you're
still
working
on
getting
your
licenses
after
the
17th
of
February,
that's
okay,
and
what
was
the
second
question?
I'm?
Sorry.
So.
N
The
grant
term
so
to
understand
right
if
the
grant
terms
12
months,
I
need
to
get
this
lease
signed
and
ready
within
that
and
spend
this
money
before
the
end
of
the
term.
So
I'm
just
trying
to
understand
what
is
the
term
because
that's
to
be
factored
in,
if
you
don't
have
all
the
regulatory
pizzas
in
advance
to
really
understand
the
feasibility
of
getting
this
done
within
the
term
yeah.
B
So
the
term
it
could
be
a
little
different
Case
by
case
our
default
advice
is
going
to
be
essentially
a
36
month
term,
three
years
of
subsidy.
That's
what
we're
gonna
recommend
to
folks.
B
B
N
This
makes
sense
and
sorry
my
last
question
was
and
am
I.
If
you
have
the
details,
you
just
forward
me
the
link,
what
can
be
included
in
that
budget
either?
What
can
this
grant
cover?
What
budget
line
items
can
it
cover
so
I
know
we
talked
about
like
your
like
your
your
lease,
like
the
rent,
subsidizing,
your
rent,
some
build
out
or
Capital
cost,
but
I
don't
know
what.
If
there's
anything
else,
I
heard
something
about
technical
support,
but
I
wasn't
certain.
N
B
Yeah
I
think
we
could
slide
out.
I'm
sorry
send
out
the
slides
with
that
information
to
everybody
after
this
session
and
then,
if
you.
G
A
H
I
think
you've
probably
answered
my
question,
but
I
just
wanted
to
make
sure
I
saw
I.
Think
I
heard
you
saying
in
order
to
you,
I'm
a
family
child
care
provider
and
I
would
like
to
open
a
center.
Now
I
don't
have
a
directed
license,
but
me,
and
a
friend
of
mine
always
was
always
talking
about
opening
the
shelter
and
she
had
a
director's
license.
Would
that
be?
H
Will
I
still
be
eligible
to
be
able
to
qualify
for
the
grant
with
some
with
a
friend
of
mine?
Who
will
be
the
director?
She
has
her
direct
devices
yeah.
B
That
sounds
like
it
could
work
out
to
me.
I
think
that
there
might
be
a
question
about
you
know
who
your
key
employees
might
be
or
yeah
something
that
you
put
in
your
business
plan.
So,
okay,
you,
you
know,
have
a
friend
who's
going
to
be
your
employee
and
you're
gonna,
be
the
owner
applying
okay,
okay,.
A
So
I
see
a
couple
of
people
asking
about
the
process
to
apply
for
a
director's
license
and
we
have
actually
just
funded
both
neighborhood
Villages
and
urban
College
to
provide
free
courses
for
people
to
get
their
director's
license,
and
you
can
find
the
information
for
that
on
our
website.
Paola.
Would
you
please
put
that
in
the
chat
for
folks
who
have
a
question
about
how
to
apply
for
a
director's
license
and
the
city
will
be
paying
for
that?
So
that's
a
great
opportunity.
A
Maybe
if
you
want
to
get
your
director's
license
first
and
apply
in
a
subsequent
round
for
the
space
Grant
I
see
Brie
or
Bry,
who
has
a
hand
raised?
If
you
want
to
ask
your
question.
Q
Yes,
let's
say
I'm
applying
by
the
deadline,
which
is
February,
17
and
I,
get
selected
to
receive
the
grant,
so
I
don't
have
a
space
yet
for
opening
I
I'm
a
family
child
care
right
now,
so
I'm
trying
to
go
to
a
center.
So
what
is
the
deadline
to
have
a
lease
sign?
B
The
grant
will
not
expire,
so
you
don't
have
to
worry
about
that.
A
Okay,
we're
we're
getting
close
on
time,
so
I'm
going
to
ask
Catalina.
If
you
can
give
us
your
question
and
then
we'll
we'll
move
quickly
to
make
sure
we
can
get
everyone's
questions
answered.
C
It
is
in
four
different
languages,
the
applications
in
Spanish
Chinese
and
my
brain
is
not
working.
What
is
the
other
language.
M
A
M
R
C
C
Yeah,
that's
okay,
but
the
I
think
a
frequent
question
that
we
get
where
it
wouldn't
be.
Okay
would
be
if
you
were
looking
to
purchase
a
building
right
now.
We
can't
use
our
funds
for
that,
but
if
you
already
own
the
building
and
you're
looking
to
open
a
space
in
your
building
that
could
qualify.
O
Hi,
it's
Emmy
Romero.
How
are
you
good?
How
are
you
what's
your
question
so
I
think
there's
because
I
I'm
hearing
the
same
questions
in
different
variations,
I
think
there's
a
confusion
in
the
sense
of
do
you
need
to
have
the
qualifications
like
the
classes
already
and
have
a
certificate
for
director
to
apply
or
have
the
license
or
do
you
need
both
to
apply
I.
Think
there's
a
lot
of
confusion
with
that
and
I
just
want
to
clarify
it.
So.
A
I
think
the
answer
and
I'm
gonna
have
Elijah
and
Aaliyah
correct
me
if
I'm
incorrect
is
that
you
do
not
have
to
have
everything
in
place
when
you
apply,
but
it
is
also
not
advisable
to
be
like
three
years
before
you
get
your
license,
because
this
is
money
that
they
need
to
invest
now.
So
it
needs
to
be
relatively
soon,
but
you
don't
need
to
have
everything
ready,
because
part
of
this
process
is
helping.
A
O
A
A
A
You
can
apply
if
you
are
opening
a
center
in
a
commercial
building,
so
not
for
your
home,
but
in
a
commercial
building.
Oh
okay,
okay!
Thank
you!
Thank
you!
So
much
you're
welcome,
Mary,
Ellis
I'm,
so
sorry,
I'm
pretty
sure
I
pronounced
your
name
incorrectly.
S
A
So,
in
order
to
get
licensed,
you
would
have
to
be
what
is
called
small
group
or
a
center
family.
Child
care
by
definition,
is
in
your
home
and
this
is
not
for
people's
homes.
So
if
you
have
a
family
child
care,
you
could
certainly
apply,
but
you
have
to
apply
to
be
doing
more
than
your
family
child
care.
A
S
S
P
B
To
gracias.
A
So
this
grant
is
for
people
who
want
to
open
a
center.
So
if
you're,
a
family
child
care
provider-
and
you
would
like
to
open
a
center,
this
grant
could
help
you
do
that.
You
could
find
a
location
in
your
community
where
there
is
a
ground
floor
vacant
building
that
would
be
appropriate
for
child
care
and
you
could
apply
to
open
it,
and
this
grant
could
help
you
do
the
build
out.
It
could
help
you
pay
for
rent.
A
A
Aaliyah
and
Elijah
have
both
put
their
email
in
the
chat.
Paula
can
put
hers
and
mine
in
the
chat
and
we
are
happy
to
continue
to
answer
questions
by
email
or
by
phone.
A
All
right,
why
don't
we?
Why
don't
we
go
ahead
and-
and
we
will
tomorrow,
send
you
all
a
copy
of
the
recording?
We
will
make
sure
everyone
has
our
emails,
the
slide
deck
and
the
link
to
the
application
and
I
see
Betty.
You
have
a
burning
question
that
can't
wait
till
tomorrow,
you're
the
last
word.
What
do
you
got?
Okay,
hi.
T
My
name
is
Betty
and
I
am
a
daycare
provider?
I
tried
to
open
a
business
like
a
couple
of
years
ago,
I
try
and
I
always
fail
when
they
go
for
10
times
Avenue.
They
make
something
the
lender
then,
after
that
they
want
to
rent
it.
To
me
that
was
crazy.
T
I
would
say:
well
I'm
gonna,
try
again
until
I
see
you
guys,
I
tell
her
what
happened
to
me
and-
and
she
told
me
that's
right-
the
right
meeting
for
you
so
I
like
to
know
if
they
help
you
with
the
business
to
get
to
get.
You
know,
because,
right
now,
if
you
hire
hire
a
real
estate
agent,
they
ask
for
a
lot
of
money
when
they
help
you
to
look
for
a
place.
Yeah
I
need
to
know
we
we
can.
We
can
get
help
for
that
too.
E
T
The
owner,
yes,
I,
hear
you
I'm
not
ready
to
qualify
I'm
a
teacher
qualified
for
Center
too
and
I
have
a
homework
yeah,
but
I
can
hire
a
director
and
I'll.
Be
there
all
the
time,
24
7,
watching
the
business
and
also
Kobe
brace
in
in
what
is
a
teacher.
Do
because
I'm,
a
teacher,
qualified
so
I,
know
I,
understand
on
the
question
we
already
have
and
I
mean
the
people
have
already
for
you.
C
I
I
feel
like
that's
something
we
hear
from
not
just
Child
Care
Centers,
but
all
businesses
that
finding
the
best
place
for
their
business
is
expensive,
and
that's
why
this
grant
can
be
helpful
for
that
exact
purpose.
C
We
are
helping
helpful
for
the
site
selection,
part
of
it
we're
not
working
with
any
real
estate
brokers
to
hire
them
to
do
the
site
selection,
we're
helping
find
the
site
for
the
business
by
working
with
Main,
Street
organizations,
business
associations
that
work
with
the
landlords
and
know
the
spaces
more
than
we
do
so
we're
happy
to
help
with
that
part
and
then,
in
terms
of
like
working
with
1010,
Mass,
Ave
and
inspectional
services
and
all
of
the
different
steps
you
need
to
open
your
business.
C
A
Thank
you
Betty
for
that
great
question,
Elijah
and
Aaliyah.
Thank
you
so
much
for
sharing
this
great
opportunity
with
us.
We
want
to
thank
our
interpreters
for
providing
us
with
the
opportunity
to
speak
in
multiple
languages
and
Domingo.
Thank
you
for
being
our
host
for
this
evening.
Paula
will
make
sure
that
we
return
all
the
information
that
we
said
that
we
would
get
to
you
tomorrow,
but
if
you'll
give
us
a
little
time
to
make
sure
we
download
everything
and
we'll
get
it
to
you
as
fast
as
we
can.
A
Thank
you
again
for
being
willing
to
spend
some
time
with
us.
Thank
you
for
really
great
questions
and
we
look
forward
to
working
with
all
of
you,
as
you
continue
to
serve
the
children
and
families
of
Boston
have
a
great
evening.
Good
night
have
a
good
night
good.
