From YouTube: National Night Out 2022: Roxbury
Description
After a three year hiatus, Boston's National Night Out is back and better than ever! Mayor Wu, Elected Officials, Boston Police Officers, and Community Leaders gathered across twelve different Boston neighborhoods, as part of a national community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships.
A
Thank
you
so
much
for
everybody
coming
out
tonight.
We
we
really
appreciate
it.
We
we
did
get
a
great
night
tonight,
it's
not
as
hot
and
humid
as
it's
been
so
that'll
make
the
night,
hopefully
even
more
enjoyable.
A
We
have
a
couple
special
guests
there
this
evening
and
I'd
like
to
say
thank
you
for
coming
out
and
having
a
great
national
night
out,
and
first
I'd
like
to
thank
mayor.
Michelle
wu
who's
been
a
great
supporter
of
the
neighborhoods
and
a
lot
of
good
stuff
that
we're
doing
in
the
city.
I'd
like
to
thank
all
the
elected
officials
that
have
come
out
and
their
support
that
has
been
going
on
for
the
last
year
and
through
a
tough
time.
So
it's
very
exciting.
Thank
you
very
much
for
being
here.
A
They
continue
to
lead
us
through
a
tough
time
and
as
we
get
out
of
the
pandemic
and
start
getting
back
to
normal,
with
all
the
events
and
stuff
their
hard
work
truly
shows
a
lot
of
stuff.
We
don't
really
see
every
day
but
they're
doing
a
lot
of
good
stuff
for
the
city
and
the
neighborhoods.
So
that's
much
appreciated
and
I'd
like
to
thank
sergeant
sullivan
and
her
crew,
the
community
service
office.
Again
they
do
a
lot
of
work
all
year
long
and
they
don't
always
get
the
credit
for
me
and
other
people.
A
A
And
then,
if
I
could
say
thank
you
to
all
the
great
sponsors
and
the
people
that
came
out
tonight
to
help
us
out
again
that
that's
a
true
mock
of
what
the
city
is
all
about,
and
everybody's
kind
of
working
together
to
make
the
neighborhood
better.
And
finally,
I'd
like
to
thank
you
all
for
taking
the
time
to
come
out
and
have
a
great
night
national
night
out
and
enjoy
yourselves
here
tonight.
A
If,
if
I
could
have
pasta,
arthur
gerald.
A
So
tonight
we
we're
very
fortunate
that
we
have
a
a
very
great
man
amongst
us
and
I
I
considered
a
true
honor
and
pleasure
to
have
had
the
opportunity
to
meet
with
meet
him
the
last
year
and
enjoy
the
walks
on
fridays
with
them.
So
this
year
we're
we're
gonna
award
the
the
neighborhood
watch
crime
fighter
of
the
year.
The
winner
of
this
year
is
pastor,
arthur.
A
And
gerald
I
could
real
quick
tonight:
pastor
arthur
gerald
is
receiving
the
award
just
a
little
bit
about
him.
He
was
he
was
born
in
boston.
He
graduated
english
high
school.
He
says
it
was
1988.
A
But
in
in
2010.
C
A
The
pastor
at
the
12th
baptist
church
he
was
there
for
10
years
as
the
as
the
senior
pastor
and
he
left
in
2020,
and
he
moved
on
he's
still
a
great
part
of
that.
There's
there's
many
ways
that
we
can
fight
crime
and
there's
different
thoughts
in
in
in
methods
to
do
it.
A
Pastor,
arthur
gerald
has
done
it
with
his
crew,
which
is
another
thing
we
got
great
tonight,
but
he's
done
it
his
way
and
his
way
has
been
walking
on
friday
nights
through
roxbury
spreading
a
message
of
love,
hope
and
peace.
A
And
that
that
is,
that
is
truly.
You
can
feel
it
when
you
walk
through
with
him
there's
a
lot
of
people
that
need
to
see
him
on
fridays
and
look
forward
to
it,
and,
and
he
brings
a
smile
to
a
lot
of
people's
faces
and
a
lot
of
people
that
truly
need
help
and
love
in
their
life
and
pastor
gerald
brings
it
all
right.
A
So
if
I
could
I'd
just
like
to
give
him
the
award.
D
C
I
grew
up
right
here
in
roxbury
played
in
this
park,
as
well
as
several
other
parks,
but
now
it's
my
time
to
give
back
I'm
trying
to
get
back
as
much
as
I
can
to
make
the
community
better
for
so
many
people
there's
so
many
of
you
here
that
have
been
part
of
our
peace
walks.
We
have
a
team
that
is
here
from
twelve
one
of
the
peace
walkers
from
top
baptists.
C
These
are
the
folks
that
helped
to
walk
with
me
to
the
community.
We
love
it.
We
encourage
the
people
in
the
community
we'd
only
walk
alone.
The
captain
is
with
us
more
times
than
not
and
he's
becoming
a
celebrity
in
the
community,
and
the
community
loves
us
when
we
come
around.
We've
had
several
of
you
with
us
as
we
walk
and
if
I
start
calling
names
I'll
get
myself
in
trouble,
but
I'm
truly
grateful
and
thankful
to
the
mayor
and
she's
doing
a
marvelous
job.
Giving
mayor.
C
And
soon
we
will
have
a
new
commissioner
and
that
new
commissioner
has
walked
with
us
when
he
was
here
in
boston
and
he
promised
he's
going
to
walk
with
us
when
he
comes
back
as
commissioners.
That's
helpful
and
there's
so
many
here
that
have
shared
in
these
peace
walks.
I
think,
if
more
of
us
did
it,
the
city
would
be
a
better
place
for
everybody.
C
C
A
So
not
only
do
we
have
the
crime
fighter
of
the
year
here,
amongst
us,
as
as
great
of
a
man
as
pastor
gerald
is
he's
very
fortunate
that
he
also
has
a
great
what
I
call
backup
band
and
those
are
the
12th
baptist
peace
walkers,
and
they
are
they're
here
tonight
and
they're
going
to
receive
an
award
also
for
the
community
service
award
from
b2
and
the
boston
police.
So
if
they
could
all
please
come
up
here.
A
These
gentlemen,
here
go
out
with
our
pastor
gerald
and,
and
they
spread
the
same
message
of
prayer,
hope
and
love,
and
they
do
it
pretty
much
every
friday
night,
they
take
their
time
to
go
out
to
the
community
and
spread
a
good
word,
and
here
they
are
here
these
gentlemen.
Here.
B
Get
a
good
picture.
I'm
very
photogenic,
like
my
like
my
cousin.
D
B
It's
a
great
place,
always
a
great
place
to
welcome
and
pass
the
gyro
on
friday.
We
tend
to
walk
through
the
nubian
notion
and
many
other
places
warrant
guys.
I
just
love
the
idea,
and
one
of
the
great
thing
I
like
walking
is
because
I
walk
for
my
health,
and
my
doctor
told
me
last
week
monday:
your
heart
is
excellent
and
do
you
know
I'm
70
years
old,
you
young
people
need
to
come
out,
walk
with
god,
because
it
is
good,
so
god
is
good
to
us,
so
I
thank
god
being
for
the
diligent.
B
A
Thank
you
and
then,
if
I,
if
we
could
again
a
great
supporter
of
all
the
community
groups
and
and
and
trying
to
improve
the
quality
of
life
in
the
neighborhoods,
I
would
I'd
be
remiss
if
I
didn't
give
her
the
opportunity
to
say
something.
So.
Amir
wu.
D
Thank
you,
commissioner
burke,
for
joining
us
to
ems.
Thank
you
chief
cooley,
for
joining
us
to
our
community
engagement
cabinet.
Thank
you,
chief
melor
for
being
here
as
well.
I'm
sure
I'm
missing
folks
and
then
I'm
gonna
go
down
all
the
elections.
One
other
cabinet
level
for
actually
our
chief
of
staff
tiffany,
is
here.
Thank
you.
Tiffany.
Another
cabinet
member,
stephanie,
everett,
director
of
our
office
of
police,
accountability
and
transparency,
is
here
key
part
of
our
community
safety,
and
so
many
so
many
community
partners
here.
D
So
whether
it's
the
work
of
miss
ruth
rollins
or
the
the
award
committee
side,
miss
victoria
williams
and
miss
dorothea
jones
and
anyway
now
I'm
going
to
get
in
trouble.
Naming.
D
But
thank
you
thank
you
for
making
sure
that
boston
continues
to
lead
the
way
in
what
community
driven
government
looks
like
and
so
a
quick
recognition
of
our
elected
officials
who
are
standing
here.
We
always
kind
of
draw
the
stick
and,
and
one
one
gets
to
speak
and
we
rotate.
So
thank
you
so
much
our
u.s
attorney,
rachel
rollins,
leading
the
way
across
the
country
and
now
protecting
all
of
massachusetts.
In
addition
to
the
city
of
boston,
our
sheriff
of
suffolk,
county,
steve
tompkins.
Thank
you
so
much
city,
councilor
murphy,.
D
All
right,
and
at
this
stop
where
I'm
going
to
hand
over
the
microphone
to
digital
chinese.
E
Good
evening
everybody
it
is,
it
is
an
honor
and
a
privilege
to
be
here
in
historic,
roxbury,
just
to
say
a
few
words.
It's
so
good
to
see
you
tonight
and
thank
you
mayor's
office,
amir
wu,
for
all
the
incredible
work
that
you
do
I'll
reiterate
again,
thank
you
to
our
bpd
command
staff,
but,
most
importantly
to
our
boston,
police,
community
service
officers.
For
all
the
work
that
you
do.
E
Community
engagement,
community
collaboration
is
the
key
to
public
safety.
It's
the
key
to
intervention
and
prevention,
things
that
we
do
is
the
key
to
keeping
our
communities
whole
safe
and
vibrant.
So
thank
you
for
all
you
do
and,
more
importantly
than
that,
thank
you
look
around.
You
look
at
all
these
people
look
at
this
community.
Thank
you
for
everyone
in
this
community
that
does
so
much
good
work.
I
know
a
couple
of
names
are
mentioned
earlier:
ruthie,
but
one
that
wasn't
mike
kozer
who's
been
laboring
here
for
so
long
doing
such
good
work.
E
Thank
you
all.
You
know
for
everything
you
do
and
I
would
just
say
you
know
to
where's
reverend
you
are.
You
are
a
man
of
god
and
you
are
a
man
of
honor
and
I
thank
you.
I
thank
you
for
your
support.
I
thank
you
for
your
humility.
I
thank
you
for
who
you
are
and
who
you
are
is
a
statement
called
faith
without
works
is
dead.
How
many
people
know
that
faith
without
works
is
dead?
This
is
a
man
who
exercises
faith
and
works.
E
That's
why
he's
out
there
every
single
friday
night
he
said
he
said
he
does
it
every
night,
every
fire,
no
matter
what,
unless
it's
raining,
because
he
melts
and
I've
been
out
there
with
him,
and
so
many
of
you
guys
have
been
out
there
with
him
and
we've
played
with
him.
Thank
you
for
all
that
you
do.
That
is
so
well
deserved.
Award.
We
love,
you
all,
have
a
wonderful
night.
Thank
you.
