A
A
Thanks
everybody
for
coming
I'm,
going
to
introduce
I'm
going
to
introduce
the
mayor
and
then
there'll
be
a
bunch
of
speakers
coming
back
after
him.
We
have
some
awards
if
you've
just
arrived.
What
you
didn't
miss
or
did
miss
is
the
exercise
portion
on
this
update.
You
missed
Zumba
with
a
cop.
We've
got
a
half
hour
of
sweating
jumbo
with
it
up
and
then
breakdancing
the
Boston
floor
Lords.
A
So
you
missed
all
the
exercise
portion.
You
can
stay
later
and
do
it
again
if
you'd
like
but
National
Night
Out
is
Jamaica
plains
great
night
and
with
the
police
and
the
community
come
together.
We
work
very
hard
all
together
throughout
the
year.
This
is
just
one
day,
but
we
like
to
introduce
some
special
folks
and
get
them
awards
for
some
special
work
during
the
year.
Everything
of
course
works
for
the
top,
so
I'm
going
to
introduce
the
leader
of
the
city
and
he'll
introduce
everybody
else.
Mayor
of
the
city,
Marty
Walsh,.
B
C
Noches,
hey
Thank,
You,
DJ
and
I
want
to
thank
you
for
for
the
great
work
that
you
do
and
it's
great
to
be
here
and
Jamaica.
Plain
I
want
to
thank
everyone
for
coming
out
today.
I
want
to
give
a
special
shout
out
to
captain
grill
and
all
the
police
office
at
E,
13,
Thank,
You,
captain
Andy,
13
and
I
want
to
thank
the
Mildred
Haley
Tennis
Association
for
your
great
work
and
I
was
here.
C
We
were
here
about
five
months
ago,
maybe
six
months
ago,
and
we're
here
for
an
unfortunate
incident
and
as
we're
walking
around
what
we
were
trying
to
explain
to
the
media.
The
the
write
the
newspapers
is
that
a
lot
of
great
things
happen
in
this
neighborhood
and
we
know
that
you
have
to
cover
the
news
when
it
happens,
but
we
all
want
you
to
be
here
covering
what
good
things
happen
and
tonight
I
want
to
take.
The
press
is
here
tonight
covering
a
great
thing
is
happening
in
this
neighborhood
I.
C
C
C
We
also
have
I
want
to
make
special
mention.
We
have
two
elected
officials
that
are
here
that
a
difference
to
my
heart,
but
also
have
done
so
much
work
at
the
State
House.
One
is
Liz
Mallya
on
the
opioid
crisis,
understand
the
devastation
that
drugs
and
alcohol
has
on
families
and
Liz
how
passive
major
piece
of
legislation
the
end
of
session
and
I
want
to
thank
Liz
Maya
for
great
work
on
the
opioid
crisis.
C
C
Jeffrey
Sanchez
the
fact
that
he's
the
chairman
of
ways
and
means
and
I
can
say
this-
not
concessions
over
he's
been
one
of
the
biggest
additions
to
the
city
of
Boston
and
his
work
and
ways
of
means
making
sure
we
have
additional
revenue
coming
to
our
city,
particularly
around
school
funding,
Thank
You
Jeffrey
for
all
your
great
work.
You
want
this
work
as
a
team
and.
C
C
Jorge
Diaz,
you
know
Joe
Diaz,
he's
here
with
us.
Today
we
have
a
chief
who
Lee
from
EMS
is
here
with
us:
Thank
You,
chief
from
the
ambulances,
Thank
You
chief,
feel
great
work
and
I
just
want
to
well
before
we
get
into
the
next
step
of
what
we
give
me
awards
to
tonight.
There's
a
celebration:
it
really
is
a
celebration
of
the
work
of
the
community
and
the
police
do
together
in
making
sure
that
we
keep
the
crime
down
on
the
neighborhood.
Then
we
work
to
end
the
violence
and
we
have
work
to
do.
C
We
know
that,
but
we
here
tonight,
as
a
show
of
support
to
the
community,
to
let
you
know
that
we
eat
we
here,
we're
going
to
continue
to
be
here,
we're
going
to
continue
to
work
hard
so
that
these
young
ones
that
are
here
tonight
can
grow
up
in
a
safe
neighborhood
and
that's
what
we
should
be
doing
making
sure
they
grow
up
in
a
safe
environment.
A
safe
neighborhood
and
a
couple
of
things.
C
I
just
want
to
say
major
crime
in
this
neighborhood
is
about
the
same
as
last
year,
which
we
have
to
work
on,
and
the
next
carry
that's
going
to
come
up
here
and
speak
we're
going
to
talk
about
what
we're
going
to
do
together
and
also
we
have
making
sure
that
we're
working
to
robberies
and
Lassa
knees-
and
this
enabled
it
down
this
year,
so
we're
working
together
to
make
sure
that
happens
and
I
want
to.
Thank
all
of
you
for
doing
that
today.
C
Today
is
a
special
day
in
the
City
of
Austin.
Today
is
a
day
that
was
the
passing
of
the
gavel.
We
had
a
commissioner
here,
Billy
Evans,
who
was
here
for
five
years,
with
an
incredible
job
in
the
city,
working
on
community
policing
and
working
in
areas
that
were
recognized
by
President,
Obama,
Billy,
Evans
retired,
and
we
had
the
chance
to
to
to
work
and
get
somebody
who
understands
the
importance
of
being
a
streetcar
I'm,
not
saying
making
history.
We
all
know
we
made
history
today,
but
it's
not
about
making
history.
C
It's
about
putting
somebody
in
the
job
that
understands
the
job
that
understands
the
streets
that
understands
the
people
that
understands
it
from
the
ground.
All
the
way
up,
commissioner
cross
started
as
a
cadet
on
the
Boston
Police
Department
he's
worked
his
way
into
the
rank
and
file
officers.
He
worked
his
way
into
leadership.
He
was
the
knight
commander
in
the
city
of
Boston,
he's
been
out
chief
for
the
last
five
years,
and
it
was
my
honor
and
it's
my
honor
to
do
so.
The
42nd
Police
Commissioner
in
the
city
of
us
and
Commissioner
with
us.
F
E
You
know
I
know
many
many
many
people
here.
Thank
you,
my
brother.
Let's
get
my
hand
Amir
Walsh
grabbing
the
confidence
in
me
to
make
me
be
42nd
police,
commissioner
folks,
I
tell
you
what
one
of
our
missions
is,
so
that
is
that
every
child
in
the
city
of
Boston
will
feel
comfortable
about
putting
on
a
Boston
police,
uniform
or
Suffolk,
County,
Sheriff
or
transit
that
law
enforcement
is
about
the
community
under
our
community
policing
model
and
everybody's
welcome,
because
everybody
helped
build
this
country.
There
are
no
walls
on
our
police
departments.
E
Everybody
is
welcome
and
we
want
our
police
departments
to
reflect
every
neighborhood
in
this
city.
So
we
thank
you
very
much
for
what
you
do
as
a
community
and
how
you
look
out
for
each
other
and
there's
tough
times
and
there's
good
times,
but
we're
going
to
be
together
in
both
I
hope.
We
all
understand
that
it
takes
a
village
to
raise
a
child,
so
I
know.
E
Many
of
you
here
are
committed
that
if
there's
a
family
in
need
reach
out
to
help
them,
if
there's
a
family
in
need,
reach
out
and
help
lift
them
up,
so
they
can
sit,
take
to
share
the
same
fortune
that
we
do
all
right.
So
you
see
everybody
here
behind
us
and
you
see
everybody
here
in
front
of
us.
This
is
what
community
policing
is
about.
All
of
us,
I
came
from
the
community
and
Here
I
am
because
of
folks
like
you.
So
thank
you.
Thank
you.
Thank
you,
yeah!
E
F
C
Right
before
we
bring
the
captain
up,
I
have
the
honor
of
giving
out
the
first
chalk
crime
watch
group
of
the
Year
award,
and,
let
me
just
say
this
I
got
a
chance
to
meet
all
of
the
client
all
of
this
group.
About
a
year
ago,
we
met
inside
the
community
room
and
we're
talking
about
how
do
we
make
this
neighborhood
safer
and
better,
and
this
group
didn't
stop
one
bit
and
continue
to
work
and
the
the
top
crime
watch
group
of
the
year.
This
year
goes
to
the
Mildred
Haley
tenant
organization.
C
It
represents
the
lot
come
on
up
here,
the
largest
apartment
complex
in
our
district,
one
of
the
largest
of
Boston.
The
development
includes
three
sections
built
on
25
acres
of
land:
there's
approximately
800
units
of
housing
over
2,000
people
living
here.
Many
of
the
residents
are
elderly,
handicapped
or
children,
and
I
just
want
to
congratulate
them
on
this
feat
and
I
want
to
ask
Jeffrey
Sanchez
come
up
here
and
say
a
word
for
me.
G
Let
me
see
that,
thank
you.
Everybody
I'm
Jeffrey
Sanchez,
your
state
representative,
just
when
you're
presented
with
your
will,
do
it
mayor,
Walsh,
it's
hot,
but
everybody
is
out
because
they're
Bromley
and
mills
really
that's
how
we
do
it.
Everybody
comes
out
and
just
community
loves
to
get
together
and
Commissioner
cross.
We're
so
proud
of
you
and
we're
so
proud
of
what
you've
done
to
get
to
this
point,
because
there's
a
lot
of
work
that
goes
into
making
sure
that
that
we
receive
and
we
get
the
right
commissioner
and
Mayor
Walsh.
G
We
applaud
you
for
your
decision
in
bringing

our

for
this

proud
to
be
here.
G
G
Thank
you
personally
for
busting
your

to
make

all
the

in

the
great

the
great

safe
community
that
they

it
isn't
that
they
deserve
it.
Thank
you,
dear.
So
I
won't
talk
anymore,
except
to
say,
can
I
see
honest
thing
can
I
say:
I
have
a
little
thing.
You
guys
have
put
it
on
point.
You
have
a
great
night,
everybody,
commissioner,
all
right.
This
is
I,
think
we're
supposed
to
take
a
picture
of
something.
E
F
E
Let's
hear
it
again
for
district
attorney,
Dan
Connolly
30
years
over
30
years
of
service,
all

neighborhood
watch
unit,

Thank

Thank

Thank

this
just
one
night,
you
do
it
every
night,
so
the
next
award
is
for
miss
Carolyn
Royce.
Where
is
Carolyn
Royce,
oh
hi,
Carolyn
Royce,.
E
E
You
Carolyn
has
been
a
mover
and
a
shaker
on
many
different
community
efforts
in
both
Egleston
square
and
Jamaica
Plain.
She
called
on
current
property
owners
and
managers
to
demand
improvements
in
security
and
safety.
We
all
need
that.
Thank
you.
She
organized
meetings
with
new
developers
and
builders
to
give
neighborhoods
a
chance
to
to
raise
concerns
to
give
neighbors
a
chance
to
raise
concerns.
She
led
the
push
for
new
pedestrian
safety
devices
in
Egleston
square.
She
helped
to
plan
and
produce
community
cleanup
projects
at
Lawson
Park,
the
Edison
Peace
Garden
in
the
Dixville
Street
garden.
E
She
led
efforts
to
reach
help
with
the
addiction
services
from
Boston
recovery
services
and
also
local
health
centers.
She
also
raised
attention
to
the
issues
of
needle
and
syringe
danger
how
to
protect
our
children,
including
proper
proper
disposal
and
removal
efforts.
Carolyn
has
also
served
last
August
as
the
districts
of
speaker
for
the
presentations
of
awards
at
the

for
over
two

as

In
that
short
time,
Alicia
is
caught
the
attention
of
many
neighborhood
residents.
Families
and
service
agencies.
Alicia
also
works
closely
with
many
schools,

Alicia,
has
earned
the

and

of
all
those
young

that
she
serves,
including
residents.

To

for
almost
three
years
committed
to
detail
and
quality
work,
but
today
we'd
like
to
thank
him
for
his
passions,
his
dedications
to
neighbors
businesses
and
friends
in
the
district,
especially
for
the
disadvantaged,
the
elderly,
the
handicapped
and
the
children.
Early
last
year.
He
thought
of
the
original
idea
to
hold
a
free
fishing
derby
for
kids
at
Jamaica.
Pond
catch
and
release
with
the
Boston
Police
was
a
huge
success,
but
this
year's
Derby
did
update
all
estimates.
This
past
June
30th.
E
A
Tell
you
the
Derby
never
would
have
happened
without
dozens
of
volunteers,
but
those
volunteers
will
all
tell
you
that
it's
Mike's
imagination,
perseverance
and
the
hard
work
that
did
it.
Thank
You
detective

for
all
your
superior
commitment
to
the
service
of
our
community.
We're
lucky
to
have
you

that
you've

me
here.
I
have
had
the
pleasure
of
visiting
the
tenants
organization
discussing
the
issues
that
you
raised
here
and
working
with
you
I'm,
going
to
miss
that
and
a
great
group
of
young
assistant
DA,
so
here
tonight,
they're
going
to
help
you
through
that
process,
and
you
know,
but
work
with
us
says
everyone
is
safe
before
me.
D
Most
importantly,
I
want
to
thank
you.
I
want
to
thank
you
for
the
support
that
you
gave
us
in
the
case
that
happened
here
in
May.
So
tonight,
let's
think
about
Christopher,
let's
think
about
Claiborne,
let's
think
about
your
mane
okay,
because
the
other
part
of
community
policing
is
making
sure
of
somebody
who
will
fire
a
gun
in
a
place
like
this
will
be
held
accountable,
and
you
can
rest
assured
that's
going
to
happen
on
my
watch.
Okay,.
D
You
very
much
it's
great
to
be
with
you
tonight.
I
just
wanna
acknowledge
one
other
great
boss.
The
police
officer,
Tony
Smith
in
the
back
Tony,
has
been
a
detective
assigned
to
my
office
for
the
last
16
years,
kept
me
safe
for
16
years,
and
he
grew
up
right
here
in
the
Bromley.
He
housing
development,
so
Tony
good
luck
in
your
retirement
as
well.
Thank
you.
Captain.
