A
A
Good
afternoon,
everyone
I'm
Commissioner
gross.
Thank
you.
Last
year,
bright
was
my
first
stop
as
the
new
commissioner
Thank
You
mayor
Wallace.
So
everyone
make
your
way
to
the
stage
and
thank
you
again,
Brighton
for
always
having
the
back
of
the
Boston
Police
Department.
It's
us
working
in
partnership
that
gets
things
done
best
in
the
nation.
B
I
good
afternoon,
thank
you
all
for
coming
for
the
first
off
of
the
2019
National
Night
Out,
my
name
is
Dan
Ariely
I'm
the
captain
here
at
district
14
and
joined
on
stage
here
with
some
elected
officials
with
Mayor
Walsh
idea
da
Rollins
Commissioner
gross
the
elected
officials,
Lobby
George
State,
representing
a
City
Council
Mike
Flaherty
city
wide.
Thank
you
all
for
coming.
Let's
kick
this
off
without
further
ado
May
or
the
great
city
of
Boston
mayor
Walsh,.
C
Thank
You
Darren,
thank
you.
Yeah
captain
and
I
just
want
to
say
hello
to
everyone
from
Brighton
and
Austin
how
you
doing
today.
That's
awesome,
I
want
you
to,
as
your
day
goes
on.
C
This
is
a
great
neighborhood
I
want
to
thank
everyone.
That's
here
today,
I
want
to
thank
you
for
all
the
great
work
you
do.
I
want
to
give
a
shout
out
to
captain
Russell
and
I
want
to
thank
captain
Greeley
and
all
the
officers
of
d14
for
the
great
work
they
do.
Sean
sergeant,
Byrnes
and
and
the
Boston
Police
Foundation,
thank
you
for
you.
Do
we're
here
with
a
bunch
of
elected
officials
they've
already
mentioned,
but
I
want
to
mention
again
our
our
district
attorney
Rachel
Rawlings
is
here
and
she's
been
with
us
doing.
C
I
want
to
give
a
shout
out
to
my
former
colleague
from
the
House
of
Representatives
I'm,
representing
Onan,
who
does
an
amazing
job
up
there
and
every
year
I
get
up
at
this
podium
and
talk
about
how
dedicated
public
servant
he
is
and
he's
amazing.
So
thank
you
represented
for
your
great
work
and
I
want
to
say
happy
Anniversary
to
the
Commission.
It's
been
one
year.
It's
amazing!
One
year
ago
tonight
was
his
first
day
we
went
around
the
city
of
Boston
and
he
was
welcomed.
What
were
the
incredible
incredible?
C
Welcome
from
all
the
different
neighborhoods
and
I
just
want
to
drill
real
briefly
talking
about
some
of
the
work
that
that's
happened
since
the
commissioners
taking
over
before
we
do
that.
I
want
to
thank
the
office
of
brighton,
subs
abuse
task
force,
doing
great
work
neighbors,
who
wanted
lower
speed
limits.
Thank
you
very
much
for
the
work
you're
doing
in
the
community.
All
the
activism
in
d14,
as
of
8:00,
as
of
yesterday,
zero
shooting,
zero
homicides,
all
major
crime
down
by
12%.
That's
an
amazing
stat.
C
C
We're
gonna
continue
to
the
work
of
prevention.
We
apiece
watch
social
justice
towns.
For
us.
We
have
the
VIP
program
at
the
Boston
Public
Health
Commission,
we've
included.
We
have
seven
trauma
teams
in
the
City
of
Austin.
So
when
violence
happens
in
a
neighborhood
in
the
past
there
wasn't
always
the
trauma
teams.
We
have
trauma
teams
that
goes
out
now
and
works
with
the
community
to
try
and
make
sure
that
the
the
repercussions
of
shooting
the
frame
Leigh,
the
friends
and-
and
everyone
involved-
we're
out
there
reaching
out
to
people
on
trauma
teams.
C
So
there's
a
lot
of
great
work
going
on
it's
not
all
just
the
city
is
all
of
us
collectively
working
together.
No
one
takes
credit.
It's
a
it's!
It's
a
team,
Team
game
here
in
Boston
and
I
want
to
thank
the
team.
That's
here,
I
want
to
thank
the
residents
of
this
great
neighborhood
I'm,
going
to
turn
this
microphone
back
over
to
Commissioner.
Will
you
gross.
A
Alright,
I'm
back
hey
folks
from
Brighton
Austin
I
just
wanted
to
say
to
you.
We
really
appreciate
you,
you
know
if
you
look
across
America
oftentimes
we're
faced
with
a
lot
of
the
anti-police
sentiment,
and
we
know
that
this
community
has
our
back
from
the
great
officers
and
in
Brighton
here
that
work
hand
in
hand
with
you
in
community
policing,
and
it
resonates
all
through
our
department
about
the
great
support
we
have
from
the
communities.
A
And
here
with
me
today
is
my
great
command
staff
they're
hiding
in
the
back
they're
acting
shy,
but
can
we
give
them
a
hand.
A
So
what
the
mayor
just
alluded
to
those
great
stats
we're
talking
about.
We
want
to
educate
everyone
that
when
we
talk
about
statistics,
especially
the
positive
ones,
that's
in
partnership
with
the
community.
So
it's
not
a
pat
on
the
back
to
BPD,
it's
a
shout-out
to
all
of
us
as
we
signify
by
working
together.
We
can
reduce
crime
and
increase
the
quality
of
life,
so
what
better
place
to
begin
every
National,
Night
Out,
except
for
in
Brighton.
This
is
the
place
where
we
start
so
give
yourselves
a
hand
and.
A
Look
on
this
stage:
you
have
the
District
Attorney,
you
have
the
police,
you
have
city
councillors,
state
rep
and
an
excellent
mayor.
That's
what
we're
talking
about
in
Boston.
We
work
together
to
vow
that
we
have
your
backs
because
we
know
you
have
ours.
So
another
person
that
has
our
back
gonna
bring
her
up.
District
Attorney,
Rachel
Robbins.
Please
come
up.
D
Thank
you
guys.
Brighton
is
special
to
me.
My
father
was
a
guidance
counselor
at
Brighton
high
school
for
over
a
decade,
so
I
have
memories
of
coming
and
driving
up
that
big
hill.
To
pick
him
up
from
work,
often
and
I
want
to
tell
you
that
you
are
very,
very
lucky
to
have
Captain
Greely.
Here
we
work
together.
D
He
was
overseeing
a
lot
of
the
homicides
that
are
happening
in
the
city
and
and
I
got
an
opportunity
in
my
first
six
months,
my
six
months
of
working
to
see
what
a
wonderful
detective
he
is,
how
much
he
cares
about
the
people
of
Suffolk,
County,
so
you're,
very,
very
lucky
to
have
him
as
your
captain
I
want
to
thank
representative
Koenen
as
well
as
the
city
councillors
that
are
here.
I
have
a
few
people
from
my
team.
D
Caitlin
and
Ricky
are
here
as
well
as
Tara
and
others,
my
chief
of
community
engagement
and
external
affairs,
our
liaison
to
the
LGBTQ
community,
as
well
as
our
director
of
restorative
justice.
We've
met
with
Alston
Brighton
health
collaborative
we're
going
to
come
back
and
make
sure
we
talk
to
you
about
all
the
things.
We're
doing
to
make
sure
every
single
person
in
Brighton
documented
undocumented
feels
comfortable
knowing
what
the
DA's
office
does
and
how
we
can
help
in
any
way
possible.
D
I'm
excited
about
the
fact
that
we
are
thinking
differently
about
low-level
nonviolent
crimes
and
not
holding
people
accountable
for
addiction,
because
it's
a
health
issue
and
working
with
the
mayor
and
the
Commissioner
about
ways
that
we
can
think
strategically
about
that,
while
also
making
sure
that
we
hold
people
accountable
for
violent
crimes
and
remove
them,
because
our
communities
deserve
to
be
safe.
So
I'm
excited
to
be
on
this
stage
with
Boston
city
councilors,
as
well
as
first
responders
here
in
our
wonderful
mayor.
Thank
you
for
giving
me
an
opportunity
to
speak.
C
Just
real
quick
as
the
Sachin
comes
up.
We
also
want
to
give
a
shout
out.
We
have
Boston
home
center
here,
I
want
to
thank
sheriff
C
Tompkins
crew.
That's
here!
Thank
you
very
much,
the
YMCA
st.
elizabeth's
and
take
advantage.
We
have
some
programs
that
that
they
want
to
advocate
for
over
here.
So
please
make
sure
we
have
the
blossom
police
ice
cream
unit
with
the
cadets
that
are
Manning
it
man
and
woman
in
so
thank
you
cadets
for
being
here
today.
