From YouTube: National Night Out 2018: East Boston
Description
Residents from East Boston joined with police and city officials for fun, food and music during the National Night Out celebration. The 35th Annual National Night Out Boston is a citywide celebration that focuses on strengthening partnerships between the community and law enforcement.
A
B
And
all
the
office
a
seven
for
the
great
work
they
do
every
single
day
and
sergeant
mountain.
Thank
you
very
much
in
all
the
CSO
offices.
This
is
a
it's
great
to
be
here
in
these
Boston.
This
is
our
second
day
of
a
two-day
tour
around
around
the
city
of
Boston,
doing
National,
Night,
Out
and,
and
yesterday
we
will
follow
it
around,
but
I
don't
want.
The
press
was
following
us
all
day,
really
crosses
on
TV
all
night.
B
Last
night,
my
mother,
my
mother,
said
the
day
the
day
I
appointed
Commissioner
Evans
to
the
police
department.
My
mother,
in
her
Irish
brogue,
called
to
call
me
and
said
Oh
mother
of
God.
She
was
that
point
need
something
to
eat
and
then
the
SA
she
called
me.
She
was
boiler
that
will
across
the
fine
man,
isn't
he
so,
but
now
it
was
a
great
day
yesterday,
an
exciting
day
for
Boston.
B
But
what
this
is
all
about
today
is
going
around
the
communities
thanking
the
communities
for
your
efforts
in
reducing
the
crime
and
the
violence
and
improving
the
quality
of
life
in
the
different
neighborhoods
of
our
city
and
East.
Boston
is
one
of
those
special
neighborhoods
I
want
to
thank
the
elected
officials.
Are
the
rule?
Is
today
and
a
few
other
folks,
I'm
gonna
introduce
City
Council
Michael
clarity's
with
us.
B
District
attorneys
with
us
Dan
Conley,
I,
didn't
this
is
his
last
official
National
Night
Out,
as
an
elected
official
he's
done,
25
straight
from
the
very
beginning,
so
I
said
no
honor
applause.
We
didn't
call
me
of
the
stream
gauge
on
the
Oh
state
representative
and
a
great
ally
to
all
of
us
in
Boston,
and
really
it
was
able
to
accomplish
an
awful
lot
in
the
legislative
session
this
year,
including
more
funding
for
schools
in
our
district
Adrienne
mater.
Oh.
B
It's
partner
on
the
other
side,
on
the
Senate
side,
another
guy
who
who
worked
extremely
hard
on
the
last
day
of
session.
It
was
calling
me
and
a
whole
bunch
of
issues
back
and
forth,
and
he
talked
in
particular
about
the
opioid,
okay,
a
bill
that
passed
and
a
lot
of
good
things
in
that
bill,
but
to
help
people
that
are
struggling
with
addiction
and
I
judge
McDonald's
yeah.
Thank
you
judge
who
does
a
lot
of
work
in
here?
I
want
to
thank
Senator
Funke
worried
for
his
great
work
this
last
last
session
as
well.
B
B
But
is
that
a
couple
of
I
think
there's
some
other
elections
coming
Easter
sabe
George
is
probably
on
her
way
because
she
always
is
nice,
Boston,
City,
Council,
Lydia
Edwards
is
not
the
wait
today,
but
I
want
to
thank
her
office
for
being
here,
Michele
Gould
office
as
well.
Thank
you
and
then
also
Sheriff,
Steve,
Tompkins
I
think
he
you
might
have
went
to
some
place
first,
but
I
think
he'll
be
here
in
a
little
bit.
So
I
want
to
thank
them
all
just
a
couple
of
quick
things.
B
B
Is
under
construction
progress,
east
e
pride
is
August
August,
16,
18th,
sorry
of
the
long
Dania
farmers
market
is
back
in
Central,
Square,
Park
and
I
know
that
well
in
the
we
were
able
to
do
it
before
the
budget
to
put
in
permanent
ones
in
East
Boston,
but
with
the
help
of
the
City
Council
and
elected
officials,
we
now
have
two
permanent
ambulances
in
East
Boston
they're.
Here
they're
in
the
budget.
B
Conversation,
it's
not
the
right
time
for
it,
but
I
know
that
we
still
have
concerns
about
traffic,
the
tunnel,
rents
and
development
and
we're
working
on
all
those
issues
between
whether
the
state
or
the
city
and
we'll
talk
about
that
more
later.
But
thank
you
for
coming
out
today.
Yesterday
was
a
great
day
for
Boston.
B
We
said
we
said
goodbye
the
week
before
to
a
commissioner
who
works
for
five
years,
worked
really
hard
in
working
to
improve
relationships
and
set
the
bar
really
high
in
the
city,
and
yesterday
we
officially
sworn-in
the
new
commissioner
of
the
Boston
Police
Department,
who
is
hit
the
ground
running
we
met
today
we
talked
about
a
whole
bunch
of
different
things.
You
know
what
I
said
yesterday.
A
lot
was
that
if
you
don't
know
where
they
cross,
you
just
looked
in
a
smile.
B
That's
who
he
is
he's
a
guy
that
that
has
the
knowledge
of
the
department
over
30-year
veteran
of
our
space
department
decided
as
a
cadet
worked.
His
way
into
rank
and
file
worked
his
way
into
the
command
staff
as
a
knight
commander,
then
the
chief
of
the
police
department,
and
now
he
is
the
Commissioner
of
Police
Department.
So
you
can't
ask
for
any
and
he's
also
a
homegrown
product,
basically
from
that
from
the
streets
and
under
seeing
that,
and
it
makes
such
a
big
difference.
C
But
thank
you.
Thank
you.
You
know
the
first
night
celebration
is
about
how
you
look
out
for
each
other,
but
just
like
I
told
the
neighborhood's
yesterday.
These
Boston
does
this
day
in
and
day
out,
we're
just
recognizing
the
best
of
the
best
here
tonight,
but
this
is
something
you
do
every
day
and
trust
me.
You
love
the
East
Boston
peace
blocks.
C
What
what
a
group
everyone's
dedicated
and
all
they
do
is
talk
about
making
East
Boston
better
and
better
and
I,
took
a
trip
to
El
Salvador
a
couple
of
months
ago
with
cheap
guys
from
Chelsea.
So
we're
committed
to
making
sure
that
anyone
that
comes
here
that
they're
not
going
to
be
forced
into
gangs
that
we're
gonna
try
to
deter
that
from
the
youth
in
our
community.
Because
everybody's
welcome.
C
So
we
went
to
our
Salvador,
where
we
ensured
cooperation
from
the
FBI
international
narcotics
and
a
lot
of
other
people
that
are
trying
to
change
that
the
way
of
life
so
that
nobody
has
to
be
joined
again
to
join
a
gang
or
be
forced
to
and
that
when
they
come
here
as
well.
This
is
gonna
be
a
safe
haven.
All
right.
No
walls
for
the
City
of
Boston
everybody's
welcome.
C
Having
the
confidence
in
me
to
make
me
to
42nd,
Police,
Commissioner
and
he's
right,
I
did
come
from
the
neighborhood.
You
will
not
see
me
change
me.
You
can
still
feed
me.
You
know
everything's
good
and
one
thing
we
know
if
we
have
a
strong
partnership
here
in
Boston,
the
first
responder
family
and
as
well
everyone's
seeking
justice
for
those
that
are
doing
right
and
for
those
that
cannot
do
right,
will
rehabilitate
them
on
that
other
side,
but
one
person
has
been
Arthas.
The
staunch
supporter
of
the
Boston
Police
Department.
C
D
You
know
to
me.
I
said
this:
is
it
for
me
I've
chosen
not
to
seek
reelection
25
years
in
elected
office,
eight
years
as
a
city
council
now
on
my
17th
year,
is
District
Attorney,
my
25th
National
Night
Out
cavalcade.
That's
enough!
Don't
you
think,
listen,
you'll,
believe
it
or
not.
I,
don't
know.
If
you
guys
know
this,
there's
only
been
five
district
attorneys
since
1927.
Can
you
believe
that
only
five
Commissioner
Willie
Ross
is
the
fifth
Police
Commissioner
that
I'm
going
to
be
working
with
in
my
tenure
interesting
a
little
bit
of
an
irony.
D
D
You
know
when
I
was
a
young
prosecutor.
I
got
a
chance
to
come
over
here,
I
was
assigned
to
the
BMC,
but
if
somebody
was
sick
over
here,
a
t-shape
or
who
you
guys
know
well,
I
would
rush
over
here.
People
used
to
say
to
me
why
why
do
you
like
to
come
to
East
Boston
I,
said
there's
a
number
of
reasons:
Meridian
Market
Milano's
favelas,
Reno's
Willie
stay
out
of
East
Boston.
That's
instruction
number
one
for
a
while
I
just
want
to
say.
Thank
you
very
much.
D
East
Boston
has
been
really
really
great
to
me
over
the
last
16
years.
A
lot
of
support
over
here
when
I
started
campaigning.
This
was
largely
an
italian-american
neighborhood
right,
I'm
half
Italian,
so
that
went
over
really
well.
Things
have
changed
now
we're
more
of
a
certainly
a
very
more
diverse
community,
but
Latino
folks
who
have
come
in
here
has
really
energized
that
community
and
it's
a
wonderful
place
to
live
and
work.
It's
very
safe.
The
Boston
Police
are
doing
an
amazing
job,
I
like
to
think
that
the
prosecutors
are
work.
D
D
E
I'm
Sergeant
James
Martin
I'm,
the
community
sort
of
supervising
party,
first
of
all,
I
like
to
thank
all
of
you
for
coming
out
and
I'd
like
to
thank
all
of
you
after
you
have
community
and
emotion
with
the
support
that
we've
received
a
lot
of
negative
press
and
inflation
of
past
few
years,
but
I
have
to
tell
you
that
we
have
received
so
much
support
from
the
community
here.
I
can't
tell
you
how
many
times
that
people
come
up
and
say.
Thank
you.
E
Through
the
service,
we
appreciate
you
and
I
gotta
tell
you
that
we
appreciate
a
lot
if
you
shake
public
officials
and
we
appreciate
it
Japanese
department
as
well,
so
this
portion
of
the
program
we
have
a
few
community
service
awards
to
give
out.
So
if
I
could
have
pass
of
David's
URLs
and
revin
marks
gone.
E
Served
our
community
for
the
past
20
years
when
teen
violence
escalated
here
a
couple
of
years
ago.
He
was
then
joined
by
the
reverend
mark,
scribe
and
chef
Angela
grip
over
arrived
to
assist
us
and,
and
they
never
left.
These
three
men
have
been
instrumental
in
sustaining
our
summer.
Peace
walks
were
their
leadership
and
guidance.
Reverend,
Scott
and
Reverend
Charles
have
also
assisted
with
conducting
home
visits
to
Atmos
youth
with
members
of
our
weekly
human.
E
We
have
adopted
them
as
our
own,
and
the
presence
and
commitment
to
the
east
boston
has
been
instrument
instrumental
in
promoting
peace
and
unity.
Hopefully
these
efforts
might
someday
and
youth
violence
in
our
community.
So
these
reasons
and
more,
we
like
to
honor
Reverend,
mock,
Scott
and
pastor
David's
URLs
without
2018
district
7,
Community,
Service
Award.
E
The
Veronica
cultural
center
is
essentially
where
young
people
can
learn
positive
life.
Lessons
through
the
outs
of
dancing
music
every
year,
Veronica
hosts
a
Day
of
the
Dead
parade
and
games
on
the
Halloween
evening
and
on
Halloween
evening
she
joins
us
in
front
of
district
7
to
provide
for
a
famous
tweet
of
corn
on
the
cob
everyone
Illinois.
E
And
it
was
gone
about
an
hour,
and
so
is
she.
Veronica
is
a
wonderful
role
model
that
the
young
people
of
East
Boston
can
look
up
to.
She
engages
people
with
a
warm
smile
and
big
hug.
Her
positivity
is
so
infectious
that
when
she
hosts
events
and
percenter,
she
could
even
charm
the
police
officers
to
get
up
and
dance
I.
F
F
E
E
So
Alex
is
a
young
man
about
12
years
old.
In
Maine
we
have
a
bike
safety
day.
You
have
it
every
year
at
disillusioned,
Boys
and
Girls
Club
I
mean
I'm.
At
the
end
of
the
event
we
raffle
off
bicycles,
Alex
had
won
one
of
the
bicycles
out
that
he
won
it.
He
gave
the
bike
to
a
kid
that
he
had
just
met
that
day
and
be
honest.
We
were
all
blown
away
by
that
everybody
was
just
like
a
while.
