From YouTube: Stanley Cup Game 7 Public Safety Press Conference
Description
Mayor Martin J. Walsh hosts a press conference at Noyes Park in East Boston. At the press conference, the Mayor will share public safety plans ahead of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup. Go Bruins!
A
A
Thank
you,
everybody,
as
we
get
lined
up
here,
I'll
do
after
the
after.
The
conversation
will
do
on
tropic
questions
first
and
I'll.
Take
the
after
off-topic
questions
after
you
just
say:
right:
they'll!
Do
it
for
me,
but
we'll
do
any
on
topic
on
the
Bruins
and
then
after
that,
we'll
do
off
topic.
First
of
all,
we're
out
we're
very
excited
here
in
the
city
of
Boston
and
in
the
state
to
host
game
7
of
the
Stanley
Cup
Finals.
A
Both
teams
have
played
incredible
series
and
Bruins
showed
us
the
other
night
that
they're
not
done
yet.
They
had
a
really
strong
game.
They've
been
practicing,
and
hopefully
a
patrice
bergeron
gives
another
pregame
pep
talk
tonight
in
the
locker
room,
but
I
don't
know
if
they
need
that,
but
I
think
they'll
be
they'll,
be
they're
gonna
be
ready
to
play
tonight.
So
I
want
to
congratulate
the
Boston
Bruins
and
the
Bruins
organization
for
an
incredible
season,
regardless
of
what
happens
tonight
after
the
game,
they're,
certainly
champions
and
our
eyes
and
they're
a
great
hockey
team.
A
So
congratulations
to
the
ruins.
The
game
starts
at
8:00
o'clock
tonight:
Canal
Street,
open
for
fan
fest
before
the
game,
the
weather
right
now,
there's
a
chance
of
showers
and
thunderstorms,
so
we're
asking
people
to
plan.
Accordingly,
we
have
temporary
parking
restrictions
in
place,
they'll
be
implemented
on
the
streets
around
the
garden
in
North
Station
area,
as
well
as
Phanuel
Hall,
Fenway,
Park
and
Kenmore.
So
we're
gonna
be
making
sure,
as
we
think
about
the
traffic
situation,
we're
gonna
be
shutting.
Some
of
those
areas
down
at
4:00
p.m.
A
Canal
Street
between
Valente,
Way
and
Crosby
Street
will
be
closed
to
traffic.
We're
all
scream
suggesting
anyone
that
has
any
questions
go
to
Boston
gov
for
more
details,
we're
encouraging
people
to
take
public
transit
tonight
into
the
game
and
if
you're
coming
into
Boston
take
public
transit,
we
do
have
a
Sox
game
over
at
Fenway.
So
there's
gonna
be
a
lot
of
people
in
and
around
the
city.
A
So
we
want
to
make
sure
I
think
the
game
starts
at
4:00,
so
the
game
should
be
complete
and
people
should
be
moved
out
by
the
end,
the
game,
but
we're
asking
people
to
stay
public
transit.
We're
asking
people
also
be
careful
of
counterfeit
tickets,
only
buy
from
authorized
ticket
sellers.
That's
for
your
own
well-being,
there's
nothing!
We
can
do
if
you
buy
a
ticket
and
you
pay
crazy
money
for
a
ticket
and
you
don't
get
into
the
game,
that's
something
we
can't
help
you
with.
A
So
we're
asking
people
to
kind
of
you
know:
go
go
to
a
dealer
if
you're
gonna
buy
tickets,
Public
Safety,
certainly
always
our
priority.
The
game
is
great
and
the
celebrations
are
great,
but
Public
Safety's
number
one.
So
we're
asking
people
to
be
responsible,
drink
responsibly,
act
responsibly,
listen
to
listen
to
our
public
safety
officials,
we're
gonna
have
our
blossom
police
out
there
tonight.
We're
gonna
have
MBTA
out
there
and
some
Arizona
State
Police
out
there.
We're
gonna
have
the
sheriff's
County's
office
out
there.
A
So
we
have
a
lot
of
people
on
the
street
now,
including
our
AM
EMS
and
in
Boston
Fire,
so
we're
asking
people
to
be
respectful
of
each
other
when
you're
out
there.
Whatever
the
outcome
of
the
game,
Boston
has
shown
in
the
past
that
we
know
how
to
win
with
style
and
pride,
and
we
know
how
to
lose
with
silent
pride,
so
we're
asking
people
to
be
very
responsive
and
very
respectful
of
property
and
of
people
as
you
move
out.
A
There's
a
lot
of
young
people
a
lot
of
little
ones
going
to
the
game
tonight
and
the
last
thing
we
want
to
do
is
see
somebody
get
hurt,
whether
it's
a
celebration
or
a
loss
on
Cosway
Street
or
around
the
garden.
We're
gonna
have
Boston
Fire
Department
out
out
on
the
in
the
area
tonight
to
make
sure
that
everyone
is
safe.
Boston,
Police,
Department,
EMS,
they're
all
gonna
be
on
hand
on
our
side.
Our
Emergency
Operations
Center
is
going
to
be
activated
so
we'll
be
monitoring
all
the
situations
in
and
around
the
garden
area.
A
I'm
gonna
ask
I'm
gonna,
ask
superintendent
Ridge
to
come
up
here
and
say
a
couple
words
and
then
from
the
Boston
Police
Department
and
chief
green
from
the
MBTA
police
department,
and
we
are
a
city
of
Champions,
Boston,
Massachusetts
and
whatever
happens
tonight,
we're
incredibly
proud
of
our
team.
So
again
just
asking
people
to
be
careful.
I'm
gonna
after
we're
down
we're
gonna,
take
questions.
There
is
no
conversation
of
any
parade.
Work
has
to
be
done
on
the
ice
tonight.
The
Bruins
have
three
periods
and
maybe
in
overtime
to
do
that
business.
A
B
Thank
You,
mr.
mayor
morning,
everyone
first
of
all
I
wish,
which
the
Bruins
good
luck
in
their
endeavor
for
the
next
Stanley
Cup
quest
personally
I
wish
it
wasn't
happening
on
a
Game
seven
with
17,000
plus
people
inside
the
inside
the
garden.
You
know,
I,
don't
know
why
they
couldn't
have
done
in
game
for
Game
six.
What
would
help
me
out
a
lot?
However?
You
know
we
are
here
now,
so
we
can
anticipate
a
we'll
see
pretty
much
around
the
garden
in
the
Bulfinch
Triangle
area.
B
The
North
Station
area
is
a
it's
a
highly
visible
uniformed
presence
that
both
are
Cana
an
EOD
Althea
will
have.
Our
hazmat
teams
will
have
a
lot
of
uniform
presence
out
that
way.
The
man
mentioned
fanfest
following
fan
fest
at
about
8
o'clock,
we're
gonna
start
to
close
the
area
down
around
that
North
Station
area.
B
So
if
people
are
coming
down
to
the
garden
and
they
want
to
support-
you
know
the
being
a
Bruins
fan,
if
you
will,
you
know
we'll
give
them
certain
areas
not
right
in
front
of
us
the
garden
itself,
but
we'll
have
those
barriers
set
up.
So
approximately
8
o'clock
we'll
be
shutting
that
area
down
there
are.
There
could
be
some
other
road
closures.
Also
in
pretty
much.
You
know
what
we've
seen
in
the
past.
You
know
the
fair
Newhall
area.
B
We've
got
a
lot
of
supporters,
it'll
come
out
there,
so
we'll
probably
shut
that
down
that
area
and
then
maybe
in
the
Kenmore
Square
area.
I
know.
Luckily,
for
me
the
the
college
kids
are
not
around
if
they've
all
gone
home,
so
we
won't
have
that
huge
influx
that
we've
seen
from
Northeastern
and
bu,
but
we
do
expect
a
lot
of
people
that
come
down
after
the
game
and
again
you
know
going
on
with
the
mayor
said:
we
act
unless
we
act
responsibly.
You
know
we
will
not
tolerate
a
public
drinking
smoking
of
marijuana.
B
We
will
not
tolerate
any
property
damage.
Otherwise
you
know
we
invite
you
to
come
on
down
and
celebrate
the
Bruins
victory.
However,
you
know
act
responsibly.
You
know,
as
the
mayor
said,
you
know
we
are
a
city
of
Champions
we've
been
here
before
so
just
just
act
like
it
is
what
we're
asking
people
to
do.
You
know
be
on
your
best
behavior
and
support
your
team.
Thank
you
very
much.
C
More
than
everyone
again,
as
always,
I
think
we've
done
this.
What
12
times
I
want
to
thank
you
for
being
here
and
to
help
us
to
get
our
message
out
to
ride
in
public
I
really
appreciate
it.
You
know
we're
a
very
accustomed
to
winning
various
championships
here
in
the
city
of
Boston
were
actually
spoiled.
You
know,
but
it's
been
over
two
decades,
since
we've
had
a
decidin
clinching
game
in
the
city
of
Boston,
I
believe
in
class,
one
was
in
1994
with
the
Boston
Celtics.
C
With
that
being
said,
we
anticipate
a
large
volume
of
celebrants
coming
into
the
city
to
experience
a
Bruins
victory
tonight.
I
believe
it
will
be
a
victory
by
the
way
we
encourage
everyone
coming
out
to
the
city
to
utilize.
The
MBTA
Transit
System
I
want
to
remind
people
to
conduct
themselves
in
the
same
professional,
world-class
manner
that
would
make
the
bruins
organization
in
the
city
of
boston,
proud.
The
the
transit
police
will
have
an
increased
uniformed
presence
out
tonight,
as
well
as
with
a
high
concentration
of
those
officers
being
in
the
downtown
area.
C
Alcohol
consumption
and
or
unruly
behavior
will
not
be
tolerated.
On
the
MBTA,
and
as
always,
we
ask
our
riders.
If
you
see
something,
please
say
something:
contact
us
or
any
public
safety
official
and
we'll
come
down
to
investigate
with
the
help
of
the
public.
Together,
we
can
have
a
successful,
safe
and
enjoyable
victory
celebration
tonight.
Thank
you.
A
One
other
thing,
I
want
to
say,
provide
two
questions,
also
we're
asking
people
not
to
bring
bags
and
backpacks
in
town
today.
You
don't
need
to
have
them
because
it
just
makes
it
makes
it
a
concern
for
our
Police
Department
and
the
people,
and
also,
if
you're
out
there,
and
you
see
something
that
concerns
you.
Something
looks
out
of
the
ordinary
we're
asking
you
to
grab
grab
grab
the
public
safety
of
fish,
don't
let
them
know
rather
be
safe
than
sorry.
D
A
Start
first
and
if
the
chief
wants
to
jump
in
I've
had
I
had
a
conversation
this
afternoon
with
Stephanie
this
morning,
I
should
say
on
my
way
here
to
the
park
just
to
make
sure
that
service
is
increased
for
tonight
and
to
make
sure
that
services
are
reliable
for
tonight
and
they've
ensured
me
that
the
tea
will
be
up
and
running
properly.
Tonight.
There's
an
issue
today,
potentially
shutting
down
for
an
hour,
so
I
heard
a
little
while
ago,
just
to
do
some
more
upgrades,
but
you
know
it
has
to
be
up
and
running
tonight.
A
It's
unacceptable!
It's
not!
So
because
there's
gonna
be
a
lot
of
people.
I
think
you
know.
You're
gonna
have
the
17,000,
as
the
superintendent
said
coming
to
the
game,
but
you're
also
gonna
have
probably
other
another
thousand
or
so
coming
in
town
to
experience
something
so
we're
gonna
be
asking
people
to
out
asking
the
tea
to
make
sure
that
it's
running
properly
with
extra
service
of
neat.
A
Old
it's
up
and
running
today
and
we
were
told
that
it
will
be
running
tonight.
I
mean
that
certainly
would
be
a
major
problem
for
us.
We
were,
we
were
preparing
this
morning
with
the
superintendent
the
police
department
to
do
have
police
at
intersections.
If
the
tea
wasn't
up
and
running
this
morning,
it
did
get
up
and
running
this
morning,
so
we
didn't
have
the
traffic
congestion
other
problems
we
had
yesterday,
so
it
needs
to
run
I
mean
we
have
to
get
it
running.
A
D
B
We
will
not
be
doing
actual
bag
checks
for
people
coming
to
the
area.
We
just
asked
that
you
try
not
to
bring
those
items
there
because
it
will
it
will.
It
will
in
heighten.
You
know
the
sense
of
security
down
there
when
we,
when
we
see
people
with
backpacks,
you
know
we're
gonna
know
with
wit,
would
say
that
what
do
you
carry
so
you
know
if
you
can
take
that
out
of
the
equation.
It
would
certainly
help
us.
B
If
we
can,
if
we
can
picture
the
garden
itself
and
in
Cosway
Street
all
right,
cuz
way
that
the
garden
itself
takes
up,
you
know
between
probably
Portland
Street,
all
the
way
down
to
Canal
and
certainly
towards
Haverhill
Street,
so
that
that
particularly
there
will
set
barriers
up.
So
we're
not
allowing
people
to
come
in.
We
will
have
berries
set
up
for
people
that
are
exiting
so
that
they
can,
if
you're
coming
off
the
main
entrance.
The
hub
entrance
is
it's
called
you'll,
be
you'll,
be
asked
to
go
down.
B
Canal
Street,
you'll,
filter
down,
Canal
Street,
where,
when
you,
when
you
get
past
for
went
away
towards
new
trend
towards
Haymarket
you'll,
be
able
to
get
out
into
the
with
with
the
general
public
you'll
be
able
to
make
your
way
to
the
train
station
there.
If
you
didn't
already
stay
inside
the
garden
to
do
that
on
so
picture-picture
the
end,
but
where
the
Tip
O'neill
building
is
the
area
of
Merrimack,
Stanford
Street
will
allow
people
to
gather
and
congregate
there
and,
on
the
other
side,
makini
square
side,
the
North
Washington
Street
side.
B
If
people
are
coming
up
towards
Beverly
Street,
a
causeway
will
allow
them
to
condemn
great
idea,
pretty
big
areas
where,
where
we
can,
we
can
kind
of
keep
the
crowd,
separated
and
we'll
have
plenty
of
assets
over
there
to
police
that.
But
that's
it
that's
our
plan
when,
when
people
are
exiting
the
garden
they'll
be
asked
if
depending
on
which,
which
exit
you
do
you'll,
be
asked
to
go
a
particular
way
to
get
you
out
of
that
area.
D
B
Just
hoping
it's
not
1970
all
over
again
and
we
have
an
overtime
like
like
the
man
mentioned
yes,
game,
7,
obviously,
there's
a
hype
I'm,
you
know
you
know
and
depending
on
how
the
game
goes,
you
know
me
I'm
hoping
for
the
blowout,
but
if
this
is,
if
this
is
the
last
minute
overtime,
when
yeah
I
mean
it
certainly
gets
people's
emotions
up
and
it
gets
the
you
know,
the
more
excited
they'll
be
on
you
know.
So,
hopefully
you
know
patrice
bergeron
speech
works
and
we
can
we
can.
B
B
You
know
you
know
we're
get
up
we're
working
with
our
public
safety
partners
with
the
transit
police
state
police.
Our
pot
is
from
them
like
and
Metro
like
to
to
bring
in
some
extra
resources
down
there
I.
You
know
we
have
a
lot
of
help.
There
are.
B
That
said,
we
still
are
committed
to
the
to
the
police,
saying
that
the
neighborhoods
of
the
city
of
Boston
we've
got
extra
patrols,
it'll
be
out
in
all
parts
of
the
city
again,
some
of
it
has
to
do
with
with
the
game,
and
other
things
have
to
do
with
you
know,
just
the
fact
that
you
know
we
don't
want
to
lose.
Our
core
mission
in
our
core
mission
is
policing
the
neighborhood.
B
We've
asked
we've
asked
for
no
parking
restrictions
there.
There
are
a
lot
of
licensed
premises
in
Kenmore
Square.
You
know
a
lot
of
the
bars
are
there
down
there
and
what
we
saw
in
2011.
We
did
see
a
bunch
of
people
coming
out
of
the
bars
with
some
smaller
celebrations.
We
were
able
to
keep
the
traffic
open
and
it
is
our
hope
and
our
plan
to
keep
the
traffic
open
there
tonight.
B
However,
we
do
have
contingency
plans
with
barriers
to
shut
down
traffic
coming
into
Kenmore
Square,
and
that
will
be
it
will
be
the
zone
commander
on
site.
There's
a
deputy
superintendent
over
there.
If
he
thinks
it's
getting
a
little
a
little
dicey
and
he
needs
to
shut
it
down,
no
shut
it
down.
Yeah.
A
It's
been,
it's
been
there
for
every
game
down
on
Canal
Street,
just
chief
green,
just
whispered
in
my
ear,
any
any
try
and
get
the
early
time.
If
you
go
on
the
Bruins
game
because
we
have
a
lot
of.
There
is
a
lot
of
traffic
on
our
public
transit
tonight,
the
green
land,
with
the
fact
with
Fenway,
going
on
at
four
o'clock
and
then
tonight
all
the
other
lines
for
the
garden.
So
leave
early,
prepare
for
that
and
then
also
go
the
MBTA
website.
A
A
Think
any
100%
assurance
it's
not
gonna
happen,
but
certainly
it
was
concerning
to
me
because
you
know
it
was
a
Tuesday
commuted
to
a
brutal.
You
know
people
who
taken
the
train,
he
was
stranded
at
stations
and
you
know:
listen.
The
the
the
fare
increases
go
into
effect
next
week.
You
know
III
supported
it
with
some
exemptions
and
the
exemptions
which
what
the
T
did
seniors
and
children
and
kids
than
that.
That
was
good,
but
I
mean
people
have
we
have
to
have
more
reliability?
You
can't
have
this
can't
be
the
case.
I
mean.
A
Unfortunately,
you
know
we
had
the
derailment
today
before
as
well.
You'll
be
so-called
human
error.
We
just
have
to
do
better
and
certainly
I
know
that
the
governor's
frustrated
I
was
frustrated
yesterday
and
you
know
because
people
it
strains,
it
strains
on
city
streets
and
it
strains
people's
ability
to
get
to
work
and
to
want
from
work
and
there's
a
lot
at
stake
here.
So
you
know
we're
gonna
continue
to
work
at
the
T
and
push
the
T,
the
general
manager
there
to
make
sure
that
the
improvements
happen.
A
D
A
How
do
you
expect
on
a
on
a
Tuesday
morning,
at
9:00,
at
eight
o'clock,
when
we're
at
crosswalks
in
schools
and
making
sure
kids
across
in
the
street
and
all
of
a
sudden
the
tea
goes
down?
It
gets
to
Rails
I
mean
I,
mean
it
approach.
There
is
protocol,
but
we
also
have
I
mean
no
one's
expecting
I
mean
that's
a
pretty
big.
That's
a
pretty
big
derailment.
When
you
say
the
are
the
red
line
in
Boston
is
being
shut
down,
I
think
it's
the
the
most
of
the
second
most
used
transit.
A
That's
our
transit
line
in
the
MBTA
and
to
have
it
shut
down.
It's
frustrating
I
mean
you
had
more
cars
and
buses.
You
had
all
kinds
of
craziness
out
there.
We
were
prepared
for
the
neck
today.
If
we
had
to
do
that,
but
you
can't
just
jump
in
intro,
throw
throw
people
out
in
the
intersection
I'll
settle
traffic
on.
There
was
a
lot
more
to
the
story
than
then
doing
that
what
was
the
cost?
Do
you
think
to
the
city
of
Boston.
