A
I
would
like
to
acknowledge
those
joining
us
on
stage
today
for
the
ceremony:
boston,
mia
kim
jani
superintendent
in
chief
gregory,
long
brockton,
mayor
robert
sullivan
brockton,
police
chief
emanuel
gomes
department,
chaplains
grand
rabbi,
cough
father,
john
conley,
reverend
gregory,
gruver
and
pastor
arthur
gerald
on
behalf
of
the
boston
police
academy
and
our
recruits.
I
would
like
to
express
our
thanks
to
mr
david
gibbons,
the
executive
director
of
the
bcec
and
his
staff
for
hosting
us.
Today.
D
D
D
We
also,
oh
god,
thank
you
for
this,
our
police
academy
class
of
6020,
these
brave
men
and
women
who
have
labored,
who
have
been
trained,
who
have
shown
diligence
and
great
skill
and
a
commitment
for
the
security
of
your
city.
Now
we
pray
that
they
will
always
know
that
their
work
is
just
not
a
job.
It's
a
calling.
It
is
a
sacred
trust
that
you
are
placing
on
their
shoulders
to
care
and
watch
for
the
security
of
this
city.
D
We
pray
that
you
will
bless
each
of
them,
empower
and
equip
them
with
courage
and
with
dedication
and
love
for
this
great
city
of
boston.
We
also
lift
up
their
family
members,
their
spouses,
their
children,
their
parents
who
are
sharing
them
with
the
city,
and
we
pray
that
you
will
bless
each
household
abundantly
as
each
morning.
Their
loved
one
will
leave
their
homes
and
do
the
work
of
protecting
our
city,
keep
them
safe
in
the
streets,
protect
them
from
all
danger
and
harm.
D
We
thank
you
for
our
mayor
and
we
pray
that
you
will
continue
to
guide
and
and
work
and
oversee
the
work
of
mayor
janie.
We
thank
you
for
superintending
chief
long
and
for
his
leadership
of
this
entire
boston
police
department.
At
such
a
time
as
this
for
all
of
the
brass,
all
of
the
commanding
officers
for
all
of
the
police
officers,
we
give
you
praise.
D
E
E
E
By
doing
the
right
thing,
we
have
reached
a
positivity
level
at
a
historic
low
of
one
percent
in
the
city
of
boston,
and
I
give
credit
to
the
residents
of
boston
for
doing
the
hard
work,
as
well
as
our
public
health
team,
and
that
is
why
we
can
have
this
class
not
on
zoom
but
together
in
this
building.
So
I'm
really
grateful
for
that.
I
want
to
acknowledge,
certainly
mayor
robert
sullivan
of
brockton
chief
gomes
of
brockton,
the
bpd
chaplains
rabbi,
korff,
reverend
groover,
who
you
heard
from
father,
connolly
and
pastor
gerald.
E
I
don't
have
to
tell
anyone
here
that
we
are
at
a
turning
point,
not
just
in
the
city
of
boston
but
in
our
country,
and
this
class
has
stepped
up
to
meet
that
call
reverend
groover
said
this,
isn't
a
job
for
you.
This
is
a
calling,
a
special
vocation,
you've
put
in
the
hard
work,
but
we're
just
getting
started.
E
E
He
has
stepped
up
stepped
up
at
a
very
a
difficult
time
in
our
city,
and
he
has
done
incredible
work
serving
as
double
duty,
certainly
leading
our
department
and
continuing
to
make
sure
that
we
are
doing
the
hard
work
to
build
trust
within
our
city
and
to
serve
the
residents
of
boston
by
leading
a
police
force
that
we
can
all
be
proud
of.
E
We
will
see
a
new
day
in
boston
where
there
is
safety,
healing
and
justice
because
of
the
work
that
we
do
together,
working
together
working
collaboratively.
So
I
want
to
say:
congratulations
to
all
of
you.
I
want
to
also
acknowledge
your
families,
everyone
who
has
put
in
this
hard
work,
and
I
want
us
to
celebrate
this
day.
This
is
a
day
of
celebration.
E
This
truly
is
a
special
day
a
new
day
in
our
city,
and
I
am
so
just
grateful
for
the
opportunity
to
lead
and
serve
alongside
you
and
alongside
our
chief,
who,
I
believe
is
the
next
speaker.
So
please
I'm
going
to
turn
it
back
over
to
the
superintendent,
but
I
also
want
folks
to
really
acknowledge
chief
long
for
his
incredible
work
over
the
last
couple
of
months
that
I've
had
the
opportunity
to
serve
with
him.
E
So
if
you
wouldn't
mind
please
giving
it
up
for
our
chief,
I
know
he
doesn't
like
the
spotlight,
but
he
has
done
tremendous
work
leading
our
department,
and
I
am
just
grateful
for
his
partnership
and
his
leadership.
And
again
I
thank
you
for
your
service
and
the
work
that
you
will
continue
to
do.
Thank
you
so
much.
F
Good
morning,
this
is
a
great
day
an
exciting
day.
Everyone
should
be
proud
of
of
what's
about
to
happen
here
today.
I
first
want
to
start
off.
I
want
to
thank
the
boston,
police
academy
staff,
superintendent
carter,
captain
terenzi
and
the
rest
of
the
staff.
I
can't
say
enough
about
the
work
that
you
do
to
prepare
the
recruits
to
get
to
this
point.
The
training
that
they
receive
is
second
to
none,
and
I
can't
say
enough
about
the
work
you
do.
It's
truly
appreciated.
F
I
want
to
acknowledge
mayor
janie.
I
want
to
thank
her
for
her
continued
support
of
the
boston
police
department
and
her
willingness
to
provide
the
resources
necessary
for
the
boston
police
department
to
provide
public
safety
in
the
city,
the
city
of
boston.
I
appreciate
your
support
and
we
also
want
to
acknowledge
mayor
sullivan
brockton
on
chief
combs
at
brockton.
It's
a
pleasure
to
have
you
here
today.
F
I
also
want
to
acknowledge
irving,
grover
father,
conley
rabbi,
korff
and
pastor
gerald,
and
I
also
want
to
finally
acknowledge
the
staff
here
at
bcec.
We
can't
say
enough
about
you,
know
your
partnership
and
allowing
this
to
happen
today.
It's
very
much
appreciated:
congratulations,
class,
60,
60,
20.,
it's
all
right
to
smile
you're,
not
going
to
get
into
trouble
right
now,
so
you
can
smile
or
maybe
they're
going
to
get
can
can
they
smile
right
now,
they're,
all
right,
they're
good.
I
want
to
congratulate
you.
F
As
I
said
on
monday,
going
through
a
police
academy
is
no
easy
feat,
there's
a
ton
of
of
perseverance
and
dedication.
That
goes
to
that.
As
you
well
know
to
get
to
this
point
today,
you
should
really
be
proud
of
yourself
and
enjoy
enjoy
this
moment
to
your
families
and
friends
that
are
here
again.
F
I
can't
say
enough
about
the
love
and
support
that
you've,
given
these
recruits
to
get
them
through
this
you've
shown
them
love
and
support
their
entire
lives
and
they're
going
to
need
it
going
forward.
I
want
to
thank
you
for
everything
that
you
do,
because
the
law
enforcement,
if
we
didn't
have
a
family
and
friends,
would
be
nothing.
So.
Thank
you
very
much.
You
know
policing
isn't
an
easy
job.
I
have
a
ton
of
respect
for
anybody.
That's
willing
to
put
on
a
uniform
in
a
badge.
F
It's
a
job,
that's
so
fuel
willing
to
do
it's
a
dangerous
job.
At
times
it
says
a
lot
about
you
as
individuals
that
you're
willing
to
to
join
this
profession.
As
I
also
said
on
monday,
the
second
you
put
this
badge
on
you're
held
to
a
higher
standard.
That's
just
the
nature
of
this
job
and
lots
are
going
to
be
expected
out
of
you
from
the
citizens
of
boston
in
brockton,
and
I
have
no
doubt
no
doubt
at
all
that
you'll
meet
those
expectations.
F
F
You're,
gonna,
you're
gonna
be
around
people
you're
gonna
situations
that
you
never
thought
you'd
find
yourself
in
okay,
when
you
do
find
yourself
in
those
situations,
rely
on
your
training
rely
on
one
rely
on
each
other,
maintain
your
composure,
be
professional
and
always
do
the
right
thing.
This
is
a
job
that
can
be,
it
can
be
dangerous,
it
can
be
frustrating
it
can
be
rewarding
and
fulfilling
all.
At
the
same
time,
it's
a
very
complex
job,
but
I
have
no
doubt
with
the
training
that
you
have
that
you're
up
to
the
challenge.
F
You
know
one
of
the
most
powerful
aspects
of
policing
is
the
ability
to
have
a
meaningful
impact
on
someone's
life.
Every
day
you
go
to
work,
every
interaction
that
you
have
every
shift
that
you
work
you're
going
to
have
that
opportunity
embrace
that
opportunity
to
have
a
positive
impact
on
someone's
life.
F
You
know
police
departments,
you
know
they
rise
and
fall
on
on
the
trust
the
community
has
in
the
department
in
the
relationship
a
department
has
with
this
community
every
day
you
go
to
work,
build
on
those
relationships,
build
that
trust
problem
solve
with
the
community
embrace
that
partnership.
F
It
is
it's
an
amazing
opportunity
for
you
for
you
for
each
one
of
you
embrace
that,
okay,
as
you
go
along
in
your
careers,
don't
forget
to
take
care
of
yourself
mentally
and
physically.
I
know
like
you
know.
I
saw
everyone
running
the
other
day.
You
all
look
great
two
weeks
from
now.
Don't
stop
running
five
years
from
now.
Don't
stop
working
out.
You
need
to
have
an
outlet
away
from
this
job,
it's
good
for
you,
physically
and
mentally.
You
have
to
have
other
things
to
do.
F
As
I
also
mentioned
on
on
monday,
we
have
a
a
peer
support
unit,
the
boston
police
department.
As
you
go
on
in
your
career,
don't
ever
hesitate
to
utilize
its
services.
Okay,
it's
a
very
stressful
job.
You'll
have
stresses
outside
this
job
and
stresses
inside
this
job
utilize
the
peer
support
unit.
It
doesn't
make
you
weak.
It
makes
you
strong.
It
makes
you
a
stronger
officer
makes
you
a
better
person,
makes
you
a
better
friend
and
makes
you
a
better
family
member.
F
Also,
as
you
go
on
in
your
careers,
don't
stop
educating
yourself,
police.
All
policing
is
always
evolving.
It's
very
complex
continue
to
learn
best
practices
and
growing
trends.
Go
back
to
school,
take
promotional
exams,
take
law
enforcement,
trainings,
always
educate
yourself,
don't
ever
stop
doing
that.
F
Getting
back
to
your
family
and
friends,
as
I
also
said
on
monday,
don't
forget.
Your
family
and
friends
don't
be
absorbed
by
this
job.
To
the
point
that
you
start
isolating
your
family
and
friends.
They
were
here
before
this
they're
here
now
they'll
be
here
afterwards.
You're
gonna
need
them.
Okay
do
not
be
absorbed
by
this
job,
it's
an
important
job,
but
yet
there's
life
outside
the
shop
and
don't
forget
your
family
and
friends.
F
You
know
when
I
came
on
this
job
now
showing
my
age
about
25
years
ago,
my
mother,
early
on
in
my
career,
told
me
she
said
you
just
joined
a
noble
profession.
You
should
be
proud
of
yourself.
You
know
at
the
time,
probably
because
I
was
younger.
I
didn't
fully
realize
what
she
was
saying-
and
you
know
probably
didn't
want
to
at
the
time,
but
as
my
career
went
on,
I've
seen
daily
people
that
I
work
with
I've
seen
acts
of
coverage,
bravery,
compassion,
empathy,
sympathy
and
generosity.
F
Every
single
day
I
saw
the
impact
that
police
can
have
not
only
in
individuals
but
entire
communities
as
I've
gone
on
my
career,
I've
come
to
realize
what
my
mother
said
to
me
and
what
that
meant
that
I
do
belong
to
a
noble
profession
and
I
am
proud
of
this
profession.
I
am
proud
to
serve
the
city
of
boston
and
each
one
of
you.
I
want
to
say
to
you:
you
are
joining
a
noble
profession
and
you
should
be
proud
of
this,
embrace
all
the
opportunities
that
you're
going
to
have
have
fun
with
this.
F
Yes,
it's
a
tough
job,
but
you
can
make
such
a
meaningful
impact
on
people's
lives,
embrace
that
and
enjoy
the
ride,
and
I
want
to
congratulate
each
and
every
one
of
you
for
being
here
today
and
I
look
forward
to
you
out
in
the
streets
of
boston
and
brockton
and
I
think
the
citizens
are.
You
know
gonna
be
very
proud
of
each
one
of
you
when
you're
out
in
the
street.
So
congratulations
and
it
is
now
my
honor
to
administer
the
oath
of
office.
F
A
G
As
we
gather
here
today,
I
would
like
to
begin
by
thanking
the
academy
staff
for
their
unremitting,
hard
work
and
dedication.
Over
these
past
29
weeks,
you
have
imbued
us
with
the
tenets
of
honor
integrity,
courage,
dedication
as
well
as
sacrifice
these
are
all
attributes
we
will
keep
near
and
dear
to
our
hearts
throughout
our
careers.
G
G
G
G
G
G
G
G
Let
us
remember
that
without
commitment,
we'll
never
start
and
without
consistency,
we'll
never
finish.
I
urge
us
all
to
continue
the
hard
work
as
we
journey
on
the
path
less
traveled.
If
it
were
easy,
everyone
would
do
it
with
that
being
said,
I
want
you
to
remember
that
ease
is
a
greater
threat
to
progress
than
hardship.
G
G
Just
one
more,
I
actually
we
have
a
police
officer
that
is
not
here
with
us
today.
He
just
had
a
baby
girl,
police
officer
gerard.
I
just
had
a
baby
girl
a
lot
today
this
morning,
so
class
60
20.
We
send
out
our
love
and
support.
You
can
just
get
a
round
of
applause
for
him,
I'm
sure
he's
watching.
