C
E
All
right
good
morning,
commissioners,
I'm
here
to
request
a
vote
for
approval
to
award
a
professional
design
and
construction

administration,
sorry,
contract
to

the
common

project.

The
public
facilities
department
is
managing
the
design
and
construction
of
the
project,
which
is
located
at

washington
street
in

In
addition,
pfd
is
working
with
boston,
public
library
to
deliver
timely,
deliver
the
design
services
for
this
project
within
104
weeks
of
the
contract
execution
date.
E
E
Assessment
of
the
aforementioned
improvements
shall
be
explored
via
a
test,
fit
options
and
massing
studies
in
the
context
of
a
building
reuse,
building
expansion,
as
well
as
an
entirely
new
facility
in
the
context
of
an
entirely
new
facility.
The
studied
improvement
shall
adhere
to
mayor
walsh's
executive
order
requiring
all
new
municipal
buildings
to
conform
to
zero
net
carbon
standards.
E
The
first
slide
depicts
an
aerial
view
of
the

can
see

Street
second
slide
displays
the
existing
site
conditions
at
the
front
of
the
building.
That's
the
front
door
there
and,
as
you
can
see,
the
building
lacks
quite
a
bit
of
transparency.
E
It
has
an
inward
looking
nature
currently
and
then
on
the
third
slide,
which
shows
the
existing
conditions
at
the
rear
of
the
building.
You
can
see.
There's
it's
a
generous
site,
given
the
urban
context,
there's
some
parking
at
the
rear
of
the
site
and
then
at
the
rear
of
the
site.
We
also
see
how
the
building
lacks
transparency
and
there's
an
opaque
nature
to
it.
Despite
the
you
know,
otherwise,
welcoming
public
community
space
that
is
contained
within
and
that's
all
the
slides.

to
the

regarding
a

C
F
Thank

ttt
good
morning,
once
again,
commissioners,
I'm
here
today
to
request
the
public

approval
to
amend

manager
or
opm
services,
contract,
wisconsin,
usc
building
for
the
new
josiah
quincy
upper
school
or
jques
project.
The
jques
project
is
perhaps
the
longest
running
project
in
the
public
facilities
department.
The
project
began
in
2011,
with
the
selection
of
hmfh
architects
to
complete
a
feasibility
study
for
combined
boston
arts
academy
and
gizai
quincy
upper
school.
F
For
the
reasons
outlined
in
the
project
background
memo,
this
version
of
the
jques
project
did
not
move
forward.
A
second
feasibility
study
proposed
that
the
future
jqs
be
built
on
the
existing
mckinley
school
site
located
at
90
warren
avenue
in
the
south
end.
This
resident
version
of
the
project
did
not
move
forward
due
to
the
complexity
of
relocating
an
existing
school
community
within
the
south
end
neighborhood
in
the
summer
of
2019,
the
city
obtained
ownership
of
900
washington
street
and
of
249
harrison
avenue
in
chinatown,
which
will
provide
the
site
for
the
new
jqs
building.
F
The
current
construction
schedule
calls
for
the
swing
space
construction
to
begin
at
the
end
of
the
2020-2021
school
year,
with
the
new
building
open
for
operations
at
the
beginning
of
the
2024-2025
school
year.
The
cbr
also
includes
an
extension
of
contract
time
for
skanska
skanska's.
Current
contract
time
ran
from
february
of
2012
to
december
31st
of
2020..
The
extension
of
contract
time
will
extend
skanska's
contract
from
january
1st
2021
to
may
1st
of
2025
this
contract
time
extension
will
allow
adequate
time
for
skanska
to
participate
in
all
construction
phase
services.
F
F
Thank
you,
catherine.

Slides
slide
number
one
is
the
typical
academic
floor
plan,
showing
the
project
areas
and
classrooms.
This
particular
floor
is
the
proposed
fourth
floor,
which
will
house
the
seventh
and
eighth
grade
students
on
the
south
side
of
the
slide.
You
see
general
education
classrooms
for
the
7th
and
8th
graders
and
on
the
north
side
of
the
slide,
you
see
science
classrooms,
which
will
also
be
for
the
7th
and
8th
graders
in
the
middle
of
the
floor
plan.
F
Given
the
tight
site
in
chinatown,
the
designers
felt
like
it
was
important
to
have
some
additional
outdoor
educational
space
for
use
by
the
school
in
this
floor
plan,
which
is
conceptual,
you
can
see
some
of
the
programmatic
areas
which
have
been
proposed
working
closely
with
the
jqs
students
and
the
faculty
over
the
last
few
months.
Some
of
the
areas
included
are
such
as
makerspace.

the
north

view
of
the
new
jques
on
the
left-hand
side
and
on
the
right-hand
side.
This
is
a
view
standing
on
the
corner
of
harrison
and
marginal
road.
Looking
northwest
towards
the
new
building.
F
One
of
the
goals
of
the
design
is
to
integrate
this
rather
tall
building
with
some
of
the
adjacent
row
houses
in
the
chinatown
neighborhood,
which
we've
attempted
to
do
through
utilization
of
different
materials
to
align
the
elevations
of
the
of
the
building
with
the
existing
context,
if
approved,
this
avr
will
be
an
important
piece.
The
city's
goal
of
having
a
new
building
ready
for
bps
students,
beginning
in
the
fall
of
2024.,
the
public
facilities
department,
respectfully
requests
the
public
facilities
commission's
approval
of
this
avr.
G
No
questions
for
me
just
comments,
I
mean
yeah
great
project.
I
can't
wait
for
2024
and
since
this
is
the
last,
we
always
want
to
thank
the
department
for
the
work
that
you
did
in
2020.
Excellent
work,
excellent
leadership
by
chief
wolfie
and,
of
course
just
none
of
this
would
happen
without
the
mirrors,
commitment
and
investment
so
great
job.
I
make
a
motion
that
we
approve.
