Description
The Boston Public Improvement Commission (PIC) is the owner and regulator of the City's rights of way. The PIC plays an integral role in the City's development and permitting process. From the restaurant that wants to add a seasonal cafe on the public sidewalk, to the developer who wants to construct an underground parking garage for a new housing development, or the homeowner who wants to add an architectural feature to a house that juts into the public space, each must seek approval from the PIC to have its private venture occupy public space, either permanently or on a licensed basis.

item
is
on
a
joint

Authority

The
public
may
have
had
within
a
portion
of
Brookline
avenue,
Boston
Proper
located
northwest
Leeside
generally
north
east
of
Park
Drive
Boylston
Street.

been
able
to
vacate
the
existing
tenants
from
that
part
of
the
building
we'll
be
connecting
that
over
time
with
food
uses
and
really
creating
an
active
environment
on
that
side
of
the
building
trying
to
complement
a
lot
of
the
work
that
the
money
River,
the
federal
government
and
the
DCR
have
done.
The
city
has
done
in
the
muddy
river
restoration
project
so
really
creating
Park
on
both
sides
of
the
project.

Trying
to
alleviate
some
pinch
points
on
Brookline
out
of
alleviate
the
differentials
between
the
sidewalk
in
the
and
the
storefronts,
so
a
couple
renderings
to
show
you
what
that
looks
like
this
is
rendering
it.
Apart

the
front
of
the
building,
we've
been
working
with
the
parks
department
and
VR
at
the
PDA
and
landmarks
Commission's.

a
design
that
creates
areas
for
people
to
sit.

reflect
the
design
of
the
park
system
on
the
other
side
of
the
street,
so
mirroring
a
lot
of
the
types
of
plantings
and
site
design
elements
as
well.

discontinuous
portion,
we've
been
working
closely
with
the
BP
PA
on
the
site,
they're
doing
a
demonstration
project
in
conjunction
with
it.

our
new
business
meeting
day,
the
board
has
voted
to
approve
that,
based
on
an
appraisal
that
the
BPD
a
had
had
commissioned
and
they'll
be
conveying
it
to
us
sometime
after
this
hearing
with
the
land
disposition
agreement
and
the
deed.

BPD
a
commissioned

really
had
nothing
to
do
with
it.
There
are
some
restrictions
on
the
land.
It's
got
some
practical
restriction
in
terms
of
being
in
front
of
a
historic
building.
There
are
deep
restrictions
on
what
can
be
done
with
the
property,
so
it's
limited
to.
Basically,
we
can
only
build
a
kiosk
on
it
to
activate
the
part
so.

donated

Hamas's

Sears
warehouse

donated
to
the
city.
Roadway
expansion
never
happened,
Sears
continues

parking
lot

the
property
and

that

requiring
the
parking
line.
