Description
The Boston Public Improvement Commission (PIC) is the owner and regulator of the City's rights of way. The PIC plays an integral role in the City's development and permitting process. From the restaurant that wants to add a seasonal cafe on the public sidewalk, to the developer who wants to construct an underground parking garage for a new housing development, or the homeowner who wants to add an architectural feature to a house that juts into the public space, each must seek approval from the PIC to have its private venture occupy public space, either permanently or on a licensed basis. This meeting begins at the 5:53 mark.

addition,
we're
requesting
installation
of
a
secant
wall
along
Devonshire
Street,
this
is
to
support
the
Winthrop
Center
project,
which
is
located
in
downtown
Boston.

is
expected
to
take
another
three
years
to

crane
pad
on
Devonshire

controlled
construction

familiar
with
the
site
out
there,
the
piles
driven
for
the
foundation
will
require

excavation

uncover

utilities
that
are
there
and
then
we'll
carefully
drive
piles
to
avoid
any
utility
conflicts.

pre-construction

fossil
water
sewer
combined
sewer
line
through
this
area

be
continuing
vibration
monitoring
and
have
a
post
construction
video

those
lines

the
secant
walls.

sidewalk
and
Federal
Street
as
well
under
the

calming
program

modifications

intersection

on

bus
issues,
as
well
as

concerns

streets
program
is

Walsh's,
sort

premier

calming

based
on
objective

crash
history,
presence

older
adults,
children,
our
public
spaces,

schools
and
libraries
and
Parks,
so
those
that
have
the
highest
need
are
chosen.
First,
we
go
through

pretty
extensive
community
engagement
process
with
the
neighborhoods
to
understand
what
exactly
their
concerns
are.

proposed
recommendations

lower

the
slow
streets

be
changing

limits

changes

help
self
enforce

hour
speed
limit,

than
relying
on
our
Police
Department.

right-of-way
