From YouTube: City of Boston Winter Storm Update - 2/10/17
Description
Mayor Walsh joins city officials at the Boston Public Works Yard to provide another storm update and to thank Public Works Department employees for their hard work during the most recent storm.
A
A
Today
and
you're
gonna
see
wind
chills
going
to
be
very
low
today,
so
we're
still
asking
people
to
be
careful
today
when
you
go
out,
the
forecast
calls
for
a
small
amount
of
snow
tonight
and
we're
monitoring
and
preparing
so
over
the
next
couple
days.
We're
gonna
get
these
little
I
think
we
get
snowdrifts
little
bursts
of
snow
will
be
prepared
for
it.
We're
gonna
be
out
there
cleaning
cleaning
the
streets,
but
we're
just
asking
people
to
be
cautious.
A
The
snow
packing
the
emergency
band
was
lifted
to
this
morning,
8
o'clock
this
morning,
work
is
going
to
continue
to
work
all
day
long
to
to
remove
all
the
snow
school.
As
close
as
everyone
knows,
out
of
precaution
and
glad
we
did
that
just
to
allow
us
the
opportunity
to
go
out
there
and
really
clean
the
streets
down
down
so
down
to
the
the
time
all
of
the
city
business
was
open.
Today,
I
want
to
thank
the
public
for
their
compliance
in
the
parking
ban
and
and
for
helping
different
situation.
A
We've
got
a
lot
of
calls.
Just
they
have
different
situations.
One
woman
was
called
about
seeing
somebody
sleeping
in
their
in
their
car
were
able
to
get
nylon
one.
There
I
actually
took
a
call
last
night
and
a
woman
called
she
was
concerned
about
a
homeless
person
on
that
street.
So
a
lot
of
people
called
in
concerns
for
other
folks
and
I
really
appreciate
that
code
enforcement
is
going
to
be
out
to
this
morning,
starting
at
10
o'clock,
ticketing,
businesses
and
residents
for
non
shoveling.
A
We,
you
know
we'll
make
sure
that
we're
working
with
you
but
I
know
that
at
this
point
now
we
need
people
out
there,
cleaning
in
front
of
your
homes
and
in
the
businesses
we're
asking
business
is
to
make
sure
they
clean.
We
want
to
remind
people
not
to
put
snow
in
the
street
we're
going
to
for
the
course
of
the
day
now.
A
Public
Works
is
going
to
be
out
in
the
neighborhood
solving
in
fixed
cleaning
up
the
side
streets,
some
of
the
side,
streets,
they're,
all
plowed,
but
some
of
the
side
streets
are
a
little
slick
because
the
main
purpose
last
night
was
on
them
on
the
major
thoroughfares.
So
we're
asking
people
I'm
Union
to
see
public
work
trucks
out
there
today,
salting
and
getting
rid
of
the
rest
of
the
snow.
We're
asking
people
do
not
shovel
stall
on
the
street.
We're
asking
businesses
do
not
push
snow
on
the
street.
We
got
a
lot
of
calls.
A
Last
night
at
3:01,
saying
people
with
shoveling
snow
on
the
street.
It's
you're
gonna,
make
it
more
complicated
for
people.
You're
gonna
make
it
more
difficult,
so
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we
keep
our
streets
clean.
I
want
to
thank
a
couple.
People
I
want
to
thank
the
Public
Works
Department,
many
of
the
folks
behind
me
in
the
Yellow,
Jackets
and
and
the
folks
came
out
of
this
shot.
I
was
just
over
transportation
and
I
was
over
with,
with
the
coat
with
me
two
maids.
They
did
some
good
work.
They
do
some
tough
work.
A
They
when
the
snow
storm
happens.
These
are
the
folks
that
we
depend
upon.
I
know
that
I'm
in
front
of
the
camera
and
the
governor
isn't
from
the
camera,
but
these
are
the
folks
that
do
the
work
so
I
just
want
to
thank
them
for
their
great
work
here
in
the
city
of
Boston.
I
also
want
to
thank
my
parole
and
his
staff
here
who
worked
hard.
They
started
a
four
o'clock
yesterday
and
they've
been
going
around
the
clock
and
I
want
to
thank
them
as
well
for
their
work.
A
Yesterday
we
had
over
600
pieces
of
equipment
out
on
the
street.
At
the
height
we
had
about
750
people
seminar
pieces,
so
we
started
with
601
to
750.
We
spread
it
roughly
about
13,000
tons
of
salt.
If
we
can
suggestion
if
you
check
out
the
city
of
Oscars,
Twitter
and
Facebook
to
meet
some
of
the
people
behind
the
scenes,
the
plow
drivers
and
the
mechanics
and
assaulters
Public
Works
is
going
to
respond
all
day.
A
Long
to
resident
reports
and
prepping
for
the
next
storm,
if
anyone
has
any
questions
again,
we're
gonna
ask
people
to
call
3-1-1.
So
if
you
have
any
questions,
if
you
streets
not
the
way
you
want
it
to
be
call
be
patient,
we
will
get
to
it.
Yesterday
we
received
a
lot
of
calls.
Today
we
have
the
same
staffing
at
the
301
system.
You
know
very
few
complaints
as
far
as
people
waiting,
so
we
do
have
people
that
answer
the
phone
calls,
but
we're
also
asking
if
you
have
any
any
emergencies.
A
If
you
still
seem
urgency
today,
because
over
the
course
the
next
couple
days,
so
they
be
cold
call
911
asked
you
to
check
on
your
elderly
neighbor
help
the
fire
department
with
shoveling
out
hydrants
in
front
of
your
homes.
If
they're
not
shoveled
out
the
fire
department's
gonna
be
out
in
the
streets.
Today's
shoveling
shoveling
some
fire
hydrants
out,
but
we
have
over
13,000
5
hydrants
in
the
city,
so
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we
show
them
out
and
also
crosswalks.
A
If
you
have
a
crosswalk
on
your
corner
around
your
house,
if
you
could
shovel
that
it'd
be
helpful
as
well,
but
now,
for
the
most
part
everyone
did.
It
did
a
great
job
in
this
storm.
I
want
to
thank
everyone.
I
want
everyone
to
continue
to
remain
cautious,
dress,
warm
and
be
prepared,
and
if
you
have
any
questions
at
all
the
public,
you
can
go
to
Boston
dot,
gov
slash
snow
and
we
have
all
the
information
up
there.
Any
questions.
A
No
right
now
we're
looking
at
it's
like
an
inch
or
two
and
in
the
way
the
weather
weather
forecast
has
been
it's
gonna
get
it's
gonna
get
warmer,
so
we
have
a
lot
of
melting,
so
we're
asking
people
to
shovel
it
catch
basins
and
then
it'll
get
cold
again.
But
we're
not
looking
for
a
deep
we're,
not
seeing
any
deep
freeze
right
now,
but
what
we
will
be
doing
is
making
sure
the
streets
are
safe
and
passable,
so
it
won't.
It
won't
be
anything
what
we've
experienced
lasts.
A
Their
last
24
hours,
it'll
be
a
smaller
type
of
dusting
a
little
bit.
There
is
potential
next
week
every
Monday
for
a
little
bit
bigger
storm,
but
it's
still
not
not
this
magnitude,
we're
talking,
I,
think
anywhere.
I
think
I
went
from
1
to
5
inches
and
in
that
ballpark.
So
much
so
we're
going
to
monitor
that
very
closely
and
be
prepared
for.
A
Well,
we're
basically
in
the
48
hour
period,
so
we're
asking
people
now.
I
mean
people
in
neighborhoods
that
have
space
to
save
space,
save
a
rule
for
the
next
48
hours
you
can
save
your
spaces
will
obviously
make
a
determination
as
Monday
comes
because
of
this
know,
depending
on
what
happens
with
that
snow.
But
you
know
people
spectrum
I
mean
we
don't
need
the
story.
I
watch
the
news.
A
large
thing.
I
watch
every
channel
yesterday
and
everyone
had
these
signs
that
people
made
about
threatening
people.
That's
nonsense!
Don't
do
that.
You
know.
A
If
we
see
those
signs
out
there,
I
would
instruct
rubble
works.
To
pick
up.
You
pick
up
the
space
saver
and
throw
in
the
truck
if
they're
gonna
be
threatening.
People
on
our
own
wording
be
respectful.
Each
other
I
think
that
you
know
be
respectful
on
both
sides.
You
shuttle
you
space
out.
You
did
a
lot
of
work
and
shoveling
out
with
your
driving,
and
you
see
a
space
that
somebody
said
and
respect
this
person
space.
You
know
and
respect
each
other.
A
You
know
I
just
made
that
rule
up
right
now,
so
yeah
I
guess
all
right,
no
I
mean
we're
gonna,
look
at
it
and
see
I
mean,
but
we're
asking
people
I
mean
I
saw
all
the
notes
yesterday
on
TV,
it's
like
you
know,
you
don't
need
that,
and
but
also
the
people
who
take
up
space
say
we
shouldn't
be
taking
space.
Davis
I
mean
be
respectful.
A
That
part
was
going
to
be
yeah
well,
the
primary
primary
job
today
is
to
make
sure
the
streets
are
all
passable
and
make
enough
passable
make
sure
the
streets
are
all
down
to
the
blacktop
and
then,
after
that,
later
on,
Public
Works
will
be
removing
snow.
So
a
primary
job
this
morning
is
is
it's
putting
salt
out
there
doing
any
left,
last-minute
plowing
just
to
get
a
little
bit
of
ice
off
the
street,
and
then
we
will
then
we
will
double
back
and
the
crews
will
go
out
and
start
removing
stuff.
A
On
the
street,
don't
know
if
they're
in
here
they're
out
on
the
street,
you
know
it's
our
first
time,
I
think
using
it
in
Boston
last
year
we
had
them,
but
we
had
to
we
lent
them
are
down
to
two
Baltimore
cuz.
We
didn't
get
that
type
of
snow,
so
so
you'll
still
be
back
hoes
out
there
back
hoes
and
dump
trucks,
but
this
this
is
kind
of
it's
it's
it's
it's
almost
like
it's
a
snow
blower
on
the
truck
and
it
just
it
just
shoots
the
snow
into
the
trucks,
pretty
cool.
A
A
Yeah
the
times
went
up
on
behalf
of
really
the
commercial
side.
I
mean
they
went
up
a
bit
on
the
residential,
but
the
main
reason
for
that
for
the
for
those
fines
increases
were
really
for
commercial.
Well,
we.
What
we
found
in
2015
was
that
a
lot
of
businesses
were
plowing
their
snow
out
of
their
parking
lots
onto
the
city
streets
and
we
felt
in
the
final.
It
was
I,
think
a
very
200
all
and
fine
at
that
point,
which
is
probably
cheaper
to
take.
A
The
fine
did
actually
pay
for
a
company
to
remove
the
snow.
So
we
raised
the
fine
so
that
it
cost
about
the
same.
So
people
were
encouraging
people
not
to
shop
Wow
into
the
streets.
That
really
was
the
reason
for
that,
and-
and
you
know
the
homeowners
in
some
homeowners
again,
I
mean
we
take
a
case-by-case
basis.
I
mean
some
people
will
probably
get
a
ticket
stay
there,
elderly
well,
when
they
call,
we
take
care,
I
mean
that
gets
that
gets
taken
care
of,
but
the
code
enforcement
officers
I
Steve
tangles
here
today.
A
They
understand,
they
don't
want
to
go
on
they,
but
they
know
they
know.
Who?
Who
does
the
work?
Who
doesn't
do
the
work
so
they're
respectful
as
well
of
the
people
that
they're
out
there
doing
doing
the
work
on
a.
A
Shelters
are
open,
still
24/7.
Our
Public
Health
Commission
is
on
call
for
homeless
folks,
our
elderly
Commission
is
available
as
well.
So
we
had
a
lot
of
calls
from
seniors.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
any
any
programs
for
meals
for
senior
citizens
get
delivered
today
they
pre
delivered.
Yesterday
they
dropped
off
a
couple
extra
meals
just
to
make
sure
people
had
it
so
we'll
be
out
there
delivering
meals.
For
folks,
our
our
hotline,
our
301
numbers
gonna,
be
over
24,
it's
24/7,
we're
gonna,
make
sure
it's
fully
staffed.
A
So
if
anyone
calls
in
there,
they
really
had
an
answer
or
a
response.
So
you
know,
even
though
we're
not
on
snow
emergency,
heightened
alert,
we
are
on
a.
We
do
I.
Think
the
police
department
is
available.
You
know
Commissioner
Evans,
his
team
will
be
ready.
Commissioner
Finn's
team
will
be
ready,
Commissioner
hooli's
team,
probably
all
the
Public
Safety-
will
be
ready,
so
whatever,
whatever,
whatever
anyone
in
confidence
will
get
on.
A
When
I
got
there,
it
was
about
6:30
I,
think
it
was
and
I
believe.
At
that
point
they
were
heading
over
like
2100
calls.
A
They
said
a
lot
of
calls
were
there
was
kind
of
a
mix
of
colleges
like
3,
3
buckets
are
called
one
bucket
calls
a
lot
of
people
called
on
checking
people
to
make
sure
they're
OK,
which
I
thought
was
great.
Second
group
of
calls
and
I
took
two
calls
in
a
few
minutes:
I
was
there
one
wasn't
about
plowing
woman
lived
on
a
hill
on
a
street
and
and
the
the
the
the
plow
went
up
there,
but
she
was
worried
that
it
was
gonna.
A
Plow
was
in
a
shop,
I
called
I
called
Michael,
and
he
said
there
was
a
truck
on
its
way
anyway
in
the
neighborhood,
so
that
was
taken
care
of
one
woman
called
about
a
gentleman
or
somebody
wrapped
up
in
a
blanket
on
our
street
in
front
of
one
of
the
stores
and
that
snow
is
accumulating
on
him
or
her,
and
that
was
a
great
call
and
then
some
people
call
just
about
parking
spaces.
When
does
the
parking
windows
that
when
can
we
put
a
cone
out?
A
That
was
a
lot
of
colleges
they,
so
they
kind
of
they
go
random
but
really,
and
they
talk
to
all
the
folks
are
up
there.
This
everyone
was
great
I
mean
everyone
was
really
Pleasant
and
and
you're.
Just
just
a
couple
calls
and
thank
you
thank
you
for
calling
the
streets
a
couple
calls
saying
my
she
hasn't
applied
yet
so
those
are
the
calls
you
gonna
get
anywhere
else.
